So what is happening today is actually a launch of this police mobile boot.
00:04
It's my understanding that it has been a request from the Tobago population for quite a while.
00:09
However, the facility itself wasn't available.
00:12
It is due to contribution from the business community in particular.
00:16
One businessman in Tobago who has contributed to what we're doing is seeing it.
00:21
And we get now available for us to utilize to see what the people are doing.
00:25
The police post would not only be in Scarborough, but other districts across Tobago.
00:32
It is our intention to use it as somewhat, not as a full station,
00:36
because the process station in Scarborough is about a half a mile away from here.
00:42
So it is intended to bring some level of convenience, one, to the population in Tobago,
00:47
to the people of Tobago in terms of making their reports.
00:49
It is also intended to bring some level of comfort to them in having the police presence in this area,
00:55
which is an area of interest for us.
00:57
And it is our intention to utilize the officers here to fully treat the issues that we have in this immediate area of Scarborough.
01:05
Officer Eli said the police post would be operational for as long as it is needed,
01:11
and members of the public can make reports to officers on hand.
01:15
I cannot say if it will be run for 24 hours, but we have it operational for as long as it is needed during the 24 hours.
01:23
And I think the beneficiaries of this will be not just the police,
01:26
but will be the people of Tobago, the people who utilize Scarborough.
01:30
We look forward to providing that level of safety that they so desperately require.
