00:00And that starts Michigan and Maryland Saturday.
00:02How about this start?
00:03Am I getting this correct?
00:04A 4 p.m. start between Michigan and Maryland.
00:07And this line opened up around 11 and a half, Joe.
00:09Now we're creeping towards 14s at some outlets here.
00:12And also a total of 46 and a half to 45 and a half, depending on where you're shopping at.
00:17Look at Michigan, 8 and 2 on the season on the road against Maryland, Joe.
00:21What's your spread line here?
00:23Well, I thought this was interesting because we talked about it yesterday.
00:26Michigan did not look good at Wrigley Field against Northwestern.
00:31It was a ho-hum performance at that, which in turn caused that opening line, Donnie,
00:38as low as 10 and a half, even in some spots, to open up maybe a little bit of value
00:44because it didn't take betters long to jump all over that, to push it up to where it is right now
00:50at the 13 and a half, maybe even getting to two touchdowns here.
00:55Now, Maryland did come out after, once again, not living up to expectations.
01:00They gave a vote of confidence, which is usually the kiss of death there, Donnie.
01:04Gave that vote of confidence to Mike Loxley there, the head coach at Maryland.
01:09But it doesn't seem like that has moved the market interest at all here.
01:14This line is only continuing to move up.
01:17It will be two touchdowns by midweek.
01:20I am sure of that, but I do not trust Michigan to cover two touchdowns.
01:25If it gets to that number, Donnie, I'll be going the other way quickly.
01:29How about the UConn Huskies?
01:31Eight wins on this football season, sit at eight and three.
01:33They're going to take on Florida Atlantic at Florida Atlantic.
01:36This game is Saturday at 3 p.m. Eastern.
01:38Line roughly around a touchdown or more at minus seven and a half at most outlets.
01:41Look at this total, juicy at 65 and a half plus.
01:46Let's take a look at UConn and Florida Atlantic.
01:48What is your spread line here, Joe?
01:50Well, we're at that time of season here, Donnie, where some teams need a couple of big efforts
01:55and wins to get to, well, a bowl game, right?
01:59So FAU, well, they're in one of those positions.
02:02They need two wins for bowl eligibility.
02:05They have played some very good teams of late, and they've done a really, really good job
02:09again.
02:10They're actually getting better as the season goes on.
02:12This line I saw on Sunday, Donnie, opened up five and a half in spots, and, well, it's
02:18been all UConn money after they beat Air Force on Saturday here.
02:23Listen, eight wins.
02:25They got a great bowl game coming up.
02:27It's been a great season for UConn here.
02:30It's a little bit of a sleepy spot for them, and the over a touchdown might be worth taking
02:35a look at FAU here as this number continues to climb.
02:38A little Big 12 action here, BYU taking on Cincinnati, BYU on the road, a minus two
02:44and a half point favorite over Cincinnati, and a total that sits at 53 and a half.
02:49You look at the numbers here, BYU, nine and one on the season, six and one in the Big
02:5312, but Cincinnati playing that spoiler in the top 25 at home.
02:57BYU-Cincinnati, Joe, give me a spread line here.
03:01Well, here's the deal, right?
03:02I mean, this, to me, is one of the more interesting games of the week because Cincinnati has not
03:07looked good in its last two games, Donnie.
03:10They have looked absolutely terrible here in losing efforts.
03:14But BYU continues, for some reason, the market continues to think they're overrated and that,
03:21you know, there's regression coming.
03:23I mean, they lost to Texas Tech.
03:24There's no shame in that, and they're likely going to have an opportunity to get them back
03:29in the Big 12 championship.
03:31I want to see whether this gets to the three, three and a half.
03:35Do we keep getting Cincinnati money at home here, or are the books and the market going,
03:42it's a field goal game one way or the other?
03:44Does it stay at two and a half?
03:45I think if it hits three, Donnie, I'm going to be looking at Cincinnati in this one.
03:50College football starting to wind down, but things certainly heating up in the race here
03:55with the college football rankings and making it into the playoffs here.
03:59There is no surprise there with the top two.
04:01They've been that way all season long.
04:02It feels like Ohio State and Indiana one and two in the Big Ten, followed by A&M, who squeaked
04:08out a victory against South Carolina this past weekend to improve to 10 and 0, followed
04:12by Georgia and Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Alabama rounding out
04:17the top 10 here, Joe.
04:18Things are going to change.
04:19These teams are going to play each other, but it looks like the Blue Bloods are here
04:22to stay.
04:24They are, Donnie, but we love chaos, and the next couple of weeks provide us the opportunity
04:31for total chaos, and wouldn't it be something if it eventually comes down to both Notre Dame
04:37and the University of Miami with the same record, only Miami having beat Notre Dame, and yet Notre
04:45Dame will get in, and Miami won't.
04:48Interesting.
04:49Oh, but wait, though.
04:50Notre Dame is a conference champion, and they're ranked high.
04:53Oh, wait a second.
04:54They don't even play in a conference here.
04:55Oh, okay.
04:56That could be interesting here down the stretch as we play it out.
04:59Now, let's get to the best story of the day here.
05:01Understand this.
05:03Most times when you hear about a coach leveling up, it's like, let me go from, I don't know,
05:07power or group of five team into the SEC, into the ACC, into the Pac-12.
05:12Wow, that stinks.
05:13Guy left before the bowl game to take a better job here.
05:15That's normal.
05:16That's usually what happens.
05:18How about an SEC team that's in the top five?
05:21They have a coach right now that's getting talked to by two other SEC teams that are not in any race whatsoever,
05:28and he's entertaining those thoughts.
05:30And how about a university that goes, I don't understand.
05:34You better make a decision before the egg bowl if you want to coach us or not.
05:38Then you now know that his family is possibly on private charters checking out Baton Rouge to see if they like it
05:45while Lane Kiffin is trying to prepare for another football game here.
05:48You can't make this up.
05:50This is the SEC in a nutshell.
05:52This is a story that they should talk about and say, like, that never happened.
05:56That doesn't even make sense.
05:57Oh, no, it's happening, Joe, right now.
06:00So, my question is, though, so what happens if he doesn't declare anything by the egg bowl?
06:06Okay.
06:07Now what?
06:07Are you going to fire him heading into the playoffs?
06:10Like, what are you?
06:12I mean, that cracks me up, Donnie, because you have literally zero leverage over this man right now.
06:18Like, he controls it all, and you're giving him ultimatums.
06:22And, okay, right.
06:23So, if he doesn't give you an answer, I guess that's it.
06:25You can't coach in the postseason.
06:27He's hysterical.
06:29The thing about this that really drives me nuts is, like, he is in the SEC, but he also understands, and so does the public.
06:35Like, outside of being an Ole Miss fan, like, LSU is an exponentially better job, more resources, bigger fan base, more money.
06:42And the same thing with the Florida Gators.
06:43It's got to hurt, like, hey, Glenn, like, we brought you in as a head coach, and we think we can win national championships here.
06:49You're top five.
06:49You're going to make the college football playoff.
06:51And he's like, you know what, even if I take a job, let's just say he takes the Florida job or the LSU job, and, of course, you know, Ole Miss makes the playoff, and he's not there.
07:00Like, that would be such an unbelievable story.
07:02Like, I coach my whole life to get into a playoff and win a championship, which my team is good.
07:07We're in the championship, but I'm just not going to coach there.
07:10That's a wild scenario.
07:11It is, but, you know, the guy is 54-19 at six seasons at Ole Miss.
07:18He's got four double-digit win seasons in the past five years.
07:22They've never seen that at Ole Miss.
07:24But even more importantly, Donnie, 14 seasons, Tennessee, USC, don't forget Ole Miss, he was also at FAU here.
07:33He went 115-53 in 14 years.
07:36He is the number one coaching candidate for any Blue Blood program.
07:42I wouldn't be shocked if it's Florida he's going to because he recruited very well for FAU.
07:48He knows the state.
07:50A lot of talent here for him to be able to tap back into, and they'll give him the keys to the franchise, no problem.
07:56I love this, too, because don't remember, like, he left Rocky Top high and dry.
08:00He's never welcome back in the SEC.
08:02Now they were fighting tooth and nail to make this guy the head coach of their team after, again, going back to the SEC and probably leaving another school high and dry.
08:11At the highest levels, it's just about winning, and it's just about money.
08:15That's why they would bring this guy back into the family here in the SEC.
08:18It's wild.
08:18Maybe it does just mean more in the SEC.
08:21Let's keep rolling along here and talking about some other topics, which include the National Championship odds.
08:26Simple here, right?
08:27It's Ohio State, and it's Indiana.
08:28The only thing that's going to change in those odds are when those two teams play each other, where Ohio State gets an even better number, like plus 175 or plus 150, or Indiana, if they beat them in the Big Ten Championship game.
08:39That number decreases, and Ohio State goes higher, Joe.
08:43Yeah.
08:43I mean, listen, Ohio State, it is chalky, but it's real.
08:47They have a real opportunity to run the tables once again.
08:52They've got, you know, and they're doing it with a whole lot of new faces and a lot of new people, including the coaching staff.
09:00You know, Chip Kelly is now, you know, letting Geno Smith get killed, so he's not there anymore.
09:06And we know that, you know, Matt Patricia is the new defensive coordinator there, and they have just been rolling teams.
09:12So, it's going to be, they are the favorite for a reason, and they are, if they're as every bit as good as we think they are, Donnie, then, yeah, maybe that's, now's the time to grab that number, because it might not get any better.
09:25We talk about, like, non-correlated lines in this one.
09:28I mean, Ohio State's the favorite to win the National Championship, but Fernando Mendoza is the favorite to win the Heisman, just behind saying.
09:34There's no way if Ohio State rocks Indiana, and I mean rock them, beat them by 10 points here, that you're going to give the Heisman Trophy to Mendoza over saying at that point.
09:44It feels like it goes hand-in-hand right now.
09:46So, you ask me, I'd rather take the higher number here and say, you know what, give me saying at plus 200 than Ohio State at plus 185.
09:53I'm telling you right now, that's going to happen in the National Championship odds picture.
09:56Make it make sense?
09:57Well, sometimes it does in a little bit here.
09:58You got Maction tonight, Joe, Akron Bowling Green, UMass Ohio, Western Michigan, NIU tonight.
10:05Any one of these games pique your interest?
10:08Oh, yeah, you got some, I mean, quality games here tonight, but we talked about that UMass Ohio game, Donnie.
10:15We wanted to see how high that line would go, right?
10:19They are single-handedly might go down, and this is saying something, as the worst-rated college football team in the history.
10:28Since we started rating, power rating college football teams, they might go down as the single worst of all time.
10:37I don't know that that number's high enough.
10:38It's 33-and-a-half.
10:40We are starting to see a little bit of buyback here tonight, but Akron, maybe the team total under for UMass might be the best look here.
10:48Look, I don't even have to handicap this team in UMass being 0-10.
10:53I just go to their schedule and look at one football game.
10:56They lost to Kent State 42-6.
11:0042-6.
11:01That should tell you all you need to know about our guys at UMass.
11:04Bring back Mark Whipple.
11:05Bring back the days of a good offense out there.
11:06What happened, UMass?
11:08The minute, man.
11:09Ugh, terrible.
11:10Fun show for a Tuesday, and sometimes it is a little bit later.
11:12Joe, I got my head beat in on prop bets on Sunday.
11:16Like, no matter what I touched here, whether it's bad beats, bad handicaps, or injuries, nothing went my way.
11:21Last night, though, fantastic.
11:23I had two touchdown scores in this game, Joe.
11:25Ferguson and also Pickens.
11:27Bang, bang.
11:28Like, love to see that you get the work week started in style.
11:31And also, in this segment, we give out our buy, buy, buy, buy bets, which is our best bets of the day.
11:35Yesterday, Javante Williams from me.
11:37Bang it for Joe Ranieri.
11:39He bang it.
11:40We're going to do that again, but before we get there, we like to hear from the public here.
11:44Here's our fade to public poll.
11:52Now, X has been down most of the morning, Joe.
11:55So where do I get these poll questions?
11:56Well, it's at SportsGrid on X, and some people were able to vote, included myself.
12:01But if you're looking right now, where do I find this at?
12:03You're going to find it anywhere with some of the issues that X is having.
12:06But the question that was asked, Joe, will Lane Kiffin leave Ole Miss?
12:11Three questions that you could answer here.
12:14Yes, this season.
12:16Yes, next season.
12:17No, never.
12:18Well, we know never.
12:19I mean, I don't know about that.
12:20He's just going to stay at Ole Miss until he's 75 years old.
12:23But do you know who the favorite is, Joe?
12:24Since you can't see it right now, who did the public vote for?
12:27Who do you think?
12:28Was it yes this season, yes next season, or no never?
12:32Who's the favorite for you?
12:34I would say yes next season will be the public favorite.
12:39It's actually no never.
12:41That's the last case scenario.
12:44I would have thought that the favor would be yes this season, which means he's going to get over to LSU or Florida.
12:50Next season, which means, yeah, if he struggles a little bit, he's probably just going to leave himself.
12:54But no, never.
12:55Get out of here.
12:57How's that lead?
12:58No, and you knew that can't possibly be the answer when they asked him, do you anticipate being the head coach next year?
13:07And he didn't give an answer at all.
13:11And then we find out his wife and his family are visiting, taking tours of Gainesville and Baton Rouge.
13:18Yeah, no, I would say, yeah, Ole Miss, thanks for the stop.
13:22Thanks for the ride.
13:23But we're moving on.
13:24By the way, if we put it in real life terms, what Lane Kiffin is doing right now, can you imagine being what you think is happily married and your partner comes home and is like, look, I'm going out on three dates tonight.
13:35I'm going to decide if I want to stay here or go with these new three dates.
13:38This is a wild scenario.
13:40But again, this is the SEC.
13:42This is how it gets down.
13:43That's how it gets down.
13:44But on a Tuesday, Joe, after a sweep last night in our bye-bye-bye bets, let's bring it on more for the people.
13:50Here's bye-bye-bye.
13:50Bye-bye.
13:50Bye-bye.
13:54After a win last night with the Miami Heat in the association, Joe, do you stay in the association or the world is your oyster?
14:04Where are you going?
14:06All right.
14:07Well, let's go to Maction football here tonight as we've got two teams, Donnie, that are going to slug it out on the defensive side of the ball,
14:17and that being Northern Illinois taking on Western Michigan.
14:20And listen, we've cashed a bunch of tickets with Western Michigan this year because defensively, one of the more underrated teams, not just in the MAAC but in the country,
14:31are only giving up 11.5 points per game in league play, Donnie.
14:36This is a big, and I mean a big and good defense for Western Michigan.
14:41In the meantime, Northern Illinois, yes, they dropped 45 points.
14:45But on UMass, they ain't doing that against this Western Michigan team, not to mention Northern Illinois runs the ball 65% of the time, Donnie, and they're not very good at it.
14:56But they run it a lot, which means that clock's going to go, but they are very good defensively.
15:02The total opened up 41.5.
15:04It's already been bet down to 38.5, and I agree with it.
15:08I still think it's going to be first one to 17 wins this game.
15:12I'm taking the under here tonight in Northern Illinois and Western Michigan.
15:17It feels like blasphemy out there to take a under in a matching game, but that's the new world that we live in.
15:23NIU used to be at the top of the table there, now at the bottom of the table over there in the MAAC.
15:28And also, they won't be at the table any longer.
15:30They're actually going to be going.
15:30Is it Mountain West?
15:31Are they going to?
15:32Is that the way they think they're upgrading?
15:34NIU in the Mountain West?
15:36It doesn't make any sense.
15:37The same thing the Big Ten has USC and the ACC has Cal.
15:40I mean, stop it.
15:41That's just the world we live in.
