00:00Saturday, a noon kickoff, Washington taking on Michigan.
00:03This line, Joe, if I see it correctly, the look ahead was double digits.
00:07I'm seeing five and a halfs out here.
00:08I'm seeing a total around 50 and a half points.
00:11Michigan at home as the favorite.
00:13But my goodness, what's going on with this spread line?
00:15Right, Michigan at the big house, Donnie, and there has been nothing.
00:19This opened up around six and a half, and it has been all Washington money
00:24moving this thing down to right around the five, five and a half mark.
00:29And it doesn't look like it's slowing down.
00:32The public sees Michigan as that sort of favorite, seems to love them at home.
00:36But yeah, the Sharps seem to be thinking something else here.
00:41And with good reason.
00:42I mean, number one, you have a team like Washington, who is a dog,
00:47but they average 33 points per game, Donnie.
00:50This is a legit offense here that can score on anybody,
00:54which means as a dog, they should not have a problem putting up some points here.
00:59And we just watched USC put up points against this vaunted Michigan defense,
01:0331 to 13.
01:05They were only a three-point road dog there and couldn't get it done.
01:09So Washington enjoying the sharp money so far.
01:13It's kind of in that no man's land, if you're thinking Michigan, Donnie,
01:16because five, five and a half, it's no man's land for the books here.
01:21But it would be simply dog or pass for me because I don't know that you're going to get this influx of money
01:27pushing this number up closer to seven anymore at this point.
01:31You want a good game.
01:32You want to take a look at this weekend where so many things are up in the air.
01:35Have a Penn State and Iowa 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
01:39Penn State comes into this game as an underdog of roughly three points across the board
01:43and a total, which opened up around 45 and a half.
01:45The Drew Aller injury pushed that now down to 39 and a half, exactly where Iowa wants it.
01:50I'm going to say this.
01:51Penn State can do something fantastic.
01:53If they hire Keegan Michael Key to run out of that tunnel with Penn State and that football team,
01:58I'll be back right on their side, Joe.
02:00But the spread line for Penn State and Iowa could be many things.
02:04But what's it to you?
02:04I mean, listen, two and a half, maybe three is what we saw as a opening.
02:12And yet the public is rushing to the window, Donnie, to fade Penn State, who has now lost three straight, right?
02:20They just fired their head coach, James Franklin, just lost their starting quarterback, Drew Allard,
02:26who was season-ending injury.
02:27And yet all of these bets and nearly 70% of the spread bets, Donnie, have come in on Iowa here across the board.
02:35This line is still holding strong at minus three.
02:40So we have what we call a sharp line freeze here on the Nittany Lions.
02:45The public loves themselves to fade the Nittany Lions, but the pros are saying not so fast.
02:53I don't know that this number gets any better than what it is.
02:56I think three is the best you're going to get.
02:58If you can get a two and a half and you like Iowa, bet it now.
03:02If not, I think this is the best you're going to get here for this game.
03:06The Pirates and the Golden Hurricane tonight, people.
03:09College football kicks off at 7.30 p.m. Eastern.
03:12This line's sitting around 16.5 to 17.5, depending on where you're shopping at.
03:16And the total, that's around 54.5 to 53.5.
03:20Tulsa, East Carolina.
03:21Joe Ranieri, the spread line is what?
03:23Well, I love these Thursday night games and these smaller conferences, Donnie, because
03:28the public is not rushing to the window to play anything here, which means you can do
03:33yourself a little bit of homework and you can find yourself a little bit of value here.
03:39Now, listen, Tulsa, it's been a rough run here, but Tulsa's got a new head coach.
03:45They have a very good defense, Donnie.
03:47Defense, in fact, I believe third here, 35th rather in the nation in sacks, 15 sacks on
03:54the season for this Tulsa defense, which means they can get after the quarterback here, which
04:00means a little extra rest for Tulsa here.
04:0418 and a half points seems a little crazy.
04:07We just saw East Carolina, less rest.
04:09They lost to Tulane 26 to 19 in which they really got blown out.
04:15It was an empty netter at the end that made it seem close there, but this feels like
04:18entirely too many points on a Thursday night to expect a team like Tulsa who can play defense
04:24not to keep this game close.
04:27Come on now.
04:27College football Saturday this week is setting up for an all timer here.
04:31Why?
04:31Well, Miami Hurricanes don't actually play on Saturday here.
04:33It tells you how strong this weekend is with a Hurricanes game on Friday night, which we'll
04:37preview much more about that tomorrow as well on a football Friday.
04:41But Tennessee and Alabama look like Alabama was probably going to fire their head coach
04:45after game number one, an embarrassing performance against Florida State.
04:48They've righted that ship.
04:49Tennessee also a really good football team.
04:51This game is in Alabama at Tuscaloosa Bryant-Denny Stadium.
04:56Eight and a half is a favorite for Alabama, a total, which is up from the low 50s, Joe, to
04:59the high 50s.
05:00Now expectations are for points in this game.
05:04Alabama number six, Tennessee number 11.
05:06What do we got?
05:07It's kind of hard not to look at the points in the total in this game here, Donnie, right?
05:13Because we've seen both these teams put up some points here.
05:18We know Josh Heifel in Tennessee is all about, you know, up tempo, getting the ball out and
05:24scoring as many points as possible.
05:26It's not the greatest of Alabama defenses compared to their past championship teams, right?
05:33But offensively with Ty Simpson, one of the best pure passers in the game, the kid is
05:38turning out to be what could be the best quarterback in the country when it's all said and done
05:43this year.
05:45And Kalen DeBoer, you know him, he'll have no problem going up tempo and scoring with you.
05:49So yeah, I think the over is definitely in play in this spot in this game.
05:55Maybe even a team total over.
05:56So SC coming to the Midwest to the state of Indiana to take on the Notre Dame fighting
06:02Irish rain is in the forecast for this entire game could play a little bit into it 65 and
06:07a half is the totals, Joe down to 61 and a half.
06:10We'll see it gets by game time.
06:11The side opened up around that 10 and a half price point.
06:14It's below just about at every market at nine and a half to nine, depending where you're
06:18shopping at.
06:19Notre Dame needs another victory here to try to get into the college football play, but
06:22also at the same time, a huge game for number 20 USC.
06:26They pick up a win.
06:27They're starting to talk about playoffs, Joe.
06:30Well, here's the problem, right, Donnie?
06:32And we had talked about this on the spread lines this week.
06:34This is a de facto elimination game.
06:38Notre Dame can't have three losses, Donnie, and expect to make it to the college football
06:42player, right?
06:43USC, you're already lost to what is not a good look now to Illinois, which isn't great
06:50here, and you got to win a game on the road.
06:53I don't want to say this is must win, but to me, this is a limitation game for USC as
06:58well.
06:58If you go on the road and beat Notre Dame, then yes, you are absolutely considered a
07:04contender here for the championship.
07:06But if you get boat raced, which this spread is telling us they very well could, I think
07:12it's all she wrote for USC as well.
07:15Team total over for Notre Dame with me.
07:17I think Notre Dame lights this defense up.
07:20I love it.
07:21And by the way, you take a look at the teams that could be built better for rain, no better
07:24backfield in the country than what you see in Notre Dame and also an athletic young quarterback.
07:28We'll see how that plays out in South Bend.
07:30Big game, big rivalry weekend for sure.
07:33How about Ole Miss?
07:33They're going to go on the road between the hedges to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.
07:36330 start this Saturday, double digits at the opening line, Joe.
07:40They have now backed down to seven and a half.
07:42Chambliss coming to town with Ole Miss.
07:44They're number five, perfect storm at six and oh, Georgia five and one looking to make
07:50some hay in the SEC.
07:52Great football game over a touchdown favorite though.
07:55Do we trust Georgia in this game?
07:57Well, you know, you're going to hear a lot about this game and the, and the word revenge
08:02being used because don't forget, Georgia got bounced last year in Ole Miss against this,
08:08against this Ole Miss team.
08:10But again, this is not the same old Georgia team here.
08:14This is a, this is a Georgia defense, Donnie, that is great against the run.
08:19They're one of the top five run stopping defenses in the country.
08:23You're probably not running on them.
08:25Do we really think Lane Kiffin is going to try to run on them?
08:29Absolutely not.
08:30He is going to go over the top on them, which is the weakest part of this roster here.
08:35Would not shock me.
08:37Given the underrated value, I think that the Ole Miss defense has and the ability of them
08:42to be able to take advantage of that defensive weakness in the secondary of Georgia.
08:47Yeah, I'll take Ole Miss in this one.
08:49I think they, I think they got a puncher's chance for sure.
08:52How about another puncher's chance here in the SEC?
08:55I say, boy, oh boy, it just seems like this league from top to bottom just has haymakers
08:59each and every week.
09:00How about this one?
09:01LSU and Vanderbilt.
09:02Typically in the past, oh, what's LSU favored by 21 points on the road of Andy?
09:06Nope, not this time.
09:07Vandy, the favorite.
09:08At minus two and a half at just about every outlet you're looking at, a total of 48 and
09:12a half.
09:12Diego Pavia and the boys going up against Nussmeyer here and LSU.
09:16Does Vanderbilt have enough in the tank at five and one to knock off the five and one LSU Tigers?
09:22Donnie, I saw it was a ridiculous trend here just to show you how crazy this is, right?
09:29We already know LSU is ranked higher than Vanderbilt, right?
09:33But Vanderbilt has gone 176 games as a underdog against LSU.
09:41And now they're all of a sudden a favorite for the first time in a true 77 years, Donnie.
09:49It's been 77 years since they have been a favorite against LSU.
09:54You got to be kidding me.
09:56Absolutely kidding me.
09:57Yeah, no, I'm all for it, Donnie.
09:59I am all.
10:00Listen, the market is telling you, yes, forget about Vanderbilt being lower or, you know,
10:05the lower seated team here.
10:07They are in a spot to pull off the upset against an LSU team that quite honestly has not lived up
10:13to the Nussmeyer hype offensively here.
10:16I think Vandy can win this game outright.
10:18We had some spread lines earlier in the week talking about the Holy War.
10:21Utah and BYU, slight favorite to Utah on the road at minus three and a half points in a total
10:26listed at 49 and a half.
10:28BYU, we thought they're going to be a mess this year losing their quarterback,
10:31but still sitting there at 15th in the country going up against number 23, Utah.
10:35What gives in this game at BYU?
10:39Yeah, interesting line here, right?
10:41We had mentioned it, that this opened up at three, and right now, early on in the week,
10:46it's holding steady at three and a half, which I find fascinating, Donnie, because Utah has
10:52shown some cracks this year.
10:55BYU at home, the Holy War in a rival game, and yet the public hasn't necessarily gotten
11:00involved in this game, but I don't think there's a lot separating the level and the talent on these
11:07two teams.
11:08But I'll tell you this, an unbeaten team, 5-0 on the season, as a home dog, I will take that
11:15any day of the week, Donnie.
11:16I'll take the points with BYU at home.
11:18Yeah, interesting to see how this weekend plays out.
11:21Number one, Ohio State goes up against Wisconsin.
11:23Number two, Miami's taking on Louisville.
11:25That's a Friday night game.
11:26Number three now, newly minted in the Big Ten.
11:29Indiana takes on Michigan State, and slipping under the radar, it feels like right now, Joe,
11:34the number four team in the country is Texas A&M at 6-0.
11:37Probably going to pummel Arkansas, move to 7-0.
11:40So, you know, we're going to have a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little
