00:00Now let's sit down and talk a little spread lines coming to your table tonight.
00:04We've been high in college basketball and having a lot of fun with it.
00:07Joe told you, hey, look at this.
00:08Tough to go in the Mackey Arena, number one team in the country.
00:11Why is the spread so short?
00:12Don't worry about it.
00:13Just handle your business, Michigan, and they did.
00:15Gardner-Webb, on the other hand, Team Total Under, that one came in as well.
00:18So we are having some fun and being profitable in college basketball,
00:21but let's look at some of these spread lines tonight that you need to know.
00:24Let's head down, Joe, to the SEC, a 7 o'clock start from Bama.
00:28Arkansas comes to town, Coach Cal and the boys.
00:31This line currently sits at 3 1⁄2 to 4 1⁄2, depending on where you're shopping at right now live,
00:37and a total.
00:38I love this show.
00:401-83-1⁄2.
00:43Talk to me on this spread line.
00:45Yeah, good luck trying to sweat out an under in this one here, Donnie.
00:49But the ironic thing is that these two teams are mirrors of one another,
00:53and I mean mirrors of one another.
00:55All of the statistics are pretty much the same.
00:59I mean, look at who Alabama has beaten over the last couple of months.
01:03They beat Illinois.
01:04They beat St. John's.
01:05They beat Auburn, right?
01:06Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Tennessee, all beaten by Arkansas.
01:11They have lost games they should not have lost,
01:14and they won games a lot of people didn't think they were going to win here.
01:18Combined, Donnie, they own 11 quad one wins, these two teams here.
01:22So, what's going to happen tonight?
01:24No defense, a million points.
01:27The line opened up last night at 3 1⁄2.
01:29We're seeing fours right now, 4 1⁄2s for the home team there in Alabama.
01:35And call me crazy, Donnie.
01:36This might be one of the most fun games that you are going to see all week long here.
01:41Do not blink, Donnie, because you are going to miss about 20 points in a two-minute span.
01:46These two teams are going to go at it here tonight.
01:49No defense, nothing but scoring.
01:51Both teams expected to approach 90 points for their team totals.
01:55A lot of fun in the SEC tonight.
01:57Let's flip it over to the ACC.
01:59Joe Clemson going to invade Wake Forest tonight.
02:01This game is going to start at 7 o'clock.
02:03This line opened up overnight around those 4 1⁄2 ranges,
02:05but now we're seeing in the marketplace, Joe,
02:073 1⁄2 across the board as a favorite still towards the Clemson Tigers.
02:11A total of 138 1⁄2.
02:13You take a look at 18 teams in ACC play.
02:16The worst rebounding team on defense, it's Wake Forest.
02:18The 17th effective field goal percentage on defense, it's Wake Forest here.
02:23Clemson might have some extra opportunities, Joe,
02:25but what is your spread line for this game for Clemson and Wake?
02:28Well, I mean, listen, Wake Forest NCAA tournament hopes are pretty much done here.
02:34But Clemson, on the other hand, Clemson had a little bit of a West Coast hangover
02:38when they returned back, Donnie, because they've lost their last couple of games here.
02:43Not an easy place to play, and Wake Forest has actually shown up
02:47and given teams much better than them some fits on their own home court.
02:52So Clemson has to get back in the W column here.
02:56This is a tricky game for them, but it's one, Donnie,
03:00that if they make a couple of shots here,
03:02they should not have a problem limiting Wake Forest.
03:06It's a cheap price simply because of how Clemson,
03:09well, they haven't looked good since they've come back from the West Coast.
03:12And let's take advantage of that here tonight and jump all over them over Wake.
03:17Got a pretty good statistic coming up here in this next SEC rivalry here,
03:21Vanderbilt taking on Missouri.
03:22On the road, Vanderbilt is a favorite, Joe, of minus 4.5 and a total of 153.5.
03:27That matchup I'm talking about, how about in-conference play?
03:29Vanderbilt's offense, the best free-throw shooting team in conference play, Joe,
03:33at 79% as a team.
03:35Going up against the worst free-throw shooting team in the SEC at 66.9%.
03:41Could that be the difference?
03:43We'll find out because, by the way, both of these teams do get to the free-throw line.
03:46Vanderbilt and Missouri, Joe, what's your spread line tonight?
03:49You know, I don't get Missouri.
03:52They should be – I don't know.
03:54It feels like every time I turn around,
03:56there's a disappointing loss for Dennis Gates and Missouri here.
03:59But they shoot 53% or better from two.
04:03They shoot 33% or better from three in every game.
04:06They're 36-5.
04:08You would think, Donnie, that this is a team that when they shoot well, they win games.
04:15Now, Vandy has had a couple of clunkers along the way,
04:18and Vandy's not going to play a ton of defense here.
04:21So, does Missouri have an opportunity to have one of those good shooting games here?
04:26The market seems to think so here, Donnie, a little bit.
04:30I thought this number might be a little bit higher.
04:32It might still get there.
04:34But right now, Missouri at home has a really good shot at getting a big win,
04:39one that they're going to need here if they're going to head to March Madness.
04:43Injuries could play a big deal in this next game here in Arizona.
04:47Looking to sort of bounce back and continue the dominant season,
04:49shake off a couple losses here.
04:51BYU comes to town as an 11-and-a-half-point underdog.
04:54You might look at that and be like, that's kind of crazy the way it sits there.
04:57165-and-a-half is a total.
04:58But Richie Saunders, that superstar player for BYU,
05:01down for the season with an ACL tear.
05:03That's going to hurt them tonight.
05:04And also, Arizona, the number one most efficient defense in conference play.
05:08Number one at defending the three-point line.
05:10Number one defending inside the arc.
05:12Arc points might be tough to come by for BYU tonight, Joe.
05:14But that's still a double-digit spread.
05:16What's your spread line here for this one?
05:19Yeah, this is kind of crazy, right?
05:2112-point line.
05:22And we were just talking about BYU and this game against Arizona as,
05:26oh boy, look out.
05:27But Arizona, you know, came off a loss.
05:30And now all of a sudden, what a big loss for BYU.
05:34I mean, Richie Saunders has basically, when he blew out his ACL there,
05:39most all of these statistical databases, Donnie,
05:43have dropped them almost 25 spots across the board.
05:47That's huge.
05:48And if that's really true, then how is this not closer to 17 or 18 points here?
05:54So we might be overestimating how bad BYU is going to be without him.
06:00You know, don't forget, you lose the star player,
06:01you're going to get a big effort here from BYU and DeBansta.
06:05So it wouldn't shock me if they hang around this game and stay within this number.
06:10Yeah, sometimes you like those, the first true game without one of your star players,
06:13so you can sort of rise to the case.
06:15Now the team doesn't really know how you're going to factor in
06:16or what players you're going to use.
06:17And then you sort of get that lull after.
06:19It's almost effective.
06:20Hey, we just fired our head coach.
06:21We're a bad team.
06:22Whoa, we just won here.
06:23Because sometimes you get that little bump.
06:25We'll see if they get that.
06:26Or at least enough of bump, Joe, to cover here.
06:28Illinois going to take on USC on the road here.
06:30Almost a double-digit favorite, Joe, across the board.
06:33Nine-and-a-halves at most outlets here in a total of 151-and-a-half.
06:36Illinois brings the Big Ten's most efficient offense to town to take on SC.
06:41Is that enough to get a 10-point road coverage, Joe?
06:43What's your spread line tonight?
06:44Yeah, and USC is a weird one too, Donnie,
06:47because they are ranked as the 137th best offense at home.
06:54What?
06:54What is that all about?
06:56So either there is going to be a huge positive regression for USC in this game tonight,
07:00or Illinois is going to win by 30.
07:03It's going to be one or the other.
07:05USC is not that bad.
07:06They should be better at home.
07:08I'm expecting a fight from Muscleman and USC here tonight.
07:11Here's the tough part too.
07:13Illinois doesn't fail.
07:14USC loves to get to the free throw line.
07:16Let's see which one wins that battle tonight.
07:18College basketball here heating up.
07:20And again, getting closer and closer to selection Sunday.
07:22And away we go into March Madness and also the month of March here.
07:26Roughly coming up in under two weeks.
07:28Say it ain't so.
07:29Time moves fast here.
07:30But how about this?
07:31Time needs to move a little bit faster on the healing of Tar Heels' Caleb Wilson.
07:36I was going to say Tar Heels' Hubert Davis here.
07:37Hubert Davis gave an injury update there on Caleb Williams after his fractured left hand last week against Miami.
07:43Oof, man.
07:44Get back sooner than later, Joe.
07:46Well, at least they are expecting him back, which is what that sounded like here, Donnie.
07:51And they're going to need him after an NC State boat raced him 82-58 last night.
07:57I mean, just not a good spot for North Carolina.
08:00They got crushed.
08:02And NC State was just chomping at the bit given the fact that they have one of their big man,
08:07of course,
08:07is a former North Carolina player who was made a big deal of that North Carolina didn't play him.
08:13They don't know what they're doing.
08:14He had everybody had a big night for NC State.
08:17So North Carolina needs their leader back sooner rather than later.
08:21That was one of those games, Joe, you looked at and said, hold on now.
08:24Ranked team going on the road against an unranked team.
08:26How many points is NC State favored by?
08:28And look at that final score, 82-58, a complete whitewashing there.
08:31I'll tell you where else was a whitewashing last night.
08:33It seems like any UCLA or, let's just say, USC team that has to come east and go to the
08:39state of Michigan,
08:40they get thumped.
08:41And that's exactly what happened last night.
08:42Let's hear from Mick Cronin.
08:43What was your thought on the student section, Channing Booker's name?
08:47I could give a rat's ass about the other team's student section.
08:50I just meant overall the way that you concerned.
08:52I would like to give you a kudos for the worst question I've ever been asked.
09:00All right.
09:01Did you like the preparation of the preparation of the preparation?
09:04Do you really think I care about the other team's student section?
09:06No, I don't think you care about the other team's.
09:07Are you raising your voice at me?
09:08No, I'm sorry.
09:09Yeah, you are.
09:09Yeah, you are.
09:10Come on, dude.
09:11No reason.
09:12Come on.
09:12Yes, you are.
09:13Everybody's standing here listening to you.
09:15Everybody.
09:15This is on camera.
09:16They can hear you.
09:17I answered the question.
09:18I could give a rat's ass about the other team's student section.
09:22I coach UCLA.
09:23I don't care about Michigan State students.
09:26I mean, who cares?
09:27The preparation.
09:29The passive-aggressive fantasticness right there of Mick Cronin was sensational
09:33because the reporter asked him a question, and he wasn't raising his voice.
09:37But to turn it back on the reporter, like, are you raising your voice to me?
09:39And then have the reporter backtrack.
09:41That is a master class.
09:43If you're getting fucked in a basketball game, I love it, man.
09:46More Mick Cronin for me, man.
09:47Come on.
09:48I'm telling the guy, he is a walking meme, Connie.
09:52He is the best for college basketball, not to mention his own player that he threw out
09:59of the game yesterday, ejected, was Steven Jamerson, who, by the way, happened to be a
10:04former Michigan State student, but because he was called for that flagrant foul late because
10:10he didn't like being, you know, destroyed by 30 points, and Cronin throws him out.
10:15Absolutely priceless, this guy.
10:17UCLA, you need to give him a raise.
10:19You need to give him a raise.
10:21By the way, Izzo, on the other side, after the game, he had a funny post-game press conference
10:25as well, talking about, I'd never seen a coach upgrade a flagrant one to a flagrant two by
10:29himself and eject his own player.
10:31You had it all last night, and that absolute thumping here.
10:33But let's get back to the ACC, Joe, because NC State now improved the 10-4 in the ACC after
10:37an 82-58 win over North Carolina.
10:40NC State won short of 20 wins.
10:42North Carolina already had 20 wins.
10:44But as I said, needing to get back one of their better players here from a broken left hand.
10:47But NC State was impressive last night, and the oddsmakers probably thought they would
10:51have been, and they were.
10:52Well, I mean, we saw that it was 6, Donnie, yesterday in the morning when we talked about
10:58it in the spread lines.
10:59I think it closed 7 1⁄2.
11:01And there was also some questions as far as whether the other big man for North Carolina
11:06was actually going to play.
11:08Because don't forget, it wasn't just, it wasn't just Gale Wilson.
11:12Visar was also questionable in that game there.
11:16And if I'm not mistaken, yeah, the minute he was, you know, announced as not playing for
11:21North Carolina, boy, that line started to shoot up here.
11:25But if you want to talk about entertaining coaches, you watch Will Wade on the sideline of
11:29a North Carolina State game.
11:31That is one of the most entertaining coaches in all of college basketball.
11:35The guy flies off the handle like nobody else.
11:39It's fantastic to watch, Donnie.
11:41It is.
11:42I'll tell you what else is fantastic to watch.
11:43Michigan at Purdue yesterday.
11:45If you are Michigan, you want to come into town as the number one team, and you want to
11:48take the crowd out of it.
11:49How about 48 points scored in the first half to take a 16-point lead in a double-digit victory?
11:54They got a little bit tense in the second half, but Michigan was the better team through
11:57and through.
11:58Dropped 91 on Purdue.
11:59Number one team moves on in the Big Ten at 15-1.
12:04The length, size, and athleticism of Michigan, Donnie, it was just, it was heads and tails
12:11over Purdue.
12:13I can't tell you the amount of second, third, and fourth chance points off of missed shots
12:19that Michigan got by getting offensive rebound after offensive rebound after offensive rebound,
12:25and that is why they were up by more than 20 at one point in the first half.
12:31And it just, that was it.
12:33I mean, Purdue was never going to come back in that game, especially given the size and
12:39the rebounding of Michigan.
12:41They are a force right now.
12:44I'll tell you who is a force right now.
12:46At 26-0 and 13-0 in the MAAC.
12:49We ended the show yesterday saying, ooh, I wonder if the Miami Red Hawks are going to
12:52pick up that victory.
12:53We'll tell you about that more tomorrow.
12:54We're telling about it now.
12:5586-77 victory.
12:57I like the team total for Miami of Ohio, and I'm going to assume, Joe, 86 was enough to
13:02get it done last night with a 41-point first half and a 45-point second half, and also
13:07dropped 10 triples on the road in that victory.
13:10One of those last hurdles, as you said, Joe, to a perfect season.
13:14Yeah, on the road.
13:15I mean, they have five games remaining, Donnie, at this point.
13:18And of those five, three of them are on the road.
13:23But this, by far, was the stiffest test, I think, that they have remaining here.
13:29So, the sky's looking up.
13:32I mean, this was a two-point win at home against this team a couple of weeks ago.
13:36They go on the road in their building, and they beat the snot out of them.
13:40So, yeah, they seem to, the pressure doesn't seem to be getting to the Red Hawks here.
13:45How about the pressure of tonight's action in the SEC?
13:48A big card here, which deals with, again, we talked about this on the opening spread lines here, Joe.
13:52Arkansas and Alabama, three-and-a-half to four-and-a-half, depending on where you're shopping at right now.
13:56But a 183-and-a-half total in this basketball game is sensational.
14:01Both of these teams get up and down the court.
14:03Effective field goal percentage is fantastic.
14:05Scoring from the three-point line, scoring from inside the arc, you're going to get everything you need.
14:09But also, sometimes, Joe, people look at that 183, and it's almost like you say to yourself,
14:13that's a stone-cold over line because most people are like, 183, I'm just going to take the under and
14:18see where it sits.
14:19And then you go, whoa, 105-100 final.
14:22Good luck to that.
14:24Listen, you go to Ken Palm, you go to Evan Meyer, you go to any, you know, ratings, you know,
14:30company here,
14:31and both of these teams are nearly identical offensively and defensively here.
14:37And when you consider the fact that both of these teams combined have scored 100 or more points 11 times
14:43this year, Donnie,
14:44and they've allowed 90 or more points 13 times combined here to the competition,
14:50there is no defense being played in this game here tonight.
14:53I can assure you of that.
14:55Take a look at BYU and Arizona, Joe.
14:57We talked about this earlier as well.
14:58An 11-and-a-half point spread here for Arizona is the home favorite.
15:01A total of 165-and-a-half.
15:03Arizona, back-to-back losses here.
15:05Last time they played BYU when BYU was healthy, that was a three-point victory for Arizona.
15:10But now we're looking at the double digits because Saunders is down.
15:13But also understand this.
15:14Teams do adapt and adjust here.
15:15And you do have a lottery pick or maybe the number one overall pick in the NBA draft on your
15:20team.
15:20It's not a dead throwaway game.
15:22But Arizona looks to bounce back in a big way tonight, Joe.
15:26But it is a double-digit spread.
15:27It is.
15:28And listen, you're going to learn a lot on whether or not Richie Saunders truly was worthy of the 20
15:35-25 spot drop in the rankings here across the board.
15:41I'm shocked it's still at 12, Donnie, because if that drop is warranted, then I don't know how they're not
15:48a 17, 18, 19-point favorite.
15:51If BYU loses this game by more than 20, Donnie, I think it's panic mode there in Provo.
15:58That's for sure.
15:59I'd say it's panic mode here in Marquette.
16:01What happened to Marquette basketball?
16:02It was one of those Big East teams that you can have a backbone out there and in the top
16:0525 year-to-year-to-year not playing good this year.
16:08They're going to take on St. John's.
16:09But St. John's is the road team in this game tonight, Joe, but close to a double-digit favorite for
16:13the Johnnies as well and a 156-and-a-half total tonight.
16:17Yeah, try not to get into a fight, St. John's.
16:20That's all I'm going to say is try to keep everyone in the game, and they should be absolutely fine.
16:27Listen, Marquette and Shaka Smart, they are not good, Donnie.
16:30They are just not good.
16:32What happened to Shaka Smart?
16:33Can we get Shaka back at VCU and restart VCU's team as well?
16:37Let's go back to the futures, as we like to say on this program.
16:40Also, the way we get down to business, Joe, giving people college basketball winners like we did yesterday on a
16:452-0 sweep.
16:45Here's bye-bye-bye.
16:52Take us away, Joe.
16:54Where do we go?
16:55Well, listen, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
16:59And the one thing that is broke is people who continue to bet UConn as double-digit favorites when all
17:06they do is play with their food, Donnie.
17:09Connecticut has been awful this year as a double-digit favorite, and guess what they are tonight against Creighton?
17:16Yeah, 16-and-a-half points they are laying.
17:19Now, listen, are they better than Creighton?
17:21Of course they are.
17:22They've been better than any team that they have played as a double-digit favorite.
17:26The problem is they're 5-and-13 against the number when they are a double-digit favorite this year.
17:33They continue to play with fire week in and week out, Donnie.
17:37So, sooner or later, they're going to get burnt.
17:39Does that mean they lose this game?
17:41I don't know.
17:42Does it mean that they're going to win it by more than 16-and-a-half?
17:45No, they don't.
17:46If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
17:48Take the points.
17:49Way to go ahead and take a look at the Missouri Valley Conference for my next appearance here, Joe.
17:53Gardner-Webb yesterday, Missouri Valley today.
17:55Northern Iowa is going to take on Indiana State.
17:57Do you know, Joe, Indiana State's offense absolutely stinks.
18:00Tenth in the conference play out of 11 at turning the basketball over.
18:03They don't rebound well, and they don't get to the free-throw line.
18:05And when they do get to the free-throw line, they're dead-lasting conference play at 64%.
18:09But NIU on defense, number one in defensive rebounding, number one at not fouling,
18:13and number one at defending the three-point line.
18:16We're not getting any points today from Indiana State.
18:18Take their team total.
18:19Ooh, look at how low it is.
18:20Don't you worry.
18:2165-and-a-half.
18:22Cash and tickets, 2-0 again tonight.
18:25Those are the expectations for Joe Ranieri and Donnie right side.
18:28See you bright and early once again tomorrow morning.
