00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's a chilly start to the day with some drier weather, if not some sunshine, but showers from the word go across western Scotland, a keen breeze towards the northwest.
00:13These showers just filing in across the north and the west of Northern Ireland.
00:17Inland with some brighter weather, a quiet start with some sunshine coming through, but the cloud will build, particularly across Scotland as we head through the morning into the afternoon,
00:26with a scattering of showers and perhaps one or two further south, but you will see drier weather again, some brighter weather coming through as the cloud just drifts across the sky.
00:36Later on though, thickening clouds across South Wales, the west country, central southern England, with the onset of some rain here, heralding a change in our weather through Thursday.
00:44Before that though, temperatures rising to around 11 to 15 Celsius, so relatively cool, particularly exposed to the wind towards the far northwest.
00:53Now as we head through Wednesday night and into Thursday, this feature arrives from the southwest, bringing with it outbreaks of rain and also strong winds.
01:03The rain will turn heavy into Thursday morning and with that, the onset of some weather warnings, a rain warning covering much of England as well as the south of Wales,
01:14a wind warning across the north coast of Devon, Cornwall as well as West Wales, and a wind warning also for eastern counties.
01:20Now gusts along this east coast here could reach 65 miles an hour with some high waves, and those winds continue into Thursday evening, extending towards eastern parts of Scotland.
01:30So here's that wet weather as we start the day, wet and windy conditions across much of England and Wales, clipping the far south of Northern Ireland,
01:37some showers moving in across eastern counties of Scotland, and showers filing in also on a strong wind towards Northern Ireland as well as Western Scotland.
01:45But the rain will be persistent across eastern counties head through the afternoon, and let's just pick up on that wind, a driving wind down the north and east coast there.
01:55And with that, yes, that rain will really cause some problems if you're travelling through the afternoon.
01:59The rain clears Wales as well as the west country, but showers will continue to move in on that strong wind, and more showers developing and moving across Northern Ireland through the latter part of the day.
02:10Dryest weather perhaps the far north of Scotland, but across eastern Scotland you'll continue to see a thickening cloud and also some showery bursts as we head through evening time.
02:20Temperatures will struggle, 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
02:23Eventually, the rain clears towards the North Sea through Friday morning into the afternoon.
02:29Showers though file in on a cold wind.
02:32The wind's coming in from the north, and it will be strong at times, particularly across central and eastern areas through the afternoon into Saturday.
02:40So temperatures struggling into the weekend.
02:42You can see these blues really covering most of the country, and again the chance of some showers.
02:47However, all change again as we head through Sunday and into Monday.
02:50The wind's ease for a time towards the west there, Northern Ireland as well as Wales, before this system slides in through Sunday.
02:57You can see there clouds and also outbreaks of rain.
03:00So all in all, yes, the weather turns quite inclement through Thursday, lively conditions, and then we return to showers and colder weather on Saturday into Sunday as more rain arrives from the northwest.
03:12Wherever you are, take care, have a good day, and I'll see you again soon.
