00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Today we are seeing some showers, particularly across Scotland, a few further south,
00:09associated with a complex area of low pressure extending from the northwest of Scotland towards Iceland.
00:15It's slow moving, these showers will be a bit of a breeze as well coming through
00:20before we see some fine weather before more cloud and rain arrives from the west
00:26through the latter part of this afternoon and into evening time.
00:30Through this morning you may run into Sir Rain for Caithness as well as Aberdeenshire
00:35for the showers across much of western and central Scotland, they could cluster together.
00:39A few showers particularly clipping the north of Northern Ireland, one or two for northern England
00:43as well as Wales, but notice there's some drier skies anywhere from southern Scotland southwards
00:48and you'll also see some brighter weather coming through, so this batch of showers clearing by around 6am
00:54and then yes, a few showers likely through the day.
00:57These showers will be more persistent across more northern and western areas, quite a brisk breeze here
01:03even with the odd rumble of thunder.
01:05But by around lunchtime many areas seeing some hazy sunshine, some brighter breaks,
01:11a few showers just drifting across central and southern parts of England and Wales
01:15and further scattered showers across northern and eastern areas of Scotland
01:19as that cloud thickens across Northern Ireland, Wales as well as the west country
01:24and you could see the onset of some rain for Cornwall, Devon and Somerset
01:28through the latter part of this afternoon.
01:30Let's look at those temperatures then, well it's mid-teens for eastern and central Scotland,
01:3516, 17 anywhere from Lincolnshire down towards Suffolk.
01:39Further west in Shelter, yes, with some brighter breaks before the clouds thickens for Northern Ireland,
01:4415 degrees Celsius and a 16 for mid Wales as well as the Midlands.
01:48So let's watch the progress of this rain as it extends across.
01:53Through this evening still those showers continuing across northern and central Scotland
01:59and here's that warm front moving in, bringing with it a brisk wind, outbreaks of rain by mid-evening
02:05for Northern Ireland, Isle of Man seeing some rain as it extends towards the centre of western Scotland
02:10by around midnight, the rain covering much of northern parts of Wales by this point
02:14as well as eastern and northeastern areas of England.
02:18Behind it, yes, we could see one or two showers yet again, we're in a warm sector here,
02:22this is the cold front moving in through the latter part of the night, bringing some heavier pulses of rain
02:27and also stronger winds to Northern Ireland and North Channel as well as Irish Sea coasts into Friday morning.
02:33But temperatures holding up into Friday, you're likely to see 8 to 10 degrees Celsius generally
02:40and this batch of rain here will edge from the west towards the east as we head through the day,
02:45weakening all the while but certainly through Friday morning there could be the odd heavier pulse of rain.
02:52So here's that warm front, there's the cold front, the air is relatively mild in between
02:57and if you catch any breaks, not feeling too bad through the day.
03:00By around mid-morning, you can see the rain has arrived across much of Scotland, northern England,
03:06extending down towards Wales as well as the west country.
03:08Behind it, you'll see showers and again that fresh wind further south and east, yes,
03:15some brighter breaks, some hazy sunshine coming through.
03:18By lunchtime, the rain would have cleared western Scotland with showers to follow.
03:22You can see the rain tending to become more fragmented along the front as we head through the afternoon
03:27and here are your temperatures.
03:2812, 13 across northern and western Scotland, 14 for Northern Ireland, so a fresher feel to things.
03:35Further south and east, we'll get 17 or 18 ahead of that weather front.
03:39Behind it, though, temperature taking a bit of a dive, so for west Wales, probably around 13 Celsius.
03:44That weather front clears off the scene.
03:46That area of low pressure, again, still delivering showery bursts into Saturday morning.
03:52A colder start to the day, we could even see a touch of frost
03:55and we are likely to see a ridge of high pressure extending across from the south-west,
04:00allowing for a fine day on Sunday.
04:02One or two residual showers towards the far north.
04:04Elsewhere, a drier day with some sunny spells.
