13 May - National morning forecast presented by Clare Nasir.
Transcript
00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Wednesday morning, which is cool and showery.
00:06The air is unstable, so we'll see some heavy downpours today with the risk of hail and thunder.
00:11And they could cluster together to form longer spells of rain.
00:14Low pressure still in charge through Wednesday into Thursday.
00:17The air is cool coming in from a chilly direction.
00:21Further showers likely then through Thursday.
00:23And yet again, some heavy thundery downpours can't be ruled out.
00:26And then the winds pick up further across the north and the east of Scotland.
00:30And that's where the showers will be distributed through Friday with a quieter spell attempting to push in from the
00:35west.
00:36Now through this morning, you may run into a heavy downpour.
00:39Again, the risk of thunder as we head through the day.
00:42Some hail mixed in there.
00:43And where you catch a heavy shower, the winds will pick up and turn quite gusty.
00:48Certainly a fresh wind through the morning into the afternoon across western Scotland, Northern Ireland as well as Wales.
00:54So quieter weather possibly in terms of showers.
00:57There'll be fewer showers towards the west country through the afternoon.
01:00But they will cluster together towards the east.
01:02And here there's a higher likelihood we'll see the risk of thunder and some lightning.
01:08Temperatures then struggling 11 to 14 degrees Celsius.
01:11And those heavy showers will continue through this evening.
01:14So it's worth noting if you are travelling, you may run into some quite heavy downpours.
01:19The risk of poor visibility and some strong winds associated with them.
01:23And they will gradually sink southwards as we head through this evening and overnight and into Thursday.
01:29Through Thursday though, we continue with that cold northerly wind.
01:32And this wind will deliver further showery downpours through the morning into the afternoon.
01:38Perhaps some dry weather to start the day across the spine of the country.
01:43Showers continue towards the east.
01:44Some showers running in on that brisk breeze across Wales as well as the west country.
01:49And they'll be frequent across Northern Ireland, central and northern areas, Scotland through the day.
01:53But with the help of the sun, as it gets to work, it's strong at this time of year.
01:57They're likely to develop in situ as well.
01:59So through the morning into the afternoon tomorrow, expect again some heavy showers with thunder and hail.
02:06And temperatures similar to today, coming in 10 to 13 degrees Celsius.
02:11So that's a picture on Thursday.
02:13They'll continue through Thursday evening.
02:14Now through into Friday morning, notice this low pressure sitting towards Scandinavia, causing a squeeze on the ice bars across
02:21this eastern side.
02:23And that really will be a feature of the weather through Friday.
02:25Through Thursday evening, then you can see those showers tending to fade away, becoming, or scattered, I'd say.
02:32However, a little rain clipping Shetland through the night and those winds starting to pick up some strength.
02:38Those showers along the eastern side into Friday morning.
02:42Some brighter weather possible towards the west.
02:44One or two showers lurking out there, but some drier weather coming through.
02:48Temperatures up a notch, possibly 13, 14, perhaps even 15 degrees Celsius.
02:52And that leads into a quieter start to the weekend.
02:55A chilly one, a touch of frost in places.
02:57Through the day, we'll see some drier weather, some lighter winds, one or two showers before a bank of cloud.
03:03And some showery rain moves in from the west.
03:05I'll see you later.
