00:04Temperatures are on the up. The air is warming up from the south as we head
00:08through the week. The peak of heat probably is going to be Thursday across
00:12the central belt of Scotland.
00:13High pressure sits across the North Sea. We've got fronts grazing more northern
00:17and western areas. The rain could pep up on Thursday
00:21as we see some heavier showers just moving again across central
00:24northern and western areas hanging on to dry weather further south and east
00:27and then we lose that intense heat through Friday as a cold front clears
00:31and we'll see a scattering of showers and also a blustery breeze.
00:35A pleasant evening to come though through Monday.
00:38Quite a brisk breeze across Shetland, Orkney, one or two
00:41showers here and a little rain drifts in from the
00:44southwest through the night. So spits and spots in the breeze
00:48more cloud, low cloud at that, a bit damp in places
00:51and overnight we could see a little rain then grazing the far northwest.
00:55For most though, it's a dry end to the night, a bit cooler towards the north.
00:58We hang on to some higher temperatures further south, so a mild start to the day.
01:03And for some, some brighter moments but a fair amount of cloud first thing on Tuesday.
01:09Notice this rain across the northwest highlands, perhaps the Murray Firth up towards
01:13Caith Ness, a few showers for Shetland, drier skies anywhere from the central belt
01:17southwards. But the rain tends to fade away by around lunchtime across many areas as it slowly
01:23extends towards Shetland. So a fine afternoon to come with some sunshine coming through,
01:28a mix of clouds and sun. One or two residual showers though for the Western Isles and temperatures
01:32further south, 22-23 degrees Celsius. So that's the picture on Tuesday afternoon.
01:38Through Tuesday evening, temperatures holding up. The air will be warmer overnight, so not as
01:43cool as we start the day on Wednesday towards the north. Notice this rain is still towards the west of
01:48Scotland, but it could clip the Western Isles through the night. Some showery bursts and one or two
01:53showers possible further east where the cloud is thick enough. Into Wednesday morning then, some
01:59brighter moments to start the day towards the east. A mild start as well. And a breeze coming in from
02:04the
02:04south, quite brisk at times along the coastline. Inland, a lighter wind. First thing then on Wednesday
02:10morning, here's that showery rain again across more northern and western areas. A few showers maybe drift across from
02:17England as well through lunchtime. But for many, it's a fine afternoon as we lose the intensity of those
02:23showers, becoming all scattered towards the northwest. Sunny spells coming through and temperatures are
02:28likely to be higher. So highest temperatures Central Belt southwards 25-26 Celsius. Warm further north as
02:34well. The Murray Firth coming in 23-24 Celsius. Aberdeenshire and we'll see the high teens across
02:38Orkney as well as the Outer Hebrides. That showery rain continues particularly into Thursday. The odd heavier
02:46pulse can't be ruled out. And then this cold front clears eastwards into Sunday, allowing for some
02:52fresher air and also these showers which could be just scattered as they move across the country with
02:57quite a breeze. Before that though, let's take a look at what's happening on Thursday. Some
03:02showery rain across the north as well as the west. You'll see more clouds here. Elsewhere, some fine
03:06weather, some sunshine coming through and top temperature probably peaking on Thursday at 27 degrees
