00:00Hello there, welcome to a Wednesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04The air remains unstable with showers, a brisk breeze at times, the weather is coming in from
00:11the west and that will produce some cloud and also some rain as we head through to Thursday.
00:16Before that though, today you can see some sharp showers likely, here's that rain moving
00:20in for Thursday, so some wet weather covering most of the country as it extends eastwards
00:25through the day with some showers to follow and a fresh wind through Thursday and into
00:30Friday.
00:31If you are travelling first thing this morning, you may run into a shower, there's quite a
00:35few around and they could be heavy through the morning and as the sun gets to work they
00:40will develop in situ as well.
00:42So some heavier downpours are likely through the afternoon even with the odd rumble of thunder,
00:46but they will become more scattered across the west through the latter part of the day,
00:50a little sunshine coming through in between.
00:52Temperatures then, probably the mid teens generally, we could see an 18 down towards
00:57the home counties, but through this evening again you could encounter a heavier downpour
01:02as we head through into night time.
01:05Through the night time though, the cloud thickens from the west and this brings with it the prospect
01:09of more rain.
01:10A more persistent band of wet weather arrives into the early hours of Thursday morning for
01:15Northern Ireland, eclips Wales and marches towards Western Scotland as the sun rises.
01:20Through the morning then, you'll see temperatures fall to probably seven to nine degrees Celsius
01:25at the very lowest, so a milder start to the day relative to this morning, which is rather
01:29chilly out there first thing.
01:31So through a Thursday morning, we watch as this rain arrives and continues its passage northwards.
01:38A few showers for Shetland, but some brighter skies here, hazy sunshine for Orkney, but notice
01:43this rain continues to pile in as we head through into the afternoon.
01:47Some showery bursts to follow, some low cloud associated with it as well.
01:51The air will be slightly milder through the afternoon and into evening time across more
01:55western areas, allowing temperatures to reach probably 17 to 18 Celsius.
02:00That rain clears into Friday, a fresh wind, some showery bits and pieces are likely through
02:06Friday, but some brighter skies in shelter towards the east.
02:09And into Saturday, we continue with some showers across Scotland, but high pressure builds from
02:13the west as well as the south.
02:14And that will herald some warmer weather, some drier conditions, if not some sunshine as that
02:20high pressure builds and gradually drifts across the country.
02:23So for the weekend, it is looking better.
02:26Certainly there will be more on the way of sunshine around.
02:28Top temperatures on Saturday, probably 20 across Scotland and Northern Ireland, 27 down towards
02:33the southeast of England.
02:34Have a lovely day and I'll see you again soon.
