00:00hey guys welcome back to the business once again this is your host Andy Gamer

00:06and today I'm gonna be talking about enemy talk about a good enemy that came

00:13out and it overstayed its welcome and basically ruined itself so yeah

00:21today I'm gonna be looking at one in particular there's actually a few of them

00:27that actually meets the criteria first video but I'm gonna be looking at one in

00:32particular and that is Pokemon now if you guys don't know Pokemon is basically like

00:40the most popular enemy in the world right now and it's been that way like ever

00:46since the early 2000s you know after the video game got popular and I think

00:53Pokemon is one of the rare instances where the video game was so popular they

00:59made anime based off the video game and the other merchandise you know as whereas

01:05other enemies they get made after the manga comes out that gets popular so yeah this

01:13was the case with Pokemon there's one of the rare exceptions where the

01:16merchandising you know the toys and all the more stuff get really popular when it

01:21came out of and they just went down to me and yes you know the drill I am a OG

01:29Pokemon fan I have been a fan of it since I was a kid like like way way back

01:36watching Pokemon TV the old one the first season with all the Pokemons and Brock and

01:42those are the characters you know and I know a lot of people say oh that's what they

01:50all say you know every anime and such but let's be real you know the recent

01:58stuff in Pokemon can top the old one you know the concept is really simple I mean

02:04Ash Ketchum he gets Pikachu and then he go on adventure and collects other Pokemon and

02:11then he travels through the cities to collect all his gem patches I mean it was a pretty good

02:17adventure the first time around now after like what the tenth the duration of it you

02:25know doing the same thing again that's what like you know some different

02:28characters different animation style some more up-to-date riding with you know

02:34more current pop culture references yeah gets really tired Pokemon is one of those

02:43rare anime that has ended up transcending the genre to the point where it's like you

02:52know world-renowned household franchise like there's even some people out there

02:59that think Pokemon is just a regular cartoon that's how popular is it be there

03:05still people who don't know it's an anime but they still watch it you know and

03:11that's how well it blended in with um you know in society you know I'd say um but for me you

03:23know looking at it growing up um I'd probably have to say from my experience and this might be

03:32different for people across the board but from my experience I think the franchise started going

03:37still after Pokemon diamond and pull series I think you know they had the diamond and pull then they

03:46went into platinum edition it was sometime after that I checked off completely because

03:53at that point I was like like really because you know you start to see exactly what was going on

04:00they're just basically you know going back to doing the same routine stuff if there's a saying you

04:07know they have the saying if it ain't broke don't fix it well in the case of Pokemon I'd say they

04:13should just turn it off and just left it after Pokemon Platinum series even the video games too I mean I know they still want to continue the video games that's

04:25basically a force for continuing the TV shows the movies you know the video games and the merchandise

04:31have the strongest impact for this franchise and I'm okay with that but but I just don't really care for anymore

04:41and it sucks because I remember back in a day when Pokemon was relevant I used to want to collect you know

04:53the actual pokeball and other stuff there the collector card stuff they used to have it was pretty cool nowadays I just don't really bother with it anymore but another example and this is the closest example is Yu-Gi-Oh this came out around the same time as Pokemon and although I will say Yu-Gi-Oh probably started off before Pokemon because you know the whole trading card game was actually more popular

05:21more popular and just like Pokemon the trading card game led to the merchandise led to them getting a you know anime show TV series that's how successful it was and I would say Yu-Gi-Oh wasn't as good as Pokemon when it started up but as it progressed it got better than Pokemon in my opinion

05:44but eventually just like Pokemon but eventually just like Pokemon Yu-Gi-Oh fell flat and I just went off the list completely

05:53I don't remember much about Yu-Gi-Oh as a force of Pokemon because I didn't watch Yu-Gi-Oh as much as Pokemon

06:03Pokemon but what I do remember sometime after um you know the main server with Yu-Gi-Oh and his friends and they had this thing called Generation and then they had another one with something happened and I can't remember but what I do remember is them doing some crazy strippiness where they had duels taking place with the characters riding like some sort of like you know

06:32twisty motorcycle around in a track while they were dueling and I was watching and thinking to myself like what the hell this is like this isn't Yu-Gi-Oh I mean they're supposed to stand up and face each other while they're dueling you know so I still have the whole platform and stuff you know the shadow realm thing I think it's called

06:56But here in the newer ones they have have them drag now in a circle like some sort of racing game some sort of racing gimmick they add to it and it just I don't know it's like they're probably trying to reinvent it in a way but it just did not work at all

07:17They switch the cast again well it's what you expect when you try to reinvent the anime you know up the ante you know but unlike Pokemon you know with Pokemon that you know anime franchise they still kept Ash and Pikachu because those are the two minions right they don't you know take out those two but they would replace all the other characters

07:46in that anime but in that anime but in the new Yu-Gi that I remember seeing they even replace Yu-Gi in them but they replace him with someone who was

07:58taller Muslim-ish but he had basically Yu-Gi's hairstyle or something I just can't really understand it I can't remember exactly what his name was but

08:10To be honest it just didn't did not work for me I was like why are they doing this man I'll be fair it's not like the new series are completely bad you know I get it like they want to you know continue it for the new generations

08:29But at the same time you know at some point you know at some point you got to be like you know

08:37Why not just have we want of the the old episodes and for the new generations you know

08:45And instead of you know spend all the time to make all these new seasons with all these new gimmicks and stuff that basically nobody really cares for

08:57And you just end up ruining the franchise name basically killed off Yu-Gi for me

09:03I remember at that point I was completely checked out of Yu-Gi. You know even some of the monsters as well

09:10I was like you can tell you know after what basically ten years at that point

09:18You know thousands of different types of you know cards they did one out of ideas

09:28And the same thing too with Pokemon you know with the new generation Pokemon they have I think they watch Sun and Moon now by now

09:37I don't know for sure but even Pokemon as well

09:43There are new Pokemon they have for the new series

09:47You can tell you a lot of ideas with the design even with this appalling characters who just hang up with Ash

09:53They have all sort of weird hairstyles and such

09:57I was like I mean you guys clearly showing that you're desperate you know you have nothing left

10:05If this is the sort of design you come up with why don't you just like let it go or something you know

10:11And basically let's end it you know I remember reading up on some form about this theory about Ash

10:20The theory is from if you know the first episode of Pokemon where he was trying to you know like tame Pikachu

10:29Because back then Pikachu was an asshole to him

10:32And he was trying to tame him because you know that he does his first Pokemon

10:38But he didn't understand the whole dynamic about Pikachu not wanting to be in Pokemon right

10:42And it was a pretty interesting episode but in that episode there was an explosion or something like that

10:49And Ash did got in an accident or something

10:54And he was like in some sort of coma or something

10:59I think it was the explosion at perma coma or he got injured doing something

11:06And throughout the episode you know the show he gets back up and then eventually he came with Pikachu throughout the episode you know

11:18And he had the usual Pokemon you know stuff going on

11:22And then it leads to the you know the rest of the episode where they continue the storyline start of the journey you know

11:31Um yeah so the theory about it is when Ash got knocked out in a coma he didn't actually wake up you know

11:41And the whole journey that we are seeing of him going along with the rest of the characters

11:50And catching all of the Pokemon and going to do all these battles

11:55All of that is inside his head you know like some sort of long standing dream

12:00And Ash really not and for a while I was like mind blown

12:05Cause when I was thinking about it I was like you know he does not age at all

12:11During the entire series and the show has been running for like 22, 22

12:19I think this is going to be 24 years now since the show has been running

12:22And Ash literally did not age so I was like yeah this seems like a very plausible you know theory

12:32And in some ways it might be secretly be the ending for the show

12:40So you know the writers just um just don't want to go with it yet

12:47Because you know they want to milk it as long as they can

12:50And adding as much as they can in the middle

12:53You know because the merchandise and you know everything else is doing so well for them apparently

13:00And then there's the fact that the movies have come out and now the live action is actually catching up

13:06So yeah that's pretty crazy when you think about it though you know

13:11Pokemon started off when Hollywood was

13:18Now started making video game adaptations

13:22And they were shitty video game adaptations from Hollywood

13:28And now here we are 20 something years later

13:31Pokemon still going

13:33And now Hollywood has finally been able to figure out how to make actually good adaptations of video games

13:40It's pretty crazy

13:42But now here

13:43I have a feeling that

13:45The theory about Ash not aging

13:48Is probably 100% accurate

13:52And that they will use that to

13:56Conclude the whole series

14:00When they feel it's necessary you know

14:06Um

14:07I don't think it'll be anything soon

14:09Because

14:10We're looking at it

14:12How things are going for them

14:14They just wanna you know

14:15Keep that status core

14:17But it sucks though because

14:21You can see it in the final product

14:23Even

14:24Down to the

14:26From the writing

14:28All the way down to the animation quality itself

14:30It looks more realistic

14:32It has more high definition colors and such

14:35But

14:36But the drawings of the characters

14:38The designs

14:40They're so shitty

14:41It comes like

14:42It comes like

14:43They hired like a bunch of kids to do it for them

14:45You know

14:46It doesn't have any professional

14:48No professionalism

14:51To it

14:52It just feels like

14:53Like

14:55Some sort of fan fiction stuff

14:57That's coming out at this point

14:58So

14:59If

15:00Hoping that they can probably

15:03You know

15:04Just

15:05Basically

15:06Wrap up the whole

15:07Pokemon thing

15:08And get over it

15:09You know

15:10You know

15:11Give

15:12Let Ash come out of his coma

15:14And come back to the real world

15:16And the franchise actually got with a bang

15:20Rather than

15:21Rather than a whimper

15:22That it's been right now

15:23You know

15:24So

15:25Anyways guys

15:26That's pretty much sums up my video so far

15:29And I know

15:30I've been kinda like

15:31All over the place

15:32You know

15:33About this

15:34But

15:35But it's something that's really important to me

15:37You know

15:38I literally grew up with Pokemon

15:39And the same thing with Yu-Gi-Oh as well

15:41You know

15:42These are animes that I

15:43Grew up with since I was like

15:45Eight

15:47Seven

15:48Eight years old

15:49So

15:50And probably before that

15:51Because

15:52Before I actually started watching anime regularly

15:55I was actually buying the merchandise

15:57So I was actually a part of the whole course

15:59But nowadays

16:00I just don't really care for it anymore

16:02If I actually do go back to it

16:04I only go back to the

16:05Old

16:06Episodes

16:07You know

16:08And even the merchandise and video games

16:10I only play the old ones

16:11I don't really care much for the

16:14The new

16:15The new crazy stuff that they're putting out now

16:18Yeah

16:19Um

16:20So

16:22But anyways
