00:02Thanks, Tisha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. It's time for your weather.
00:07We're starting off with conditions in Port of Spain.
00:10TV6's Weather Center says downtown is mostly clear with temperatures at 32 degrees Celsius.
00:17We have winds coming southeast at 8 knots and humidity is at 70%.
00:23And here's what's happening tonight.
00:26Mostly fair and hazy conditions that will be interrupted by some partly cloudy intervals associated with light to moderate showers, developing pre-dawn.
00:37We have minimum temperatures coming in at 24 degrees in Trinidad and 26 in Tobago.
00:44Now, if you find yourself clearing your throat a lot or feeling a bit congested tomorrow,
00:51Saharan dust will be present in the atmosphere, so persons sensitive to changes in air quality should take the necessary precautions.
01:00But you know what else we're getting tomorrow?
01:02Fair and hazy conditions that will become partly cloudy at times with light to moderate isolated showers near hilly areas.
01:11There's a low chance that isolated thunderstorms could develop from early afternoon.
01:16We have maximum temperatures coming in at 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 in Tobago.
01:24Moving on to our weekend forecast, Saturday and Sunday are both giving us some partly cloudy conditions at times
01:31with isolated lights, moderate showers near hilly areas and a chance of the isolated thunderstorms from late morning to early afternoon.
01:40So, walk with those umbrellas because the showers are coming.
01:44Maximum temperatures are 33 degrees in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago for both Saturday and Sunday.
01:51On to our seas.
01:52Tomorrow's seas are moderate with waves up to 2 meters in open waters and up to 1 meter in sheltered areas.
02:00If you love to watch the sunrise, you'll be pulling your curtains at 555 in Trinidad and 551 in Tobago.
02:08But if you prefer the sunset, you'll be pulling your curtains at 559 in Trinidad and 556 in Tobago.
02:16It's now time for your Thai times.
02:18Did you know that thunderstorms can trigger asthma attacks?
02:34Well, let me explain.
02:35Asthma attacks can be triggered by thunderstorms through a phenomenon called thunderstorm asthma,
02:41which occurs when wind and rain break down pollen and mold into smaller particles that can be inhaled deep into the lungs.
02:50This is particularly risky during pollen season, especially for people with poorly controlled asthma,
02:57pollen allergies or undiagnosed allergies, as it can lead to sudden and severe respiratory symptoms.
03:05To protect yourself, it's recommended on days with high pollen counts and thunderstorms to stay indoors with the windows closed.
03:15Take your preventer inhaler daily, especially leading up to and during pollen season.
03:22Pollen season in Trinidad and Tobago does not follow a typical four-season pattern
03:27and can be considered year-round with high concentrations observed during the months of December to January and July to August.
03:37It is also recommended to always have an asthma action plan.
03:41Develop with your doctor and follow it.
03:44Be aware of symptoms like wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing and chest tightness,
03:49and know when to seek help.
03:52If you experience severe difficulty breathing, call for emergency medical assistance immediately.
03:58Well, now you know.
04:01That's all for weather tonight.
04:02Go grab a snack and come back because there's more news after the break.
