00:00Here's Rochelle with tonight's weather forecast.
00:03Thanks, Nisha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. It's time for your weather.
00:07We're starting off with what's happening.
00:10Trinidad and Tobago Met Office is monitoring a developing system in the central tropical Atlantic,
00:16about 2,300 kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles.
00:21The system is now better organized and has a 70-80% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within 2-7 days.
00:31It's moving west-northwest at 40-45 kilometers per hour and may approach the northern Leeward Islands later this week.
00:40No direct threat to Trinidad and Tobago, but it could bring showers and thunderstorms mid-to-late week.
00:47With that being said, no watches or warnings are in effect at this time.
00:51Now, let's take a look at our conditions in Port of Spain presently.
00:55TV6's Weather Center says, downtown is mostly clear with temperatures at 32 degrees Celsius.
01:01We have winds coming northwest at 2 knots and humidity is at 71%.
01:06And tonight, mostly fair conditions are expected initially with a few showers developing after midnight.
01:13Minimum temperatures are coming in at 24 degrees in Trinidad and 26 over in Tobago.
01:19So, tomorrow morning, we're starting off hot and sunny.
01:23That will then become puffy cloudy by midday, eventually giving us a few showers.
01:29So, don't let the morning sun fool you.
01:31Walk with your umbrellas.
01:32There's also a medium chance of isolated afternoon heavy showers or thunderstorms.
01:37Note that gusty winds and straight-of-flash flooding may occur near heavy showers or thunderstorms.
01:43We have maximum temperatures coming in at 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 in Tobago.
01:50Onto our two-day forecast now.
01:52On Wednesday and Thursday, partly cloudy and at times breezy conditions are expected with occasional light to moderate showers.
01:59There's a medium chance of heavy showers or thunderstorms on Wednesday and increasing to 60% on Thursday.
02:05Nights will be generally settled, although a few showers are likely early Wednesday morning and after midnight on Thursday.
02:13Maximum temperatures are 32 degrees in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago on Wednesday and 31 degrees in Trinidad and 30 degrees in Tobago on Thursday.
02:23Looking at our seas now.
02:24Seas are moderate with waves of 1.5 meters to 2 meters in open waters and below 1 meter, occasionally choppy, in sheltered areas.
02:33Now, it's our sun times.
02:35In Trinidad, sunrise is at 5.54 and it was set at 5.52.
02:40Over in Tobago, sunrise is at 5.51 and it was set at 5.49.
02:45Now, a hazardous sea alert yellow level was issued on Saturday at 5 a.m.
02:51and will end on Wednesday, October 8th at 9 a.m.
02:55Rough seas are expected due to strong north and northeast swells and spring tides.
03:00Large, powerful waves will affect the surf zone, especially at high tide.
03:06This may disrupt swimming, fishing and boating activities and cause saltwater intrusion and sand movement inland.
03:14Conditions may ease slightly on Monday morning, but worsen again by the afternoon.
03:19All marine interests should take caution and avoid nearshore marine activities, secure coastal property and continue to monitor updates from official sites.
03:30Now, here are your tight ends.
03:42Now, that's all for weather tonight, but wait.
03:45When we go to a break, take a walk outside and look at the sky.
03:48The moon will appear slightly larger and brighter during what's known as a supermoon.
03:53October supermoon is the first of three this year.
03:58According to NASA, it happens when a full moon is closer to Earth in its orbit.
04:03That makes the moon look up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than the faintest moon of the year.
04:11The subtle difference happens a few times a year, sometimes coinciding with other astronomical events such as lunar eclipse.
04:19Now, feel free to send me some of your pictures of the supermoon.
04:22I'll see you guys tomorrow.
04:24Come back after you watch the moon because there's more news after the break.
