00:03Thanks, Disha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
00:07A lot has been going on in TNT and around the world, so let's get right to it.
00:12All eyes are on Hurricane Melissa. Here's what's happening.
00:16The National Hurricane Center this morning reported that Melissa was previously a Category 4 hurricane,
00:23but has since gained strength and progressed into a Category 5 hurricane, the maximum strength.
00:29With sustained winds of 160 miles per hour, Category 5 hurricane, Melissa, is in the Caribbean Sea,
00:38145 miles southwest of Kingston, Jamaica, and 330 miles southwest of Guantanamo, Cuba.
00:47The core of Melissa is expected to move over Jamaica tonight and early Tuesday.
00:52And across southeastern Cuba Tuesday night and southeastern Bahamas on Wednesday,
00:58still expected to be at hurricane strength when it moves across the Bahamas.
01:03According to forecasters, some fluctuations in intensity are likely before Melissa makes landfall on Jamaica on Tuesday.
01:11The hurricane is slow-moving but deadly, threatening to unleash torrential rains and destructive winds on the Caribbean island.
01:19Authorities fear Melissa, which has already been blamed for the death of four people in Haiti and the Dominican Republic,
01:27could become the strongest hurricane ever to hit Jamaica.
01:30Meteorologists warn that Melissa's slow pace means it is set to dump torrential rain on affected areas for longer,
01:38increasing the risk of deadly flooding and landslides.
01:41Jamaica's Prime Minister, Andrew Hulness, has ordered the immediate evacuation of several vulnerable communities across the island.
01:50Officials also urge residents in low-lying and flood-run areas to seek shelter in safer areas.
01:56Really unfortunate news. Let's all keep Jamaica in our prayers.
02:00Shaking things up a bit, a powerful 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck the Eastern Caribbean on Monday morning,
02:08sending tremors across several islands, including Dominica, Guadeloupe and Antigua and Bermuda.
02:14According to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre, the quake occurred at 8.38 a.m.
02:21Residents across the region reported feeling strong shaking that lasted several seconds.
02:27There were no immediate reports of injuries or major damage.
02:31The U.S. Seismic Research Centre based in Trinidad and Tobago continues to monitor the situation.
02:37And on Friday evening, we all felt that 5.0 magnitude earthquake right here in Trinidad.
02:43As I mentioned, there's a lot going on.
