00:08We're starting off with some history. 62 years ago on this day, September 30th, 1963,
00:15Category 3 Hurricane Flora made landfall on Tobago with winds estimated at 195 kilometers per hour,
00:23causing widespread destruction to housing, agriculture, forestry and infrastructure.
00:28To give some data, approximately 7,500 houses on the island, but 2,750 were destroyed and 3,500 were damaged,
00:39causing U.S. $30 million in losses. Approximately 50% of coconut and cocoa trees were destroyed,
00:47along with significant loss in crops and vegetation like bananas and vegetables.
00:5275% of the trees forming the forestry reserves were blown down, while the remainder were severely damaged.
01:01Holes were snapped and destroyed along with roads.
01:04Hurricane Flora caused 18 deaths in Tobago and 2 in Trinidad due to drowning.
01:11Very sad story, but important to remember.
01:14Bringing you back to the present now, let's see what's happening in Puerto Spain presently.
01:19TB6's Weather Center says downtown is mostly clear, with temperatures at 30 degrees Celsius.
01:25We have winds coming southeast at 2 knots and humidity is at 79%.
01:30Looking at what's happening tonight, we're getting mostly fair and slightly hazy conditions,
01:35but expect some brief intermittent light isolated shawry interruptions.
01:39We have minimum temperatures coming in at 24 degrees in Trinidad and 26 in Tobago.
01:45Jumping ahead to tomorrow, so conditions are looking mostly fair, but will become partly cloudy at times,
01:52with light and moderate isolated showers near hilly and western areas.
01:56There's a low chance of isolated thunderstorms could develop from early afternoon.
02:01We have maximum temperatures at 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 over in Tobago.
02:07And to our two-day forecast now, Thursday will be mostly fair, however, we will have some isolated showers developing from early afternoon to evening.
02:17There's a chance of isolated thunderstorms could develop, so basically what we've been getting all week.
02:23And guess what? Friday will be the same.
02:25Maximum temperatures are 33 degrees in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago for both Thursday and Friday.
02:31Now for our seas, tomorrow's seas are looking moderate, with waves up to 1.5 meters in open waters and up to 1 meter in sheltered areas.
02:42And for our sun times now, over in Trinidad, sunrise is at 5.54 and in Tobago is at 5.51.
02:48Sunset is at 5.56 in Trinidad and it will set at 5.53 in Tobago.

03:07In international news now, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the central Philippines late Tuesday,
03:16killing and injuring some people as it wrecked roads and buildings and knocked out power and parts of the region.
03:22Richard Gordon, chairman of the Philippine Red Cross, said at least 13 people, including three members of the Philippine Coast Guard
03:29and one firefighter, died in the town of San Remigio when a sports complex collapsed during a basketball game.
