00:49of Project Runway season 6.
00:51Why do I want to win?

01:27I don't.
01:28Never lost.
01:29I always win.
01:31Everybody here has proven their self.
01:34They're all capable of doing great things.
01:36You just got to be better.
01:38This is Project Runway All-Stars.
01:45Designers, welcome back to New York.
01:47I'm Alyssa Milano and I am beyond excited to be hosting
01:51this all-winners season of Project Runway All-Stars.
01:55Project Runway is a global phenomenon
01:58with more than a thousand designers competing around the world.
02:01So, in the biggest twist we've ever done,
02:04we've invited some of the most successful international winners to join you.
02:09We have no clue who's going to be here from what country.
02:16I'm Christina Exey and I won Australia's Project Runway season 4.
02:20I'm here to kick ass.
02:21Got to represent my country.
02:23Hi, I'm Sonny Fung and I won Project Runway Canada season 2.
02:26Since I won, I was able to address some celebrities.
02:29Alicia Cuthbert, Katy Perry, which was amazing.
02:33My name is Django Steinbacher.
02:35I won the first season of Project Runway The Netherlands.
02:39Dutch people are really direct.
02:41We will tell you immediately how we feel.
02:44My name is Cynthia Hayashi.
02:46I'm the winner of Project Runway Brazil.
02:49To be the winner of the winners, it will be amazing.
02:55My name is Jasper Gurbide.
02:57I've come a long way since winning Project Runway UK.
03:01I want to win.
03:02I want to win this show.
03:03My name is Bedell.
03:04I won the first season of Project Runway Canada.
03:08Are you kidding me?
03:10I thought it was going to be like nine old Americans who haven't won.
03:14And I was just going to like pick them off.
03:16But everyone here has won.
03:17Now it's on.
03:18Hi.
03:19Hi.
03:20Hi.
03:21Welcome to the United States.
03:23Only one of you will be crowned world champion.
03:27Winning the first international all winner all star would mean that you have the biggest badge in Project Runway history.
03:35We have joined forces with retailer JCPenney and they are providing accessories for all the designs and will be producing a limited edition version of the winning look every single week.
03:49After every runway, the winning design will be available immediately at JCP.com.
03:55And courtesy of Southwest Airlines, the designer who wins the challenge every week receives $5,000.
04:05The $5,000 prize is amazing.
04:07Like, that's totally unexpected.
04:09To critique your work, I'll be joined by internationally renowned designers Isaac Mizrahi and Marquesa's Georgina Chapman, plus some of the biggest names in fashion and entertainment.
04:21So we are standing on historic Governor's Island with a breathtaking view of that Statue of Liberty.
04:28It is a symbol that has proudly welcomed immigrants of the United States.
04:32Designers, we want to discover more about you and where you come from.
04:37Even our U.S. winners have origins in other countries.
04:41So your first challenge is to design a high fashion look inspired by the culture of your country of origin.
04:49Your budget for this challenge is $200 at Mood.
04:53And you will be traveling there in style using the car service Lyft.
04:57Back in the workroom, you will have a weekly mentor session with editor-in-chief of Marie Claire Magazine and Fallenwider.
05:05The first ever all winners runway is tomorrow.
05:10I feel a bit intimidated, but they're probably thinking exactly the same thing.
05:14Good luck, everyone.
05:16Can you believe this view?
05:22Yes.
05:23The view is amazing.
05:25I'm a little bit starstruck, and he's talking about the view.
05:29And I'm just kind of sitting there like, my view?
05:32What is your country of origin?
05:34Originally, I'm from Belarus.
05:35Costumes in Belarus are very free and comfortable.
05:38It has lots of volume and lots of embroidery, and I'm trying to kind of balance it out and make it modern.
05:46What are you doing for your own?
05:47I'm going to do the Mountie, because I feel like it's just iconic.
05:50Just the color and the shapes, and I just find it inspiring to work with the volume.
05:55It's almost like I'm protecting my country.
05:57My country of origin is the Republic of Georgia, and immediately I think of wine.
06:04So I'm sketching a short coat, and I'm going to do this applique work with petals that's going to give it that full, lush texture.
06:13International All-Stars! Are y'all ready for mood?
06:17Yeah!
06:27All right, guys, we've got 30 minutes!
06:30Oh, my God.
06:31This is the first time I'm going to be in mood.
06:33I don't know where everything is.
06:36Why are you in this section? Get out of my section!
06:39Because it's my heritage.
06:40Would you snip me a little piece first?
06:42I am partially Native American.
06:45I can. At least my grandmother says so.
06:47So right off the bat, I know I want to use color.
06:50Uh, can I cut?
06:51Trinidad is very culturally and ethnically diverse, and so it's very colorful.
06:56What I want it to become is sort of like a modernized sari.
07:01I need to buy a specific kind of lace, because I'm making a dress inspired by the tradition,
07:07Ren da Renascença.
07:09It's a kind of technique brought by Portuguese.
07:12Pass it down from generation to generation.
07:15Two minutes!
07:22That's time!
07:24All right, thank you!
07:25Thank you!
07:34Oh, wow.
07:35Oh, these are nice big tables.
07:37There was a lot of space.
07:38The JCPenney wall is stacked for us.
07:40Oh, the machines are nice.
07:41Brother machines.
07:43Walking into the Brother sewing room, I'm like, yes!
07:46It's the newest of the new.
07:48They really did up the ante with this work room.
07:50It's the world championship all-stars.
07:56I'm trying my best to keep it together.
07:58I, like, literally have not done this in forever.
08:02Girl, you ain't learned how to sew yet!
08:05I haven't sewn since season nine of Project Runway,
08:09because I've been developing businesses that do not require me to sew.
08:13So, I don't know who told me that this was a good idea.
08:17Because, clearly, I'm crazy.
08:20I need to fuse two fabrics.
08:23I never did this kind of design before.
08:26And maybe I'm a little crazy to do this for the very first challenge,
08:31since I won Project Runway Brazil.
08:34Everything's changed in my life.
08:36My brand, we sold for more than 150 stores in Brazil.
08:41I want to win this competition for my family to make them proud of me.
08:46Did you get enough friends?
08:49Runway's tomorrow.
08:50And my head's not fully here.
08:55Three days before I got here, my grandmother passed away.
09:00And she was someone who taught me about the hard work that you have to invest in life.
09:11It's hard to leave everything behind.
09:13I don't know if I can get through it.
09:15Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
09:21One little mistake and I'm .
09:24I've never seen Adele work in person.
09:27It's really amazing.
09:28It's very plain.
09:29It looks almost like the Muslim.
09:30Hmm.
09:37I think I like red.
09:38First thing I do is I start cutting because I have like 10 years of cutting to do.
09:43And then another 10 years of sewing.
09:45Like, I've got a week or so, right?
09:48My career has been going great.
09:50I've been doing a lot of custom work.
09:52As soon as I win this time around, I'm going to go ahead and open a shop immediately.
10:00Dimitri, you're awfully quiet back there.
10:02Yeah, because one little mistake and I'm .
10:05It's very hard to work with Velvet because you can't press it, you can't iron it.
10:09So it's like so many things you can do with it.
10:12Badel?
10:13Huh?
10:14You turn your pattern right?
10:15I've never really seen Badel work in person and it's really amazing to watch.
10:20We ain't got time, Sonny.
10:22I was a very awkward person.
10:24I think I weighed 300 pounds when I graduated high school.
10:26So I couldn't buy the brand I wanted to buy.
10:29And then I was like, I can just do this myself.
10:32And that's where it all kind of started.
10:33I'm excited to meet our mentor.
10:35I got some questions.
10:39Hi, designers.
10:40Hi.
10:41I'm Ann Fullenweider.
10:42I'm the editor-in-chief of Mary Claire.
10:44And I'm thrilled to be your mentor this season.
10:47And because this episode is all about your origins,
10:49it's a perfect way for me to get to know you.
10:51So let's begin.
10:52Hi, Anya.
10:53Hi, Ann.
10:54So tell me about your inspiration.
10:55I'm partly Chinese and Portuguese, Syrian, Lebanese, a whole bunch of stuff.
10:59Wow.
11:00So I wanted to represent that, but in a way that is as harmonious as possible.
11:05Is this going to be this long?
11:07I haven't seen the model yet.
11:08This is a lot of fabric.
11:11Yeah.
11:12I think that Anya's design is too simple.
11:15The fabrics are all very different weights.
11:17Yes.
11:18I'm really worried about the movement down the runway.
11:20Okay.
11:21Her feedback about the flow and the walk of the garment is very sound.
11:24So I'm getting rid of the pleated skirt.
11:27Nice to meet you.
11:28I'm Ann.
11:29I'm Cintia.
11:30I'm on the Project Renda in Brazil.
11:32What are you doing today?
11:33It's called Renda Renaissance.
11:35So it's lace, yes?
11:36Yeah.
11:37I choose desert guns as well.
11:39And I fuse it then.
11:41It sounds very labor intensive.
11:42Yeah, it is.
11:43And I notice you don't have anything on your form.
11:45Honestly, I think you need to step it up.
11:48How about you?
11:49Mother's side, Spain.
11:50Okay.
11:51Father's side, Scotland.
11:52I'm getting a little bit of a school mom vibe.
11:55I'm originally from the Philippines.
11:58This to me looks very Disney princess.
12:01After talking to Ann, I decided to edit my design slightly.
12:05Hi, Tango.
12:06Hey.
12:07How are you?
12:08Nice to meet you.
12:09I chose a Dutch painting to go with the pearl earring.
12:12Maybe the most famous Dutch painting of all.
12:14Yeah, yeah, yeah.
12:15I'm going to try to keep it subtle.
12:17Subtle doesn't always work on the runway.
12:20European subtle is different than American subtle, I think.
12:26So you're a Brooklyn girl, I hear.
12:27Yeah, I grew up in Brooklyn, but my parents are from the Republic of Georgia.
12:30I was born there.
12:31Is this a dress?
12:32What is underneath here?
12:33It's a coat.
12:34Oh, okay.
12:35It's like sort of, it's like a jacket.
12:36Irina's amazing because she can whip something up so fast, but I think it's maybe too over the top.
12:42The only thing I would say is that it may veer into the costume, but I love it.
12:46Thank you so much.
12:47Where are you from again, Dimitri?
12:48Originally, I'm from Belarus.
12:50This cutout, I'm going to add in here.
12:52I love the idea that you're going to open this up.
12:54I would really go for that.
12:55The lengths will probably change to this.
12:58I like seeing the black again here.
13:00I think if you go here, it might get more costumey looking.
13:02Yeah.
13:03My parents are from Hong Kong and China, so I thought about doing sort of east, east, west.
13:08I think it's a really good idea.
13:09My main concern with you right now is just time.
13:11It's time.
13:12Yeah.
13:13You've got to get going.
13:14Are you picking up on your Australian heritage?
13:15Correct.
13:16I wanted to incorporate waves with this sophisticated aesthetic.
13:18I love an asymmetrical garment.
13:20It's just all business on top and sort of beach party on bottom.
13:23After my session with Anne, I decide to create a softer top.
13:27I do want to take her critique on board.
13:29I'm from Portland, Oregon, Pacific Northwest.
13:32It's very plain.
13:34It looks a little bit almost like the muslin.
13:36Hmm.
13:37So the Mountie is sort of the symbol of Canada that I think is sort of like global.
13:41It feels like a uniform.
13:42There needs to be a little bit more of an interpretation.
13:44And not so literal.
13:45And not so literal.
13:46I'm feeling really good about how this outfit is going until Anne shuts down any sense of confidence that I had.
13:52It just needs to be a little more cool.
13:54Okay?
13:55My lineage on my mother's side is Texas Cherokee.
13:58Wow.
13:59And so I kind of wanted this idea of if Christopher Columbus never set foot in the U.S.
14:04Anthony Ryan's outfit, I can't look at it.
14:08I love the top piece.
14:09I don't really know what to do about the underneath.
14:11Okay.
14:12Anne hones in on this blue fabric that I've got because it doesn't look great next to the white.
14:17I think I'm going to kind of listen to her on the idea of pick one or the other.
14:21But this I'm good with.
14:22You've got a lot to figure out underneath.
14:23Yeah.
14:24Designers, I'm really impressed with what I've seen today.
14:27And I'm going to send in a friend to give you some perspective for this challenge.
14:30Okay.
14:31Good luck.
14:34Bye.
14:35Whew.
14:36That was nerve-wracking.
14:37How did your critique go?
14:38She said I need to make it cooler.
14:40So I'm going to just cinch it and make sure the waist is really tight.
14:44Hello.
14:45Hello.
14:46Hi, everyone.
14:47Hi.
14:48Hi.
14:49I'm Anne Wojcicki.
14:50I hear your challenge is about origins.
14:52So I got a great surprise for you.
14:54I started this company, 23andMe, with the idea that people can get a little kit like this,
14:59and then I tell you, based on your DNA, what parts of the world you're actually from.
15:05It's really cool to just spit in a cup and to know where your ancestors came from.
15:11East Asian and Native American.
15:13What?
15:140.6%.
15:15So I actually have Native American in me?
15:17Is that all my little DNAs?
15:18Found out that I'm Askenazi Jew.
15:19I can't wait to tell my parents.
15:20Jasper, twirl.
15:21Jasper, you should be your own model.
15:22All right.
15:23Yeah.
15:24Woo!
15:25Sashay.
15:26Send in the models.
15:27Hey.
15:28Hi.
15:29Hi.
15:30Hi.
15:31Hi.
15:32Hi.
15:33Hi.
15:34Hi.
15:35Hi.
15:36Hi.
15:37Hi.
15:38Hi.
15:39Hi.
15:40Hi.
15:41Hi.
15:42Hi.
15:43Hi.
15:44Hi.
15:45Hi.
15:46Hi.
15:47Hi.
15:48Hi.
15:49The jacket is slightly small on her.
15:50My plan was originally to close the jacket and button it up, but I'm no longer going to
15:53be able to do that.
15:54Cool.
15:55Perfect.
15:56Oh my gosh.
15:57It's the first time that I'm seeing my dress on my model and it looks amazing.
16:03Cynthia's dress, I do see some technical issues.
16:07Being on all-star winners, that can send you home.
16:12and the length feels okay.
16:13I have one or two adjustments,
16:15but it does not have too much to be changed.
16:18I can tell right away that the two fabrics
16:21are not gonna lay right no matter what I do.
16:24Let's find what else might work.
16:26So thank you so much.
16:27We are done.
16:29Bye.
16:32How'd they go?
16:34Good, I just have to make it fit better.
16:39You guys, we've got 30 minutes.
16:42Girl, you work hard.
16:46I still have quite a bit of hand tacking to do,
16:50so first thing when I get back in tomorrow morning,
16:53I'm just gonna hand tack until I run out of time.
16:58That's it, time.
17:00Runway's tomorrow, I ain't ready.
17:02Didn't know the demands it would take
17:03to do this again, for sure.
17:05If I'm being 100% honest, I asked myself,
17:08was I ready for this?
17:09You know, can I do this again?
17:12Should I be here?
17:13I know I'm in trouble,
17:14and I'm just gonna have to resolve this in the morning.
17:19Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
17:22The game is on.
17:23This is not your average challenge won.
17:26It's just like a terrifying clown.
17:28You put those buttons on, boo.
17:30It's Runway Day, and I've screwed myself.
17:40So much to do.
17:41It's a little time.
17:45It's Runway Day, and I've screwed myself.
17:49My design is not working, and I don't want to scrap it,
17:52so I've decided to create this top to go over
17:55and disguise the flaws that I have underneath.
18:00I'm getting a princess.
18:01She needs a tiara, honey.
18:03Morning.
18:04Hi, Colleen.
18:05Perfect.
18:06Perhaps Cynthia's proportions slightly off.
18:09Some volume could be taken in,
18:11but what she is doing is really thoughtful and lovely,
18:15almost virginal.
18:19The game is on.
18:20This is not your average challenge won.
18:23I feel like it's more like the end of the season.
18:25It's definitely nerve-wracking.
18:28I think you could win.
18:29You know, the idea crossed my mind.
18:31When I saw Dimitri's look,
18:32I thought he was making a giant velvet bag with a belt.
18:35It's not my favorite.
18:37Welcome to the Butter London Makeup and Nail Studio.
18:38Focus on the eyes.
18:39The Iconoclast eyeliner.
18:40Beautiful, strong eyeliner.
18:41We're going Pacific Northwest Grunge.
18:42It's Plush Rush lipstick in the style of the eye.
18:43It's more like the end of the season.
18:44It's definitely nerve-wracking.
18:45I think you could win.
18:46You know, the idea crossed my mind.
18:47When I saw Dimitri's look,
18:48I thought he was making a giant velvet bag with a belt.
18:49It's not my favorite.
18:50Welcome to the Butter London Makeup and Nail Studio.
18:52Focus on the eyes.
18:53The Iconoclast eyeliner.
18:54Beautiful, strong eyeliner.
18:55I think Pacific Northwest Grunge.
18:56It's Plush Rush lipstick in nostalgia.
18:59She's a bit of a cop.
19:00So strong and a gorgeous brow.
19:02Perfect.
19:05Welcome to the Umberto Beverly Hills salon.
19:07I just went sleek and high.
19:08Gelled back, like almost shiny.
19:10Yeah.
19:11Really innocent, but also kind of cheeky.
19:13To define these curls,
19:14we're going to use the Umberto hairspray.
19:16This is the neckline.
19:17Simple, sleek hair with accent that.
19:19Yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:20I don't know what's going on with my zipper.
19:22Look.
19:23I can't open it.
19:24I have the stupid idea to push the zipper.
19:28Oh, gosh.
19:29It's really stuck.
19:30All right, guys.
19:3130 minutes.
19:34What a stupid idea that I had.
19:36Focus on the solution, not the problem.
19:38The runway is in a half hour,
19:40and I don't know what I'm going to do.
19:44We have six hands on one tiny zipper,
19:47and it's not working out.
19:48Yeah, so let's cut here.
19:49Okay.
19:50You got it.
19:51You've done it, girl.
19:52Yeah, yeah.
19:53Perfect.
19:55Thank you guys so much.
19:56All right.
19:57Jasper and Django saved my life.
19:58Could have cut it a bit tighter, I guess.
19:59I have a winning look because it screams country of origin.
20:02It feels luxe, expensive.
20:03I hit all the marks here.
20:04Nutcrackers are terrifying.
20:05It's just like a clown.
20:06He's going that direction, and I'm not going to tell him no.
20:07You put those buttons on, boo.
20:08Huh.
20:09Mine, Uranus, it's stunning.
20:22It's really is impressive.
20:24Are you warm?
20:25Are you warm?
20:26So apparently, Irina's from Georgia, but I feel like she's more from a Chick-fil-A.
20:30she's more from a Chick-fil-A.
20:32I mean, she went for it.
20:37Hey guys, it's time to go to the runway.
20:39Let's do this, first one.
20:48Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
20:50This is my favorite piece of the day.
20:52This modern take on bohemia is wonderful.
20:55It took my breath away.
20:56To me, it feels like you're not here.
21:00No, probably not.
21:05The winner of Project Runway All Stars
21:07will collaborate with JCPenney on a capsule collection
21:09as part of the Project Runway line
21:11to be sold at select JCPenney stores
21:13and online at jcp.com.
21:16An editorial and photo spread in Marie Claire magazine
21:19and a position as guest editor for one year.
21:21The opportunity to create a signature nail color
21:24and an inspiring trip for two to London, England
21:27from luxury makeup brand Butter London.
21:29A selection of brother sewing and embroidery machines
21:32valued at $40,000.
21:34And to elevate their business and build their brand,
21:36a cash prize of $100,000.
21:43Hi.
21:44Hi.
21:45Designers, welcome to the runway for this special
21:48international winner season of Project Runway All Stars.
21:52You all won your season here in the US or around the world,
21:56but only one of you will be awarded the world title.
22:01Winning that prize takes your career to a whole new level.
22:04And remember, this week's winner receives $5,000 courtesy of Southwest Airlines.
22:09And JCPenney will have a limited edition version of your design
22:13immediately after tonight's runway on JCP.com.
22:17So let's meet our judges.
22:19First, co-founder and designer of luxury brand Marquesa,
22:22Miss Georgina Chapman.
22:24Woo!
22:25Hi, designers.
22:27Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion,
22:30Mr. Isaac Mizrahi.
22:32Hi.
22:35So exciting.
22:36And our guest judge is an international titan of television.
22:41After winning multiple acting awards,
22:43she returned to our iconic role on Will and Grace.
22:47Oh.
22:48And she's back by popular demand on our runway as well.
22:52Please welcome the beautiful, amazing Deborah Messing.
22:55Woo!
22:57Hi.
22:58Hi, everyone.
23:01I recognize so many of you.
23:02So excited to be here.
23:04So your first challenge was to design a high fashion look inspired by the
23:08culture of your country of origin.
23:10And to keep things fair, we're judging blind,
23:13so we won't know who designed which look until after the runway.
23:16It's time for each of you to show us why you won your season.
23:21Have a great show.
23:22Break a leg.
23:29My look is very me.
23:30Light, easy, colorful.
23:33Look at that leg.
23:34But my new judges, I'm not quite sure how to read their expressions.
23:43The pant looks great, the jacket held its volume, hasn't collapsed at all.
23:54She feels powerful, she feels strong, she feels very Canadian, and that's me.
23:59I am a perfectionist, I see flaws, only I know.
24:13Watching my girl walk the runway, it's terrifying.
24:20The judges are looking.
24:21Off-camera music.
24:28Bam, she's out to murder someone.
24:30Where is she going?
24:31Give her a hammer.
24:33She's a warrior not taking crap from anybody.
24:37Everything is just put together right.
24:40The first thing I notice is the white draping, floating like a cloud.
24:55I do have a winning look, but I hope the judges will understand it.
25:09I like the color.
25:10I think that's about all I like about it.
25:12You changed that in the last minute.
25:14Yeah, I was like, we gotta do something.
25:16I'm nervous.
25:17Point blank, fingers crossed.
25:19They just kind of slide me by.
25:29My girl is my superhero alter ego.
25:32So cool, Christina.
25:33Although she's covered up from head to toe, she looks hot.
25:37Totally my style.
25:39I'm really happy about it.
25:53I can win this one.
25:54It's super different.
25:56It has a lot of thought to it and it doesn't go costume.
25:59And I love the shine and energy on the runway.
26:03Sparkle goes a long way.
26:06The leather lace is shimmery in contrast with the black craved body.
26:19The gold's great on her skin.
26:21I'm really excited about how it all came together.
26:25It's not too tight and it's not too slutty, which is amazing.
26:28The pop of color.
26:36It's fun.
26:37She's owning the look.
26:38I really love the profile, the shape of the hood.
26:40It's so bland.
26:42Wow.
26:43I love that it's different on every angle.
26:45It's a dynamic piece.
26:47It's really different from the others.
26:59It's not so commercial.
27:01I like the placement of the volume.
27:03Oh, thank you.
27:04Sometimes we need to push ourselves to go farther.
27:08Nice job, Brushka.
27:18I love the embroidery.
27:20I love the cutouts.
27:22It moves, but at the same time, it's very static.
27:25This is a great way to start the season and make everyone nervous.
27:29Designers, you all started this week as winners.
27:38But that first runway proved that you are now all-stars as well.
27:43So congratulations to all of you.
27:47If I call your name, please step forward.
27:49Bedell.
27:51Anya.
27:52Dimitri.
27:54Irina.
27:56Cynthia.
27:57Anthony Ryan.
28:01The front row represents the highest and lowest scores of the week.
28:06The rest of you are safe and through to next week.
28:10You can head to the backstage lounge.
28:16One of you is the winner of this week's challenge.
28:19And one of you will be eliminated tonight.
28:30Bedell.
28:31Hi.
28:32You seem a little nervous.
28:33Oh, it's beyond.
28:34I've waited for this call ten years to get here.
28:37Tell us where you're from.
28:38I won the first season of Project Runway Canada when I was 23 years old.
28:41My inspiration was Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
28:44I love the silhouette of the Mountie, and silhouette is my thing.
28:48Georgina.
28:49Well, silhouette is your thing.
28:50I thought it was very witty, your take on the mountain police.
28:53What are they called?
28:54Mounted.
28:55Mounted.
28:56Not mountain.
28:57Okay, there we go.
28:58Mounted on horses, darling.
29:00But I think going forward, a little more restraint could be your friend.
29:05Hi, Bedell.
29:06Hi, Isaac Mizoraki.
29:07I love the pants because it has a fabulous silhouette.
29:09My problem is the buttons on that jacket.
29:12That's what makes it into like a little bit of a costume.
29:15I love the neckline.
29:17Is it even in the front?
29:19That was the only thing that I noticed.
29:21I love that you could tell that this was Canada.
29:24But I think the thing that struck me the most is your proportion.
29:27Somehow it is totally balanced.
29:29That's your strong suit right here.
29:32Anya, remind us where you're from.
29:34I'm from Trinidad and Tobago.
29:36It's very culturally diverse.
29:38A combination of African, East Indian, Chinese.
29:41You did your job in letting us into your culture.
29:45We knew where we were, but it feels like it's a black and white dress.
29:50For me, the thing would have been great had you given us like 20 patterns.
29:54You know, like just pattern on pattern on pattern.
29:57I just want drama from this thing, you know?
29:59Yes.
30:00In a design competition, you really have to take a bit more of a risk.
30:03And really push yourself hard.
30:05Okay.
30:06Now that you're an all-star, if you're going to give us draping, it's got to be the best draping we have ever seen.
30:11Yes.
30:12Because as you can see, everyone here has such incredible ability and talent.
30:16Absolutely.
30:17Dimitri, we know you well.
30:19So what is your country of origin?
30:21So I was born in Belarus, known for its graphic embroidery.
30:26I created this velvet dress.
30:28It's something romantic.
30:30It's something cool.
30:31This modern take on bohemia is wonderful.
30:33And these blues against the black.
30:35I adore the cutouts and the velvet.
30:37It gives us this lightness.
30:38I love this dress.
30:40I just love it so much.
30:41It's kind of a dress that you could find in a shop.
30:44But in velvet, at that length, it's fabulous.
30:48I have to admit, I didn't recognize that it was velvet.
30:52I thought it was cotton.
30:53And I thought the cutouts are a fantastic surprise.
30:57It makes it sexy.
30:58I am so conditioned to see you as structure and hard lines.
31:03I wonder if it's like, oh, is this a new Dimitri that we're going to see?
31:07Irina, what is your country of origin?
31:09It's the Republic of Georgia.
31:11It's a country known for its wine production.
31:14The women are very passionate.
31:15So I wanted to pull inspiration from like a merlot red and an outfit a woman would put on and feel like I'm fun, powerful, and I'm owning my femininity.
31:24This is my favorite piece of the day.
31:26Something avant-garde, edgy, and confident.
31:29I love that breath in the back where you just had the plain fabric.
31:33What is the fabrication?
31:34It's cashmere.
31:35It's getting a little heavy at the front, but when it was a movement, I really felt like there was a depth.
31:40I don't love this.
31:42To me, you took this cashmere and made it like less luxurious.
31:45Right now, it just dies for me.
31:47Not to get into my first tiff with Isaac on this.
31:50I hate you.
31:52For me, this had such incredible runway appeal.
31:56It took my breath away.
31:58I think we're always looking for that.
32:00Thank you, guys.
32:01Hi, Cynthia.
32:02Tell us where you're from.
32:03I'm from Brazil.
32:04I'm on the Project Runway Brazil.
32:06I choose to produce lace.
32:08This kind of art is sold on the beach by fishermen's wives.
32:13There's something like avant-garde about the ruffle, but it could have worked better if the ruffles were lighter.
32:20I really did get resolved in this, and I love the ecru color.
32:23You know, you have to always be careful with that, and I think that lace looks a little muddy.
32:28I was confused by the placement of the ruffles.
32:31I wondered whether or not it was for someone who was newly pregnant.
32:35So, Anthony Ryan, tell us about your design.
32:38I kind of pulled from my mother's side, the Texas Cherokee, the color and the vibrancy and the life that the culture had.
32:47My eye is so confused with a little bit of midriff showing the high-low on the skirt.
32:53There's a lot going on in there.
32:55I would say to you just to step back a bit and really have a clearer vision.
32:59I totally get what you are going for here.
33:01When we think of Native American, we think of things being cut, things being frayed.
33:07I wish you actually took that further and did the design in skins almost and made it look all leather.
33:14I'm not a big fan of this.
33:16There's a lack of precision, and something about the raw edges look threadbare as opposed to ironic.
33:22To me, it feels like you're not here.
33:26I'm probably not.
33:28I mean, can you just explain it a little bit?
33:30It's just...
33:40My grandmother literally passed like two or three days ago, and I don't think I had a second to kind of process that.
33:49Just with trying to get here and get this done, and I just didn't realize I think how much it affected me.
33:59We're sorry to hear about your loss.
34:01Thank you for your work, Anthony Ryan.
34:03Thank you to all the designers and your models.
34:07The judges and I will now deliberate, and we will call you back.
34:10Please join the others in the backstage lounge.
34:16Hey!
34:18So, tell us, what did they see?
34:20Well, Bedell almost fainted, but he had nothing to worry about.
34:24It's just that feeling of standing there on that runway again is like...
34:28You just learn how to hide it, you know, but inside it's like...
34:34Yeah.
34:36Baby, how you doing?
34:38Me?
34:39Yeah.
34:40Okay.
34:41It's one of those things you don't realize how much it affects you till after.
34:46Yeah.
34:47And how much someone meant to you.
34:52I thought they did a really good job for our first all-winners season, huh?
34:56Even our low scores, really not bad dresses.
34:59What was good about the runway is that we all have such differing opinions.
35:03Controversy.
35:04That's what it's all about in fashion.
35:05So, let's start with the looks that we really liked.
35:07Bedell.
35:08I think the proportions are really thoughtful.
35:11He's incredibly talented.
35:12He obviously has vision and he's unafraid.
35:14It's so great, this onion skin silk fabric, over top kind of woolens.
35:19There's a juxtaposition to that that's wonderful.
35:21He was smart to give us that kind of impact on the first runway.
35:27Let's talk about Dimitri.
35:29He took that kind of ethnic Belarus thing and gave it a whole new perspective.
35:33And he made me love velvet.
35:35The juxtaposition of the brodery and the velvet felt very new.
35:40Those cutouts gave it such a feminine look.
35:43If he didn't do those, I think it would have been a little...
35:46He just borders that line of being something we've all seen before.
35:50And I think he's on the right side of it.
35:54As opposed to Irina, who was totally overwhelmed by that project.
35:59Well, I thought it was impactful.
36:00Well, I think this is the most divisive.
36:02She talked about being passionate and I saw it in her design.
36:06We're talking about a rooster costume for a three year old going to a costume party on Halloween.
36:11I don't think we could take anything away from the execution of this piece.
36:14Especially around the hood.
36:16I agree with that.
36:19Let's move on to our low scoring looks.
36:22I was so disappointed in Anya.
36:24So much potentially there with that dress, but so much went wrong.
36:28I didn't appreciate the choice of patterns.
36:31I like her though.
36:32I want to see where she's going.
36:34If you're not going to give us impact in the first episode, how does she know she's not going home?
36:38You're going like, no, no, no, she didn't do enough.
36:40I actually think that dress is beautifully crafted.
36:43Come on.
36:46Anthony Ryan.
36:47He is obviously going through a hard time right now.
36:50And I could almost see where this could have been great and very representative.
36:54Do you know what? I don't.
36:55I doubt.
36:56I could. I actually do.
36:57Even a fraction of Anthony Ryan's attention is worth more than some of the other people in this competition.
37:04Well, maybe he's a more interesting thinker.
37:06I mean this, we say this a lot, but if you're going to go wrong, boy, you go wrong.
37:11I tend to respect that.
37:15Let's talk about Cynthia's dress.
37:16I just wrote, not enough.
37:18It had a silhouette that was different and interesting.
37:21Look, it doesn't have a waist.
37:22Dresses don't have to have waist.
37:23They should not have hunchbacks.
37:25Agreed.
37:29At least Anthony Ryan and Cynthia brought a design perspective, whereas to me, Anya did not.
37:34I can't disagree with that.
37:36I think Anya has taste.
37:38No, I like Anya's spirit.
37:39Cynthia feels thoughtful to me.
37:41And Anthony Ryan, we know what he can do.
37:44This is a tough one.
37:45It is a really tough one.
37:47Have we made our decision?
37:49Okay.
37:50Let's bring them back out.
37:57Designers, we have finally made our decision.
38:04Arena, Dimitri, Bedell, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge.
38:15Receiving $5,000 and your wedding look available online at jcp.com.
38:22And that designer is Dimitri.
38:32Congratulations to you, Dimitri.
38:33Thank you very much, Grace.
38:34I've never won the first challenge.
38:36That's the first one.
38:37Congrats.
38:38And to you as well, Arena and Bedell.
38:40Congrats.
38:41We will see all three of you next week.
38:45You can leave the runway and join your fellow designers.
38:48I won first challenge and I'm very happy about it because I think I deserve it.
38:53And I really want to win again, period.
38:56Cynthia, you had a low score, but you are safe.
39:00We will see you next week.
39:01You can leave the runway.
39:03Thank you, guys.
39:08Anthony Ryan, we know your work, but we didn't see you in this look.
39:14Anya, your look was beautiful, but it was also very simple.
39:18We expect you to take chances.
39:21We respect the fact that you each won your season.
39:25So tonight, there will be no elimination.
39:34You can join the other designers on the couch.
39:41Designers, just because no one was eliminated tonight does not mean this season will be easy.
39:46Far from it.
39:48Because two new designers are joining All Stars.
39:54And here they come.
40:01Hi.
40:04It's Julie Grubach, who won Project Runway Australia.
40:08Julie Grubach walks out.
40:10What?
40:12As both being from Australia, we could be really competitive with each other.
40:14And Sean Kelly, who won Project Runway in the U.S.
40:19I'm really excited to see Sean, but I'm also nervous because it's really steep competition.
40:24So Julie and Sean, please join your fellow designers.
40:27Just goes to show that on All Stars, anything can happen.
40:36This season on Project Runway All Stars.
40:39Headline news.
40:40Winners from Project Runway seasons worldwide are designing for the world title in Project Runway All Stars All Winners Edition.
40:46See y'all later.
40:47See y'all later.
40:49I can't see you.
40:52This is your captain speaking.
40:55It's hissing.
40:56Is that normal?
40:57Yeah.
40:58Cool.
41:00Please welcome Anna Kemp.
41:01Tamron Hall.
41:02Andrea Risebrah.
41:04Wendy Williams.
41:05Sophia Carson.
41:07Danica Patrick.
41:08Andrew Reynolds.
41:09Vanessa Williams.
41:10Iris Apfel.
41:12And Nina Garcia.
41:13They really are all so good.
41:16The supermodels, Lily Aldridge, Jasmine Took, Martha Hunt, Joan Smalls.
41:22Oh, hi.
41:24More, more, more.
41:25This is so annoying.
41:27You have something to say to me.
41:28Wouldn't you say it to my face?
41:30Didn't I tell you yesterday?
41:31I don't think this is like a say it to my face kind of place.
41:34No.
41:35It's kind of bull .
41:36This is a really competitive runway.
41:37Winners go home.
41:38That's really a slicking story.
41:41I just think this is such a genius idea.
41:43I think it's amazing.
41:44To me, that's all star thinking.
41:45And we are the biggest bunch of bitches in the world.
41:48This is definitely the most entertaining panel we've ever had.
41:52There's something quite intoxicating about this look.
41:54I think it's genius.
41:56Now that's a world champion, darlings.
42:13The world champion.
42:14Right.
42:15We're the biggest fan of the Aussies.
42:16Now that's theosies.
42:17They're so popular.
42:18You have to get to see the women's, the whole family.
42:19I think that's the best sense of doing better.
42:20And we're the most adorable.
42:22And we're not an intermatch in our life.
42:23We're the best naive.
42:24We're the best.
42:25We're the best.
42:26We're the best.
42:27We're the best generation of ladies out there.
42:28And you're looking for friends.
42:29Very proud.
42:30We're the best friends.
42:31You're the best friends.
42:32And that's the best friends.
42:33And well, that's the best friends.
42:34And so our team is.
42:36They're just a little bit.
42:38So the best friends,
42:39I'm gonna take a look at that.
