02:39Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects how the body uses glucose or sugar
02:43Carbs in foods like bread or fruit break down into sugar
02:46While insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps the sugar move into our cells
02:51With diabetes, the body doesn't make enough insulin or can't use it properly
02:56Leading to high blood sugar levels
02:58Over time, this can cause serious health issues like heart disease and blindness
03:02Many people with diabetes don't know that they have it
03:05So it's important to know the signs
03:07Common signs are frequent urination, extreme thirst and unexplained weight loss
03:13The good news is that with proper management, people with diabetes can live healthy and happy lives

04:12Welcome Trinidad and Tobago and of course all our viewers across the globe
04:16This is Beyond the Tape, I'm your host Marc Bessant
04:18And it's the start of the work week of course
04:21But the work goes on here and of course we have with us today
04:24Captain Valence Rambarat from the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team
04:28Welcome sir
04:29Pleasant good evening to the viewers on Beyond the Tape
04:32It's a pleasure to be here again
04:34Right, so we have a lot to discuss of course
04:37We have updates on some missing persons across the country
04:41As well as other news and so on
04:43And one of the things that we wanted to bring to your attention at the beginning
04:46Of course is that investigation related to Jaden Lalchan
04:52Who died by suicide on October 3rd
04:55And the police issued a statement by ACP Meister
04:59Indicating that following investigations into the tragic passing of Jaden Lalchan on October 3rd
05:04Southern Division investigators conducted extensive inquiries
05:08And have determined that there is currently insufficient evidence
05:12To substantiate any acts of bullying by any individual or group
05:17As a contributing factor to Jaden's death
05:20The evidence garnered to date does not meet the evidential threshold
05:24However the investigation remains active
05:27And we encourage anyone with new information or evidence to come forward
05:32As we continue to seek answers and provide closure for the family and the community
05:37We are committed to keeping the public informed as this investigation progresses
05:42Comments?
05:43Yeah well the thing is when you have situations like this
05:47And you don't have enough evidence
05:49And that I'm speaking about the police
05:52And what could happen also is that the Ministry of Education
05:58Ought to launch a parallel investigation
06:01I think you could call on the Permanent Secretary
06:04To ask for an investigation
06:07So that if there is lack of evidence to be gathered by the police
06:14Then the Ministry would be able to gather evidence from its officers
06:20And in this case it could be the Principal, Teachers, Dean and so forth
06:26So what you want in a case like this is a thorough investigation
06:29Because it is a complaint
06:32And the Ministry of Education ought to launch a parallel investigation
06:37And work with the police
06:39And this situation where the police is saying there is not enough evidence
06:45And the information they have doesn't reach the evidence threshold required
06:51I know there are very passionate officers out there of course
06:55The investigation is still active nevertheless
06:57So we believe in the coming weeks and days of course we will keep you posted on that
07:03Now I do believe you have some breaking news about a missing person
07:08That you wanted to share with us this afternoon
07:11Yes and I want to really get the attention of the residents of Siparia, Pinaldibi
07:18With respect to a missing woman by the name of Jamie Mohammed
07:23She is a 44 year old resident of Deiraj Streets, Mendez Village, Siparia
07:29And the circumstances of her being missing has us very concerned
07:33And we feel that persons in the district should be able to assist us in finding her
07:39Jamie Mohammed went missing on the 19th
07:44Although the poster has the 18th it is the 19th of October
07:48She lived with a pensioner, a 70 year old gentleman
07:53They had a companion relationship
07:56And on the evening of the 19th, Saturday the 19th
08:00He dropped her off at Kura Junction, corner of Kura Junction and the Siparia main road
08:07Where she would normally meet her female friends for an evening line at one of the nearby bars
08:14And she did not return home
08:17Now the thing with this is that we have information which we passed on to the police
08:23That sometime between 1 and 2 am on the morning of Sunday the 20th
08:30Jamie Mohammed was seen in the company of two persons who are well known to the police in the Siparia district
08:39And we feel strongly that the reason why Jamie hasn't come home after 23 days
08:48Is something would have happened to her
08:52We've spent two days, Tuesday and on Saturday
08:57The entire day on the search and rescue team with relatives
09:01This is some of the footage, what areas this year that you all have been searching?
09:05This is in the Penal, Queenham district
09:08This is to the left of Siparia when you're going west
09:11And also we did one on the east side as well
09:15So just for the benefit of viewers we would have checked the Murray Trace area
09:20We would have checked the Kura Trace area
09:23The Penal, the Queenham Beach area
09:26It took us hours to search every oil field road and every side road in that area going down to Queenham Beach
09:33As you know it's heavily forested
09:36And we went on to Scotts Road and Mendez village trying to see if we could locate her
09:45But thus far we were unable to locate her
09:52So we ask all residents of Siparia in particular to be vigilant
09:58And to report anything you can call us on 799-1453 or you can call 800-TIPS-999-555
10:07If you have any information which could lead
10:10And there you are seeing a huge dump in the Murray Trace area that would have taken us a better time to go through
10:17And it's unbelievable that on a road in Trinidad you have the existence of these large garbage heaps
10:24With a ton load of garbage but we had to go through these to make sure that nothing untoward was present in the garbage heap
10:34Mark it takes a lot of resources to conduct searches like this and a lot of effort
10:40And we there and maybe sometime tomorrow thereafter we would want to resume the search
10:49But we need information so we're depending on the residents of Siparia to try and jog your memory
10:57Especially those who reside in the immediate Siparia district
11:03To please see if you can recall anything, any shouting, any scream for help, anything like that
11:11Because we believe that anything that would have happened to her was done against her will
11:17And so we're relying on you to jog your memory and see if you can provide us with a bit of information
11:24Also to check your CCTV cameras if you still have the footage because today is day 23
11:31And contact us at 799-1453
11:36Of course and you can also contact the nearest police station of the Siparia CID as well
11:44If you have any information that is pertinent to the disappearance of Jamie Mohammed
11:50Of course missing 23 days and counting
11:54We're going to take a look now at our headlines
12:14Those are some of the headlines of course within the last 24 hours
12:42And certainly one of those headlines that have not really gotten to the newspapers yet
12:48But it's obviously online and social media
12:51Is the alleged kidnapping of three Venezuelan women yesterday evening outside
12:59Or in the vicinity of rather Rodney's supermarket at the corner of I believe it's Dream Fiddlers Street and Kokorik Road in Arima
13:09The information that we were told was that the one young woman who has been identified as Josebel Marquez
13:17Was dropped off at that area together with two other females
13:22The identities of course unknown at this time
13:25And they were about to meet I believe one of Marquez's relatives who was not far away
13:32And in so doing, before they can get to that meet-up point
13:37A grey vehicle pulled up and a number of occupants came out of that vehicle
13:43And demanded that all three women get into this vehicle
13:48And they sped off
13:50Now a short while after this, apparently it would seem that one of the persons who were there to meet Ms. Marquez
13:58Or somebody else got a text message from the alleged kidnappers
14:04Saying that there was money to be paid to them
14:08That money that are owed to them before they can release these people
14:14As well as they warned them not to speak to anybody about this
14:18But of course they would have witnessed this you know
14:20And it's very traumatic
14:22I did speak to some officers who said that obviously AKU is also assisting in this
14:27As well as Arima Police Station
14:29And officers there hoping to find these perpetrators and of course rescue these women
14:36Alright, but this is new to us
14:39So I guess when we leave here we try to dig up as much as we could get
14:43And see how best we could assist
14:46But it seems to be again kidnapping
14:49And some demand for a ransom
14:52Monetary payment
14:54And I guess the perpetrators would know that they are breaking the law
14:58And I know I have faith and confidence in the anti-kidnapping unit
15:03And trying their best to resolve it
15:05And if they need our assistance they know it's a call on us
15:09Right, so most certainly
15:11We're going to take a short break and we'll be back
15:13Stay with us

18:16Welcome back to Beyond the Tape, I'm your host Marc Bessant
18:18Joined today by Captain Valence Van Bram from the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team
18:24And we want to just continue onward to another video clip
18:29Taken by Dexter Phillip from the Express early this morning
18:32It's supposedly a suspected arson attack that took place at a scrapyard
18:39In the Buanitento area in Princeston sometime early this morning
18:45I'm not stating the extent of losses to the owner of the scrapyard
18:51Or what might be the motive behind this attack
18:57But the police are surely investigating this latest attack here
19:01And we know that there have been certain stipulations with scrapyard dealers
19:06And so on over the last couple of months
19:09And of course there was an incident involving a scrapyard dealer
19:13Several months ago in Claxton Bay after he was shot and killed
19:18And the perpetrators in that particular incident are still at large
19:24Yes, but we have information, Marc, that I know the area well
19:30It's Glenroy in the Buanitento area in Princeton
19:34So we've had a missing lady there who has yet to be found
19:39And I don't know if you recall there was a mentally challenged gentleman
19:42Who was shot by the municipal police
19:45Yeah, a couple of months ago, right?
19:47A couple of months ago
19:48So we're familiar with the area
19:50But our information is that most likely the incident
19:54The fire was ignited by a mentally ill person from the district
19:59In fact, we know the name
20:01So that may be the cause of that tremendous blaze early this morning
20:07Right, so as I said, the police were still looking into it
20:10But as I said, the information is there
20:13And unfortunately another homicide took place over the weekend
20:18Involving Mr. Terry Ira
20:22Apparently he was shot and killed inside a bar in Mayaro
20:27And I know that the family and so on
20:31Had indicated that a couple weeks before this
20:36He had some threats made on his life
20:39You know, the police would have gotten some information
20:45That he had an altercation with a group of people about two weeks ago
20:49And was threatened and he made a report to the police
20:52So I don't know if his death is in any way connected
20:58To that particular incident where he was shot and killed
21:02You know, it's quite frankly
21:04Criminals have no kind of regard for wherever you are now
21:08In a public space anyway
21:10It's really, really sad
21:12Yeah, and that's my hometown
21:14I am originally from Rio Claro
21:17I know everyone and I boast that I know everyone in the Mayaro, Rio Claro district
21:22So these persons are known to me
21:26His mother is well known to me
21:29As well as the other gentleman who was shot and hospitalized
21:33His father is well known to me
21:35And really and truly he's really foolishness that's going on
21:39They are good friends, you know
21:41Even the shooter who has, we know who it is
21:44They are all friends
21:46There was an incident previously
21:48You know, long time Marquis Avilel fights with Butler and so forth
21:53Many years ago and then they would patch up and make up
21:56But today the gun seems to be the solution
22:00And I think that is driving a lot of, some of the crime
22:03Because Rio Claro, Mayaro is really a quiet rural part of Trinidad and Tobago
22:08And not known for much gun violence
22:11But this here is really nonsense, is foolishness
22:15It is young men who are unable to resolve their problems peacefully
22:21After an argument and they are just taking it to a step further
22:25Resulting in the death of persons
22:28And you made a good point
22:30It happens most of the time outside of a bar or something like that
22:35And the general population becomes concerned
22:38The fear of crime is real
22:40Because you cannot go and just patronize a bar just like that anymore
22:44Because at any moment something could happen
22:47And this here is evidence that that is true
22:50And as you speak of that and the fear of crime
22:52And about public shootings happening quite frequently in Trinidad and Tobago
22:57We had an incident on the avenue I believe yesterday morning involving
23:02A shooting incident along the avenue involving three women
23:07Apparently who were shot in this altercation
23:10I think the police have identified the perpetrator in this particular matter
23:15And they are looking for him
23:17I understand that they actually went to his home in the western area of Trinidad and Tobago
23:22Looking for the perpetrator
23:24And we have had a number of shootings unfortunately
23:28In some instances over the last few months
23:30Resulting in the deaths of various people
23:33Right along that busy strip there on the area of Peter Avenue
23:37And it's really disheartening
23:40Because it's a social hub where a number of people gather
23:44Quite frequently on a Friday night, Saturday night
23:47Those are the peak times you will see a lot of people on those areas
23:50And even Sunday
23:51Yeah, and it's a public place
23:53But the other thing you have to ask is
23:55What I've read somewhere that teens are involved
23:58I'm not too sure of the ages of the young girls who were shot
24:03But the question has to be asked
24:05What are they doing this hour
24:08It was early morning I believe
24:10And what were they doing out there at that time?
24:14Did their parents give them permission?
24:16Did the parents know that they were out there?
24:19And how it affects us
24:23Or how it impacts on our work is that
24:26When you have all these missing teenagers
24:28We have to wonder what they get themselves into
24:31And so really earlier in an earlier program
24:35I was talking about the social fabric of the country
24:38These young teens were not supposed to be there
24:41Yeah, and just to piggyback on that
24:46We also had another brazen incident last night
24:49At Las Alturas in Mova
24:52Where apparently a gentleman was sitting on a stairway
24:57And the video you see there is one of his suspects
25:01There was two of them
25:02They came actually with the intent to rob this individual
25:05Who was sitting on a stairway close to his apartment
25:08On seeing them brandishing firearms
25:10He ran into his home
25:12And apparently the unidentified suspect there
25:15Seen lying there
25:16He apparently ran into the man's home
25:21There was a struggle
25:23Of course I understand based on the information
25:26That the firearm that he had jammed
25:28And he had a second firearm
25:30Where I think it might have fallen
25:33Or gone with something
25:34And the victim who was in there
25:37They had a struggle
25:38And he was able to get to the firearm
25:40Before this unidentified man
25:42And shot him
25:44And apparently he would have stumbled out of the apartment
25:46And collapsed the show
25:48What I was also told by a police officer
25:54A couple of minutes ago
25:55Just before I came on here
25:56Is that that individual is one of the persons
26:00Allegedly was involved in the R7 fashion robbery
26:06That took place on Abercrombie Street
26:08A couple of nights ago
26:10And he's pretty certain based on the information
26:12That they had
26:13So they as a perennial
26:14Have a choice with these guys
26:16To be wanting to rob people and so on
26:18And the guy was twice lucky
26:20Because one firearm failed to go off
26:24And then luckily he was able to disarm the gentleman
26:27Of the second firearm
26:29So he has to be thanking his lucky stars
26:32That he escaped that encounter
26:34Most definitely
26:36So we're going to take a short break
26:37And when we come back
26:38We'll have more about missing persons
26:40Stay with us
26:42We'll be right back

29:49We have a couple of updates
29:51We have a couple of updates
29:53We have a couple of updates of course
29:55Of persons that are missing and so on
29:57And of course Captain Rambarat
29:59Is going to walk us through that
30:01Yes, so as we
30:03Ended October and transition
30:05Into November there's always
30:07Some carry over of cases
30:09So we ended October 2024
30:11With 46
30:13Reports
30:15Of missing persons
30:17And we now have
30:19Four outstanding
30:21For October and those four
30:23Are Sita Prasad
30:25Sita Prasad is from the
30:27Same Siparia district
30:29Now note that she's 23
30:31Today's 23 days old
30:33Since 23 days since she has been missing
30:35But we have no red flags
30:37On this one, we're working quietly
30:39With her father to try to
30:41Get her to return home
30:43Ashley Jobe from Tobago
30:45Roxborough, Tobago, he's still missing
30:47Unaccounted for
30:49The problem we have with Ashley Jobe
30:51Mark, I could come on this
30:53Program and say to you last week
30:55Tuesday and Saturday
30:57We spent two full days in the field
30:59Looking for Jamie Marmad
31:01We are volunteers
31:03The problem I have is when you have persons missing
31:05At sea, there's no authority
31:07Who is held accountable to report
31:09To the public to say listen
31:11We did 64 area
31:13Sweeps of the north coast of Tobago
31:15South coast, east coast, west coast
31:17Looking for Ashley Jobe
31:19And with all the
31:21Coast Guard vessels
31:23How many searches were
31:25Conducted to find
31:27This gentleman
31:29Now Hunter's search and rescue team
31:31Does not have
31:33The capability
31:35To do conduct
31:37Sea searches like that
31:39So we depend on the authorities
31:41To conduct those searches
31:43In an attempt to locate him
31:45We haven't had any
31:47Information on what they would have done
31:49Pablo
31:51He's still missing
31:53I have to call the police tomorrow to get
31:55An update on it because the contact we have
31:57For his relative
31:59That contact isn't
32:01Answering the phone anymore
32:03So we have to get an update
32:05And Kevin Rolox is one who
32:07Went missing in 2022
32:09And was only brought our attention in the month
32:11Of October, so we're working
32:13With his family to try to
32:15Locate Kevin
32:17Rolox. If anybody out there
32:19Who knows the gentleman
32:21He's
32:23Originally from the
32:25Curep District, if it is
32:27You know him and you have information
32:29Where we can locate him
32:31Please contact us at 799
32:331453
32:35As we finish October
32:37We had one outstanding there
32:39Who was located Mark and I think
32:41Very early that morning you and I
32:43Communicated sometime around 5 a.m.
32:45Subish Ram Narain and
32:47I'm thankful
32:49That he was located
32:51I think at 5 a.m. you were
32:53Trying to confirm and I was trying to confirm
32:55On my end that he was safely released
32:57So that's a happy
32:59And then we were concerned about
33:01His welfare during the month of
33:03October. So we're getting to November
33:05Now. Yes. So I know
33:07Before we spoke about a couple of
33:09Guys that I know that were missing in
33:11Point 14. I
33:13Didn't hear anything for quite a while
33:15And I think the public is
33:17Asking a lot of questions about
33:19These gentlemen. So for
33:21Today's the 11th of
33:23October and we have 14
33:25Missing persons, reports
33:27Of 14 missing persons
33:29And we have 8 unaccounted
33:31For and this 8 we have
33:33Some that are very worrisome and that
33:35Includes Warren
33:37Morris from the
33:39Egypt Point 14 district
33:41And he has been missing. We
33:43Went down there. We conducted searches
33:45For him and we've not been able to
33:47Locate him. We are in contact with
33:49A lot of people from the Point 14 district
33:51And they're trying to assist us
33:53In trying to locate him
33:55And the ones that you just raised
33:57That is Junior Taylor Winston
33:59Roster. Now if you
34:01Recall the last day when we left the program
34:03On last week Monday we were
34:05Heading out to continue
34:07Some what we call
34:09Recommissions to
34:11Establish search areas
34:13To look for
34:15Junior Taylor and
34:17Winston Roster
34:19We were told that
34:21There was some work
34:23Being done by the Trinidad and Tobago
34:25Police and we were asked to
34:27Hold our hands a bit and
34:29Be discreet about how we
34:31Conduct searches for them. But
34:33If nothing is forthcoming
34:35By tomorrow
34:37We plan to launch some searches
34:39But I know the last time you said
34:41That the search
34:43Would have zoned into the
34:45Long circular Dubai area
34:47We had a discussion about that
34:49Yeah, that Bellevue
34:51Actually we narrowed it down to Bellevue
34:53So the DB
34:55Raised us next door to that
34:57And because
34:59By tracking his phone
35:01We were able to
35:03See that they were moving
35:05In that area constantly and then the
35:07Movement stopped. So
35:09We believe strongly that
35:11Bellevue comes into play and
35:13We would want to
35:15Launch searches up in north
35:17I don't want to say
35:19Which specific areas
35:21But we have to launch searches for these
35:23Gentlemen, they are outstanding for too long
35:25And so you have
35:27Antonio Mangatal
35:29This is a case we are handling
35:31With the police and the children's authority
35:33We had a sighting
35:35Of him and the children's authority
35:37When they did not get him
35:39But we are pretty sure we know where he is
35:41And it's just a matter of time before
35:43He is located. This case
35:45Here I will say more about this
35:47When I come on the next program. The next girl
35:49Is Karina Sanchez
35:51She has been missing since the
35:53Fourth of the 10th but reported to us
35:55In November. Now this is the
35:57Third time Karina has been missing
35:59And this week
36:01We intend to launch
36:03One day a very important search
36:05To locate Karina Sanchez
36:07And this search will be conducted
36:09Jointly
36:11With the Trinidad and Tobago
36:13Police Service. So it may happen
36:15Sometime early this week
36:17We are very confident that
36:19We could get her but we cannot get her
36:21Without the police going
36:23With us because it will be a challenging
36:25Search and it will be a search in the
36:27Bushes. And that is in the
36:29Guadalupe area?
36:31Yes, but I think we extended it to
36:33The Sangre Gandhi district
36:35Where we will be heading. Alright
36:37And I spoke about
36:39Jamie Mohammed
36:41She is outstanding for November
36:43And
36:45We feel strongly
36:47That somehow may have come to Jamie
36:49And we
36:51Asking again the
36:53Residents of
36:55Main Road
36:57To try and jog their
36:59Memory and see if they could recollect
37:01Anything happening early
37:03On Sunday morning, Sunday
37:05The 20th of
37:09October
37:11So that they could assist us in trying to
37:13Locate her. We have
37:15Rihanna
37:17She is also outstanding
37:19I was in communication with the police this
37:21Morning in Faisalabad and
37:25Our assistance may be needed but
37:27We know exactly where she is
37:29It is just a matter of time before
37:31We reunite Rihanna with her
37:33Father
37:35And I can imagine
37:37The emotional pain that some of these parents go through
37:39I mean, knowing that
37:41The young child is out there
37:43And many days have elapsed
37:45And for one reason or the other of course
37:47And you know, I don't know how you
37:49Are able to emotionally and mentally deal with that
37:51When you have to go and speak with these
37:53Parents. Yeah, most of the times
37:55Mark, when they called it
37:57Emotionally distraught, crying
37:59Begging for us to try to locate them
38:01We have one last person
38:03Christina Vodana
38:05And this is a tiny instance of what you mentioned
38:07Christina would have left
38:09Pool Village in Rio Claro
38:11And right now she is in
38:13Faisalabad. We have an idea of where
38:15In Faisalabad
38:17Hopefully we could tie in that
38:19With the Rinaldo
38:21The
38:23Rihanna Moraldo
38:25When we get down to Faisalabad this week
38:27We could go and try to locate both of them
38:29But it is what the teenage
38:31Girls are doing
38:33And we have two cases
38:35Coming up this week
38:37Where they're in camps
38:39They're in camps
38:41They're not in houses, they have no running water
38:43No electricity, no
38:45Toilet facilities
38:47And they're just moving from camp to camp
38:49To other structures in the district
38:51And
38:53They're not making it easy
38:55For their parents
38:57And
38:59The point I always make is that
39:01Something could happen
39:03To these girls
39:05When they don't have proper supervision
39:07Or they're not under the care of their parents
39:09Things will happen
39:11Just like the teens on
39:13Peter Avenue
39:15I don't know if their parents knew that they were there
39:17But things happen
39:19And it's getting worse
39:21And these young ladies
39:23Are vulnerable
39:25Certainly
39:27We're hopeful that these people
39:29That we highlighted
39:31Obviously will be found and instead
39:33And of course the most recent matter
39:35Jamie Mohammed
39:37We're asking anybody
39:39Because she was at a particular bar
39:41Anyone around that area
39:43That can assist the police and my extension
39:45Mr. Rambarat
39:47And his team
39:49Please bring the footage forward
39:51For us, we are making an appeal to you
39:53We're going to take a short break and we'll be back
39:55Stay with us

43:27And the other thing is, you should not build up a headquarters where you have the drones
43:34organised by police and hunters, search and rescue, looking for people.
43:38As soon as you hear the announcement, these drones will be put out immediately
43:43and you'll have a bit of great help. That's the thing.
43:47Yeah, I agree with you, Kola. So, Kola, I just want to say something.
43:51Enough work has been published by our team to give an indication to the authorities
43:57that what's needed in this country is a national search and rescue response team
44:02so that emergencies and looking for persons could be done quickly and effectively.
44:10What you're talking about drones, Mark, I don't know, I love drones.
44:15We have three in our team, right?
44:17Now, drones are the number one attack weapon in a war.
44:21You wouldn't believe that. It's no longer tanks and the air fighters.
44:27It is drones, and so the Kola is saying something, that we need good drones,
44:33we need to work with the TTPs, they have good drones as well,
44:36but everybody just needs to upgrade.
44:39I was reading last night, you have drones with fibre optic lines,
44:44so it doesn't have to be wireless, you could go into confined spaces,
44:49and that will help us greatly.
44:51The Kola is intelligent, he's following the use of drones, and I like that.
44:55Yeah, I really enjoy that, because that's the way we have to go as a team.
44:59We have three drones, we just have to keep upgrading and getting better at what we do.
45:05Well, I suppose, I mean, as you said, you called for a search and rescue centre.
45:11You know, if it falls under the ambit of NEMA, and if you have any kind of partnership with them,
45:19in some measure, of course, I imagine that you all do.
45:22Yeah, we do, we do, but the thing is, somebody has to take a policy decision, right?
45:28So, we talk about Ashley Joven to be with me soon.
45:32He was last seen just nine kilometres off Roxborough,
45:36and I'm saying that they are very light search airplanes, not fixed-wing airplanes,
45:43that is relatively cheap, that could be purchased for these purposes.
45:50They also, well, the Coast Guard would have patrol vessels,
45:56but a couple of those could be brought into the team so that you don't have to get authorisation.
46:02Too much layers of bureaucracy to get it out, and you see,
46:06but these things, all the equipment must be able to move quickly, very quickly.
46:11Within minutes, they must be dispatched, and search should start.
46:17Yeah, surely. I agree with you a hundred percent on that,
46:20as we did talk about when people are going out on hikes and so on,
46:24you know, taking particular precautions and carrying certain equipment.
46:29Speaking of hikes, I understand that you all would have carried a school to a little hike yesterday, was it?
46:37Yesterday, yes, Vishnu Boys Hindu College.
46:40So, they would have reached out to us, 78 students, parents, teachers.
46:46So, their interest was to have a hike to the Maracas Waterfall and have a safe hike at that.
46:52So, saying to the public that if it is you need our assistance, you need guides,
46:58free of charge to take your young ones out there to experience the outdoor,
47:04we will join you. Just call 799-1453.
47:08So, we had a tremendous day with the kids there, and you're seeing the video.
47:14They enjoyed themselves, and there were those who had some difficulty,
47:20not really in terms of the terrain, but in terms of stamina to make the hour walk to go and the hour walk to come back.
47:26But for us, what I could safely say is that of this large group of persons, a hundred plus persons,
47:34there were no incident, no scratches, no safety issues.
47:38We brought everyone back safely.
47:41It's a waterfall, man.
47:42Yes, it's a beautiful waterfall, and we had an enjoyable time there yesterday.
47:47So, if you need our assistance, especially with the young ones,
47:52we will be there to assist you with arranging your hikes,
47:56and these are well-arranged hikes so that we keep safety in mind,
48:02and we want to see the kids get out.
48:04How often would you get requests like this?
48:06Yes, we do get requests for two sets of things.
48:10One is to accompany persons on hikes,
48:12and the second request is from schools to do indoor activities with their children
48:18with respect to some of the equipment we use, and we simulate rescue operations with them,
48:24and if we have some time out, we do some exercises with the kids with the utilization of ropes.
48:30Now, ropes, we have some of the most expensive ropes in the country,
48:35very soft to your hand, but they take a lot of weight,
48:38and so we teach them these rope skills that ascend and descend slopes quickly,
48:44and also how to do a better rigging with the ropes.
48:48So, we do this, what we call outreach programs with members of the public,
48:54and they feel free.
48:55We have a big team, 32, and so we can divide up ourselves and send part of the team to look after your interests.
49:04I imagine with the dry season upon us soon, there will be the demand for more hikes.
49:09Yes, sure.
49:11Alright, we're going to take a short break, and we'll be back. Stay with us.

50:02Alright, ladies, we're going out on a doubles run, eh?
50:04I've eaten five on the spot, one time.
50:07Morning, Greens.
50:08Hi, Dolly.
50:09You should go by the solar-powered doubles man.
50:11He's cooking doubles fresh on the spot and using a solar-powered fan to keep the smoke out.
50:15It's real cool. You have to try it.
50:17I'm sure he's charging more for his solar doubles.
50:20It actually saves him money to go solar, so I doubt that.
50:24Let's go see if this solar doubles man is saying anything.
50:26Dolly, you want to come for the ride?
50:28Yes, please.
50:29Alright, come on.
50:30Solar power to the people.

51:58Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
51:59I'm your host, Mark Bessant.
52:00Of course, joined today by Captain Vance Rambarat.
52:03And we often talk about, you know, uninvited guests into our homes.
52:09Yes.
52:10But this one is a little bit different.
52:12Right.
52:13So, yesterday, again, we would have received a distress call
52:16from a resident in the Coover District.
52:19And this is our trained snake handler, Rocky Singh,
52:23just reaching behind the air-conditioned unit
52:26to remove what is called the red-tailed boar constrictor,
52:29better known as the mackerel.
52:30And look how easy he does it.
52:32Very calmly, he takes a look at it and handles it well.
52:36It's constricting his left forearm,
52:40but nevertheless, he's there.
52:42About three weeks ago, we captured and released one like that,
52:46probably about four times the size of that one
52:49in the Rio Claro District.
52:51So, Rocky Singh there doing a great job.
52:53And then we went on to release the snake and another member.
52:57So, this is where Tunga and Justin, they were with him,
53:02and they would just simply put it in our bag
53:05and prepare it to go to our forest area
53:07to release it.
53:10But look how calmly he handles it,
53:12and he's one of our really trained members
53:16who handles these snakes properly.
53:18It's a non-venomous snake, and this is Kristen Rambarat.
53:22Again, in the central range,
53:25they would have gone to the central range.
53:27When we capture snakes, we release it into the environment
53:31where the snake would be in its own habitat
53:34and be able to get a source of water and food.
53:37So, they release it.
53:38If you look carefully at the background there,
53:40there's a pond down there.
53:42One of the reasons the snake would enter your property
53:45could be that it was looking for water.
53:49So, that's why we release them
53:51when they enter people's homes near a water source.
53:54So, there he is making his way out happy
53:57and then for this beautiful reptile.
54:01So, that's part of all we do.
54:04Mark 7991453.
54:07Any reptiles or animals, wild animals,
54:11that you may have encounters with,
54:13we will come and get them and release them safely
54:17back into their own environment.
54:19Yeah, and we want to urge our viewers, of course,
54:22if there's a reptile of that sort
54:25or any other dangerous reptile that you might spot
54:28in your backyard or near your house or in your house
54:31and you don't know how to handle it,
54:33you know, you reach out to the hunters,
54:35search and rescue team.
54:36And just before we go,
54:37I just wanted to talk just about, I guess,
54:39not just, you know, those types of snakes,
54:42but even the venomous ones as well.
54:44Yeah, and we ask you to stay away from the venomous ones.
54:46Even a person like me who loves snakes
54:48and can handle snakes,
54:49I would stay away from the venomous ones.
54:52Rocky and Ronnie, they can handle it.
54:54But the venomous ones,
54:56especially the smaller ones that's hard to recognize,
55:00please don't play with it and feel it.
55:03It's just a baby.
55:04Stay away from it
55:06because those are the ones that are more feisty.
55:09The older guys will just look at you
55:13and make sure that you don't step on him
55:15and he wouldn't interfere with you.
55:16But the younger ones,
55:17the ones you meet on the hiking trails
55:19that just curl up on leaves,
55:21stay far away from them
55:23and get somebody to remove them
55:25and place them somewhere else.
55:27Now, of course, when you're going into those areas,
55:29you have to have proper foot gear,
55:31maybe rubber boots.
55:32Yeah, rubber boots work well in that type of environment.
55:36But as you say, in the dry season,
55:37they will want to wear their sneakers.
55:39We urge you to put on your sneakers and socks.
55:43You need to protect that area just above your ankle.
55:46Do not leave it exposed.
55:48Yes, certainly.
55:49Some good advice there from Captain Ramarat.
55:52And in closing, anything you would like to add quickly
55:54to our viewers?
55:55Yeah, I just want to go back to the Jamie Mohammed case
55:58and put out a pitch there to the Siparia residents
56:02to try and see if you could help us locate
56:05a Jamie Mohammed, 44-year-old female
56:09who is missing from the Siparia district.
56:13All right.
56:14So we are hopeful that you will have heard his plea.
56:16Remember, tonight we run at, repeat,
56:19sorry, tonight at 11.30.
