Relief for the family of businessman Suvesh Ramnarine as he has returned home safely- following his release by his kidnappers early this morning in Central Trinidad.

Ramnarine was kidnapped by men posing as police officers at a bar in Cunupia in mid-October who later demanded a ransom for his safe release after his vehicle was found abandoned the following day.

00:06this morning after the kidnap victim was released by his captors, much to the relief and happiness
00:12of his relatives. Senior investigators told TV6 News that Ramnarain was released by his
00:18captors shortly before 2am in the Kunupia area. Ramnarain, who appeared to be in good
00:23health, later eluded residents of the area and was subsequently taken to the Kunupia
00:28Police Station before officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit picked him up. Investigators say that
00:34Ramnarain was taken to a doctor and appeared to be in good spirits before giving a statement
00:37to the officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit. A source told TV6 News that his family was
00:43happy to have him home safe and sound. Several business owners in Kunupia and other districts
00:49in central Trinidad have complained that they have been victims of extortion over the last
00:53year and more. Investigators say they are pursuing specific leads related to Ramnarain's
00:58kidnapping on October 12. CCTV footage that went viral on October 13 showed Ramnarain
01:05sitting at Rob's bar in Kunupia when several men dressed in what appeared to be tactical
01:09police uniforms entered the bar and asked Ramnarain to come with them. He calmly complied
01:17and left with the men who came in a black SUV with flashing blue lights. The imposters
01:23also took Ramnarain's SUV which was found abandoned the following day by police. His
01:29kidnappers had demanded a $3 million ransom for his safe release. Mark Besant, TV6 News.
