The Minister of National Security and the Commisioner of Police attended the final rites today for Police Constable Krishna Banahar who was killed this week during a police exercise.
The funeral service took place at the officer's home in Fyzabad.

00:00Paul Bearers, carrying the coffin containing the body of police constable Krishna Banar,
00:06walked past a police honor guard into his Faisabad home, where families and loved ones
00:11gathered to say their final farewell to the officer who was killed during an anti-crime
00:16exercise.
00:18The officiating pundits acknowledged that the occasion invoked heartbreak, rage and
00:22fear, but he asked the families and friends to also accept that it was Krishna's time
00:28to go.
00:29We all have to go our separate ways.
00:37Some may say he died an untimely death.
00:38It is not so, according to Hindu script, yes.
00:41No one is born before their time, no one dies before their time.
00:44When that appointed time comes, we come into this world.
00:49When that appointed time comes, we leave this world.
00:51So the time has come for Krishna to leave this world.
00:54And as hard as it is for all of us, we have to let him go.
01:04We have to let him go.
01:05He has done his duty as a son, as a brother, as a friend, as a neighbor, as a co-worker,
01:14as a citizen of this country, as a devotee of God, as a God's son.
01:18He has done all his duties upon this earth.
01:21His mission has come to an end, and he must now return back to the general.
01:28Krishna's cousin recounted their times together.
01:31I was the first person to give you your first bath and your first lunch.
01:37You have grown to be a great young man, and so is all of us in this world.
01:43I will miss your caring, your skin, your smile, your presence.
01:50I will always wish I would see a singing voice, that love was a miracle.
01:57But God had another plan for you.
02:00I never thought I would have to say goodbye to you so soon.
02:05May the Lord bless you, and may your soul rest in peace.
02:10Till we see you, love you always.
02:13Also present at the funeral service was Commissioner of Police Ella Harewood-Christopher,
02:17Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hines,
02:20and ASP Wayne Meister.
02:23I have come here on behalf of the government
02:26and all of the people of the Republic of Trinidad
02:29and to be able to share those cries, to share that pain,
02:33to share that burden, and to let you know
02:36that we are in respect and honor and admiration of this young man.
02:44And we thank you for having supported him
02:49through his childhood and through his days
02:52in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
02:55We, like you, are at pain and at loss.
