A bandit has been killed by police following a robbery at a Chaguanas business place. The incident happened early Thursday morning. Police also recovered a firearm and ammunition from the dead suspect.

00:00According to police, two armed suspects entered a business place at Pear Road along the Karani-Savannah Road in Felicity around 2.15 a.m. on Thursday.
00:10The men announced a hold-up and subsequently robbed the cashier of quantities of cash and alcohol.
00:16One of the assailants then entered a silver Nissan Tida in order to escape while the second bandit ran off.
00:23Officers from the traffic and highway branch who arrived shortly after the robbery chased after the suspect who fled on foot.
00:30Police say the bandit fired several shots at the officers before he escaped.
00:35However, around 3 a.m., police from the Central Division Task Force Area North and Emergency Response Patrol noticed a man in Charleyville
00:44fitting the description of the assailant and they began chasing after him.
00:48Police say the bandit pointed a firearm in their direction and in keeping with the TTPS's use-of-force policy,
00:55officers fired in the direction of the suspect and injured him.
00:59The suspect was subsequently taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
01:06Police say they retrieved a Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition that the deceased had in his possession.
01:16Police are continuing investigations.
