00:00The following program contains extreme violence.
00:11Viewer discretion is advised.
00:31Beyond the Tape will be back after these messages.
00:51Hi guys, today we're here to talk about acute gastroenteritis where you have vomiting and
01:01diarrhoea.
01:02The thing is that when you're having that, the bowel is very irritated.
01:06So for the vomiting, just to stop it, you can't really stop it, what you can do is give
01:10small amounts frequently, like 5 mls of fluid every 10 to 15 minutes, and it could be tear
01:17light, watered down Gatorade, watered down coconut water, G-Sol, nothing with sugar by
01:24itself, just use that combination regularly.
01:27And for the diarrhoea, if you have a large diarrhoea, replace that diarrhoea, it's all
01:32enough to balance the fluid, alright?
01:34Try to make sure the child does not get dehydrated.
01:38Thank you very much.

02:50Good evening Trinidad and Tobago and our viewers across the globe as well.
03:10I'm your host Mark Basant and you're watching Beyond the Tape.
03:15Sicily has been another bloody weekend entering into today as well where between Saturday
03:22night and up to today we had actually seven more murders.
03:28Of course one of those was, it started with a retired, sorry a suspended police officer
03:35who was doing security duty at a supermarket in Arima along Old Town Road when he was accosted
03:44and shot and killed by armed bandits who attempted to apparently rob the supermarket.
03:50You also had the unfortunate killing about two hours after that around 9.30 of a gentleman
03:56by the name of Karen Apple White.
03:58It was in San Juan where gunmen similarly came up in a vehicle, came out and opened
04:07fire on him and then ran off.
04:11And similar incident occurred about an hour later in Arima in Cleaver Woods area when
04:18a nickel jack was shot and killed while standing in a yard, a car pulled up, gunmen alighted
04:24from the vehicle and shot, opened fire and then shot him several times and then escaped.
04:29And then police also was kept busy on Sunday when they were also called, got an anonymous
04:36call about an unidentified body that had multiple gunshot wounds in the Balthazar Street
04:42area in Tunapuna.
04:44And leading into that of course there was a killing in Mova last night where three people
04:50were shot and one died chewing brown.
04:53And then there was a killing early this morning in Arima, Joel Sanchez, gunman entered his
04:59home and apparently with his family in the house and basically one of them said don't
05:06harm the family, just deal with him.
05:08Shot him there and he left.
05:10Then we also had a killing a few hours ago at Old St. Joseph Road, Lavant Hill when a
05:17man was shot.
05:18He's still to be identified.
05:19So Sydney, it's been a rather bloody, I'd say 24 to 36 hours.
05:26And one of the other things that we also have been monitoring is kidnap victim Suresh Ramnarang.
05:34It's been nine days since he has been taken by men posing as police officers in supposedly
05:43police tactical gear at a bar, at Rob's Bar in Kanupia.
05:49And I did have a discussion with a senior officer earlier today and he said that they
05:54are working assiduously and they are optimistic and they remain hopeful and the family is
05:59also praying.
06:00So we want to wish the family that they will be reunited with Mr. Ramnarang as soon as
06:07possible.
06:08And of course, you know, one of the people or organizations that have been very active
06:16in helping find missing persons is the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
06:21Now, Captain Valens Ramnarang is actually on assignment assisting with a rescue in Tobago.
06:27So we have another man in command here, Mr. Glenn Robinson, welcome sir.
06:32So, just, I mean, all that you all would have been a little bit active with this Ramnarang
06:38matter since his disappearance and how has that been going?
06:43Well, because of the complexity of the case, we cannot get or give out too much information.
06:55But we wait to see what's going to happen, you know, again, we have a lot of other missing
07:04people that we work on right now on the cases.
07:09So every day, every day, we only look out here.
07:12Well, I know that this matter, there is no engaging Hunter Search and Rescue in Tobago.
07:19If you can just give us a little background into that, of this gentleman who's missing
07:23his name, etc.
07:25Okay.
07:26This is Mr. Orr, 38 years old.
07:29They went hunting, he and his partner went Tuesday in the forest, which is the reserve
07:36forest in Tobago, in Pembroke.
07:40And apparently, one hunter came out, I think he came out Friday, and he was hoping that
07:50the other partner was going to come out.
07:53And it was just last night that we got a call out that he's missing.
07:58So Captain and some of the members, and we also have two members across there that live
08:03in Tobago.
08:04So they're across there, they're doing some searches with the police, the army, and fire
08:11services.
08:12If you can, did Captain Rambrath speak to you today, what kind of terrain we're looking
08:17at in that particular area of Tobago?
08:19Well, I am very familiar with that area, plenty, in Tobago we call it ravines, but in Tobago
08:28they call it gullies, and very mountainous.
08:32So and then again, the weather is a little rainy these days.
08:37So it is a tough little forest area.
08:41What's your approximate, did the hunter that came out explain to you all, in terms of the
08:47time it would have taken him to come out of the forest, and give an approximate location
08:53of his colleague?
08:54No, well, I think the colleague is there with them, all right, and the last video that I
08:59got, what was happening up there, is that they were moving around, calling him out.
09:04But again, I hope that they have enough manpower, because it's a big area.
09:11So again, I'm waiting to get more information.
09:15And that search has been conducted only in the day, or also at night?
09:20Well, it started today.
09:23So I don't know what would happen if it will continue tonight.
09:27Like I said, I'll have to make contact with, well, where that area is also, there's a,
09:32the signal, phone signal is very poor.
09:35So that will, we would have to wait until they come out, and we get information to know
09:40what they're going to do.
09:42But searching at night is not a problem for us.
09:44Right.
09:45I mean, considering, of course, you talk about the terrain, and it being, you know, all these
09:50gullies and so on, and you're footing in the dark, of course, you still have lights, but
09:56still, if you're not familiar with the terrain.
09:58If you're not familiar.
09:59But again, a lot of the soldiers, they also traverse that area in training also, you know.
10:06But it's something that we are accustomed with, in the sense of going into a new terrain,
10:11you just do, go with your eyes closed, because you have to expect the unexpected, you know.
10:18Most definitely.
10:19Yeah.
10:20So we'll talk a little more about some of the missing persons a little later on.
10:22All right.
10:23But we want to go to our headlines now.
10:41So those are our headlines.
11:10And we saw the last headline there, I was prepared to die, Sydney.
11:16We're seeing this rising home invasions, people being monitored and so on, across the board
11:24in various communities.
11:26And I'm sure you all would also have been in some way asked by communities to kind of
11:31assist in, you know, in terms of information or anything that comes across that might be
11:36strange, even.
11:37The thing about this is that we would work when the police would ask us to, you know.
11:47But you have to remember, Trinidad is quite small.
11:50And I mean, we would assist people in our own communities.
11:56I mean, I'm from Ligo Martin, and we have members all around.
12:01But we have to be careful now because in dealing with the type of crime, you know, we have
12:08to be careful in what information that we give out, you know.
12:13But it's a cautious, very, very cautious time in dealing with what is happening, you know.
12:22Because, but again, I mean, with the kidnapping, even with the murders, you know, you have
12:28to be careful because you could get a backlash from it also, you know.
12:33So it's something that we have to be very, very cautious in our investigations.
12:38Most definitely.
12:39Yeah.
12:40So we want to take a look at a video of actual killing that took place a little, a couple
12:46hours ago along the old St. Joseph Road, where a man was shot and killed.
12:53He's yet to be identified.
12:54He was of African descent.
12:55He was wearing black jeans, black sneakers, and a white vest, I believe.
13:00And police are asking anyone with information about this particular shooting to get in contact
13:06with the Mover Police Station or Homicide Division.
13:11Any of the numbers that they have online at the TTPS website, you can contact them with
13:16information.
13:17And of course, one of the most, you know, you know, videos that I've been making around
13:23on social media was the shooting of the suspended officer on Saturday night.
13:34Sheldon Peterson, CEMN coming out of the vehicle, pushed him initially.
13:41He was able to apparently draw his license firearm, not from this angle, but the other
13:47video would have seen he draw it.
13:49And two of the students ran off.
13:51But the third one ran into the business place, shot him, ran out, shot him, grabbed his license
13:59firearm, and then escaped.
14:02And this is the second such incident to have happened within the last couple of weeks.
14:07I do believe there was a similar incident involving another police officer who was actually
14:12working security for a grocery in the east.
14:16I can't recall it.
14:17I think it was in Aranguiz, the Aranguiz location.
14:20And he was also shot and killed as well.
14:23So, you know, business people have to be a little bit vigilant, of course.
14:27You know, and then there's, you know, when you're seeing these hours and, you know, people
14:33are looking and what strange cars or vehicles are lurking in an area.
14:38And, you know, sometimes the officer probably was just engaging a conversation to his back
14:43and he was momentarily turned.
14:45And then, of course, in that blink of an eye, they saw the opportunity to strike.
14:50And unfortunately, Mr. Peterson lost his life.
14:54We're going to take a short break and we'll be back.
14:56Stay with us.
14:57Stay with us.
15:10Nothing like the sense of clean clothes freshly dried in the sun and the breeze.
15:14You know, a long time in Tobago, we use the sun for everything.
15:17Preserving fruits, drying seeds, bleaching clothes white, and don't talk about the dry fish.
15:22Granny, you're not an OG planet warrior, you know.
15:25The sun's energy is captured and stored into batteries to power so many things like
15:29torches, chargers, security lights, and so much more.
15:33And don't forget the solar heating.
15:35My good looks can't survive any cooler.
15:37Solar power to the people.

17:36Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
17:37I'm your host, Mark Bessant.
17:38Of course, joined today by Mr. Glenn Robinson
17:41from the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
17:43Captain Valence Rambarat is actually in Tobago
17:46assisting in our rescue at this time.
17:49And we know that for a very small country like ours,
17:53there's so many, many, many missing people, missing persons.
17:58And I mean, I know you have a couple to share with us
18:02that's quite recent.
18:05Yeah, so I'm just updating from last Monday to today.
18:13We have Ruben Edmund, 81-year-old, who he went missing from on the 18th.
18:21But this morning, he got back.
18:24He walked back home.
18:26He's from in Santa Cruz, Lacuna.
18:32We have Celine Lessie, age 16.
18:36She's missing up to now on our files.
18:42She's from Sandy Grande, Oja Road.
18:48And then Sita Prasad, 15.
18:51She went missing on the 19th.
18:53And she's from Superior, Coral Road.
18:57Still missing.
19:02We have here Sean Lee Martinez, 16 years old.
19:06He went missing from the 17th.
19:08He's from Tunapuna.
19:11Again, still not recovered.
19:17And of course, Mr. Ram Narain.
19:20He's in Kenape now.
19:22He's still missing.
19:25Let's start from the top there.
19:27I'm seeing some pretty young faces in that list.
19:30Yeah.
19:31And in terms of Celine Lessie, if you can,
19:36what are the circumstances surrounding her disappearance?
19:39And what have you all been able to ascertain so far?
19:42Well, one of our members who is handling that case,
19:46that is Sunil.
19:49He's up in Grande.
19:50I did not speak with him as yet.
19:53But he's handling that case.
19:56A lot of these cases, especially with the young ladies,
19:59could be little problems at home
20:02or advice from their friends.
20:06So I don't want to say too much.
20:09Yes.
20:11But we try our best.
20:14We speak with the family and get inside the problem.
20:19Because it's not always one thing
20:22that the females would go out with males.
20:27So that is with Celine.
20:31You would think that if somebody sees these people somewhere
20:36and a responsible adult,
20:38they will have the courtesy to go to the nearest police station
20:41or contact the nearest police station
20:43or even contact you guys.
20:45Yes.
20:46It happens.
20:47All right.
20:48But again, in the investigation,
20:52you would know exactly what direction to follow
20:58in the sense of if it's a problem at home
21:02or a neighbour or a boyfriend.
21:06But the first thing we tend to say is a boyfriend.
21:10But again, it's not that.
21:12We certainly don't want to be presumptuous in any case.
21:15Right.
21:16But we do have a caller, a first caller on the line.
21:19Caller Good Evening.
21:21Hello.
21:22Good evening.
21:23Good evening, sir.
21:24Good evening.
21:25Okay.
21:26I just see there's not much police on duty.
21:29I'm assured about that.
21:30So I'm going to make a comment.
21:33Sure.
21:34Go ahead.
21:35Yeah.
21:36With reference to the flashing blue lights
21:39that we have on the unmarked police vehicles.
21:42I just wanted to suggest that before that
21:44be that if they remove the flashing blue lights
21:47on unmarked police vehicles,
21:48because that's making it marked now
21:50everybody knows flashing blue lights is police.
21:52So I thought apart from removing the tactical gear
21:55they say from the police,
21:56if they remove the blue lights on them,
21:58unmarked vehicles,
21:59it would make it totally unmarked.
22:01And the bandits can't copy that.
22:03Yes.
22:04Well, you do make a valid point.
22:07And I suppose over the next 24 hours
22:10when we have a police officer,
22:12maybe tomorrow we can address that.
22:15But your point is taken, caller.
22:17Your point is taken.
22:19Yeah.
22:20That's how it's done in North America.
22:22The vehicles don't have the lights flashing.
22:25But when the lights come on,
22:27you have no one time to pull aside.
22:29Yeah.
22:30So...
22:31He's suggesting they don't have them
22:33at all, the unmarked vehicles.
22:35But I mean,
22:36sometimes the sirens can be put on the dashboard
22:39and removed.
22:41As a case,
22:42maybe if you're going in pursuit of a person
22:44who just committed a criminal act
22:46or persons.
22:48If you're playing unmarked vehicle,
22:51you have the siren,
22:52you can put it on the dashboard,
22:54you can remove it
22:55so that people wouldn't always know.
22:57Well, again,
22:58in North America,
22:59on the highways,
23:00they have a lot of unmarked vehicles.
23:02But the siren is built in and the lights.
23:05Okay?
23:06But again,
23:07you know,
23:08the discipline we have down here,
23:10I mean,
23:11going on the Savannah this afternoon,
23:13the ambulance blaring siren
23:15and nobody would move.
23:16Nobody would move in.
23:17Yeah.
23:18It's really sad
23:19because I mean,
23:20it could be a family member
23:21that they don't know about
23:22or a relative of some sort
23:23or a friend.
23:24Right.
23:25So I mean,
23:26we want to reach people,
23:27you know,
23:28when you see the ambulance
23:29on the nation roadways
23:30to give way
23:31because that's the,
23:32that is supposed to be done.
23:33And I do think
23:34you can be charged
23:35if you are obstructing an ambulance
23:37and it's,
23:38and it's,
23:39it's forced to go to the hospital.
23:41As the case may be.
23:42We were talking about missing persons
23:45before the call.
23:47So,
23:48yeah,
23:49so we,
23:50we also have Sean Lee Martinez
23:52or he's in Tunapuna.
23:53He's 16 years old.
23:54Right.
23:55You know,
23:56so again,
23:57the search is on again
23:59and nothing,
24:01nothing as yet.
24:02I mean,
24:03because I,
24:04I made some calls
24:05pertaining to,
24:06to,
24:07to update.
24:08Right.
24:09You know,
24:10and again.
24:11And what about Ms.
24:12Sita Prasad?
24:13I,
24:14I know you said that.
24:15Sita Prasad is,
24:16is in,
24:17in Superior.
24:18Right.
24:19Well,
24:20she's 15 years old
24:21and she went missing
24:22from the 19th.
24:23So again,
24:24nothing.
24:25So,
24:26did she leave home
24:27or did she,
24:28but she went to school
24:29and never returned?
24:30What was the particular?
24:31I,
24:32I,
24:33I'm not too sure.
24:34I think she,
24:35she left home.
24:36Okay.
24:37But again,
24:38they,
24:39they use the school also
24:40many times again
24:41to get away,
24:42to get out of the house.
24:43Right.
24:44You know,
24:45and then,
24:46then they go missing.
24:47Okay.
24:48You know.
24:49So,
24:50yeah,
24:51my producer just told me
24:52it was on Saturday
24:53she went missing,
24:54of course.
24:55So,
24:56she probably,
24:57as you said,
24:58she left home.
24:59Yes.
25:00I didn't really see the date.
25:01I didn't look at the date properly.
25:02Right.
25:03But no,
25:04but not only that,
25:05yeah,
25:06but,
25:07yes,
25:08today's,
25:09right.
25:10So,
25:11this is the thing we,
25:12is ongoing searches
25:13right now
25:14you know,
25:15because we normally
25:16would,
25:17would,
25:18you know,
25:19get contact numbers
25:20and,
25:21and,
25:22and ask questions,
25:23you know,
25:24so.
25:25Well,
25:26I mean,

25:36at XYZ
25:37for the last two,

37:47Welcome back
37:48to Beyond the Tape.
37:49We were talking
37:50about missing persons
37:51and just before
37:52I just wanted to get
37:53a sense of
37:54you know
37:55the older cases
37:56the cold cases
37:57that you all have
37:58how are you all
37:59able to jumpstart
38:00those sometimes
38:01just like
38:02the cold cases
38:03for homicides
38:04you have a lot
38:05of people
38:06that have been
38:07missing
38:08many years
38:09and if you can
38:10anything that
38:11jumps out at you
38:12in particular
38:13a particular case
38:14over the last
38:15two to three years
38:16that
38:17I
38:18I joined
38:19the team
38:20in
38:2120
38:2222
38:23February
38:24and since I've been
38:25on the case
38:26on the team
38:27it's always
38:28new
38:29new cases
38:30that we are on
38:31most of the time
38:32the police
38:33would
38:34they would keep
38:35records
38:36and they would
38:37whatever information
38:38come in
38:39they would let us know
38:40and then we could
38:41go and search
38:42and maybe
38:43have an area
38:44to check
38:45we would go
38:46and check
38:47we have been
38:48so busy
38:49every week
38:50with new cases
38:51coming in
38:52so
38:53no
38:54I am
38:55old cases
38:56no
38:57by accident
38:58you find
38:59like
39:00a hunter
39:01would find
39:02a skeleton
39:03remains of someone
39:04you know
39:05in fact
39:06it happened
39:07with
39:08we were looking
39:09for a guy
39:10in south
39:11and
39:12we were searching
39:13and
39:14we couldn't find him
39:15but he had
39:16a skeleton
39:17and
39:18we found
39:19his
39:20his body
39:21and most of the time
39:22we will identify
39:23the skeleton
39:24remains
39:25by the clothes
39:26right
39:27so of course
39:28you still have to
39:29verify that
39:30by doing DNA
39:31especially when
39:32it's a long period
39:33of time
39:34that has elapsed
39:35so certainly
39:36I know
39:37you all
39:38will cut out
39:39for you all
39:40and of course

42:39at the Piti Valley area where we actually got more footage where there was a car chase here
42:46where a car flipped. Police was in hot pursuit and we're seeing some of the suspects actually
42:53quickly got out of the car and jumped the wall and police is in hot pursuit. I believe it had
42:58to do with something with a stolen vehicle. I know we were talking about stolen vehicles earlier on
43:04and apparently the bandits in this case lost control of the vehicle and they tried to flee
43:12the scene. I imagine they might have been held at some juncture by the police. I think it was one
43:18one guy right was in the car. Yeah I saw one guy there. Yeah so it's likely so you know the police
43:26going on all angles there.
43:31Right so certainly that that was it was quick police work and we have to you know officers
43:37from the western division there we have to commend you on your quick work. It was the
43:43vehicle here that apparently overturned and the suspect was later held apparently. So really good
43:49work there by the police. We also want to this this issue of tactical uniforms and so on
43:58I've come into the fore again and the eastern division Mayaro police this morning in an exercise
44:06at a house in Mayaro Guayaguayari apparently after executing a siege war and they found
44:14tactical police uniforms, camouflage. They also found the badge belonging to a police constable
44:20they found revolvers and so on really showing that these people you know these bandits are
44:29using paraphernalia and stuff that even impersonating officers because this particular
44:35officer apparently was has been on continuous sick leave. I do believe we have a call on the line.
44:41Good evening.
44:43I'm blessing good evening to Mark and Mr. Robinson. I want to be very serious.
44:53We have been watching over the past few years the amount of things that such
45:02have been doing. On your last occasion you had parents on the ship and they were talking about
45:10an award. I want to go beyond this award conversation. What children in Korea apply
45:20they should be supplied with about five or ten adequate vehicles and necessary tools to go
45:29this search and rescue because giving me an award makes no sense to me because they are doing work
45:37alongside the police. So let us be very serious and give them what is required to do more and more
45:45of what they are doing. A few years ago a particular gentleman in North Korea called me
45:52said the powers I think I have I don't have. The powers I don't think I have I have.
46:00Mark last night called on students in the actual college. I want to give you the solution to the
46:06problem. One, I think a head of state should give an executive order. And out of that executive order
46:20both parties that are ruling in this country right now
46:26we don't need one to support. What we need is each side coming up with about five or ten lawyers
46:36past prison officers, past police, and let them sit down, see them work, let them sit down and discuss these problems that we are dealing with presently.
46:54Unless that is done we don't call out the problem and don't give us a solution.
46:59All right caller I really appreciate your call and of course your sentiments and we're going to take a short break and when we get back we'll get that Mr. Robinson. Stay with us.

49:32Welcome back to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host Mark Bess and of course joined today by Mr Glenn
49:36Robinson of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team and before the break we did have a call
49:42and I will let Mr Robinson respond to that caller's suggestions or concerns.
49:47Yeah well he was you know recommending that it'll be nice for us to get some vehicles which I think
49:53would be very good because I mean in having well he was saying between five and ten vehicles but
50:02I think with four vehicles would be good enough because it's tough on us. I mean we are all
50:10volunteers and you know we use our own vehicles, buy our own gas and you know certain people would
50:18contribute and assist us but yeah that'll be that'll be nice for us to get four vehicles
50:26and as it is right now with the roads alone you know it's maintaining the vehicles
50:33and going on searches you know but we're getting there. I think we'll take a little time again
50:39before things start to happen pertaining to getting things like that to help us out as a team
50:48you know but the caller who we call would at least put in a good word for us.
50:55Well the caller also did raise you know this has been an ongoing discussion of course when
51:01Captain Rambarat was here a couple weeks ago asking for an award and you know Mr Rambarat
51:06very humbly said you know we've just started not too long yeah and you know people who are given
51:12awards in a particular area it's for longevity and for service but all over a period of time
51:20you know just you know a short period of time in some cases which I mean I agree I don't know
51:25what's your stance of course but again I think Trinidad and Tobago knows the team
51:33and again it started from 2021 with Andrew Rambarat you know so it's
51:43we have been very popular because I mean we have been covering the country
51:51and being successful also. Just before we leave I just want you to kind of give people
51:57if they need to get in contact with the hunters search and rescue team the various contact
52:04information for them to somebody might be missing out there you might need assistance
52:09and these guys are here. Well right now because of CAP in Tobago we right now our numbers will be
52:18799 1453 and plus well until CAP comes on because I think there are some problems with
52:28with the phone in Tobago all right so this this number 799 1453 we'll be able to to contact us
52:37and you know but then again in our own areas a lot of a lot of people know us personally
52:45you know so anytime there's a problem like in my area they would call we have I have two other
52:50members on on my side and you know so it's easy to get in contact with. So it's a community-based
52:59of course. Well right because we have members right through the country
53:08you know so and and again we are well known. Right but certainly Mr Robinson I really want
53:16to thank you for taking the time to come onto the program. I know it's a very difficult job
53:21you guys have to do at times when you have to look for people going to terrains going to forests and
53:28climb mountains or cross over the waterfalls or the rivers etc so definitely you know we want to
53:34thank you for your continued service service sorry because we run tonight at 11. Stay tuned
53:41tomorrow again at 11 o'clock. The TV60s is up next. Stay with us. See you then. Until tomorrow.
