03:34Welcome Trinidad and Tobago, and of course our viewers across the world.
03:45I'm Mark Besant, and this is Beyond the Tape.
03:48And of course I know this weekend, many of you were obviously in the sister isle of Tobago, enjoying the carnival celebrations,
03:56which we are happy to report was incident-free according to the police.
04:01You know, looking here at some of the footage from Tuve celebrations that took place over the weekend,
04:07you know, a lot of the revelers obviously surrounded by protection there by the police and so on.
04:14Incidentally, of course, there was a very unfortunate incident that occurred yesterday morning, I do believe,
04:23an attempted or alleged arson attack on a trailer truck, believed to have been part of the carnival celebrations.
04:31I don't know too much about what might have caused the fire and what might have triggered it,
04:37or the incidents or the circumstances surrounding it, but obviously it's been investigated by the police in the sister isle of Tobago.
04:47And of course, another story, of course, the last couple of hours is that there have been gridlock traffic coming out of Port of Spain,
04:55apparently a roadblock, a police roadblock, heading east near the El Secor area.
05:02And we got a number of calls from motorists who were heading out of Port of Spain, being stuck in traffic for more than two to three hours.
05:12And, of course, today we are speaking with Captain Valance Rambarat from the Hunter's Sitch and Rescue Team, I want to welcome you.
05:20And you did see that traffic coming in, didn't you?
05:22Yeah, good evening to your viewership on TV6 and beyond the TV.
05:28Yeah, we were heading west to the station and there was gridlock traffic backing up all into Port of Spain.
05:34And I imagine, I mean, you know, it's never a very, you know, having worked for eight hours and now having to,
05:41you're coming out of the capital city and then you're confronted with this gridlock traffic, of course.
05:45Everybody have their own opinion about doing exercises or road exercises at a particular time.
05:51Maybe the police was acting on intelligence of some sort that led to that operation being where it was supposed to be.
05:59Obviously, we'll try to find out more about that, you know, if not this afternoon, by the morning, to find out what may have triggered that.
06:06So, I know you were in Tobago for quite a while, a couple of days last week, so you weren't able to join us.
06:14And I know you were doing some searches for a gentleman who later popped up.
06:19Yeah, 2 a.m. in the morning, 2 a.m. in the morning, but I want to thank Glen Robinson for filling in for me.
06:26But we were, we received a call from the Roxborough Police Station at 11 p.m. on Sunday night and we literally flew to Tobago by boat.
06:36Because we were there in Pembroke for 10.30 a.m. to join the police, the Defence Force and the Fire Service
06:43in what would have been an arduous seven-hour search for Dwayne O.
06:48And I think we did put our best foot forward. He did say afterwards he heard us, but his feet was badly damaged and couldn't walk fast.
06:58He couldn't even shout out to us. And thank God he made his way home.
07:04And that terrain there, of course, because I remember Mr. Robinson telling us that, of course, there's no cell phone reception.
07:11So when you go deep into that forest area and, of course, the terrain and so on, you were only reliant upon your radios, correct?
07:18We only had radios. We were unable to use the internet to really do some map work.
07:26But we had good persons from the village who were able to take us through.
07:30And I think we must commend the Fire Service, the Defence Force, the police, again, in tactical.
07:38I know that's a big thing. But, I mean, when they go there, they need to use different police way.
07:44But all in all, we did put our best foot forward. I think the terrain was mountainous.
07:53You had to put your best skills forward to navigate the terrain.
07:58And the rivers there are rocky rivers with huge boulders, small boulders.
08:03It's not our mud type rivers like South Trinidad or so.
08:08So you had to put your best foot forward.
08:11But I think we were able to cover something like 68 miles during the search.
08:17We were making a lot of noise so that Mr. Duane Owe in the morning said,
08:22I heard you all, but I couldn't respond because I was weak. I was hungry.
08:27His feet were totally white. He had discarded his boots.
08:33But it was a hunting incident. A mistake, I would call it.
08:38The other hunter had asked him to remain in a place and it turned out to be one looking for the other
08:47and the other each looking for each other. It was unfortunate.
08:53But he came out alive. He went for his medical checkup.
08:58And I think apart from sore feet and having to rehydrate, Duane Owe was in good spirits.
09:05Well, I'm looking at some of the footage. I'm seeing the police and so on with you guys there.
09:09That was approximately 72 hours he was missing.
09:13He was missing for three nights, four days, three nights.
09:16So he had it tough in the forest there. He ate nothing at all.
09:19There was nothing on the forest floor. We saw like fruits or nuts or anything for him to eat.
09:25So he drank the river water and survived for during that period of time.
09:31But I must say the response from these three or four villagers to go in with us was amazing.
09:39And I'm so happy that he heard us and was able to turn around and follow us.
09:46What was it like for him? Were you able to talk to him to find out what was it like having to spend
09:50almost four days in this forested area, no food? How did he get injured? How was his feet injured?
09:58By being in the boots, being in our soaking wet boots.
10:02It will cause your feet to get white under it and then that will cause blisters.
10:08So you have to discard the boots and walk.
10:11And that slowed him down on his return after he heard us.
10:15But it's a difficult thing to go for, to be missing that long.
10:21Because the temperature drops in these mountains maybe to 16, 17 degrees Celsius.
10:29And you have no light. You don't have a lighter to catch a fire.
10:34And you just have to sit and bear the cold out for the entire night.
10:37And then when the day gets up, you don't have anything to give you energy to walk for long.
10:43So he had to be resting, walking and resting, walking and resting.
10:47But he heard us and he knew the direction we were calling from.
10:51And he followed that and reached there by the morning.
10:55The other thing is that we drove with the Defence Force vehicles
11:00something like about three miles on Earthen Road.
11:04He didn't have that coming out. He had to walk all those three miles.
11:08We drove in three miles.
11:10So when you look at the time he came out, it was estimated that if he had heard us
11:17and was taking his time walking out, he would have arrived at 2 a.m. in the morning.
11:22We're certainly happy that Mr. Duane over there seen on your screen has been found alive,
11:27got out of the forest.
11:29And of course the brave efforts of the Police Service, the Defence Force
11:32as well as the Hunters, Search and Rescue Team.
11:35We certainly want to thank you guys for assisting in the search.
11:39And we are glad that it ended in a very happy manner.
11:43We're going to take a look now at our headlines.
11:52♪ MUSIC ♪
12:23Those are some of the headlines making the Express newspaper in the last 24 hours.
12:29And, you know, the homicide rate continues to be of concern to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, of course.
12:37And one life too many, of course.
12:39You would agree with me, Captain Rambarat, is too much.
12:43And it was unfortunate that this morning a young lady lost her life
12:49This morning a young lady lost her life in Kokie Village.
12:55Apparently her name is Khadijah Hackett.
12:58She went to a bar at the corner of Naperi-Mamerawa Road and Dallas Avenue.
13:05And she was leaving there shortly around 2 a.m. walking towards a vehicle
13:10when people reportedly heard gunshots.
13:15Now what was interesting about this case is that I contacted a senior in the homicide division.
13:21Now, initially reading the report, it said that she was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital.
13:28And her vehicle, of course, probably somebody was assisting.
13:31But that did not seem to be the case.
13:34It's very bizarre.
13:36What police have been telling me is that after she was shot,
13:40they believe a person or persons who might have been responsible for her shooting
13:46took her to the San Fernando General Hospital in her vehicle and then they escaped.
13:53The police later found her vehicle in the Princess Tongue area a little later this morning,
14:00which is quite questionable, of course, and they're still trying to ascertain a motive for her murder.
14:06And that brings the murder count up, unfortunately, to 524 for the year.
14:12And I know a lot of citizens feel very unsafe out there.
14:16But we certainly want to encourage everybody to stay vigilant and alert.
14:22And as we talk about safety, we want to transition, of course, to the Tobago Carnival that took place over the weekend.
14:32You know, a lot of thousands of revelers.
14:34I believe it was 37,500 visitors in terms of people coming from Trinidad and Tobago and from other areas.
14:43Apparently, that is what the number that was quoted by a police officer.
14:47They believe that would have come to enjoy the festivities on the island.
14:53I'm happy to report to the police that it was incident-free up to this incident that occurred sometime yesterday morning.
15:03There was a fight, apparently, in the Crown Point area, captured here by someone on their cell phone.
15:14A number of men getting into a fight outside of a popular bar of some sort in the Crown Point area.
15:22And a number of men were involved in this brawl here you see before you.
15:28At least eight to ten persons involved here, exchanging blows, of course.
15:34And I imagine it will be forming part of a police investigation going forward.
15:41And I'm stating that some of those individuals who are in that video are obviously going to be held for questioning of some sort.
15:51Because you're seeing one or two people attacking.
15:54There are several people attacking one or two men at one given point.
15:59And then you have these two men here fighting here at the end of the video with others trying to also get involved.
16:08And instead of intervening, of course, they continue to rain blows down on one of the other men there.
16:15So if you have any information, of course, please contact the Tobago Police with any information that might be able to assist them in identifying some of the persons in this video.
16:28So, moving on to another incident in Penal that was captured over the last couple of nights involving a bar.
16:40You'd see that there's a vehicle that pulls up.
16:44A number of occupants come out of the vehicle, of course, hooded and so on, masked, with firearms in hand.
16:51And they run into what is a bar.
16:54And you will later see the inside of that bar while the getaway driver is parked outside.
17:01There's a gentleman being escorted in by another armed assailant into that bar here now.
17:08I'm almost stating that the vehicle probably is bearing false number plates.
17:14And I'm sure the police will be able to ascertain such as well.
17:18You see one of the assailants here coming back out.
17:21And I don't know what he...
17:24So then we are inside of the bar establishment here now.
17:28You see some of the victims inside the bar with the assailants who apparently are making some of these people empty their pockets.
17:38There's another gentleman walking in with his hands in the air.
17:43While they are being asked, obviously, to empty their pockets of valuables of some sort.
17:48You see him being ushered further up into the bar there by at least three hooded assailants.
17:54And, of course, we're encouraging anybody with information about this particular robbery to contact the nearest police station or even the penal police station
18:04with any information that can help them to assist in solving this crime here where we are seeing a number of assailants entering these business places, robbing patrons and so on.
18:19It's a very similar incident when you think about home invasions that are also happening concurrently with these types of robberies.
18:27We're going to take a short break and we'll be back. Stay with us.

21:22Welcome back to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host Mark Bassan.
21:24Of course joined today by Captain Valens Rambarat from the Hunter, Sage and Rescue team.
21:29And we obviously have a keen interest in a number of people that are missing of course.
21:35And I know that for this month in October, there are at least five people that are still unaccounted for.
21:42And I know at the top of that list, not to in any way treat the rest any more significantly or less significantly rather.
21:50Is Suvesh Ramnarain.
21:53Yeah and Suvesh Ramnarain is of major concern to us as well.
21:57But the number just changed a short while ago.
22:01So for October 2024, we've had 40 missing persons.
22:06The latest is a 16 year old girl Ruth Melville from Roxborough in Tobago.
22:11And the persons unaccounted for in October now stands at seven.
22:19So let me go through the persons who we still have not been able to account for.
22:25That is Suvesh Ramnarain.
22:27And I want to say this.
22:29We've been getting hundreds of course messages on our various social media platforms about Suvesh Ramnarain.
22:38Unfortunately there's a cloak of confidentiality that blankets this entire case.
22:45And we fall under that blanket as well.
22:49As you know we work with the anti kidnapping unit.
22:52And we fall under that blanket of confidentiality.
22:56So I'm unable to share any information with respect to Suvesh Ramnarain.
23:01Except to say that today is 16 days since he has been missing.
23:07And there must be a concern for his safety and security at this point in time.
23:15I understand what the nation is feeling.
23:18But we have to be hopeful that the police gets the job done.
23:23And that we are able to see Suvesh soon.
23:2616 days is a lot of days for kidnapping, for ransom case.
23:31Yes definitely.
23:32And we know that we have been in contact with the police on a very consistent basis about this particular matter.
23:38And they have said to us that they are working assiduously to try to bring this case to a close.
23:44In terms of getting Mr Ramnarain back with his family.
23:48I know messages were also sent to me that the family is praying for his safe return.
23:53And they are very optimistic and hopeful.
23:56And we want to share that optimism and that hopefulness with you.
24:00And by extension Trinidad and Tobago.
24:02And hope that Mr Ramnarain is brought back safely to you guys.
24:07So we also have Sita Prasad who is missing from Kura Road in Siparia.
24:13We are working hard on that case.
24:16And that is Kesaraj Tunga area.
24:19And I know he is working hard on that case.
24:22We have Celine Lelesi who has been missing since the 18th of October from the Sandy Grande district.
24:30And our people there, Sunil Kiray and they are in contact with the family and working hard.
24:35In fact they are in contact with Celine.
24:37It is just to get her to come back home.
24:39But her case is tied up with the Children's Authority and so forth.
24:43But she will eventually get back home.
24:46We have Ashley Jobe.
24:47Ashley Jobe, this is a case of a missing fisherman from Tobago.
24:52And he was last seen fishing about nine miles east of Roxborough.
25:01And nobody has been able to say what happened to Ashley Jobe thus far.
25:07But what we have been able to do is to speak to the Coast Guard.
25:10We have contacted the Air Guard.
25:12We have passed on all the information to them.
25:15And hopefully they have been doing their work in terms of making the area sweeps and checking the boundaries.
25:22What the Tobago fisherman has said to us is that there is the jet stream around the island.
25:29It depends on if the boat is up or turned over.
25:34If it is turned over he will come back to the island.
25:37But if it is standing on how it normally would sit.
25:40It will drift.
25:41It will drift and probably head to Barbados or Grenada.
25:44So we are asking all marine craft to be on the lookout for Ashley Jobe in his pirogue.
25:51And Z2 is the name of the pirogue.
25:53And he went fishing alone.
25:55I know that on social media there is actually a device where it shows his longitudinal latitude.
26:02Yes, so we worked it out to be nine kilometers east of Roxborough.
26:06So the coordinates were sent by a fisherman who was fishing next to Ashley Jobe.
26:13So they know his last location when somebody saw him.
26:18And nine kilometers east of Roxborough is not far off the bay where you can go as far as the oil rigs and that type of thing.
26:25So we are very hopeful that he is drifting out there.
26:29He is surviving and that he will be picked up by either a passing marine craft or the coast guard or the air guard can spot him from the aerial sweeps.
26:41Destiny Muraldo is from Tanapuna.
26:44She is missing.
26:46Both Mr. Suknanan and I were out in the Caribbean on Saturday doing some searches for her.
26:55And she is a repeat missing person.
27:01But this one, Sean Lee Martinez, is of concern to us.
27:06His stepfather, or adopted father, Mark, you remember Jensen Fox?
27:11Are you that young?
27:14I don't know if I recall the name.
27:16He was a minister in the Naira regime.
27:18I don't know if Jack is familiar with that name.
27:20Unfortunately, I'm not.
27:22Back in the 1980s.
27:26That would be 81 to 86 years.
27:29So it's his adopted son, Sean Lee Martinez.
27:33He has some issues and it's also tied up with the Children's Authority.
27:37And we have been Jensen Fox on that case.
27:41In fact, as soon as we get off here, because I am in Port of Spain,
27:45I will make contact with Jensen Fox to see if we can locate Sean Lee Martinez.
27:51So those are the outstanding persons we've had for October 6th.
28:00And the new girl that came on would make it 7th.
28:03But we had an interesting case where we spoke on this program.
28:07Remember Anthony Philip left Guapo and found him in Vistabela.
28:12Well, we had Margaret Alexander.
28:15Margaret Alexander is from Henry Street in Port of Spain.
28:19She suffered from Alzheimer's, 74 years old.
28:23She was reported missing to us.
28:26And the next day in the afternoon, just a bit about 5 p.m.,
28:32our members, we have the whole Kirai family who are members of our team,
28:36they were able to locate her on the Toco Mean Road.
28:42And I think we have some footage there with how they found Margaret Alexander.
28:50And that goes to show the distance.
28:56Remember with Anthony Philip it was a long distance.
28:59He was found away. Alzheimer's.
29:02And in this case it was on Port of Spain to the Toco Mean Road.
29:06So you received the information and you went to the area and picked her up?
29:09And picked her up, yeah.
29:10That's outside the Sangre Gandhi Police Station there?
29:12Yeah, we were able to take her there and her relatives picked her up at the Sangre Gandhi Police Station.
29:17But just a word of, we want to just keep spreading this word about the elderly
29:22and look at the aging diseases, Alzheimer's, dementia,
29:29and we know it's difficult to keep an eye on them 24-7.
29:34But you know, I think much more could be done to ensure that they are secured.
29:40And a simple thing we recommend is that there are cheap tags selling out there
29:45so that you could synchronize it with your phone and it works as a GPS system.
29:53It's relatively cheap, maybe $50 to $75 for a tag.
29:58And you can place it in their purse or their pockets.
30:03I know that technology is synonymous with Apple.
30:06Yes.
30:07So I know what you're talking about.
30:09We highly recommend that in cases like these, you know, you give them the tag to keep
30:14so they could be easily located.
30:17Because with Alzheimer's, Mark, you lose your sense of direction.
30:22Alright? And you're always trying to get back home.
30:25Yeah.
30:26Well, we're certainly happy that she has been reunited with her family.
30:30And of course, we'll continue the discussion more.
30:33But we're going to take a break and we'll be back. Stay with us.

33:33I have a recommendation that you all have earphones.
33:38I don't know if you all have any earphones.

33:46The group should have earphones.
33:48When you blow your earphones, you'll respond accordingly.
33:51You'll have an idea what direction they are in.
33:54What difficulty they are in with the earphones.
33:57So, good work, Hunter, Search and Rescue.
34:00Bless you all.
34:02Much appreciated, caller.
34:04But we do have earphones.
34:08We do have quite a bit of equipment.
34:10So, when we got to Tobago, we had our portable stretcher.
34:14Much to the surprise of the fire services, because they have these heavy skids.
34:18And we were able to leave the skid behind and use the portable stretcher to take with us in the search for drain oil.
34:25But, yeah, we used the earphones.
34:28And most likely, that is what we all would have heard and would have been able to turn back and follow the sound of the horn.
34:36I think what the caller was also suggesting, not by extension, not just your team,
34:41but hunters in general should have an earphone in case of being lost or something,
34:47that they can press it, they can squeeze it, and somebody by proximity can hear them.
34:54If they are lost, they can shout or call out and that earphone travels a longer distance.
34:58Thanks, caller, for that recommendation.
35:00We pass it on to all the hunting groups.
35:02And we also want to recommend to hunters the flares as well.
35:07And hikers, for instance, they walk with flares.
35:11That works well in the night.
35:13And we have used flares on our end to attract lost persons to come to us.
35:21It happened on the Northern Range and we were able to ignite the flare and the person was able to spot it and walk towards us.
35:28So flares, earphones, they work well when persons are lost.
35:32I'm glad you brought up hikers because there are a number of nature seekers and so on.
35:37They go on a lot of hikes in the Northern Range, in Central and so on.
35:41What would be some of your suggestions to hikers and some of the necessary tools they also need to walk with?
35:48Well, they need to, first of all, let somebody know that they are going.
35:56So, for instance, we've had a couple of situations where hiking groups, they've informed us of where they're going,
36:04what's the duration of the hike, they send the start location.
36:08That works well for us.
36:10The other thing, keep your phones on you fully charged.
36:15And save some battery power if you get into difficulty.
36:20Now, in the Northern Range, it's very simple.
36:23If you ascend a peak or a ridge, you will be able to get some bit of reception.
36:30So do not stay in the valley.
36:32If you lost reception, try and mount a hill and try and get reception from there and send out a location.
36:40Make sure that you have things on you that snacks, energy snacks, so that you can last one night and a day with you.
36:50Enough water to last one night and a day.
36:54An additional night and day, not what you're consuming during the hike.
36:59And always wear proper footwear.
37:03But we also ask to pay attention to your environment.
37:07Because you must be able to know which log you cross going up.
37:11What was in the cliff that you just climbed.
37:15And pay attention to the trees and the roots and the leaf fall.
37:19And that will give you a great sense of direction.
37:22And most importantly, if you feel you don't want to get lost, pinch a leaf, drop it on the ground.
37:29Ever so often.
37:30Now, under a leaf is white.
37:32You get that white glow in the night.
37:36In the absence of, if you have a mark of some sort of ribbons or whatever.
37:39Ribbons or what.
37:40You just break a leaf and drop it on the ground.
37:42And if we have to come to search for you, we will follow the leaves.
37:46We'll know what mark you left.
37:47We'll be able to pick it up.
37:49Alright, some good pointers there from Captain Rambarat, of course, for hikers and hunters as well.
37:55So we're going to take a short break and we'll be back.
37:57Stay with us.
38:06I'm here to talk to you about what to do if your child has any cuts or bruises.
38:10It will be really important to stop the bleeding initially.
38:13So you can use something like gauze.
38:15Or if you don't have gauze, a clean t-shirt to apply direct pressure to the wound to stop the bleeding.
38:22Next important thing would be cleaning the wound.
38:25So in that case, you may use something like saline to gently wash it.
38:29Or clean water to gently wash the wound.
38:33Do not use anything abrasive or painful such as rubbing alcohol.
38:37Once it's clean and the bleeding has stopped, you can actually then again apply gauze or t-shirt.
38:43And use a bandage to wrap the wound until you can seek medical attention.

40:01Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
40:27I'm your host, Mark Wilson.
40:28And of course, joined today by Captain Valence Rambarat from the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
40:34And certainly, we have to thank him for all the hard work he and his team has been doing over the last three and a half years.
40:43And continue because it's a never-ending cycle of, you know, assisting the police.
40:48Whether it be a missing person or something more serious as in this case with Mr. Ram Narain.
40:53And it's never easy, of course.
40:55Never easy.
40:56And each day brings a new case and new thing that we have to work on.
41:00So, we have to be ready and prepared.
41:02And we always are ready and prepared to hit the ground.
41:06And it's something we've been doing for three and a half years.
41:10We enjoy what we're doing.
41:11We love what we're doing.
41:12And thank God we have 32 persons throughout the country.
41:16Trinidad and Tobago who are willing to respond.
41:18I wanted just to say thanks very much to Caster Jerry, our member in Tobago, for making sure that we had accommodation, meals, and everything during our stay in Tobago.
41:31Unfortunately, he couldn't extend it to the cannibal period because he himself had to make some dollars for the cannibal.
41:37Right.
41:38I'm sure everybody in Trinidad and Tobago, of course, certainly appreciates all the efforts you all put in to help all those families.
41:46Whether it be good, bad, or indifferent, as the case may be.
41:50We want to encourage our callers, of course, 623-1711.
41:53Extension is 1992, 1993, 1996, and 1997.
41:59Now, we're just going to change the gears a little bit here and look at some videos.
42:10It seems to be a particular trend starting to emerge.
42:13Maybe it has been going on before.
42:16This shopper apparently parked their Ford Ranger at an establishment in South Trinidad in a car park in the basement.
42:25And they came back to meet this.
42:28Missing taillights on both sides.
42:32Also, the lady in the video is also talking about a table that they had in the tray of the van also gone.
42:42And I know that there are some people, I'm not saying all, but there are people that get their taillight damaged and so on.
42:49And instead of going to buy it, they go and they steal from somebody else.
42:52I remember having an incident many years ago when I had one of my first vehicles.
42:57That I came, when I parked, and there was a youth facility to go to a sporting event.
43:04And I came back, and the entire right side of the reverie mirror was gone.
43:08Well, you know, we had the reverie mirrors and the little knobs on the car tyres.
43:14But I think each day we lower in the bar.
43:18I think in terms of on the moral spectrum and what people would steal.
43:24Because, I mean, I could understand you might want a rare van light.
43:28But how you took the table?
43:31How come you took the table as well?
43:33But I think we're seeing the unravelling of some of the strands in the social fabric of the nation.
43:39And we have to begin to pay attention to all of these things, whether it's the woman.
43:44I mean, what could possibly could a woman do to deserve her death this morning in San Fernando?
43:49I mean, I got up and when I read that, I was saying, no, this ought not to be like this.
43:56I'm looking forward to seeing what the numbers look for October in terms of murders.
44:02Because August, I don't know if you saw this.
44:06August 2024 had the second highest murders in the history of this long protracted period of high murder rates in the country.
44:19And I'm looking to see what October brings.
44:22Because we're not seeing it stopping, but we're seeing an increase, an uptick in home invasions.
44:30We've seen an uptick in robberies, in murders, and incidents where the buys have been lowered every day.
44:40You see, you saw the fight in Crown Point, that type of thing, the burning of the music truck in Tobago.
44:46And I don't know what is responsible for rage in the country, whether it's an economic issue or a deep psychosocial issue running through the country.
44:58But we need to pay attention to it.
45:00And I would dare say that missing persons are part of it.
45:03Because if you could get 40 missing persons as of October the 26th.
45:08For October, thus far, 26 days, 40 missing persons.
45:14That is a story.
45:15And if you look at it, all are connected.
45:19And it speaks to what's going on in the society.
45:22Most definitely.
45:23And I just want to take a, connected to what we were just looking at, another video with a similar incident.
45:29Here, a vehicle, a fairly new four-ranger, as well as a TEG.
45:35Similar circumstance.
45:39Taillights stolen on both sides in this case.
45:45And, you know, it's ironic because they happened within, I guess, two or three days of one another.
45:51Yeah.
45:52So, you know, you have to ask, is there a particular trend starting to emerge?
45:56Starting to emerge.
45:57Where they are obviously targeting four-ranger taillights.
46:01Yeah.
46:02And these high-end vehicles, these taillights, all accessories to these vehicles are very, very expensive.
46:09Yes, yeah.
46:10We have a call on the line.
46:12Caller, good evening.
46:15Hi, good evening.
46:16Good evening, caller.
46:18Yeah, good evening.
46:20Yes, we're hearing you.
46:21Go ahead.
46:23Yes, I was calling concerning the hikings and the hunters now.
46:31Because I think that people should be prepared when they go in the bush, when you go hunting.
46:40Right?
46:41You need to be prepared.
46:42You need to have water, snacks, all these things.
46:46You need to be able to survive three days.
46:49Understand?
46:51Extra clothing if you get wet, you know, and all these things.
46:56And, I mean, we're missing out on these important points and tips.
47:01Plus, plus, hunters and hikers need to be able to orientate a map, to read a map and pull your compass and know where, which direction you're heading to and from.
47:15Apart from GPS.
47:17Right?
47:18A map will help you.
47:20Understand?
47:21So these are just a few things that I feel should come to the front when people are going to hunt and all these things.
47:30You must be prepared.
47:31It's never good going by yourself.
47:34That is never good.
47:36Well, the last point is a very good point, caller, that you ought not to go by yourself.
47:41Right?
47:42But as hunters, there are mistakes.
47:44Remember, it's like the issue of hunting a game's PC and you never know what direction you will end up in.
47:54But I'm not too worried about the hunters.
47:57The hunters know their way around the forest.
47:59I, myself, in my early days would have fumbled a bit and now I don't get lost, but in the early days.
48:07So you have to factor in that, that we always have young hunters coming on board and they need to be, go through that experience.
48:15And the additional thing is you don't want to have a heavy backpack because remember, in case, let's say you catch a 24-pound lab while hunting,
48:27you ought to put that in your bag and come out.
48:29So a hunter like me, we're going with sufficient water, maybe a couple of snacks, and that's it.
48:37I'm trained to go for the entire day without food and the entire day, entire night.
48:43And most hunters are trained like that.
48:45We are hungry when we get out, but we could go for a long time, just give us water.
48:51So I take your points, but with respect to the hikers, I think they have to pay particular attention to their trails and carry enough things so that they could survive for a day and a night.
49:07All right, I know he gave pointers earlier on, so if you were listening on earlier as well, he would have indicated certain tips that hikers as well as hunters can take into consideration when they're going out into the forest or into terrain where they might be inclined to get lost.
49:27We're going to take a short break and we'll be back. Stay with us.
49:37Plumbing problems?

50:11I eaten five on the spot one time.
50:14Morning, Greens.
50:15Hi, Dolly.
50:16You should go by the solar-powered doubles man.
50:18He's cooking doubles fresh on the spot and using a solar-powered fan to keep the smoke out.
50:22It's real cool. You have to try it.
50:24I'm sure he's charging more for his solar doubles.
50:27It actually saves him money to go solar, so I doubt that.
50:31Let's go see if this solar doubles man is saying anything.
50:33Dolly, you want to come for the ride?
50:35Yes, please.
50:36All right, come on.

51:58Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
51:59I'm your host, Mark Besson.
52:00Of course, joined today by Captain Valence Rambarat from the Hunter Search and Rescue Team.
52:07And we really want to, obviously, you know, there's always criticism when the police does something that a lot of people don't like.
52:15But there are also the highs that we have to kind of praise them for.
52:20There was an incident last night, and I think the owner of the vehicle would really like to thank police officers under the auspices of Superintendent Henry in the Western Division,
52:32especially the St. Clair Police Station and the St. James Mobile Unit.
52:38Apparently, in a nutshell, the vehicle was taken at gunpoint in the St. James area, and the person was forced to drive to a dead-end street not far away in the St. James area,
52:52where they were confronted by three other men armed with firearms.
52:57I believe that the person was relieved of some cash and valuables, and they pointed the gun in the direction of the individual and set to run, and he left.
53:05Incidentally, because the vehicle was outfitted with GPS, the police were able to apprehend, not, not, sorry, they were able to locate the vehicle in the Laventille area within an hour.
53:18So, we just want to tell the officers, sorry, the regiment as well, that the caller, sorry, not the caller, the owner, is extremely grateful that you all were able to recover the car,
53:30and of course, the person who was in the vehicle was unhurt.
53:34So, on that note, of course, we have to close Mr. Amarette, so any closing comments?
53:40Well, I also want to say that the police, to thank the police, because there are lots of good police officers out there, and on our trip to Tobago,
53:50to see five police officers grinding out seven miles of rugged terrain with us, that was exceptional.
53:57I didn't expect it from them, but they stepped up to the plate, and so that we want to continue to praise the police officers who each day go out there and do a good day's work.
54:09As we wrap up, I would just want to wish the Hindu community Shubh Diwali, I wouldn't be on until next Monday,
54:18so, and hopefully we could have Subhesh Ram Narain back home before Diwali, that's my wish.
54:25Certainly, and we are also optimistic and hopeful, and we hope that the family would be reunited with Mr. Ram Narain soon.
54:34So, on that note, we're going to say goodbye, of course, remember, repeat tonight at 11.30, and rerun tomorrow at 11 o'clock.
54:43The TV6 News is up next, stay with us.
55:04That's a lot of money for the police.
