04:25A very special welcome Trinidad and Tobago and of course our viewers across the world.
04:30Certainly a very wet weekend in the last 48 hours.
04:35And our friends in the West and area of Trinidad really felt the brunt of it.
04:42Of course, serious, some very heavy rainfall that later led to some devastating flooding in areas
04:49in Dago Martin, Piti Valley, Maraval even.
04:53And you can see some of the images there.
04:56Water 2, 3 and even 4 feet in some areas, even on the major roadways in West Trinidad.
05:04And of course a number of persons or residents suffered losses.
05:09Their cars were filled with water, appliances lost.
05:14So obviously the Dago Martin Corporation is now working in tandem with residents in that area there.
05:23Hopeful that they can bring some measure of relief to these residents.
05:28This is Maraval in the Burger King area there.
05:33Water really gushing from the nearby river courses onto the roadway in certain areas, even in Dago Martin.
05:42I recall somebody calling me about in the West Moran area there.
05:47Just after West Moran there where the water course meets the sea, the Dago Martin River,
05:53the water was actually out on the roadway there.
05:56People obviously had to proceed with a lot of caution.
05:59And some people were stuck in traffic and so on.
06:02Even on the north coast roads there were reports of fallen trees as well by people.
06:10And we had a number of social media videos showing the devastation that these floodwaters caused.
06:18And of course in some areas where it was highly dangerous to even try to venture.
06:24And of course no person will know that better than today I'm with Captain Balance Rambarat
06:33from the Hunter, Search and Rescue Team.
06:36And of course today our theme is missing persons.
06:40And I know up to last night you guys were at Catwaro Dam in Pinal where unfortunately Mr. Sunil Sankar
06:48who apparently would have gone into the water around six o'clock yesterday and disappeared.
06:54And you all were obviously called in last night.
06:57Yeah, a pleasant good evening to the viewers on Beyond the Tief
07:01and it's a pleasure to be here once again.
07:04Mark, yesterday evening in Pinal our team would have received a call at 6.36 p.m.
07:12from Corporal Sukram from the Pinal Police Station
07:15indicating that a gentleman would have gone into the water
07:19in a huge dam located in Catwaro Trace, Pinal.
07:24And he did not return.
07:27In terms of our response time I was so happy to have 10 members down there quickly.
07:32And when we got there we made fire services trying to locate the body in the pond using a dinghy.
07:39So we stayed, we assisted with them.
07:42We assisted them and when they were finished...
07:47I think some images here of you guys last night.
07:50Because I know the police would have contacted you guys
07:53and then obviously walk us through how you would have retrieved the body of Mr. Sankar
08:00knowing that the water drops fiercely and deeply I guess because it's a dam.
08:06And they're doing a lot of dredging I understand.
08:08It's a dam that belongs to us.
08:10So Mark, when we have to search a pond what we use is weights, fishing hooks and a long rope.
08:17And we use the weights to throw this out as far as we could.
08:22Sometimes up to 15-20 feet in that pond.
08:25And we drag it to the bottom of the pond hoping that the fishing hooks would snag anything.
08:31And after about I would say 17-18 throws last night in the area where Mr. Sankar was last seen
08:41we were finally able to snag the body using the fishing hook technique.
08:45And Mark, it speaks about innovation and creativity and experience of the team.
08:51We've utilised it before. We know it's successful.
08:54And we did try it last night again in a very huge dam, very deep.
08:59But it worked.
09:00And that area there where you might have believed you might have retrieved the body.
09:03What was the approximate depth?
09:07You're looking at between 15-18 feet of water.
09:10Even with that heavy weight it takes time for that to reach to the bottom.
09:15So when we throw we have to wait until it touches the bottom.
09:18So we know the depth because the rope would be feeding into the water.
09:23So we have an idea of the approximate depth of the water through using that technique.
09:28Yeah, because I know this is some of the images that you guys are using,
09:32the gear and so on, coming out of the water.
09:35And I know previously that of course his friends said that they had attempted to try and rescue
09:40or try to find him in the water.
09:44And of course they weren't successful.
09:47One of his friends here was relating to reporters from the Express and the South Bureau earlier today,
09:54Avinash Lal, indicating that they were liming and so on in that area just behind you there.
10:00Just behind him, sorry.
10:02And he would have ventured after eating a piece of guana towards the riverside.
10:08And of course I know it's probably perhaps very dark.
10:10I don't know if he lost his footing and went into the water in some way.
10:14I think he was shocked by the immediate drop in the water in terms of the depth of the water.
10:22And where we found him, we found him lying belly down, maybe about 40 feet.
10:29So he would have probably walked in or tried to swim a bit and struggled.
10:34That would have taken him to about 40 feet out into the pond.
10:38And that's where we found him.
10:40But I just want to caution people.
10:42I mean it's a nice, it's a lovely landing spot.
10:44It was built by the villagers so that they could go there and spend lovely evenings.
10:50But you have to be very, very careful if you cannot swim
10:55or if you're under the influence of alcohol, stay away from these huge ponds of water.
11:02Right, definitely.
11:04So good work there. I guess at least I'm retrieving Mr. Sanka's body for his family and so on.
11:09We're going to take a look now at our headlamps.
11:34This was some of the headlamps within the last 24 hours.
12:01That last image there, it speaks to something that has been happening quite frequently
12:08in certain areas where they are targeting elderly persons.
12:13And this gentleman apparently was attacked by robbers who came into his home
12:17and chopped on the head over the weekend.
12:20And we want to implore persons that are in that, those elderly persons,
12:24you know, make sure people check on you guys.
12:27And I mean even relatives or friends in and around the area
12:30because you never know who's lurking out there.
12:33And then you have, we know the gentleman well.
12:36We have a teammate who is related to the gentleman
12:39and we heard that there are some reports of robbery in that area,
12:43that's the Rochard Road in Barrack 4.
12:47So we want to ask the residents in Rochard Road to be very careful,
12:51be vigilant and to band together and form some bit of a neighbourhood watch
12:56to combat the rising robberies in that particular area.
12:59Because in that area there was also another robbery.
13:01A couple of months ago the similar, he came into the gentleman's house,
13:04former head of the penal business team I believe.
13:07Yes.
13:08And then we had this issue with a pensioner who was taken out of his home by men who robbed him,
13:13drove his car a couple of days ago, Mr Thomas,
13:16and apparently allegedly stabbed him to death and left him in the car there.
13:21So it's a pattern where they are targeting.
13:23And even with missing persons, we focus on the elderly
13:26and we see a rise in those persons who go missing and we wonder what happened to them.
13:33Certainly, yes. Very unfortunate there.
13:36Now we also saw in the headlines this particular image.
13:41This is downtown Port of Spain.
13:45And of course we have been speaking repeatedly to everyone
13:51to be very, very vigilant of their surroundings.
13:54The guy passes, he grabs a chain and he runs off.
13:58Of course this is nothing new in the Port of Spain area.
14:01There have been a lot of reports in the last couple of years of people,
14:05especially around this time, Christmas.
14:07Be mindful of where you wear your jewellery.
14:10I'm not saying that you can't wear your jewellery,
14:12but you have to be very selective of areas where you're wearing this jewellery
14:16because there are wandering eyes and there are those pickpockets
14:19and these people waiting for that opportunity.
14:22Yeah, and thanks to the men who responded quickly and came to our assistance.
14:27I read somewhere that she is a police officer, a sergeant of police.
14:31But nevertheless, this is your jewellery.
14:36I have discarded all marks.
14:38I'm not sure for you, but I'm not going to take the chance.
14:43All right, well, the thing is I just want to wear silver and a silver hoop.
14:47That's it.
14:48We're going to take a break and we'll be back.
14:50Stay with us.

17:38Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
17:39I'm your host Marc Bessant, of course,
17:41joined today by Captain Valence Rambarak from the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team.
17:45And, of course, one of the things that we focus on a lot during this segment is,
17:50of course, missing persons for this month,
17:54as well as outstanding or what you would have been able to fill out for the last month before.
17:59Yeah.
18:00Okay.
18:01So, Marc, we had a really tough week,
18:02and I know on Tuesday,
18:05before I gave the missing person report on Tuesday,
18:09I was able to, on behalf of the team,
18:11receive an award from the Fathers Association of Trinidad and Tobago,
18:16Mr. Randolph Fields and his team.
18:18Congratulations.
18:19And so we received an award from his organization
18:24in celebration of International Men's Day,
18:28which was on Tuesday last week.
18:31Then we had also, we had a marriage in the team,
18:34so two of our teammates got married on Saturday.
18:38Celine and Vinod,
18:41they formally tied the knot,
18:46and we had a wonderful celebration down in Rio Claro.
18:49It was magnificent.
18:51It was so much fun and entertainment.
18:54And then on September the 26th,
18:57we found a bullet-ridden body in Rosilac,
19:01and there was a vigil for that person.
19:05His name is Mohan Khat Ghidari Singh.
19:09I think the candlelight vigil was held as a call for justice
19:16because he went to hunt the persons
19:19who would normally go to hunt with.
19:22They are not speaking,
19:24and he would not go to hunt without these group of guys.
19:29So the family is worried,
19:31and they want to see some movement
19:33in terms of trying to get this situation resolved.
19:38And so our members went down there.
19:40And then also what we did this week,
19:43Mark, we were really busy.
19:45We had a career day to attend
19:47to England's nursery school in Rio Claro,
19:49and members turned out there to engage the children.
19:53They were excited when we lifted the drone,
19:57and they were able to view the footage live
20:00and see above their school.
20:02And so it was a very, very interesting encounter
20:06with these young kids
20:08who were dressed as firemen and doctors and whatnot.
20:11So that's part of the thing we do.
20:13We do outreach programs to schools.
20:16In terms of missing persons,
20:19from November this, 2024,
20:23we've had 31 persons reported missing.
20:27And as to date,
20:29we still have 10 persons who remain unaccounted for.
20:34These 10 persons, these three,
20:37from Point 14, Warren Morris,
20:41and then we have Junior Taylor
20:45and Winston Rustand.
20:48These three persons have been outstanding
20:51for a few weeks now,
20:53and we've not made any progress
20:56with respect to these three missing persons.
20:59Antonio Mangatal remains missing.
21:01He's a junior and falls under the children's authority,
21:05and they're working hard with us to try to locate him.
21:08Again, we have an idea where he is.
21:11Christina Budan,
21:12we were able to resolve one of the cases in Faizabad,
21:15even though she's from the Rio Claro district.
21:17We know that she's in the Faizabad district,
21:20and so we're working with the police there to get her back.
21:25Home, we have Celicia Camijo.
21:30She was reported missing during this week,
21:34and we're working with her.
21:36We're in contact with someone
21:38who is assisting us there in Bitam Gardens.
21:43Karina Sanchez,
21:44we've not been able to make any movement this week
21:47because we just didn't have the time,
21:49but hopefully by weekend we can make some time
21:52to go back into a particular area there to get her.
21:56Then, Mark, you had Shashi Anand Rampersad,
21:59which is another abduction,
22:01and we've not had much information on the abduction.
22:05We don't know if it was a kidnapping for ransom.
22:08I don't know if you have information on that,
22:10but we don't have that information.
22:12But he is from Lanshpark
22:16and was kidnapped from the Lendo village enterprise district.
22:20I did say, I believe on Friday,
22:24that I understand the police has information
22:27about the alleged suspects
22:29that may have been involved in the abduction of Mr. Rampersad.
22:33I believe it was on Thursday afternoon.
22:36They are pursuing certain leads,
22:38and of course, with discretion,
22:40I will not reveal more than that,
22:42but they are pursuing certain leads,
22:44and it has also pushed them into an area in East Trinidad as well.
22:50As usual with these cases,
22:52we come under a cloak of confidentiality,
22:55so we can't speak much to this case.
22:58Then we have George Laborde
23:01from Harmony Hall in Marbella.
23:04We're looking at this one.
23:06He's an elderly gentleman,
23:08and we may be there tomorrow to try to find him.
23:11Then we have Christopher Hunt.
23:13He's a gentleman, again an elderly gentleman,
23:18very popular in St. James.
23:20He's known by the name of Fish.
23:23He actually lives in the cemetery in Salazar Street,
23:27so he's basically homeless,
23:29but he's in contact with his sister.
23:31This is a search of him?
23:33This is a search we conducted,
23:35and this is the military cemetery in St. James.
23:38We got word that if he isn't at the cemetery on Salazar Street,
23:43he would most likely go up to the military cemetery.
23:47Just off Long Circular Road?
23:49Just off Long Circular Road.
23:51What time was that you guys went there?
23:54That was probably about 8 p.m. in the night.
23:58Okay, okay.
23:59It's a graveyard now, that's why I asked.
24:01Yeah, but we are not afraid to go anyway.
24:03Yeah, yeah, I know.
24:04It's part of what we signed up for.
24:07Yes.
24:08All right, and then, Mark,
24:11the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service,
24:14the command center had called me about 8 o'clock,
24:17I believe it was on Wednesday night,
24:19to indicate that a fisherman had said
24:23that he had spotted a body in the Carone River,
24:28and he was unable to give a precise location,
24:32except to say that it was west of the north-south bridge
24:37Carone Bridge.
24:39And at quarter to five, Mark, using our own resources,
24:44again, we rented our own boat,
24:46we started to search the Carone River
24:49from the highway, the north-south highway bridge.
24:53And if you look at the image on the screen,
24:58it tells you the difficulty and the skill the team has,
25:02because that body was located within a ton of garbage,
25:06debris, and it was also covered with the hanging branches
25:11from a tree.
25:12So to be able to spot that in there is extremely difficult,
25:16and it speaks to the skills of the team.
25:20I am sure many fishermen would have passed right there
25:24and not noticed that there was a body inside there.
25:27So approximately 7 a.m. on Thursday,
25:33we located that body.
25:34It was a female, very decomposed.
25:37And so we're asking, I just want to make an appeal, Mark.
25:43This body was found just after where the Sawa River
25:49pours into the Carone River.
25:51So there exists a possibility that it may be someone
25:57from the Sawa-St. Joseph area
26:00who may have been washed down or some unfortunate incident
26:04and come down the river and arrived in the Carone River.
26:09Additionally, it could be tied to, you know,
26:12there was a discovery made in the Carone River
26:15early in the week.
26:16So the two could be tied, or this could be a separate one.
26:20But I wanted to appeal to those residents in Sawa-St. Joseph,
26:24if you know you have a missing female,
26:27please contact us at 799-1453.
26:31And there was a Tobago fisherman who had gone missing.
26:36I don't know if you mentioned him in this.
26:39He's outstanding for October,
26:41one of the four persons in October who is missing.
26:44And so while this was happening on the Carone River,
26:49we received a report of a missing person, Winston Tecky Thomas.
26:55And minutes or within seconds of posting him as missing,
27:00persons started to comment that they saw his car on the highway.
27:03And we asked one of our teammates to rush down there.
27:06He arrived there together with the police.
27:09And when the police approached the car,
27:13they were able to find a body inside the vehicle.
27:16And his son, Mr. Thomas' son, identified him.
27:22So again, even though we were in the Carone swamp,
27:26we have additional teammates who could work throughout the island.
27:30And that was basically two missions.
27:33I went down just to speak to the family
27:36and to make sure that everything was OK there
27:39after the search on the Carone River.
27:42All right. I think we have to take a short break.
27:45And we'll be back. Stay with us.

30:52Welcome back to Beyond the Tape, I'm your host Marc Bessant
30:54joined today by Captain Valence Rambarat from the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team.
30:58Just want to remind you of the numbers to call 623 1711 Extensions 1992, 1993, 1996 and 1997.
31:07I think we have a call on the line.
31:08Call her.
31:09Good evening.
31:10Pleasant.
31:11Pleasant.
31:12Good evening.
31:13Marc, with regards to the flooding in the West, especially Devo Martin, Marval area.
31:20This is my personal view and I honestly believe that a lot of people share the same view.
31:27My thing is, you see the cotton, when you look at the hills, Devo Martin, Marval,
31:32the amount of structures that are going up there.
31:35When you look at the amount of mud and things that are coming down.
31:39To me, I believe that cutting up the hills has a very big part to play in the flooding in those areas.
31:47And honestly, it is not being addressed.
31:50I try to understand how Tongan countries pass, how they pass these plans and it's okay for these structures to go up.
31:59One, two, my second point is, will there ever be a time in the near future.
32:04My second question.
32:05Sorry.
32:06In the near future, will you all invite the Minister of National Security?
32:11One, two, and I have a suggestion.
32:14I honestly believe that the MyLAS, My Path program, plays a very big role in the reformation of youth.
32:24Right?
32:25And I think that this is at least twice a month.
32:29You can invite the director or somebody from the program to encourage parents because this is not something that is mandatory.
32:38Right?
32:39But I always say that instead of showing the youth in the YTC and in the jails and things, I find the courts.
32:45There should be some status or some law where you find somebody under the 18 and under committing an offense that you put them in the program.
32:56It should be like a boot camp.
32:57Take courage because that program, trust me, is really, really a very good and healthy program for young men.
33:06Right?
33:07So, as I said, I feel that because of the flooding in those areas, because of the youth, my first question was with regards to the Minister of National Security.
33:18Come on in the program.
33:20Given the crime situation, police officers have it up to their necks.
33:26Thank you so much for your contribution.
33:29And definitely, Captain Ambarat will agree with me.
33:32There have been a lot of talk about basically these developments that have been built on the mountainsides in western Trinidad and, of course, other areas across Trinidad and Tobago.
33:42And there are question marks over how these approvals are granted, of course.
33:49And definitely, it has to be looked at a little more because I think a lot of people have been very vocal about this problem where structures are going up.
33:59You have condos, apartments high up in the mountains.
34:03Whether the due diligence was done in terms of the topography of the area to look at the flooding and other aspects of it.
34:10And I know you could also speak to that.
34:11Yeah, if you look at the hydrology of the area, the Degomartin Valley is one of the more densely populated areas in Trinidad and Tobago.
34:19And with more development, the river sizes remain in the same.
34:23So when you have additional roads and drains to put in, then that speeds up the flow of the water and you have no expansion taking place.
34:34What eventually may have to happen is that we may have to have floodgates down at the mouth of the Degomartin area so that water could be pumped out quickly during these downpours.
34:46But certainly, development is a contributing factor.
34:50The caller was correct.
34:52And she spoke about the MILAT and these programs to help the youth.
34:57Our team supports these programs.
34:59We know the content of the program.
35:02And certainly, it is a way out for those young males especially.
35:10And we have to include females now because you see what's going on with the missing persons.
35:14We have to include programs for them so that the feedback we're getting from CCC and the MILAT program is great.
35:23The boys stick together.
35:25They try to uphold good morals and values.
35:28And it's like a bat system, right?
35:31So they feel a bit ashamed if they don't conform to the new standards of behavior required of them.
35:39Right.
35:40And to your question about the Minister of National Security, I can just give you the assurance that I had a conversation with an official there.
35:48And we're hoping in not too distant future that somebody from that ministry will be coming on to the program to represent.
35:55And of course, we're also taking into consideration your suggestions of a director of MILAT coming on to the program at some point.
36:03And I'm sure my producer is taking in all these things.
36:06And I guess with time, you'll see some subtle changes as we go along.
36:11All right.
36:12So we want to deal with this image here.
36:15A little bit disturbing.
36:18But this is a gentleman apparently that was attacked in the Edward Street area in Port Hespain sometime this morning.
36:26My understanding is that he later collapsed near the square there near the Port Hespain jail.
36:35I don't know what his condition is, but obviously he seems to have been wounded in some way.
36:40Yeah, and it looks like a stabbing from what I'm seeing on the screen.
36:46And it's rather unfortunate.
36:48Yeah, I mean, you know, there are several violent incidents in the last couple of days.
36:54You know, you have shootings and then we have woundings like this and so on.
36:58And of course, we don't know what the circumstances are.
37:01But obviously, we want to encourage citizens to be mindful of your surroundings, where you're going, who you're going with.
37:08Especially if you're going to conduct business of some sort or buy something or sell something.
37:14Please tell somebody and try to be kind of vigilant about your surroundings.
37:18And if you're not sure of a particular area or going into that area, the best option, as I said,
37:24decide to meet in a very secure location like a police station or something where you will feel comfortable and officers are around.
37:32All right, we're going to take a short break and we'll be back. Stay with us.
37:44It's a holiday in Express.
37:47Do enjoy, Stacey.
37:49Thanks.
37:51You want some coffee?
37:54Can I have a drink?
37:59Perfect.
38:04That's exactly what we need.
38:07Honey, you promised this week.
38:10Whatever you're here for, we're here for you.
38:14Stay smart at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites.

41:06Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
41:07I'm your host, Marc Bessin,
41:08joined today by Captain Valence Rambratt
41:10from the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team.
41:13And, you know, over the last few days,
41:15there have been some unfortunate accidents
41:18across the nation's roadways.
41:20And we want to encourage you guys.
41:22This is an incident that occurred...
41:25I'm not a citizen, but I think the occupants
41:28were lucky to escape with their lives
41:30because this is a truck that was actually carrying
41:33what appears to be wooden poles,
41:36perhaps electrical poles.
41:38And the poles apparently went straight
41:42through the windscreen between both seats.
41:46It's something you're accustomed to seeing in movies
41:49like Final Destination.
41:50I'm hopeful that there was nobody hurt.
41:53They didn't appear to be.
41:54And maybe the driver and the occupant in the front seat
41:59escaped unscathed.
42:01But I didn't hear anything further about it.
42:04But certainly, God was with them
42:06because in a case like this to have escaped
42:08such an incident without major injuries,
42:12that had to be an intervention,
42:14divine intervention.
42:16Rather unfortunate, I'm not too sure
42:18if the load was properly secured in front.
42:21Obviously, it wasn't properly secured.
42:24But persons would have escaped with their lives there.
42:28That is really a stroke of luck.
42:31That is a very important point
42:33you have brought to the fore,
42:34is that when these heavy-duty trucks and so on
42:38are carrying stuff,
42:39they need to be properly secured.
42:41There are times when you,
42:42I'm sure you're driving on the nation's roads
42:44and you're seeing things that are not properly secured.
42:46Appliances.
42:47Sometimes you see a sofa on the side of the highway.
42:50It fell off a truck.
42:51Exactly.
42:52And it can endanger the lives of motorists
42:54who are in and around that particular vehicle.
42:56So we want to urge those persons
42:59who have to load stuff up on the trucks,
43:02to transport them from point A to point B,
43:05to be mindful and ensure that it's secured properly
43:08before heading out.
43:10So that you have to avoid injury,
43:11not only to yourselves,
43:12but also to prospective motorists
43:15on the nation's roadways.
43:17Yeah.
43:18So this was an incident
43:21that happened over the weekend.
43:22Unfortunately, a young man lost his life
43:25there in the El Seguro area on the highway.
43:28The heading, I believe it was,
43:30I think it's northbound?
43:32Sorry, westbound.
43:36Yeah.
43:37And I just want to say something about this.
43:39Mark, over the years,
43:42as we come closer to Christmas,
43:44we always have
43:46at least one of this type of incident
43:49where an educated young man,
43:51most likely from a business family,
43:54would perish in a road accident
43:58and may have been coming from a club
44:00or something like that.
44:01Mark, you and I pass through these things.
44:04We pass through it.
44:05I have a 30-year-old son who went through it as well.
44:08But I think the difference between us
44:11and what we're looking at is really speed.
44:14And not because you have a fast vehicle,
44:17you have to go and break the law
44:19and drive excessively fast
44:22on the nation's roadway.
44:24It could be to your own detriment.
44:26I am not sure if...
44:28I understand other vehicles were involved
44:30or got smashed into.
44:32But someone told me that
44:35he hit barriers at three points.
44:37Yes, I saw it when I was passing
44:39by the following day.
44:41Some concrete barriers.
44:43I hit some other metallic barriers.
44:45And the car flipped several times
44:47and then landed and burst into flames.
44:49It reminds me of two guys we found
44:51down in South by C3 Centre.
44:53Yes, I recall that.
44:56And when we looked at the van
44:58and the damage to the van
45:00and the fact that the guys would have
45:02most likely died instantly,
45:04we saw where speeding is the factor.
45:06And now we have to be cautious
45:08during this time.
45:10Christmas time brings out
45:12an exuberance in all of us.
45:15And we have to be extremely careful.
45:18Yes, most certainly.
45:20And this was another accident
45:23that happened over the weekend.
45:25It looked like a head-on collision
45:28with what appears to be a car,
45:32van and another Nissan vehicle there
45:36crashing head-on.
45:38And certainly people would have been
45:40injured in that.
45:42Look at that.
45:44There's a third vehicle there we're seeing
45:46also smashed.
45:48I'm not entirely certain of the location
45:50but I'm certain that people were hurt
45:52in that particular accident.
45:54And that's a carnage.
45:56That's really involving a few vehicles
45:59and lots of persons.
46:01And that should not...
46:04People have to be very careful on the road.
46:06Yes, certainly.
46:08And I just wanted to...
46:10I know there are a number of people...
46:12There was an accident on June 1st of this year
46:15in Montrose, Chaguanas
46:17involving a female driver
46:20and her brother,
46:22a young aspiring athlete
46:24by the name of Timothy Hamilton
46:26who went to Napa-Rima College.
46:28And apparently in that accident
46:30which happened to be a hit-and-run accident
46:33he suffered massive head injuries.
46:36And for the last five months
46:38his family has been trying to get a GoFundMe
46:41and so on to get medical assistance.
46:43And unfortunately Mr. Hamilton
46:47passed away on Friday last.
46:50He represented Trinidad and Tobago
46:53I understand, in the Curricula Games
46:55as well as involved in I think
46:57a sprint and long jump.
46:59So certainly a very young life.
47:01I think he was in about Form 5.
47:04A young life lost there and of course
47:06a driver that has no conscience
47:08just continued on there.
47:10Yes, and I think we have to look at this carefully.
47:13I'm not too sure...
47:16Well, I know that they have some new technology coming.
47:20So we are hopeful that that will be pretty soon.
47:23We're going to take a short break

50:22Welcome back to Beyond the Tape
50:23I'm your host Marc Bessant
50:24joined today by Captain Balanced Ramarack
50:26from the Hunters H and Rescue Team
50:28and we'll be sitting talking about speed
50:31and you know people being able to
50:33I mean gauge you know
50:35on the nation's roadways
50:36as Christmas season comes upon us
50:38more festivities, more parties
50:40Yeah, a lot of parties going to take place
50:42and a lot of lives going to happen
50:44and what happens is that you
50:46you ought to consume your liquor
50:48with moderation
50:50be mindful that we have the breathalyzer
50:53and you could be stopped at any time
50:56and more than that
50:57just be careful on the nation's roads
51:01because it rarely
51:03vehicles could be used as weapons
51:05and kill persons
51:07Yes, certainly, certainly
51:09and you know just
51:10I don't know if you have this video
51:12it's a video
51:14I don't think my producer said
51:15no we don't have the video
51:16but I know you were talking earlier on
51:18about the career day
51:20that you all attended there
51:22at in Rio Claro, preschool
51:25and what other events you have planned
51:27coming up in the next couple of weeks
51:30as we roll into the Christmas season
51:32We've been in such high demand
51:34that we now have a lot of outstanding cases
51:37to go and attend to
51:39and so we have very little rest time
51:41if I compare now to last year
51:44it got intense
51:46the workload became intense
51:48right down to
51:49I believe the 21st of December
51:52and then it petered off for the
51:54just those few days
51:55and then it caught back up in January
51:57so we're timing it
51:59and we're working it properly
52:01we are a team that we work hard
52:03so obviously when it comes to the Christmas season
52:05we want to have a little festive season
52:07so we are first and foremost hunters
52:11so when we celebrate Christmas
52:13wild meat is on the menu
52:15of course
52:17and so
52:19I think we have a caller
52:20we're going to take a quick call
52:21before we get out of here
52:23caller, good evening
52:25Yes, this is Lizzie Barnell
52:27start with your fortune
52:28I need to start sharing now
52:30a lot of young males
52:32lost in their life
52:33young Africans getting killed with bullets
52:36young and young getting killed by a car
52:39motor vehicle accident
52:41now what you're doing at 2 o'clock in the morning
52:44what you're doing at 2 o'clock in the morning
52:46you're going to live in Norway
52:47at 2 o'clock, 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock in the morning
52:50drinking leads to sleepiness
52:53sleepiness leads to
52:55getting killed
52:57on what else you have to do
52:59I think we should be more
53:01more observant
53:03more careful
53:05for their lives
53:06to drink and drive
53:08most of them party
53:09party and kill them
53:11thanks a lot
53:13that's a fair contribution
53:15and it was
53:17addressing the same point we were
53:19stating earlier on
53:21about speed
53:22and then alcohol consumption
53:24and tiredness
53:25leads to that
53:26a combination
53:27and he's correct
53:28getting sleepy and
53:29while you're
53:30faster
53:31right
53:32because you're trying to beat the clock
53:34you see
53:35so before I fall asleep
53:37at the time
53:38before I sleep and then
53:39something untoward happens
53:41and this is in the night
53:42so your judgement
53:43a bit clouded
53:44you can't sleep properly
53:45so it's not the time to be speeding
53:47but back to the topic
53:49quickly yes
53:50so Hunter's Search and Rescue team
53:52will be having our
53:53our get together
53:54while meat is on the menu
53:56as well as every other festive food
53:58for the season
54:00and what we also do is that
54:02we give hampers to all our members
54:04and then
54:05because we live like a family
54:06we have 24 children
54:08within the family
54:09they all get their snack bags
54:11and everything
54:12so we do have a
54:13enjoyable time
54:15at our
54:16Christmas get together
54:18and we look forward to that
54:20and obviously
54:21even though there's
54:22this festivity happening
54:23and so on
54:24you are on 24-7
54:26yeah
54:27you are on duty
54:28I remember last year
54:29we were out just before
54:30the day before
