Uh-oh, there seems to be something scary in my cereal bowl.
00:03
Here's your spooky spot on the Funko Pops General Mills Funko Exclusives Count Chocula and Frankenberry.
00:10
Your ad icon collection isn't complete without the cereal boxes themselves.
00:39
Add the Funko Exclusive Pop Count Chocula and Frankenberry cereal box to your lineup.
00:44
I don't really know what's scarier, the mascots or the sugar content.
00:48
Just before, of course, we get a closer look at the Funko Cereal Mascots Count Chocula
00:51
and Frankenberry, let's take first the ghoulish tape measure and see how tall these stand.
00:56
Now they're not quite going to be four inches.
00:58
They're just a little less than that.
01:00
They're about three and three quarters of an inch in height, or both of them are going
01:03
to be about 10 centimeters tall.
01:05
Speaking of spooky mascots, maybe not relating to cereal.
01:09
Here's what Count Chocula and Frankenberry looks like along with the Spirit Halloween
01:12
Flocked Version Trick or Treat Sam.
01:16
Speaking also of cereals, we're being as well joined by the Interdimensional Candle who
01:20
enjoys cereal and funny enough, ironically enough, his favorite cereal is life.
01:25
Looking at these individually, I did actually order these both online.
01:29
There is also as well a Boo Berry version of this character.
01:32
I only at the time of doing this review, only got my hands though on Count Chocula and Frankenberry.
01:36
I don't know why I'm waving my hand.
01:37
I'm just so nervous that the candle is still staring at me.
01:40
Can you at least look the ... okay, forget about it.
01:43
Both the characters look very much similar to one another in a sense that they are basically
01:47
the cereal boxes and then the bowls themselves basically are the faces for the characters.
01:52
Now the thing I really like about these is the fact that they are based on the original
01:56
cereal boxes and even though they have changed the look and the designs of the boxes over
02:00
the years, I would say that this is probably the closest thing to the 80s cereal boxes
02:04
when I was eating the cereal the most.
02:06
Count Chocula, as you can see though, is one that actually does have a little picture of
02:09
milk.
02:10
Frankenberry does not actually have that and I think when we get Boo Berry, which I still
02:14
want to get my hands on, Boo Berry is also very much similar to Frankenberry.
02:18
It's just a pair of hands.
02:19
So I kind of like right away that they're different from one another that, well, don't
02:22
spill that milk, whatever you do.
02:24
You can see that at least he does have a little picture of milk.
02:26
I like the way that they've actually angled the milk like this, looks like he's ready
02:29
to pour off a bowl.
02:30
Of course, on the front of the box, we got ourselves Count Chocula looking like he's
02:34
about to devour a box of his own, a bowl of his own cereal.
02:37
At the top corner, it does say Count Chocula.
02:39
I guess the adjacent corner to that, it says General Mills and it says chocolatey cereal
02:43
plus marshmallow bits.
02:45
The only thing that's a little underwhelming for me is the fact that everything that's
02:48
going on that's interesting about this is only on the front.
02:51
The moment you start to look at these from the sides and especially on the back, there's
02:55
nothing at all.
02:57
I feel like at the very least, not that I was expecting, you know, the nutritional facts
03:01
because you're never going to find them on any sugary cereals.
03:04
But even if they had just put a suggested image on the side, even if it was blurry and
03:08
you wouldn't be able to make out what those words would be, if they had only just put
03:12
something decaled on the sides and certainly on the back would have been, I think, a prime
03:17
opportunity to put like little Easter eggs, references to things that you'd find inside
03:21
prizes, little board games, there would always be something interesting on the backs of the
03:25
boxes.
03:26
Why is it that we're only getting treated to the front?
03:29
I mean, obviously, when you're looking at these, when you're putting them on the shelf,
03:33
the front thing is the only thing that you'd be really the most concerned with.
03:36
But I just think it would be nice if they had put something on the backs of the boxes
03:39
as well.
03:40
These are fairly substantially durable too.
03:42
Funko Pops tend to also have some articulation.
03:44
The thing, unfortunately, about these though, is that there really isn't a head.
03:47
The head is only really just the bowl of cereal, so you can't really rotate anything to it.
03:52
You can't really move the arms.
03:53
You can't move, of course, the feet.
03:55
I mean, they're basically just stactioned blocks like this.
03:58
If you're looking at this and you're comparing it along with Frankenberry, very much similar
04:02
sort of things are going on here, except they have sculpted the hands completely different.
04:06
They have it painted on.
04:07
Did you know Frankenberry had little strawberry fingernails?
04:10
Did you know that?
04:11
Now you know that.
04:12
Of course, the feet are very much different from one another too.
04:14
Count Chocolate sticks to browns, so like he's got brown sleeves, even like slightly
04:19
lighter brown gloves or hands.
04:21
He also has spats on his shoes.
04:23
Frankenberry doesn't do anything like that.
04:25
He's got basically like pink leggings, and he's also got himself like big red boots,
04:29
big clunky boots.
04:30
Now with both again, they look like the 80s cereal boxes right away.
04:35
I think that was probably the thing that kind of hooked me in on wanting to pick these up.
04:39
You know with this channel, I'm not really one that pushes Funko Pops all that much.
04:43
I have to be really interested in a Funko Pop.
04:45
I can't just willy-nilly go to a store and pick these up, which again, by the way, these
04:48
were Funko exclusives.
04:50
I actually picked these up, I think, from Retro Festive.
04:53
Seems to be like my go-to place every year when I want to get myself like Halloween or
04:56
Christmas-themed things.
04:58
Of course, with Frankenberry, just putting down Count Chocolate here for a second, Frankenberry
05:02
is again devouring his own bowl of cereal.
05:06
With his marshmallow bits, they were supposed to, I guess, be Frankenstein heads.
05:10
Count Chocolate was probably easier to spot what those things were supposed to be.
05:13
They were supposed to be bats, bats.
05:15
But Frankenberry, of course, the cereal was always underwhelming.
05:18
I mean, let's face facts.
05:19
As a kid, we always sort of just picked out the marshmallows, and then we were sort of
05:22
stuck with this bland old cereal.
05:24
The bland cereal also for Frankenberry was also known for one thing as a kid, and if
05:28
you ate the cereal yourself, you would know exactly what that was.
05:31
It would basically turn.
05:32
When you went to the washroom, it would change certain things, certain colors.
05:36
Again, there's a lot more going on in the front.
05:39
I guess one thing that's kind of neat is the fact they did take the little flaps, they
05:42
put the flaps on the tops of the cereal.
05:43
But come on, Funko, you needed to do a little bit more on the sides to sell this for me.
05:47
Not as if I already wasn't sold by these.
05:50
Just adding a little bit of detail on the sides, I think, could have gone a long way.
05:53
And hey, why not?
05:54
Why do we have to see a big blank basic box on the back?
05:58
They really need to add some extra things on there as well.
06:00
Now, again, I'd like to get my hands also on Boo-Berry, really, to be fair, I really
06:04
did want to get my hands on Boo-Berry prior to hitting record.
06:07
So at least I could have looked at the trilogy of cereal mascots from the Spooky Season.
06:12
But alas, I couldn't get my hands on Boo-Berry.
06:14
I think Boo-Berry goes online, I want to say, for about $20.
06:17
So he isn't going to break the bank at all.
06:19
Boo-Berry, I also feel, was also given a cereal mascot on his own.
06:22
I don't think the same could be said for Count Chocolate and Franken-Berry.
06:25
But for me, ideally, the thing that really, again, lured me into wanting to get these
06:29
for somebody that never really likes to collect Funko Pops is the appeal, the charm, that
06:33
these look like the old cereal 80s mascot boxes.
06:36
Of course, having the arms, of course, on the sides and adding then the pupils, those
06:39
familiar dots of black on the front for their eyes.
06:43
Adding that to the bowls, I think, was really the neat touch.
06:46
Are they the most, like, they're a little underwhelming in the sense that they don't
06:49
have any posability.
06:50
I guess it would really be the hardest thing.
06:52
I guess they probably could have put something on the legs where you'd be able to rotate
06:55
the cereal boxes.
06:56
You know, again, for what they are, something that I probably will only put out during the
06:59
Hallows season, I think they're kind of fun.
07:03
And I'm glad that I actually got the chance to pick these up.
07:06
Foolish of me to make the assumption that Funko never went further down the rabbit hole
07:09
when it came to milking the cereal mascots during the Spooky Season.
07:12
Of course they did.
07:13
Funko's all about that.
07:15
It dawned on me as I was wrapping up this review, of course, they did outside the realm
07:18
of doing, of course, the cereal mascots literally as cereal boxes, as seen in this spooky video.
07:23
They, of course, did do the Boo-Berry.
07:25
I would have liked to have gotten my hands on the Boo-Berry, so at least I could have
07:27
looked at the three of the cereal mascots I had as a kid.
07:30
Of course, outside of that, Funko did release Funko Pops account, Chocula, Franken-Berry
07:35
and Boo-Berry.
07:36
They've released as well Funko Blocks, which I don't think they make blocks much anymore.
07:40
They did basically think of it as a Funko Pop that's been run over by a car, completely
07:43
flat.
07:45
A few years ago here during the Spooky Spot Season, we looked at Franken-Berry, Boo-Berry
07:48
and Count Chocula in those.
07:50
And as well, some of my favorite things are the Funko Vinyl, that's V-Y-N-L, which looked
07:56
to me more like Rankin-Bass characters from cartoons.
07:59
They did release a two-pack of Count Chocula and Franken-Berry.
08:02
They also released the much more rare Fruity Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brutes.
08:05
I'd love to get my hands on those.
08:07
I know that will set me back a pretty penny, but rest assured, sooner rather than later,
08:11
I'll be getting my hands on those two packs of vinyl.
08:14
Nostalgia overload when it comes to cereal mascots during October.
08:18
I never really liked Count Chocula as a kid.
08:20
I still don't like Count Chocula as an adult.
08:23
Chocolate cereal was never a big thing for me.
08:25
I certainly did like, though, Boo-Berry.
08:27
Boo-Berry for the times that I had as a kid.
08:29
Maybe I was lucky enough to have it once or twice over two years.
08:32
And then after that, Boo-Berry, strangely here in Canada, just seemed to disappear.
08:36
Usually my go-to then was always Franken-Berry.
08:39
Yes, it was always a horrific sight to go use the bathroom as a kid later on, but Franken-Berry
08:44
was always it for me.
08:46
We never were lucky enough to have Fruity Yummy Mummy, Fruit Brute or any of those characters
08:49
after the fact.
08:50
It was always really just Count Chocula and Franken-Berry that were the ones that were
08:53
on the cereal aisles.
08:56
Certainly as a video question for you guys is, what was your favorite cereal mascot during
08:59
Halloween?
09:00
Was it Franken-Berry?
09:01
Was it Count Chocula?
09:02
Or maybe some of the latter characters, Fruity Yummy Mummy, Fruit Brute?
09:05
There's even a newer character, can't remember her name.
09:07
She's now starting to show up, actually all the cereals have showed up now here in Walmarts
09:11
in Canada.
09:12
I'm very tempted to kind of start picking up some of these, but I know the cereal isn't
09:15
really the greatest.
09:16
It's full of sugar and all the other scary things.
09:20
Let me know down below in the comment section, what your favorite cereal mascot was for Halloween.
09:24
And if you've lucky enough, then picking up any of these cereal mascots.
09:27
Also as well, if you guys did enjoy this video, do a solid, throw it a like.
09:30
You guys want to stick around for more, so bye.
09:34
So even though we are wrapping up things right now for General Mills, there will be more
09:38
spooky videos coming your way during the month of Spontober.
09:41
So hit the subscribe, turn on that bell, and keep your ghoulish peepers peeled to this channel.
09:45
As always, thanks for watching.
09:47
See you guys next time.
