00:00Hiya's decided to take a dive in the deep.
00:03Here's your look at new Hiya Toys to G.I. Joe exquisite mini-series, Torpedo.
00:24Torpedo is a highly skilled underwater demolition expert and a member of the elite G.I. Joe team.
00:28Renowned for his expertise in aquatic combat and his calm demeanor under pressure, he stands out as a formidable operative.
00:34Born in Hawaii and raised surrounded by the ocean, Torpedo possesses an innate talent for underwater missions.
00:40Beyond his aquatic prowess, he is capable of undertaking a variety of land and aerial combat assignments.
00:46His versatility and exceptional performance underwater make an invaluable member of the G.I. Joe team.
00:52One of the benefits, at least, of not doing these reviews underwater.
00:55I don't have to worry about those ugly tube worms.
00:58I'd like, if I can, to thank the folks over at Hiya Toys that did come through and provide the
01:02sample of the exquisite mini-series, Torpedo.
01:04We could have a look at this review.
01:06This guy had a pre-order that closed way back in February of 2025.
01:10Yet, though, his release date is the second quarter, quarter two of 2026.
01:15If you guys are interested to get this one for yourself, you probably could still check around online sites that
01:19normally stock Hiya Toys.
01:21In the meantime, for how tall the figure is going to stand, with or without his flippers, Torpedo is going
01:26to be about, I would say, like three and three-quarter an inch.
01:29So it's your standard size G.I. Joe.
01:31That's going to translate to a figure that's nine centimeters tall.
01:33The last time we looked at anything G.I. Joe happened to be this guy right here.
01:37Here's what the figure looks like with the exquisite mini-series Stalker.
01:40While we're also at it as well, let's bring back in some of the OGs.
01:43Here's what the figure looks like also with snake eyes.
01:45And hey, why not?
01:46She's not a Scarlet, but she's at least a Lady J.
01:50Luckily, I can breathe while going through all of his accessories.
01:53If I had to hold my breath, I'd probably pass out by getting to the end of them.
01:56We'll start things first with his display stand.
01:58You know, it looks pretty similar to the display stands we've gotten from before.
02:03Yes and no.
02:04I've noticed, though, with the recent G.I. Joe's, that they seem to have more like a darker gray base.
02:08It isn't almost as light of gray that we got with the original releases, and it's nowhere near as shiny.
02:13They work, though, the same way.
02:15You get these eye brackets.
02:16I know, I know.
02:16It's territory we've already covered.
02:18For the new time viewers, we'll kind of go through this all together.
02:21You, me, and everybody else.
02:22Take these eye brackets and take then multiple display stands.
02:26Connect the two together.
02:27Multiple display stands.
02:29Multiple possibilities.
02:30The possibilities are also the fact that figures do have, or the stands have, pegs that can plug into the
02:35bombs of the boots.
02:37Unfortunately, one thing about Torpedo, if you choose to give him his flippers,
02:40then you will lose the opportunity to use a display stand peg, because there's no holes, obviously, on the bottom
02:46of the flippers.
02:47I suppose they probably could have maybe put the hole, but the problem with that, though, is then you'd have
02:51to line up the hole through the flipper and through the boots.
02:54And the chances of that happening, I guess, if it's matched up to the shape, maybe it's possible, but it'd
03:00just be so much easier, I'm sure, just to give him the flippers without the holes.
03:03The flippers are soft enough in rubber.
03:05They're weird-looking flippers, though.
03:07I'm not really sure what they specifically look like, but generally, when I think of flippers, I tend to think
03:11of the ones that kind of stick out like this.
03:14Not these narrow.
03:15These almost just look like really flat-looking, like housecoat slippers.
03:19These would be kind of the slippers that your dad would just go out to pick up his morning paper.
03:23You can take the flippers, though, and you just slide them in.
03:26Essentially the same way as slippers.
03:28Do it on one side.
03:29Now, see here, he has the hole in the bottom of his foot.
03:31But the moment you slip in those flippers, you're losing that hole altogether.
03:36Also, what you seem to be losing, too, is the ability to get this guy to stand.
03:40He kind of teeters a little bit, doesn't he?
03:43Maybe I don't have the flippers on completely right, but it does kind of seem like he's not completely flat.
03:49He does also, of course, come included with his backpack.
03:51Now, the backpack technically came with the figure out of the packaging.
03:55I just chose to leave it off, or at least to go through all the accessories individually.
03:59He does have a breathing mask.
04:00Now, the mask is actually already attached to the back of the pack, so you can't have one without the
04:05other.
04:06The one thing I kind of wish, though, that he could have actually had, and we kind of go back
04:10to the idea of the mask.
04:11I mean, the mask is okay because it covers, obviously, over his face.
04:15But when I tend to think of Torpedo, I think of the goggles right on the top of a swimming
04:19mask.
04:20Usually like the way we would see in G.I. Joe, where you just have the little goggles on the
04:24top of his head.
04:25I wish that, while this being a good idea, that they could have also thought as well to include goggles,
04:30so he could have just had them on top of his head.
04:32Anyways, though, you just take the backpack here, and there's the peg.
04:36Just line it up to the hole that's on the back of his body.
04:39Do this first, by the way.
04:41Don't worry just yet about his mask, and then just take the mask and feed it over top of his
04:45face.
04:45Now, he's got straps on the back, so everything's kind of going to hold in place.
04:50Is it just me?
04:51Does it kind of look like he's got himself a mustache?
04:55I don't know.
04:56But again, like, I wish that maybe there had been a way that they could have included goggles being a
05:00separate piece.
05:00Because, you know, again, it's nice that he has this.
05:03By the way, too, it doesn't look like maybe there'd be a way to pull these off.
05:07I don't want to tempt that just in case I end up breaking the hoses.
05:10But maybe had there been a way to detach these and give him a second goggle piece,
05:15then he could still have the backpack, and he could still have his trademark goggles.
05:20His face is okay.
05:21You know, I don't mind it at all.
05:22He's very tan, certainly.
05:24It's a nice-looking face overall for him,
05:26or some would probably just prefer to have the face with the goggles or the whole mask piece over top
05:31of it.
05:32He does also, of course, come included with a couple of weapons, too, for him to wield.
05:37One of the weapons, by the way, does not belong to him.
05:40It does not belong to him.
05:41I'll just get him to stand here for a second.
05:42While I was kind of bringing everything in, and I happened to also bring in Stalker,
05:46I ended up accidentally bringing in the accessory that came included with Stalker.
05:50So, yeah, just ignore that.
05:51That doesn't actually come included with him.
05:52What he does have instead, though, is a gun.
05:55Now, the gun does not have, you could try as much as you want.
05:58It's not going to have a removable clip, but it's got a decently detailed gun.
06:01There's a hole right here.
06:03Where?
06:04Right there.
06:05Right there.
06:06That, I suppose, in theory, there's a peg right on the side of this backpack.
06:11Now, it plugs in, but it doesn't plug in very well.
06:13So, you line up everything, the peg, to the back of the gun here.
06:19Peg it in place.
06:20And just pray.
06:21Nobody sneezes.
06:22Don't cough.
06:23Whatever you do.
06:24Because if you do, and you bang that, that's going to fall off extremely easily.
06:29Now, you can also take the gun and put it into his hand as well.
06:33These hands, I've noticed, are extremely soft.
06:35So, bending fingers, for example, won't be an issue at all.
06:38Bending real person's fingers, that's probably going to hurt them.
06:41And they're probably not going to talk to you for the rest of the day.
06:43But, yeah, getting him with the holding of the gun is not a hard thing to do at all.
06:48The figure does also come included with his harpoon gun.
06:51The harpoon gun is not.
06:52It doesn't have a removable hook on the end of it.
06:54It does also have a strap.
06:55So, if you did want to, you can also take that strap and feed it up his arm.
06:59So, while he's swimming, at least, he's not sure to let it go.
07:03So, it just kind of feeds up the side of his...
07:05It does drop, unfortunately, easily.
07:08So, just pick that up right now.
07:10Looking also at the back of the pack, there's a clip right here that, for all intents and purposes, too,
07:15you could take yourself the harpoon gun and just plug it in between those prongs.
07:20So, there's at least a place to store.
07:22I think that's the right way.
07:23It might even be the opposite way.
07:24But there's at least a place to store both the gun, which would be right over here,
07:28and there's a place to store at least the harpoon gun.
07:30So, there's places for storage on everything.
07:33Taking the guns out of his hands.
07:35Now, I think here...
07:37I don't know if Hayatoys...
07:38I've said this before.
07:40Hayatoys does technically also include hands.
07:42The hands aren't specifically designed necessarily for holding the guns, for example,
07:46or the knife that we're going to be looking at in a second, too.
07:49To include things like this, I just feel are maybe unnecessary.
07:52Because the figure already has technically gripping hands on the ends of his forearms.
07:56Those same hands, by the way, can also hold the knife that he has.
07:59The knife is just a holster on the side of his leg.
08:02He unsheathed that.
08:03And he'd take the knife and put it into his hand.
08:06See, I mean, you maybe could make the valid argument that maybe the other hands would
08:10be a little bit more smaller of a grip, would maybe do the better job of holding the knife.
08:14And that's all fine and good.
08:15But I still think, honestly, they didn't need to have a second pair of hands.
08:19Dedicate maybe that plastic.
08:21Instead of giving a secondary hands, maybe give them a secondary pair of goggles.
08:26Him, him, him.
08:26Looking at that mustache face.
08:28I know it's not really a mustache face.
08:29Let's go ahead.
08:30Just put the knife back where we found it.
08:32Because if I don't put it back, I know I'm going to lose it.
08:35And should we also keep the flippers on?
08:36We'll keep the flippers on.
08:38I know we've looked at this already, but you can take the goggles off.
08:43And unfortunately, like, just the way that they're designed, even if you move them out
08:48of the way, they're always going to be in the way.
08:51I wish maybe that there could be a way to attach it.
08:53I know it's something I already covered.
08:55But again, one last time, just to look at his face.
08:58I'm basing a lot of this, obviously, from my recollection of Torpedo from the G.I.
09:02Joe Generation 1, or the old Sunbow series.
09:05I mean, I guess for an updated version of the character, it's not bad.
09:09Generally, though, when I think of Torpedo, I tend usually not to think of a white jumpsuit
09:13or white swimsuit, but instead I tend to think of gray.
09:16They chose instead to go with white.
09:17I guess it's a different departure from what he's used to seeing.
09:20The white looks okay.
09:21It's painted pretty well, too.
09:22Like, they painted a good stripe of it down the side.
09:25There's no place that I can really see the paint gets abruptly stopped.
09:29Or, I mean, obviously, it stops right here in the knee.
09:30Maybe that could be one place where they could have added the extra paint.
09:34Pegs are hard, though.
09:34Knee pegs, especially.
09:36Because, I mean, there's going to be always scraping.
09:38So they would either have had to settle on black, or they probably would have had to settle
09:42on white.
09:43I guess, in the end, black probably was the better choice to go with, especially when you're
09:47seeing it from the side.
09:48The only one other thing I've noticed, though, with Torpedo is I find his ankles are really
09:53tight to move.
09:54I say this.
09:55I easily could have just heated this up in hot water, maybe a few passes with the hair
09:59dry up, just to soften up that peg just a little bit, because I find the ankle joints
10:04are very stubborn.
10:06For the articulation on Torpedo, maybe what I'll do is I'll just take the pack off for
10:10right now, put it off to the side.
10:12Head's going to be on a ball joint, and a good ball joint, too.
10:15It allows the head to rotate all the way around.
10:17You can hinge it up and down, and you can also rock it back and forth as well.
10:21Top of the torso to you.
10:23Top of the torso, too, does have a ball joint that it allows to do what it's doing right
10:27now.
10:27You could technically, too, rotate it.
10:29Again, upper torso crunch, back and forth.
10:32But he does also have pretty much the same thing, too, at the bottom of his abdomen.
10:36So between those two, he can do actually quite a lot.
10:38Arms rotated all the way around.
10:40Just make sure, though, when you are hinging the arms that you've got the joint facing
10:43the right way.
10:44They also are allowing it the hinge of the 90-degree angle bend, or T-pose, if you prefer.
10:49Swivel, swivel in the bicep.
10:52A double hinge on the elbow.
10:53Sometimes it's really hard to get these double hinges to work really right.
10:56And of course, the hands do rotate all the way around.
10:58Careful, careful, please, when you are moving the hands around that you don't accidentally
11:02pop them off the peg.
11:03Legs split out.
11:04Technically, you can also bring the legs down just a little bit, and it gives you a little
11:08bit more clearance.
11:09So you can do high-fi kick and a kick at the back there as well.
11:13Swivel at the top of the thigh.
11:14The figure does also have a double hinge on the knee.
11:16And he does, again, have that ankle pivot.
11:18Now, the problem with the ankle pivot, though, is, yeah, fine.
11:21I can hinge it out this way.
11:22But bringing it in seems really stubborn, to the point where I really don't want to
11:26bend it too much, in case I accidentally snap the peg.
11:30Precautionary measures, of course.
11:31You could take the steps well in advance to heat these with hot water, or if you pass
11:34with a hairdryer, if you prefer.
11:36That might just alleviate some of the stress.
11:38At least the stress from the ankle.
11:39And by that, alleviate the stress that you're having with that figure as well.
11:43All in all, though, I like the look of torpedo.
11:45There are a few things, though, like from a cosmetic standpoint.
11:48Sure, yeah, I like the backpack.
11:50But I wish that there was maybe a way.
11:52Could there be a way to detach these?
11:54I feel like I'm going to get to that point where I'll pull it and then realize after,
11:58no, no, no, no, no.
11:59They weren't supposed to come off in the first place.
12:02Maybe could there have been a way maybe to have a different pair of goggles?
12:06I know this is, again, something, says the old guy that grew up with the Sun Tao series.
12:09I like, personally, goggles on the head of torpedo as opposed to a full scuba mask.
12:15That's just more, again, a personal preference to me.
12:18And, again, there is storage space, technically, too.
12:21So, again, like if you have yourself the gun, the peg doesn't really do the greatest of jobs of holding
12:26it.
12:26It almost really does seem like the peg is too large for the hole for the gun.
12:29But that seems to be the only place that I can find that attaches the gun.
12:33And, again, like it attaches, but it barely holds on.
12:36And then you can take yourself the harpoon gun, and the harpoon gun just attaches underneath like that.
12:41And I'm sure, though, it probably could fit the other way, too.
12:43But this is just a little bit wider than is the narrower on the bottom side.
12:47And then you can, again, store all your accessories.
12:49Whether things will be held accessory-wise, I mean, time will only tell.
12:52It depends on really how well you display that with your figure.
12:55And providing, of course, nobody sneezes.
12:58Because a little bit of banging, a little bit of nudging, and easily something like this gun could pop off
13:03the back of his pack.
13:03He's a good torpedo.
13:05He may not be the torpedo that I remember as a kid.
13:07But it doesn't mean, though, that Hyatois hasn't done a good job on him.
13:11There, again, are a few little things.
13:13Some things, actually, I forgot to really mention was that he's got a little control panel on the side of
13:16his one arm.
13:17I guess just to kind of keep track of the pressure that he's dealing with underwater.
13:21That would probably be a very important meter to have.
13:24I mean, again, like some of the little problems that I have is, like, if you don't want really, like,
13:28the mask on his face,
13:29I kind of like it without really it having.
13:31But then, unfortunately, though, it has to be attached.
13:33It's fully dedicated to being on the back of that backpack.
13:37It seems like the only way not to have the mask on his face is just to 86 the backpack
13:42altogether.
13:43Now, I'm not saying, though, that that mask isn't removable.
13:47But any time that I've tried to pull it, it does seem like it's permanently there.
13:52I mean, maybe people that are taking better risks than me could try to pry off those tubes.
13:57And maybe, yeah, the mask could completely come off.
13:59Because I would rather, I think, display Torpedo on the shelf without the mask than to have it on him.
14:05If it doesn't come off, well, you're looking at the problem that he's going to be facing.
14:09It's always like somebody with a mustache is leaning over his shoulder, wondering what exactly he's doing.
14:15By the way, though, again, a big thank you to the folks over at Hyatt Toys.
14:18Not leaning over my shoulder as far as I know, but we're kind enough, though, to provide the sample of
14:22the exquisite mini-series Torpedo that we could have a look in this review.
14:26As said already, this guy's pre-order dropped way back, I think it was like February 28th, 2025.
14:32And yet, though, the release date of him is actually going to be Q2, or quarter to 2026.
14:38Do you guys have this on pre-order?
14:39Let me know down below in the comments section.
14:41What do you guys also think of Torpedo?
14:43Would you have preferred the guy to have, like, goggles that could go on the top of his head?
14:47Or do you like, though, the look of having that scuba mask on the front of his face?
14:51What do you guys think of him?
14:51Let me know down below.
14:53If you guys also did enjoy this video, why not do it a solid throw to like?
14:56You guys want to stick around for more?
14:57So, I certainly do hope so.
14:59Got some more content.
15:01Content, you say.
15:02Content, I do say.
15:03There's more content coming your way, so I hope you guys have been coming back for that.
15:06In the meantime, though, if you do need a fix,
15:08popping up at the very end of this video will be playlists both for G.I. Joe and for Hiya
15:12Toys,
15:12if you have a little bit of time on your hands.
15:15Oh, those tube worms.
15:16Oh!
15:17Certainly, as always, guys, thanks for watching.
15:20See you guys next time.
15:24See you guys next time.
