00:00Bruce decides to sit this one out, rocking in see-through blue plastic.
00:04Here's your look at the McFarlane Toys, DC Multiverse McFarlane Platinum Edition, Dark Side War, Batman.
00:09Batman
00:39Batman is, you probably can't even see it for yourself.
00:41I'd like to thank first the folks over at McFarlane Toys that did provide this sample.
00:45The Dark Side War Batman, the Platinum Edition, should be available right now in stores or online.
00:50We're going to also be speaking of the Dark Side War Batman, bringing in the previous one that we've already had a look at.
00:55In the meantime, though, first things first, let's grab the tape measure and see how tall Batman stands.
00:59It's not surprising to know that this Batman also is using the exact same body as the previous Batman, just with a different head sculpt.
01:05Still the same size as applying here.
01:08The figure's going to be standing at 7 inches in height, translating to a figure that's 18 centimeters tall.
01:14Not too long ago, in fact, last week, we had a look at the previous Batman with Mobius Chair.
01:19Now, the molding is exactly the same.
01:21It wouldn't have been the case, though, when we first had a look at the Mobius Chair Batman,
01:24because I did say in that review that it essentially is using the year one Batman with now new tooled gauntlets and a different utility belt.
01:31While it was the case, I think, before, while they are using the same head sculpts,
01:34clearly it isn't the case now with the blue Batman.
01:37He's got a completely different head sculpt.
01:39While the body is going to be the same as this one, the head sculpt, at least from the neck up, is completely different.
01:44You get too stuck on same-sies.
01:45But Batman does have a lot of same things that the previous Batman did have, like, for example, the display stand.
01:51If you were to look at this stand, and then you happen to bring in this stand here, hey, they are identical, aren't they?
01:56Same placement of DC logo, same for the fact that the DC logo is also printed and branded in silver,
02:02and in walking distance, both have the same distance away of the pegs that can plug into either one of his boots.
02:07What was also interesting, too, is that the card that he comes included with happens to be the same card that came included with the original Mobius Chair Batman.
02:14I thought maybe perhaps they could have gone in here and just digitally changed Batman's suit,
02:18so it did look a little bit drastically different, but, you know, again, like with the budgets already being spent
02:22for the fact that they're using translucent blue plastic,
02:25I can't really expect necessarily that they're going to be using a different card.
02:28On the back of the card, though, the real name is going to stay the same.
02:30The same read-up stays the same as well.
02:33Batman with Mobius Chair from the Dark Side War.
02:36In cases like this, in case anybody was curious, I'm sure nobody really is,
02:40when I usually have cards like this that are exactly the same,
02:42I put one in a sheet, and I put the other one just on top of that.
02:46I don't feel like a need like this, where I need to occupy more than one space.
02:50If you're going to be giving me the identical cards,
02:52it's going to also take up the exact same square, or slip, where I slide the cards into.
02:57Let's move those off to the side.
02:58Now, the figure does have the Batarang.
03:00I'm going to bring in the Batarang and the hand so you guys can see.
03:04This is the original Batarang.
03:05This is now the new Batarang.
03:07This one's a little harder to kind of make out,
03:08but you may be able to see that this is actually using a blue,
03:11and it's a translucent blue.
03:13Although, I could wave this until the cows come home.
03:16Hi, cows.
03:17But you may not be able to see, actually, my hands waving behind it.
03:20The utility belt is going to be the same again.
03:23Like, the gauntlets are going to be the same as the other Batman.
03:25But even again, like, when it comes to accessories,
03:27they are also identical.
03:28They just happen to be molding, like this Batman, in a different plastic.
03:32The hands are also something, too, that can be swapped out.
03:35And right on the ends of the forearms right now,
03:37he has one gripping hand for holding said or previously said Batarang,
03:41and then he has a closed-grip hand.
03:43If you did want to have him, though,
03:44resting his hands against the arms of the chair,
03:46the figure does also have this as well.
03:47Oh, it just occurred to me.
03:48I didn't bring in the chair.
03:50I'll bring in the chair in a second.
03:51Here are the hands, though, for Batman.
03:53Here are the previous hands for the other Batman.
03:56Where's the one where we're clearly showing visible fingerless gloves?
03:58This one isn't as easy to show with the fingerless gloves,
04:01other than maybe the fact that the fingers themselves
04:03seem like they're a little bit brighter.
04:06Exact same hands, though.
04:07Where was the Mobius chair?
04:09Here is the Mobius chair.
04:10I can't believe I completely forgot about it.
04:12That's the Mobius chair, the one that comes in clear with Batman, to the left.
04:15To the right, though, is the one that came with the original Batman.
04:19Same mold, same assembly as well.
04:21What? There's assembly, too? Yeah.
04:23The front of the chair,
04:25this was a little bit harder, actually, to take apart.
04:28This one actually comes in the packaging.
04:29Actually, this one did as well, in two parts.
04:31You may have even saw at the beginning of the review
04:33when I was cutting all the twist ties. ASMR.
04:35But the front of this, though,
04:37snaps actually into the side of the chair.
04:39There's a slot right here, and there's a slot right here.
04:42And you take the two halves and you plug them together.
04:44Because without that, I mean,
04:45how would Batman really be able to sit on the seats?
04:46That would be rather awkward.
04:48Because half of his behind,
04:49his back behind, would be the thing
04:51that's sitting on the back of the chair.
04:53No, we want a full seat for the Cap Crusader.
04:55And that just snaps in place.
04:56If you look at, though, the two Mobius chairs,
04:58they are identical in mold.
05:00What's interesting, though, is, well,
05:01one does things better when it comes to the silver application of paint.
05:04More predominantly, you can see there on the front of the chair,
05:07down the side, and especially right around the standing area
05:09where Batman puts his boots.
05:11This one doesn't have that at all.
05:13The only thing it does have, though, going for it,
05:15is it does have some glitter.
05:17The glitter, I would imagine,
05:18would have been applied maybe to the plastic.
05:20I don't think that somebody has gone in there
05:21with a paintbrush and flicked.
05:23Can I go on my break yet?
05:26No, you must continue to flick.
05:29Just flicking the paint across the plastic.
05:31I would imagine, though,
05:32they probably have molded the plastic,
05:33because even if you look at the back
05:34of the way they've molded this,
05:36all of this, even on the back,
05:37does also have the glitter.
05:38It reminds me of Pizza Hut.
05:39Pizza Hut was always known.
05:40Their pizzas were the best,
05:41because they added the fairy dust
05:43on the ends of their pizza.
05:44It did make for a much more delicious pizza pie.
05:46Other than that, though, yeah,
05:47again, the Mobius chairs are exactly the same.
05:49This also does have the spinning disc on the back
05:52that's all down now with the glitter plastic.
05:54The original one, though,
05:55had more of a blue plastic.
05:57If you are, though, curious,
05:58you can take the back off of this one,
06:00and you can take...
06:02I know where this is going.
06:03I would hope to think you know where this is going.
06:04You can take this one off,
06:06and you can swap them around if you want.
06:07Does it really add, then, anything to the chair?
06:10Well, you could be the judge for yourself.
06:11Snap that in, snap that in.
06:13Does it make one a little bit better than the other?
06:15Maybe? I don't know.
06:16This one does, at least, again,
06:17have more silver on the front.
06:19This one doesn't have the silver.
06:20It does have the magic pixie dust.
06:22Whatever the thing that Pizza Hut employees
06:24are sprinkling on their pies.
06:26But again, you could swap out the wheels,
06:28really, if you wanted to.
06:30Should we put them back?
06:31No? Yes?
06:33We'll leave it on for right now.
06:34Well, while we have to put it back, though,
06:35when we get to this guy onto the turntable,
06:37or at least, though,
06:39using this wheel for right now,
06:40Batman does sit on the chair,
06:42sit atop the chair,
06:43by bending his legs,
06:45by bending his knees.
06:46Yeah?
06:47Yeah, you also have noticed, too,
06:48that he's using opaque plastic
06:49for the knee joints.
06:50It was visible, though,
06:51on the original Batman.
06:52It's certainly much more visible now
06:54with the translucent Batman,
06:55that they're using a different plastic
06:56for the joints.
06:57Probably just to ensure, though,
06:58that the plastic on the joints
06:59don't actually snap,
07:00and that you, as a collector,
07:01don't get sad that you spent the money
07:02to get this figure,
07:03only to have the joints break on you.
07:06Do we want to also swap out the hands?
07:07Okay.
07:08Well, first of all, too,
07:09I want to make use of the fact
07:10that this figure does have,
07:11right now, a gripping hand.
07:12Take the Batarang,
07:14wedge that in between his finger,
07:15and he holds it.
07:17He holds it A-OK.
07:18However, though,
07:19if you didn't want to swap out the hands,
07:20you just unpeg them from the peg.
07:22Take the hand that you want to use,
07:24plug that in place,
07:25and we'll do it on the side, too.
07:28We're not going to eat up.
07:29I know I'm not going to eat up your time.
07:31You have places you need to go,
07:32people you need to see.
07:33But again,
07:33if you want to get Batman's hands
07:34sort of in a seating position,
07:36the cape, by the way,
07:37has also got a wire frame.
07:38The original Batman
07:38also had that as well.
07:40Just take Batman,
07:41sit him on his,
07:42plunk him down on his seat,
07:43and you can have him displayed.
07:44The same problem, though,
07:46with the original Batman
07:46happens to be the same problem
07:48with this Batman, too.
07:48You probably can already even see.
07:50He slides off a lot on his chair.
07:53Now, you're probably even saying,
07:54arguing right now,
07:55yelling and cursing
07:56and throwing your hands
07:56towards the screen.
07:57This idiot is not putting him
07:59on the chair properly.
08:00Come on, now.
08:00We don't need to be mean.
08:02If we put him on the chair
08:03as best as I can get him,
08:04Batman still, unfortunately,
08:05slides off a lot.
08:08That's as best as...
08:09Oh, see, there you go.
08:10See?
08:11The cape, I feel,
08:12is one of the contributors
08:12to why Batman slides off the seat
08:14as much as he does.
08:15I mean, they've used
08:16more of a smoother fabric,
08:17but that doesn't give
08:18any coarseness at all.
08:20Friction needs to keep
08:21this guy in his seat,
08:22and with the smooth nature of this,
08:23there's no friction
08:24to be had at all in his cave.
08:25And again,
08:26that might be one of the reasons
08:27why he falls off his chair.
08:29Now, the other Batman
08:30also had that as well.
08:31I feel like, though,
08:31this Batman maybe
08:32even has it worse.
08:34Let's get him to stand
08:35at least for right now.
08:36Get his legs
08:37just to be completely straight.
08:38Do it on the side, too, as well.
08:41We'll just move
08:41the Mobius chair
08:42to the side for right now, too.
08:43And we'll bring in
08:44the previous Batman
08:45so you guys can see
08:46the difference.
08:48Now, I know,
08:49if you were just to look
08:49at the two,
08:50the only obvious choice
08:51of the things
08:52that are different
08:52between the two
08:53is the fact that
08:53he views now
08:54translucent blue plastic.
08:56And boy,
08:56does that ever look nice.
08:57The original Batman
08:58never had that, though,
08:59but what this Batman
09:00now also sports, too,
09:01is a screaming face.
09:02What is he screaming at?
09:03Maybe he's screaming
09:04for a Pizza Hut.
09:05There's not one nearby.
09:06If you're sitting
09:07in the Mobius chair,
09:07I'm sure you have
09:08the knowledge to know
09:09where there's a Pizza Hut nearby.
09:11The screaming face, though,
09:12is completely different
09:13from the new Batman,
09:14the original Batman
09:14that we looked at.
09:16Whereas I still feel
09:16like this is the same Batman.
09:18Where's the other one?
09:19There's the year one Batman.
09:21I'm still,
09:22the verdict's not out,
09:23but I'm convinced, though,
09:23it's the same head sculpt
09:24as this one.
09:25It's just, though,
09:26the paint that makes
09:27one look so different
09:28from the other.
09:29I would never make
09:30that argument, though,
09:31about this one.
09:31I mean, this clearly
09:32has a completely different face.
09:33The screaming face, I think,
09:34does add a little bit
09:35of extra pizzazz.
09:37I mean, if you're going
09:37to go to the extreme
09:38of giving this guy
09:39a translucent blue plastic,
09:40why not go even further,
09:41one step further,
09:42and give the guy
09:43the screaming face?
09:44The blue teeth,
09:45the blue tongue,
09:45all things that normally
09:46would not make sense
09:47for a human being
09:48unless they were eating
09:49like a blue frosty,
09:50like a blue icy.
09:51Then you'd have a blue mouth
09:52and blue teeth.
09:53The blue does work well now
09:54for the glowing blue eyes
09:55that he has.
09:56These lines still are there
09:57from the previous Batman.
09:59Although I'm looking at the two,
10:00they look like
10:01they're glowing a lot more.
10:03This does not seem
10:04to be the case,
10:04doesn't it?
10:05The utility belt,
10:06or I should say
10:07the symbol there
10:08on the front
10:08does seem like it also
10:10projects a much brighter beam.
10:12Everything around him,
10:12though, panel lined wise,
10:14has a much lighter
10:15kind of airbrushing blue
10:16outlining everything.
10:17So it does seem like
10:18he's certainly a lot brighter.
10:20Now, the blue plastic
10:20is, though, one thing.
10:22I was kind of worried,
10:23you know,
10:23generally blue plastic
10:24or just generally plastic
10:25that's clear in general.
10:26I mean, like,
10:27you usually look at things
10:28like this and you think to yourself,
10:29oh, is this something
10:29that's going to snap?
10:30And I think one of the reasons
10:31why they chose to give
10:32these guys opaque plastic
10:34in the elbow joints
10:34and in the knee joints
10:35is for that reason
10:36that you don't have
10:37to worry as much.
10:38It does, though,
10:39cosmetically make it
10:40look a little bit different
10:41than all the plastics
10:41around it.
10:42But, though, at least,
10:44just get that leg to be straight,
10:45at least, though,
10:46ensures that the plastic
10:47isn't going to crack over time.
10:49I don't think that
10:50that's going to be
10:50the case at all.
10:51The gauntlets, though,
10:52again, are exactly
10:53the same as the previous Batman.
10:54Capes, though,
10:55are different.
10:55I mean, obviously,
10:56one does have a black cape
10:57now, one has a blue cape.
10:58It's that kind of blue,
10:59though, that reminds me
11:00of the 66 Adam West Batman.
11:02Although, with his back cape,
11:04it actually draped
11:04a little too long
11:05for my liking.
11:06I think this is
11:07just the right length.
11:08And actually,
11:09even if you just fan this out,
11:10because, again,
11:10he does have the wire
11:11built into the sides,
11:13Batman's wingspan,
11:15capespan, I suppose,
11:16is pretty wide.
11:17I mean, like,
11:18if you look at it
11:18from the front,
11:19you may not probably
11:20have this displayed
11:21on your shelf
11:21with a wingspan this wide,
11:23but still,
11:24it's a neat-looking Batman,
11:25and I love the cape
11:26that they've given him.
11:27Again, like all the rest
11:28of the plastic,
11:29I mean, all the body build
11:29is exactly the same.
11:31The only thing it really does,
11:32one thing to market
11:33this figure is just
11:34the fact, again,
11:34he's got the translucent
11:35blue plastic,
11:36new face,
11:37and a blue cape then
11:38instead of the black
11:38before.
11:39The articulation of this guy
11:40is going to remain
11:41also the same, too.
11:42Now, the head's going
11:42to be on balls, right?
11:43So, first of all,
11:44it does rotate the head
11:45all the way around.
11:47It does move down.
11:48It does move up.
11:48Also, with a little bit
11:49of help from this guy
11:50behind the camera,
11:51he doesn't have anything
11:52at the base of the neck.
11:53I don't really necessarily
11:54feel like he has to have it either.
11:56The cape kind of
11:56is all one piece anyways.
11:58So, the way that the neck
11:59goes down,
11:59it goes right into
12:00the top of the cowl,
12:01or like right where the cowl
12:02attached the rest of the cape,
12:03and then it basically
12:04just tucked the cape
12:05underneath the cowl.
12:07The top of the torso
12:08is going to be
12:08in a bulge, right?
12:09I did notice, though,
12:09with this figure,
12:10it's a little tighter
12:11than the previous Batman.
12:12I don't know if it is
12:13just because they've added
12:14so much more paint here,
12:16but I noticed, though,
12:16the joint on the torso
12:17is a little stiffer to move.
12:20The base of the abdomen
12:21is pretty much the same, too.
12:22Really, really tight
12:23and hard to move.
12:24The arms rotate.
12:25No issues there at all.
12:26You can also move the arms out
12:28at 90 degrees or a T-pose.
12:31Batman does have...
12:32Why do I always end up
12:32leaving one arm down?
12:34Leave an arm up.
12:35Let's bring it back down.
12:36He has a swivel there
12:36at the bicep.
12:37Double hinge on the elbow
12:38at his possession,
12:39and his hands do rotate
12:40all the way around.
12:42For his legs,
12:43Batman does have
12:43ratcheted joints.
12:45Again, they're using
12:45more of the opaque
12:46blue plastic.
12:47Do we have to spend
12:48so much time
12:48looking at his back groin?
12:50Okay, we won't.
12:52The legs go forward.
12:52Yes, they do.
12:53They also go back.
12:54There's a swivel there
12:55at the top of the thigh,
12:56and quite the generous one, too.
12:57There's a double hinge
12:58on the knee,
12:59and there's no articulation
13:01down below here
13:01for the boot.
13:02And the boot,
13:02even though it does
13:03almost look like
13:04it's more dark black plastic,
13:06to compare it, though,
13:06with the original
13:07Mobius chair Batman,
13:08you can still see
13:09that they're using
13:10the opaque blue plastic,
13:12and then they're just
13:12painted over top of it.
13:14The same, though,
13:14for the boots.
13:15You can actually even see
13:15the way, though,
13:16that the end of the sole,
13:18see where it's...
13:18Yeah, right there.
13:19You can see that
13:20they're still using
13:21clear blue plastic.
13:22They just have only
13:23painted over top of it.
13:24It's kind of neat
13:25looking Batman.
13:25I mean, like,
13:26if you like the
13:27Mobius chair Batman,
13:28which, again,
13:29was the one that we've
13:30looked at earlier last
13:31week, which happened
13:31to be, again,
13:32this figure right here,
13:32I really like that
13:33Batman anyways.
13:34It was making use of
13:35a decent-looking
13:36Batman mold.
13:37Just move the Mobius
13:38chair out of the way.
13:39It was using the
13:39decent mold of the
13:40year one Batman,
13:41and then they just
13:42redecoed some of the
13:44aspects to it.
13:45Of course,
13:45some additional tooling
13:46had to go there as well.
13:47They did the same,
13:48though, for the gauntlet.
13:49They did that for
13:49utility belt.
13:50But in the end,
13:51though, it was really
13:51more so a closer
13:53resemblance to the year
13:54one Batman than the one
13:55that we get in the
13:55middle.
13:56The one in the middle
13:56not only is doing
13:57now things, though,
13:58in a translucent blue
13:59plastic, incorporating
14:00now a blue cape, and
14:01also incorporating
14:02screaming face.
14:04Again, I feel like if
14:05you're going to go
14:06crazy with a Mobius
14:07chair Batman, go all
14:08crazy, 100% full tilt
14:10crazy.
14:11If you're going to
14:11give him a Mobius
14:12chair, why not do him
14:13also in all blue clear
14:14plastic?
14:15It really does make
14:16this figure more
14:17godlike, which I think
14:19in the end, really,
14:19Batman should be.
14:20I mean, yeah, it's
14:21fine to add just the
14:22panel lining, though, and
14:23give him the, obviously,
14:24the Batman symbol just
14:25sort of looking like
14:26it's glowing, but I
14:27really like that this
14:27with this one, they
14:29also added some
14:29additional light blue
14:30airbrushing around
14:31those lines, so it
14:32does actually look
14:32like Batman's
14:34pulsating a bit.
14:36All in all, it's
14:36just a fun figure.
14:38Whether you are
14:38invested in getting
14:39these platinum
14:40editions or variations
14:41to the original
14:41figures or not, if you
14:43do get the chance and
14:44you do find yourself
14:45picking this one up, I
14:46think you're going to
14:46have a fun figure to
14:47have on the shelf.
14:48The only thing about
14:48that, though, is having
14:49him on the shelf, you're
14:50not going to probably
14:51fare as well to get
14:52him in his chair, because
14:53like with this Batman,
14:54even maybe even worse
14:55for this one, he has
14:57the hardest of times
14:58sitting still in his
14:58seat.
14:59I can't tell whether
14:59his anguish that
15:00Bruce is facing right
15:01now has more to do
15:01with all the knowledge
15:02that he's got now in
15:03his noggin, or if he's
15:03just suffering by the
15:04fact he can't still sit
15:05in his seat.
15:07Speaking of the seat
15:07and the chair that he
15:08comes included with,
15:09yes, I did remember to
15:10swap back the disc.
15:11It was easy to match
15:12things up anyways.
15:13The glitter in the disc
15:14matches the glitter in
15:15the chair.
15:15There's things that I
15:16like about the original
15:17Mobius chair over this
15:18one and vice versa.
15:19The original Mobius chair
15:20did benefit from having
15:21some additional silver, so it
15:22just didn't look like it
15:23was all molded in black
15:24plastic.
15:24This one, however, does
15:26benefit from having
15:27pixie dust, like the
15:28employees sprinkle on
15:29their pizzas at Pizza
15:29Hut.
15:30What is exactly in
15:31pixie dust?
15:32You know, just recently,
15:33I shouldn't say just
15:34recently, I've been kind
15:35of hooked on watching
15:36training videos, retail
15:38training videos, fast food
15:39ones especially, Wendy's
15:41Pizza Hut, and especially
15:42in Pizza Hut, they were
15:43talking about the pixie
15:43dust, but I still don't
15:44even know what's all in
15:45it.
15:45Parmesan cheese, maybe
15:47some seasonings, maybe
15:48I'm sure garlic powder.
15:49If you've ever worked
15:50though at Pizza Hut, let me
15:50know down below in the
15:51comments section what was
15:52in their pixie dust.
15:54Either way though, this
15:55Batman that we're
15:55getting here, while short
15:57of having a different
15:57head sculpt, all the
15:58body basically is the
16:00same as the previous
16:01one.
16:02I do like though that
16:03they now incorporate
16:03some blue plastic.
16:05There's very few times
16:05we've ever gotten
16:06ourselves a Caped
16:07Crusader that does
16:07actually have translucent
16:08blue plastic, and I
16:09gotta say it works well
16:10for the character.
16:11If he is going to be
16:12after all the god of
16:13knowledge, I think if
16:14anything, up the ante when
16:15it comes to the way he's
16:16been produced.
16:17The cape and the way it's
16:18been produced is exactly
16:19the same as the
16:19previous.
16:19The same accessories
16:21there apply as well.
16:22So, I mean, again, like
16:23when you're displaying this
16:24guy on the shelf, just
16:25because he is the same
16:26body as the previous
16:26Batman doesn't mean he
16:27has to be displayed the
16:28same.
16:29The one that I still had
16:30at the end of the review
16:31and the other one, where
16:32Batman is sort of sitting
16:33with one leg kind of on
16:34his chair and he had the
16:35Batarang in the other,
16:36that's actually how I had
16:37him displayed on the
16:37shelf.
16:38The way that I've got him
16:39right now for this Batman
16:40might be still the way he's
16:41going to continue to be
16:42displayed when I put this
16:44guy on the shelf after this
16:45review.
16:45A big thank you again to
16:46the folks over at
16:47McFarlane Toys, who may
16:48or may not at one point
16:49have worked at Pizza Hut,
16:50but they were kind of
16:51to, of course, provide the
16:52sample of new Platinum
16:53Edition release of Batman
16:54with the Mobius chair from
16:55the Dark Side War.
16:57What do you guys think of
16:57this figure?
16:58Let me know down below in
16:58the comment section.
16:59Between this one and the
17:00original Batman with
17:01Mobius chair, which one do
17:02you think is the better
17:03one?
17:04Or maybe there's things
17:05that you like about this
17:05one, like you like the
17:06chair better on this one,
17:07but you like the previous
17:08Batman from before?
17:09Let me know what you guys
17:10think of this down below
17:11in the comment section.
17:12If you guys also did
17:13enjoy this video, do it
17:14a solid throat like.
17:15You guys want to stick
17:16around for more so?
17:17I hope so.
17:18We're going to have some
17:18more videos.
17:19Yay!
17:19More videos coming your
17:20way for the rest of this
17:21week, so I hope you guys
17:22are going to be coming
17:22back for that.
17:23As always, thanks for
17:23watching.
17:24See you guys next time.
