00:00Mario may have beaten Bowser, but his problems may have just gotten a whole lot bigger.
00:04Here's a look at brand new Jack Specific, the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Mario.
00:17Collect your favorite characters in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie 5-inch figure series.
00:22The Mario figure is inspired by the movie and comes with premium details including realistic acrylic eyes and 22 points
00:27of articulation.
00:28Mario comes with a yellow glow-in-the-dark Luma Star accessory, all showcased in a window box.
00:33In the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Mario and his friends seem to be traveling to strange new worlds.
00:38Yet though, with Jack Specific, on our world, have been pretty familiar already with doing Nintendo figures for several years
00:44now,
00:44so I think they're pretty comfortable with the terrain.
00:46We're going to be looking though at Mario's included accessory of Luna in a second.
00:50First things first though, we're going to grab the tape measure and get things going with how tall Mario's going
00:54to stand.
00:55Sad news though, already, I can tell you, I don't have the original Super Mario movie figures.
00:59I had reviewed a whole bunch of them years ago when the movie had come out,
01:02so I'm pretty excited to stock my shelves with the Mario merch.
01:06As for how tall Mario's going to be standing, we'll start things first in inches.
01:10About four and three quarters. We'll stick with that.
01:12It's about four and three quarters of an inch in height.
01:14That's translating to a figure that's about ten and a half centimeters tall.
01:17Well, yeah, but the only Nintendo stuff I still have on my shelves is the stuff from the world of
01:22Nintendo.
01:23Obviously, still from Jack Specific.
01:24Here's what Mario looks like with Bowser, and I'm sure we're probably going to be getting a Super Mario Galaxy
01:28movie Bowser.
01:29Whether though he's going to be tiny, tiny little Bowser painting portraits of Mario,
01:34whether he's going to be full scale, we'll only know when the movie comes out.
01:37Here's a couple of other characters we can also bring in as well.
01:39A slightly more shorter Wario.
01:41Now, there's rumors though that Wario will be making an appearance in a Super Mario Galaxy movie.
01:45I don't know if that's going to be true though.
01:47We do know though, at least from what we've seen, Birdo seems to be making an appearance.
01:50I have certainly her.
01:51And here's also what he looks like with a regular Shy Guy.
01:55Mario doesn't have to work too hard to catch a falling star.
01:57He already has one right here with Luma.
01:59Luma is one of the included accessories.
02:01It seems though that little star characters be joining along with the Mario characters.
02:05Luigi certainly will be having one.
02:07I don't think Rosalina surprisingly has one, but Mario at least does get Luma.
02:11Luma doesn't have any posability at all.
02:13What Luma is continuing to do is what Luma will only ever do on your shelf.
02:17Because again, no posability at all.
02:20I do think the face is nicely done here.
02:22Now, this is apparently glow in the dark.
02:24I have to have my black light here on the ready.
02:26Just make a few passes across Luma's face here.
02:30Does it look like it's glowing?
02:32I'm sure though I could probably even cut the lights.
02:34We'll maybe do that in a second.
02:35But the black light will just shine across the front of face of Luma.
02:39I am a little disappointed though that Jax chose not to include like a little display stand.
02:44Awkwardly though, it would mean that they'd have to put like a hole on the bottom of the body here
02:47of Luma.
02:48But you know, at least if they included like a little clear acrylic stand with a post,
02:52you could have at least Luma floating rather than just sitting on the shelf.
02:56I mean, there's not really much that Luma can really do.
02:58Not really also having a flat body means that standing Luma is going to be a difficult thing to do.
03:04I'm a little disappointed though that Mario doesn't come with any other accessories.
03:07Now, he doesn't have fire power, so including like a fire flower doesn't make any sense.
03:11But had he just included like a little mushroom.
03:14Just something though that we could have chucked at Mario other than just the little star character.
03:19What he does have though, surprisingly enough, saying all those things is articulated fingers.
03:24I don't recall the original movie Mario having articulated fingers.
03:27Now, when I say articulated fingers, I mean though that all four fingers are attached to one joint.
03:32Well, I should say joints on both sides.
03:34And these pins allow the hands to move open and close.
03:36But he doesn't have any other accessory.
03:38I suppose you probably could maybe take Luma, just put it on Mario's hand like that.
03:43I mean, it balances, I suppose, okay, providing nobody's going to cough.
03:46Nobody's going to sneeze.
03:47Oh, oh.
03:48Some guy over there went to put his finger up to his nose.
03:51Don't sneeze, whatever you do, sir.
03:52Yeah, I guess you could kind of balance Luma that way.
03:55But yeah, it's kind of interesting though that the Mario figure does have articulated fingers.
03:59I would imagine though, that's probably going to be the same rule of fingers when it comes to his brother
04:03Luigi too.
04:05Head sculpt for Mario looks fantastic.
04:08Now, whether you do really like Chris Pratt as the voice though of Mario?
04:11I don't know.
04:12You know, it's grown more on me than I would say like Chris Pratt doing the voice of Garfield.
04:16I hated Garfield.
04:17And that comes from a guy that loved Garfield growing up.
04:20But I don't think he's all that bad playing the role of Mario.
04:22I think the face though for Mario, as certainly as a plastic figure, is probably one of the better ones
04:26we've gotten.
04:27Using now though acrylic eyes, it does, I will say, add a little bit of personality to the face.
04:32A little bit of life.
04:35Love that face.
04:36The hat obviously can't be removed.
04:39I would think though at one point it probably was removable.
04:41Maybe they had molded it as separate pieces.
04:43Because it does kind of feel like the hat is a little bit more of a softer plastic.
04:46But yeah, don't try to...
04:47Don't pull this off, whatever you do.
04:49You'd only see Mario bald underneath.
04:51Mustache looks painted well.
04:53Of course, those big caterpillars just above his eyes.
04:55Where are those caterpillars going?
04:57Those are nicely done also in like a very dark brown.
05:00Yeah, the head sculpt is exactly what you would expect from a movie Mario.
05:03He's a little bit better.
05:04A little bit more realistic.
05:05As strange as it is to say that.
05:07Than like the video game, World of Nintendo Super Mario.
05:10Which I do hope at some point Jack Specific decides to kind of go back to the vault and reissue
05:14some of those Mario figures.
05:15Yeah, getting them in costumes and different colors is fine and good.
05:18But a regular classic Mario.
05:20Boy, I kicked myself that I got rid of a lot of those figures a long time ago.
05:23So, obviously he does have his blue overalls here.
05:27I mean, those are nicely done.
05:28I can't help but don't notice.
05:30Yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:32His legs seem strangely loose.
05:35Strange.
05:36Seeing though I've really only had to figure out the packaging for maybe about 45 minutes.
05:40I haven't been like rigorously moving these legs around.
05:44I know I'm doing it right now.
05:45But it doesn't seem like for the amount of times that I've moved these legs, they should be as loose
05:49as they are this soon out of getting them out of the packaging.
05:53Boots are nicely done too.
05:54There's no peggles at all on the bottoms of Mario's feet.
05:57But, you know, again, I think he's really a nicely detailed, very well painted figure.
06:00I'm just a little miffed though.
06:02Unfortunately, he's loose.
06:03He shouldn't be this loose.
06:05So, again, so early after getting this guy out of his plastic prison for Mario's articulation.
06:11Articulation.
06:12I don't know why I was having such a hard time getting that all thrown out of my mouth.
06:17Mario, surprisingly, does have a ball joint.
06:19That's nice to see.
06:20So, you can move the head up and down.
06:21Not much though.
06:22I mean, that's as much mileage as you can really get from the movement.
06:25Head also moves back and forth as well.
06:27You could really as well rotate.
06:29I know that would really realistically kill Mario.
06:31But, yeah, you could rotate his head all the way around as well if you want.
06:33But, arms rotate all the way around.
06:35Yes, they do.
06:36You can take also those arms and move them out.
06:39So, on a big giant bear hug from Mario, you can pull that off.
06:43I do notice though, every time I kind of move the arms out, they seem to snap.
06:48Not the kind of snap.
06:49I guess I shouldn't really worry with a snap that makes that sound.
06:52Normally though, you hear a sound like that and you think to yourself,
06:54Oh no, am I breaking the plastic?
06:56It could just be the fact that the arm joints, more in the shoulders, are still a little tight.
07:01Which is so much more ironic because, again, like his shoulders are tight and yet his legs are not.
07:07He does have a swivel.
07:09Now, the way that they've done the swivel though, is they've actually just literally put a cut into his bicep.
07:13So, because of that, you can rotate the arm all the way around.
07:15He has a hinge joint here.
07:17And the hinge, they've sort of hidden the joint, or they've only hidden half of it.
07:21But, it's certainly though enough that you can give Mario a bend.
07:24So, he's like flexing his muscles.
07:26He's like, just look at these.
07:27Look at these guns, Bowser.
07:28You want to talk about guns?
07:30Look at these guns.
07:31But, he does have the means to kind of form a bicep.
07:35The hands do swivel.
07:36Yes, they do.
07:37On their own.
07:37There's also a hinge joint that allows all four fingers at the exact same time to clench a fist.
07:42For, again, a knuckle massage.
07:45Top of the torso, the top of the torso to you, does have a ball joint.
07:48So, you can move it up and down.
07:49Not as much moving it back and forth, but you could also give it a little bit of crunch as
07:53well.
07:54Again, really weird that the legs are so loose.
07:57Would you just stop saying loose legs?
07:59I'm sorry.
08:00That's the last time I'll mention it.
08:02Loose legs.
08:03There is, actually, by the way, ball joints that allow these legs to move forward and back.
08:07And, you can split them about as far as that.
08:10Three quarters of the way up the thigh, there's also a swivel cut.
08:12So, you can rotate the legs all the way around.
08:13You can also rotate the lower legs, too.
08:16Just a little bit.
08:18Knee bend.
08:19Knees are a little loose, too.
08:22And, then, he does also have an ankle pivot and an ankle rocker up and down.
08:26Yeah, yeah.
08:27I like the look of Mario.
08:28What would I have done?
08:29What would I have changed releasing this Mario?
08:31Let's just say I'm a CEO.
08:34CEO working over at Jack Specific.
08:36What would this guy behind the camera have done differently for the release of Mario?
08:39Well, I can tell you right away.
08:40I would have probably included an accessory.
08:42I know, again, like all these things I'm about to say would clearly have jacked the price up.
08:46Ah, Jacks.
08:48Jacks the price up.
08:48I would have certainly included also a display stand for Luna.
08:52Luma, I feel, really should have had a display stand just so that you could have actually
08:56propped the character up and not just have Luma rolling around.
09:00Maybe include it like a flower or some sort of accessory.
09:03Just, again, like just to remind everybody what world Mario comes from.
09:06Whether he's exploring new galaxies in the movie or not.
09:09Some more familiar accessory accessories.
09:12Galaxy accessories would be certainly a well-welcomed treat.
09:15But, again, I have to also look at the price point on these.
09:17These are mostly showing up online or in stores for, I think, like $27 to $28.
09:23I say that as Canadian, you know, so you're probably going to be paying a little bit less than that
09:26as a U.S. collector.
09:28So, you know, they're not the most expensive things.
09:30They're a fairly reasonable pickup.
09:32Whether you're leading up to get the excitement going for wanting to see the movie or you've now just seen
09:37the movie.
09:37You've gone back to watch this older review because now this review is probably like, what, a month old?
09:42Maybe two months old?
09:43Well, you've gone back and you looked at it again and said, oh, you know, hey, buddy, I totally agree
09:46with you.
09:46But, you know, either way, though, it's fun that we finally have ourselves some brand new Mario merch on the
09:51shelf.
09:51I know, like, Jax is always churning out.
09:54Churning out new stuff.
09:55New stuff that you can find on the pegs.
09:56But generally now it's always just like, you know, Mario's in a colored suit.
10:00Or Mario's as a cat.
10:01Or Luigi's in a bluish frozen flower suit.
10:04Which is fine and good.
10:05But I hope that at some point we're going to be getting ourselves some original World of Nintendo Mario and
10:09Luigi.
10:09Just a classic original look to the characters.
10:11But right now, though, I'm really liking the look of the movie.
10:13And I'm super excited for the movie to come out.
10:15I think sometime in April.
10:17I might as well make use of Mario's articulated fingers.
10:19And wrap up the review with him holding Luma in his hand.
10:22He doesn't hold it all that well.
10:24I mean, Luma's literally just kind of bouncing against his thumb.
10:27And surprisingly of all things, Mario's nose.
10:29So I hope that Mario doesn't sneeze either.
10:31The colors, though, for Mario are what you would expect Mario to have.
10:34Red for this shirt.
10:35And, of course, the blue overalls.
10:36And then, of course, he's also got his red hat.
10:38He fits as well.
10:39Like, the design of Mario hasn't changed all that much.
10:42They make him a little bit more realistic.
10:43It's actually funny, though, that the front of the packaging, though, for the Super Mario Galaxy characters,
10:48have Mario kind of looking like he's obese.
10:50Like he's put on a few extra pounds.
10:52With all those extra mushrooms he's downing, that probably could be contributing to the extra weight gain that he has.
10:57And yet, though, he's a leaner-looking Mario when you get him out of his plastic prison.
11:01I wish, though, that with the prison getting out of it, he could have also come include some other accessories.
11:06I mean, yeah, Star is fine and good.
11:07But I don't think, surprisingly, unless she's hidden inside the package along with Rosalina.
11:12I don't think Rosalina comes included with anything other than just her wand.
11:16And, by the way, though, BTW, speaking of Rosalina, we will also be looking at all the rest of this
11:22Wave 1 figures from the Super Mario Galaxy movie.
11:25By the way, though, I did also get these online from the Facebook selling group.
11:28And from, yeah, you probably could already guess it, Popeye the Toy Man.
11:32Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
11:34Thanks to Popeye hooking this guy up.
11:37We're, in fact, going to be looking all this week at the Super Mario Galaxy movie figures.
11:41First, are you guys excited for the Super Mario Galaxy?
11:44Yes, no, maybe so.
11:45Are you also excited to start picking up the Super Mario Galaxy movie figures from Jax?
11:49Yes, no, maybe, maybe so.
11:52Hopefully, though, one of the things that you can all agree on, if you guys have enjoyed this video, you
11:56can do it a solemn throw to like.
11:57You guys want to stick around for more so?
11:59I hope so.
12:00I have already given it away.
12:01Let the cat out of the bag.
12:03Meow!
12:04That, yes, this week we will be looking at all the first Wave of Super Mario Galaxy movie.
12:08If you like Mario, you'll be in store for, hopefully, good reviews.
12:12If you guys don't like Mario and could care less, you grew up with Sonic, I just hate Mario with
12:16a passion?
12:17Okay, maybe this week isn't going to be right up your alley.
12:19But, certainly, though, there's going to be more content coming your way, as always.
12:22Thanks for watching.
12:23See you guys next time.
