00:00I don't really know what he's packing, but I usually know who he's carrying.
00:03Here's a look at New Jack's Specific, the Super Mario Galaxy movie, Yoshi.
00:18What are your favorite characters in the Super Mario Galaxy movie 5-inch figure series?
00:22The Yoshi figure is inspired by the movie and comes with premium details, including 20 points of articulation.
00:27Yoshi comes with New York City ball caps, sunglasses, and travel pack, all showcased in window box.
00:34Mario hitches a ride on Yoshi.
00:35Yoshi hitches a ride in the Wave 1 figures from the New Super Mario Galaxy.
00:39Before we get a closer look at the accessories that he has, let's take the tape measure and see how
00:43tall the figure's going to stand.
00:45If the tape measure is telling me anything, right now it's not.
00:48It would normally have told me, though, that the figure's going to stand at 5 inches in height, or 13
00:53centimeters tall.
00:54We've waited to travel to distant galaxies.
00:56We've managed, though, to look at 4 other figures so far from the Super Mario Galaxy movie.
01:00I'm not sure really why Mario's doing the splits here.
01:03But here's what Yoshi looks like, though, with Mario.
01:05Let's also bring in Luigi.
01:07Over here, we also looked at Rosalina.
01:09And as of late, we've also looked at Bowser Jr.
01:12If the movie's not out just yet, we can only speculate by some of the accessories that come in clear
01:16with Yoshi.
01:16The biggest one, kind of being the puzzling one, is the figure does come in clear with a New York
01:20City ball cap.
01:22It's molded here, though, in all purple plastic with a little bit of silver painted on the back.
01:26But the fact that it does actually have New York City and the Big Apple makes me wonder, though, if
01:31Yoshi goes under in disguise and actually goes to the real world.
01:35I can't tell my own personal expectations of that, because that would certainly be a fish out of the water,
01:40or in this case, a dino out of the Mushroom Kingdom.
01:43The hat, unfortunately, does fit on his head.
01:45It's an unfortunate thing.
01:47But by having to put it on his head, you really feel, though, that you have to force it down
01:51there.
01:53Why are we not doing that?
01:54Well, I'll get to that in a second.
01:55The figure does also come in clear with his travel pack, leading me, again, to believe that Yoshi's going to
01:59be going on some sort of journey.
02:01Pack looks good, though.
02:02A little bit of silver there on the side for the zipper and, of course, the handle.
02:06The handle has to bend, unfortunately, one way.
02:08It doesn't fit over top of his head, because the head's just way too big.
02:12He can hold it, but, again, he has to rely on these clothes, like these articulated fingers.
02:18What is it from The Simpsons?
02:20The sound of one man clapping?
02:22I think Bart was doing it.
02:24It's like, come on, listen, you know, obviously.
02:26But the fact that they actually have articulated fingers, though, on Yoshi,
02:29it just makes things even harder for him to hold the travel pack.
02:32Like I said, though, you can't fit it over top of his head.
02:34There's no way of doing that.
02:36You can't really even fit it on his shoulders, either.
02:38I suppose if there was a way, you probably could pop the head off the ball joint
02:41and then just kind of fit that over top of the neck.
02:43But am I going to even do all that?
02:45When in the end, though, this is an accessory I'm never going to display with the figure.
02:49Here's, though, what I'm talking about, because, again,
02:50the figure does have articulation on three fingers.
02:53Instead of the four before with Mario, you kind of have to take the pack
02:58and just pinch it as best you can to have him holding it.
03:02But he doesn't hold it well at all.
03:04I kind of even feel the same way that I said for Bowser Jr.
03:07In characters like this, either just rest it or give him a permanently C-gripped hand
03:12so he's never going to have a worry of holding it.
03:14He also has a hard time to hold his sunglasses.
03:17Now, the sunglasses also could, in theory, be put in his hand.
03:20And so if you want to have him just kind of gripping the sunglasses, he can do that, too.
03:23Not well, though.
03:24If you wanted to put it over top of his head, though, every time you try to do this,
03:29it ends up just forcing the glasses off his face.
03:31It's almost like they have to stretch so far that it ends up just flinging them,
03:36flinging them across the room.
03:37And maybe that's exaggeration, but he doesn't really hold the glasses all that well.
03:41I find, to kind of get the completed look down, take the ball cap first.
03:47And why I said that's unfortunate is by how much stress it is to actually force the cap
03:53over top of his head.
03:54I feel like what I'm only really doing is scraping the plastic or the paint.
03:59Again, this isn't going to be a look I'm going to settle with.
04:01Could it really go the opposite way?
04:03I suppose it could, but it's only really going to be covering over his face.
04:06You could also just rest it there, too.
04:07But really, though, if you want to have it securely attached, you really have to put
04:11pressure down on the ball cap and it stays there.
04:14And then from there, you can go ahead and just take the glasses, just sort of get the
04:18glasses underneath, underneath the rim of the hat.
04:20I probably didn't need to bring it as far down, though, as I did.
04:23Just kind of put the glasses in there.
04:27This takes so much more time than I was hoping.
04:29And then just sort of put that cap down.
04:32You can see sort of the cap kind of keeps the glasses in place, prevents them from falling
04:36off his face.
04:38Is this a look that anyone's really going to be going with?
04:40Am I amusing everybody right now with the struggle of me just trying to put accessories on him
04:44that I know very well after this review?
04:46I'm going to 86 these.
04:48They could probably go into a bag with all the other things that I'm not currently displaying
04:51with any of these Mario movie figures.
04:53But again, they're there.
04:54And again, only more speculation as to why they are there.
04:57Yoshi looks good.
04:58I mean, I really like the look of Yoshi.
05:00I'm sure probably one of the questions you guys are asking right now is, why were you struggling
05:04so much with the glasses?
05:04No, no, no.
05:06I'm sure one question you may be asking is, can Mario mount?
05:10Stop that.
05:11Can Mario, in fact, mount Yoshi?
05:13You can if you bend his knees.
05:15You bend his knees and you take Yoshi and sort of just lean him forward just a little bit.
05:19You can, in fact, take Mario and put him on top of Yoshi.
05:23Well, not really well.
05:25But he holds it well enough that you can actually have him riding the top of the dinosaur.
05:30If that, again, is the look that you want to go with.
05:33One maybe reason why I would maybe not do that moving forward is I think it's probably going
05:38to start to add stress, though, to his ankles and especially to his knees.
05:41I mean, again, like I'm sure Yoshi doesn't mind.
05:43I mind a lot.
05:44I'm sure, though, Yoshi doesn't really mind having the plumber on the back of his body.
05:48But again, like I think it's only just going to be adding stress to the poor dino's ankles.
05:53These feet, by the way, I did notice getting out of the packaging were a little loose.
05:58Not loose just yet, but I'm sure they will get more increasingly loose the longer that
06:03poor Mario is sitting on top of this dino's back.
06:06Let's put Mario off to the side here.
06:08One thing I really like, though, about Yoshi is they went in there and generally a smooth
06:12surf surfaced character now actually gets a little bit of texturing.
06:16At one point, I did have a couple of Yoshis.
06:18This is one thing that Jax really ran the gambit with because Yoshi has had different
06:22colors in the games, like Yoshi's Story, for example, gave him really a good opportunity
06:26to make use of this mold and release countless different colored versions of Yoshi.
06:30I think at one point I may have even had a pink and a blue one.
06:33I don't know if I ever really owned an original green.
06:35I feel like maybe I did as well, but this one does have certainly a lot more texturing to
06:39the front of his face and really all across his body.
06:42Here's one issue I have with Yoshi.
06:44He had an issue with Yoshi.
06:45If you look at the side of the packaging, why I draw your attention to this is look
06:50how much green is on the shoulders of Yoshi.
06:53It's a fair bit, isn't there?
06:55When you get the actual figure, and I can only really base it from the one that I'm looking
06:58at right now, I feel like there's way too much white right here.
07:03I feel like maybe he should have only really had the white right around here and still kept
07:07more green shoulders because in the back of this or the side of the packaging, he has
07:11that he has green very visibly here.
07:13Unfortunately, though, maybe on mine, I just have too much white.
07:16I think it ruins some of the look for Yoshi.
07:18I would have liked if there was a little bit more green face.
07:21The eyes look good, though.
07:22Again, he's got like more of the acrylic eyes.
07:25So he's got that kind of lens that goes over top of it.
07:27Gives just a little bit of sheen.
07:28Gives a little bit of personality.
07:30Really like the look of that.
07:31Of course, he does have spikes on the back of his body.
07:33The little kind of shell that he has for his saddle.
07:36And of course, he does have a little footwear, too.
07:38Now, the feet, I've noticed, do have articulation.
07:41But again, like in this guy, the packaging, he hasn't really been out.
07:44He hasn't had long, long, really, to breathe.
07:46Maybe like a half hour, 40 minutes.
07:48I generally like to kind of open the figures out at the beginning of the review.
07:51Spend a little bit of time playing around with them.
07:53Things that I want to kind of spend the time to talk about are things, the things we end up
07:57talking about in these reviews.
07:58But over that time, though, I've noticed that he's started to develop really loose knees
08:02and like in the ankles.
08:04More like in the knees.
08:05So again, I probably won't have plans to display him with Mario on his back.
08:09What I have, though, plans for doing is showing you guys the articulation on Yoshi.
08:13So head's going to be on a ball joint.
08:14Allows the head to move up and down and also back and forth as well.
08:18Head technically, too, can also rotate all the way around.
08:20I don't know how well that would be causing for the longevity of the dinosaur.
08:23But you can do it certainly, though, on the plastic toy of him.
08:26Arms rotate all the way around.
08:27You can also hinge them out at a 90-degree angle bend.
08:31He does also have a swivel here in the elbow.
08:34Now, that swivel also serves as well to give you a hinge.
08:37So that hinge gives the Yoshi dinosaur a chance to also bend his arm, his elbow.
08:42Hands also rotate all the way around.
08:43You can hinge them back and forth.
08:45Still feel, again, it's unnecessary that they decide to give him articulation in the fingers.
08:48I know, again, it's a chance for them to say on the back of the packaging,
08:51hey, this guy's got 20 points of articulation.
08:53Even if they decided, though, just to give him gripping hands, I mean, that's still 18 points.
08:59That's not bad at all.
09:00And I think by giving him also 18 points would also mean he'd have a better chance,
09:05a luckier chance of holding his saddlebag in his hands.
09:08He's got no waist articulation.
09:09I mean, he's essentially just all one body, but his legs do rotate all the way around.
09:13You can hinge them out, about that far of a split for Yoshi.
09:16He does also have a bend in his knee, which I've noticed, again, is a little loose.
09:20His feet are also separate, so you can rotate those all the way around if you wanted to.
09:24They move up and down.
09:26They also rock back and forth.
09:28They have, smartly, though, left enough of a clearance,
09:30so it gives you at least something to work with when it comes to bending his ankles up and down.
09:35All in all, it's a really nice-looking Yoshi.
09:36I really like the look of this one.
09:38Now, there's also a whole bunch of other things that they've got planned for Yoshi,
09:41the big one really being that Jax is also doing that hatching Yoshi,
09:45where essentially he's in an egg, and then the egg is going to rattle and crack and stuff like that.
09:50I don't think you can salvage the egg.
09:51I think that's one of the big things, though, about the egg,
09:53is that you can't put the pieces back together.
09:55The first time Yoshi breaks out of the shell is the one and only time you're going to be able
09:59to do that.
10:00But underneath, though, there's going to be lights and sounds.
10:02It's going to do all the interactive stuff, so I'm sure the kids are going to love that.
10:05Or the adults my age are also going to really like that as well.
10:09Once again, though, bringing back in the plumber.
10:11Here's what he looks like with the movie Mario.
10:14Mario again, getting a little loose, getting a little loose in the ankles,
10:17or getting a little loose in the knees.
10:20There we go.
10:21Bring in also Luigi.
10:23There's Rosalina.
10:24Rosalina's right over here.
10:25And also Bowser Jr.
10:28Pricing for Yoshi, I think he's a little bit more expensive than the Mario, the Luigi, and Rosalina.
10:33I think he's about the same price as Wonder Bowser Jr.
10:37It's kind of really hard for me to say that because I, again,
10:39bought the entire set of these off Popeye the Toyman on the Facebook selling group.
10:42Again, I'm glad that I did because I got myself out of that really fun-looking Yoshi.
10:46Whether you, again, want to have Mario on the back of Yoshi is entirely up to you.
10:51Whether you want to have him travel, apparently, New York City,
10:53which, again, speculation only, whether that's the reasoning.
10:56It could also just be that Mario really liked that hat.
10:59He brought it to the Mushroom Kingdom, and he says,
11:00Hey, Yoshi!
11:01And he throws the hat to Yoshi and just happens to land on his head.
11:04The end.
11:05But I'm sure that there's probably very little reasons why he probably has the ball cap.
11:09I'm just speculating, though.
11:10Maybe he goes to the real world,
11:11and then everybody just doesn't see really the fact he's just a green dinosaur.
11:15They're all just sort of suspecting the fact that he's just a normal New Yorker
11:18walking around the city streets with a green skin and a big giant nose.
11:22I hope at the very least this review has been able to answer two age-old questions.
11:25The first one being the single-hand clapping.
11:28Can't really hear that right now.
11:29But I'm sure the more important thing.
11:31Can, in fact, Yoshi carry around Mario?
11:35It's debatable.
11:35I mean, you can kind of see for yourself.
11:37He's just barely doing it.
11:39Not to mention, too, that that's also adding a stress.
11:41Not just to the toy, but also to the character.
11:44You've got to think that Yoshi's not just enjoying the fact that every once in a while,
11:47this plumber's just hopping on the back of his body and expecting him to carry him around.
11:51Not to mention, too, we can't overlook the fact that a lot of times
11:54Mario is also using Yoshi as the means to get over a big giant pit
11:57at the sake of sacrificing poor Yoshi.
12:01But also, too, if you're looking at the figure here,
12:03this is also adding stress to the tops of his legs and also specifically to his ankles.
12:08Can you do it?
12:09Yes.
12:09Should you do it?
12:11It's entirely up to you.
12:12I'm choosing, though, not to do this.
12:14So after this review's wrapped up, Yoshi's going to be standing tall on his own
12:18without this blasted plumber being on the back of him.
12:20But what do you guys think of Yoshi?
12:21Let me know down below in the comment section.
12:23I don't know.
12:24Again, like, I think the accessories will make a lot more sense once the movie has come out.
12:28Right now, I'm sort of muddled as to why they included the ball cap,
12:31the glasses, and the travel pack.
12:33Maybe this plays this significant role in this movie that we just aren't aware of.
12:37And I'm sure by now.
12:38Months later, somebody will come back to this video and they'll say,
12:41Hey, dude, didn't you know that Yoshi goes undercover?
12:44He goes to the government disguised as a human, apparently with just a ball cap and glasses.
12:48And he gets secret, top secret information that will save the Mushroom Kingdom.
12:53How did you not know this?
12:54I didn't know this, first of all, because the movie hasn't come out yet.
12:56Stop that.
12:58Time jumper.
12:59But what do you guys think of Yoshi?
13:00Let me know down below in the comment section.
13:01Where would you guys rank, by the way, Yoshi, when it comes to all the other Mario figures
13:05that we've looked at so far?
13:06And there's still one, by the way, to come.
13:08We're going to be looking at, coming up soon, The Wonder Bowser Jr.
13:11Looking forward to getting that guy out of his plastic prison.
13:14But what do you guys think of Yoshi?
13:15Let me know.
13:15Let me also know down below what you guys thought of this review.
13:18You can also do it to solo by throwing it a like.
13:20You guys want to stick around for more so?
13:22I certainly hope so.
13:23There's going to be more content always coming your way.
13:25So I hope you guys are going to be coming back.
13:26Checking back on that for all the stuff that's going to be coming your way.
13:29As always, thanks for watching.
13:31See you guys next time.
13:32See you guys next time.
