00:08 official Ghostbusters 3D desk lamp.

00:40 If you guys are interested and would like to get your hands on the Ghostbusters
00:43 illuminated sign, I did actually get this one over at Just Geek. And perfect time
00:47 as well with the new Ghostbusters film in theaters right now that the
00:50 Ghostbusters sign was actually marked down by 30%. It wasn't the price that I
00:54 paid for it but if you guys are interested right now I think it's around
00:56 $22. We'll kind of talk about the positives and the negatives of this sign
01:01 but again if you guys are interested you can click the link down below in the
01:03 video description. In case you guys are also curious as to how big this is, it's
01:07 somewhat of a perfect square other than the things that are hanging off the sides.
01:11 I'm gonna grab the tape measure and it is in fact seven and a half inches in
01:15 height or it's about what 19 centimeters tall. I would imagine that wouldn't be
01:20 changing anytime soon. Yeah it's about seven and a half inches wide and about
01:23 the same in centimeters too. The Ghostbusters sign can need to be powered
01:26 by three AA batteries or as well you can use yourself a micro USB cable.
01:31 Unfortunately though the batteries and the cable are not provided with the sign
01:34 so it's pretty bare-bones when you get it out of the packaging. There's nothing
01:38 additionally I can show you. There's not even instructions either but it's pretty
01:41 straightforward. The sign can also be either displayed on your desk if you
01:45 want to have it displayed that way or you can also hang it from your wall. If
01:48 you look at the back of the sign in fact there's actually two hanging hooks here
01:52 and these are the essentially just hang on to nails or really thumbtacks too. I
01:56 would imagine this isn't super heavy that it should be able to be sustainable
02:00 to hold this by also thumbtacks. Down below here as well is the battery
02:04 compartment. I haven't yet installed the batteries but of course you'll need three
02:08 1.5 volt or three AA batteries to plug those onto the back. Probably if you're
02:13 gonna be hanging this on the wall and you really don't want a dangling cable
02:16 down below, the three AA batteries probably are your best bet. You're
02:21 just gonna have to go from time to time back and periodically change them.
02:24 There's also these little supports on the back. I'm not even
02:29 sure really what they're there for. I mean maybe it's just to kind of give a
02:32 little bit of relief. So obviously if this is gonna be sticking a little bit
02:35 further out from the wall it just allows then those hooks to hang them properly
02:39 on nails or thumbtacks. Funny though that it's disappointing that they have
02:43 them on the back but they didn't decide to have them on the side. You're probably
02:47 thinking the same thing I was thinking. Maybe not on the side that actually has
02:50 the switch. This is the part that's gonna turn on and off the lamp but at the very
02:54 least if they had have it hanging on the side maybe probably this probably would
02:57 have been the better side because you could have then hang - you probably see
03:00 where I'm going with this - you probably could have hung this sticking out from
03:03 your wall as you would see on the actual firehouse where the sign would be
03:07 actually sticking out like this way as opposed to hanging on the wall this way.
03:10 Does that make sense? I would rather like - I mean obviously the only unfortunate
03:14 thing is on the back it's just basic black plastic so you're really only
03:17 getting the one effect of the Ghostbusters no ghost sign by only
03:21 looking at really on one side but yeah you know it's a little bit of a bummer
03:24 that unfortunately they didn't have hanging hooks on the side and obviously
03:27 you'd probably only be able then see the inside cavity but still this should have
03:31 been something that you could have hung from the wall this way. Like I said, on
03:35 the bottom here it does also have a port here that you can take yourself a micro
03:39 USB and that just plugs onto the bottom. We're not yet into the USB-C
03:44 days when it comes to actually just when it comes to plugging these ones in
03:47 so they're still using micro USBs which is fine but like I said I do have myself
03:51 a cable I'm gonna plug that in a second. The only other thing that to mention is
03:55 obviously there's a little switch there on the side that's gonna turn that off
03:57 and on. I will say though like the button seems - I mean it's one of those things
04:02 that you depress it and it will always stay on and then to press it again will
04:06 be the thing that turns it off but it feels like the button is kind of a
04:10 little on the more flimsier side. It kind of has a little bit of a wiggle to it.
04:13 I'm gonna turn that off for right now. Obviously there's nothing plugged
04:17 into this just yet. I'm gonna plug it in and in a second also as well I'm gonna
04:20 turn off the lights because I will say like when you have everything else
04:24 around you on you really can't quite make out the light. The light - the bulb
04:27 that they put inside is pretty pretty weak and I would imagine it's probably
04:30 quite small as well but you got the no-go symbol there on the front. It looks
04:34 good. There is one area here and I would have to go back. I didn't realize that
04:38 this part of the finger actually gets cut in like this but I guess it's
04:41 supposed to be like that. It just looks a little strange that this section of the
04:44 no-go symbol actually is cut into the finger like that. They have unfortunately
04:49 also left off one section of paint. While very successfully painting everything
04:53 else very cleanly, they left off one section right here and it's the
04:57 thing I keep looking back on because it is pretty much perfect other than that
05:01 one section right there is the only area that didn't get this treatment of
05:05 red paint. The paint actually itself - I would imagine this probably all be
05:08 molded in like red plastic - does actually look a little bit more orange-ish than
05:14 it does red. The actual ghost on the front is nicely done here. It's got a
05:18 little Pac-Man eyes, a little nose. This is all by the way raised too. It's not a
05:22 completely flat surface. I like that they actually gave some contouring to this so
05:26 it has a three-dimensional look as opposed to just having the ghost be
05:29 completely flat like this. It's pretty light though. There's not really any
05:34 weight at all to this and you can really kind of feel like I don't want to say
05:38 like there's a cheapness to it but there's definitely like more of a
05:40 hollowness to it. Now I'm gonna just reach off to the side here. I just happen
05:44 to have myself a micro USB cable. I've got it already plugged in, don't worry,
05:48 and we're just gonna plug it on to the bottom. The thing about micro USBs and
05:52 even like the USB cables before that is when you're plugging them in, it
05:56 always feels like you're gonna be bending the prong inside. This just
05:59 basically fits in if I can get this facing the right way. There we go and
06:05 then this will be the of course the thing that's hanging out. Now if you have
06:08 this say on your desk, I don't think it's so much gonna be so much of a problem. I
06:12 guess it even isn't a problem if you're gonna be hanging this from the wall.
06:14 You're just gonna have like an excess cable hanging down. Unfortunately with
06:17 having cats though, my cats would be probably the type to be swatting back
06:21 and forth trying to knock this out. So maybe it'd be a good idea if you're
06:24 looking to get this and have this hanging on the wall and you have pets, it
06:27 probably would be a better idea I would imagine by powering this with
06:30 the AA batteries rather than actually using the cable. Now I will say
06:36 don't get overhyped with the idea that this is gonna be
06:39 very very bright. Don't get your hopes up because you're unfortunately be a
06:43 little bit on the more disappointed side. Now to press the button on the side,
06:46 here's what it looks like when it's not illuminated. Here's what it looks like
06:50 when it is illuminated. Can you even see the difference? I guess you could. It
06:54 looks honestly a little bit better in the camera than it does in person. It
06:57 looks like it's barely illuminated and again it's only really gonna be
07:00 illuminated from the front. You're obviously not gonna be seeing anything
07:03 on the back but you can see if you look kind of inside here, you can see the
07:07 sections in which the light is kind of peering out the back. I mean again it
07:10 looks a little bit more impressive I would imagine if you're gonna be cutting
07:13 the lights which is exactly what I'm gonna be doing. So here's what it looks
07:16 like with of course the studio lights all on and here's what it looks like
07:19 with the lights all off. Now it doesn't really do the greatest of jobs of
07:23 illuminating everything. You can kind of see it's a little weaker in some of the
07:27 sides where it's really bright on the one side for the hand and not as overly
07:30 bright on the other side. Some of the creases for example in the ghosts
07:34 illuminate a little bit brighter. I mean it does again get the job done but it
07:38 doesn't do like the greatest of job of illuminating everything from side to
07:42 side. There are a little bit more of the weaker areas and I don't know if maybe
07:45 some of it has to do with the fact that there's just some more additional
07:47 molding here where it just doesn't get as much of the chance for the light to
07:51 kind of shine through it. But it isn't the greatest of lights. I mean like I
07:54 said it illuminates okay but you can definitely see there's some areas that
07:58 really do suffer. I can't help but also point out to you guys the little top
08:02 curl of his hair here. What would be I guess would be the curl of the hair for
08:06 the ghost. But the little curl anyways that he has on the top. If you look at the top
08:09 of it it seems to be really dark in color almost as if it's been burned. I
08:13 don't think it's the case. It's probably just the way it's been molded but I
08:16 couldn't help but again notice that it's really dark right here and it's not dark
08:21 anywhere else. I mean again like if to have this in your office. Let's fix the
08:26 cable here as well. To have this in your office and having the lights off at
08:30 least it does illuminate although it doesn't illuminate all that well. While
08:34 not really being the greatest of lamps at least if you wanted to have yourself
08:38 a Ghostbusters no ghost sign sitting on your desk or hey why not even hanging on
08:42 your wall this one at least does get the job done. I'm sure you if you looked hard
08:46 enough you probably could find better one better examples maybe online even
08:49 maybe even on Etsy there probably has been somebody that's made very neat
08:52 looking Ghostbusters signs that you have hanging from your wall. The thing about
08:56 this though is I don't plan to have this hanging from the wall even though there
08:59 are hanging hooks on the back of it. My plan really was just to always pick
09:03 this up have it on display on my desk along with the rest of my Ghostbuster
09:07 collectibles and for that it does exactly what it needs to do. Its
09:11 illumination is pretty weak though and you can see like when we had the lights
09:14 cut out I mean some of the sections on the ghost illuminate a little bit better
09:18 than others and still again like it's weird that that top section a little
09:21 curly that he has on the top of his head had be like a more darker color almost
09:25 as if something got burned on it but yet when you have the lights off it doesn't
09:29 look like anything's been damaged to the sign it's just weird one weird to have
09:33 that section be the only section on the ghost that is a darker color. Still
09:38 though there's missed opportunities here obviously I can't just look at this with
09:41 rose-colored glasses and tell you guys it's a perfect looking lamp it really
09:44 isn't it isn't illuminate very well I mean obviously the fact that they didn't
09:48 even include batteries or even at the very least a micro USB cable those would
09:53 all be fairly inexpensive things that they could at least throw those in
09:56 considering the simplicity of what this lamp actually is not maybe good as a
10:01 lamp but just good as a decorative piece to be putting on display again if you
10:05 guys are interested to get this one for yourself it's currently on sale over at
10:09 Just Geek they like mark this thing down by like 30% maybe again for a ghost
10:13 bust of the movie now in theaters they maybe wanted to mark a lot of their
10:16 Ghostbusters merchandise down but I'll provide the link I'll provide the link
10:19 down below in the video description as of right now it's like $21.86 and I guess
10:23 you know for what it is it's not bad yes I would have liked to have hanging hooks
10:26 on the side so it could have actually stuck out from the wall rather than on
10:30 the wall and yes including the additional things like the cable and the
10:33 battery seemed like a no-brainer but again if you want a fairly inexpensive
10:36 Ghostbusters sign of course just to present just to showcase your love for
10:40 Ghostbusters it's not a bad sign after all if there's something you guys could
