00:00I think I'd be a whole lot less worried about that leaking trioxin, providing the packaging is airtight-sealed.
00:05Here's your look at the brand new Trick-or-Treat Studios, The Return of the Living Dead, Tar Man, with smacking brain, barrel, and trioxin slime.
00:10Straight from the trioxin-soaked nightmare of 1985, Trick-or-Treat Studios is proud to present the officially licensed Return of the Living Dead, Tar Man, 5-inch action figure.
00:32This undead icon is oozing with detail, literally.
00:35Tar Man comes with black slime, perfect for recreating his unforgettable first appearance emerging from the chemical drum.
00:41The figure also includes trioxin barrel accessory and a deliciously detailed sculpted brain.
00:46Standing 5 inches tall and poseable, Tar Man is a must-have for horror collectors, zombie lovers, and anyone who worships practical effects perfection.
00:54You know, you when you get hungry, and certainly a Snickers isn't going to satisfy you.
00:57Before, though, we get a closer look at the Return of the Living Dead, Tar Man, 5-inch figure.
01:00I'd like to first thank the folks over at Trick-or-Treat Studios for making this review possible.
01:05The figure is available on their site for $24.99.
01:08There's big sales going on right now at Trick-or-Treat Studios also as well.
01:11Click the link down below in the video description.
01:13In the meantime, though, let's go get things stepping here with the tape measure to see how tall the figure's going to stand.
01:17And then we're going to also bring in some other retro-style figures as well.
01:20Tar Man, if I'm looking at this correctly, and I like to think that I am,
01:23the figure's going to be standing at 5 1⁄4 inches in height, working out to be a figure that's 13 centimeters tall.
01:28Because I know Tar Man's not too choosy.
01:30Here's what the figure looks like, along with a pretty woman.
01:32And here's also what the figure looks like with Captain Spaulding from the House of a Thousand Corpses line.
01:36And here's also what he looks like with Art the Clown.
01:38I think, scale-wise, he fits in pretty well if you're currently collecting all the fun stuff that comes from Trick-or-Treat Studios.
01:44Whether it be from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, whether it be from House of a Thousand Corpses,
01:47whether it be even from Terrifier.
01:48Terrifying of the figure Spaulding accessories.
01:50Tar Man does first include a brain.
01:52A succulent, juicy brain.
01:54What am I talking about here?
01:55The brain itself has been colored well here in a lighter pink.
01:58There's some nice darker pinks playing in there as well.
02:01Speaking of playing, it looks like he actually wants to play with it before he eats it.
02:04Actually, if you look at the top of the brain, there's some indentations looking like fingers have gotten to it.
02:09In fact, the way they designed this is quite clever.
02:12If you look at this hole right here, and you look at the thumb underneath his hand,
02:16you can actually plug the hand into the brain.
02:19So it looks like he's actually palming it like a football.
02:21I don't know if he's Al Bundy for touchdowns in one game,
02:23but he certainly can't touch down rather several individuals,
02:26maybe even turning them into the walking undead.
02:29The brain itself, you can either have him kind of dangling it behind him,
02:33or you can also have him holding it up like he's just holding up a trophy.
02:35Hey, look, everybody, look what I got.
02:37All right, Tar Man wouldn't even say that.
02:39The brain is also one thing that can be also included to be displayed inside the trioxin barrel.
02:44Yeah, the barrel itself does have, first of all, a sticker on the top,
02:47so it does look like there's a dead inside of that.
02:49What's cool, though, is the barrel has weight to it.
02:51Not so much the fact that the plastic adds to the weight, but the contents inside do.
02:56If you lift up the lid, and inside that trioxin barrel, you actually get yourself a bag of slime.
03:03Now, for this, I've kept the slime still sealed inside of its bag.
03:06In a second, though, I will be dumping out the contents inside the barrel.
03:10And then you can, from there, you may not be able to fit, I mean, maybe one leg of anything else,
03:14but you can also take that said slime and dump it all over the Tar Man.
03:18Not sure, really, though, if I'm going to be doing that, but at the very least, though,
03:21let's get this bag opened up and start playing around with slime.
03:25I know most would probably say, hey, buddy, if you're opening up trioxin, you're already asking for trouble.
03:29But seeing as we've already opened it anyways, and we've now been exposed by the fumes,
03:32viewing audience right now, it's like, what have we been exposed to?
03:36Don't worry about it.
03:36Don't worry about it.
03:37Let's look, though, at the slime inside.
03:38The slime is actually a very kind of wet, gelatinous slime.
03:42It's more kind of the liquid slime than is the thicker slime.
03:44You can take said slime, dump it inside the barrel, just like this.
03:50Cleanup, I think, would be okay, providing you kind of keep either things inside of a bag
03:54or you keep it inside the canister.
03:55But the slime is very gelatinous, as you can see.
04:00Just make sure, though, you don't stain anything around you.
04:02I would probably recommend not playing with trioxin anyways,
04:05but if you're going to be playing with trioxin slime,
04:07keep it probably away from anything that's furnished, like furniture, chairs, couches, beds.
04:12Probably a bad idea, too.
04:13But I have still a little bit of slime inside.
04:15I don't know if I'm going to be able to strain out all of it.
04:17Maybe if I kind of roll it towards the top of the bag.
04:20We'll just kind of leave it at least for right now, put it off the side.
04:22You can see, like, some of the stain.
04:23We'll kind of just clean up shop here.
04:26This slime, really, myself, like a towel.
04:28But we'll at least, though, push forward.
04:30The inside of the slime, again, is really slimy.
04:34It is that kind of perfect slime.
04:36If you really wanted to baste this all over, like just a basting brush,
04:39you can paint yourself the tar man.
04:41Just dab the paintbrush in there, slap it, slather it all over the character's body.
04:46But again, like I would certainly stress this, if you are playing around with the slime,
04:49just kind of keep it away from anything that's probably going to be caused damage by.
04:53The canister itself, again, we can go ahead.
04:55I suppose, if anything, you probably could also put the brain in there, too.
04:57But let's just put the lid on it for right now.
05:00And the lid itself, by the way, doesn't just snap in place.
05:02In order to actually fully commit to it, you have to put it on and almost even turn it,
05:07just to ensure it does survive the blizzard test.
05:09This would be one thing, though, you wouldn't want to leak everywhere.
05:12We'll kind of put the tar oxen slime right over there.
05:14Moving then our focus over to the actual tar man himself.
05:17Again, for this, I'm probably not going to put the slime all over his body,
05:19just because, again, I know I'm going to be getting it everywhere.
05:22And I feel like, anyways, he's pretty slimy anyways.
05:25Look at the head sculpt, though, for the tar man.
05:27I am a big fan of the tar man.
05:28Now, Trick-or-Treat Studios not only has done, though, a tar man of this size
05:32that we look at in this review, but they've also done the full 12-inch scale tar man
05:36that we've also looked at, well, a fairly long time ago,
05:39probably several, about a year or so ago.
05:41Maybe it was even further back from that.
05:42Great-looking tar man.
05:43I love, really, the look of this tar man, too.
05:46Wear that, it'd be a little harder to pull it off in fabric.
05:48They can easily, so easily pull this off in plastic.
05:51I love that he's got these little running streams of slime
05:53that's trickled down from the top of his leg,
05:55forming sort of these pools down below
05:57where the figure's walking.
05:59The feet, by the way, though, because of that,
06:01does have much larger feet footprints.
06:03Because of that, though, the figure doesn't have any issues whatsoever standing.
06:07He does have, just in case, though, pickles and the bombs of his feet.
06:10The figure doesn't come in with a display stand,
06:11but again, when it comes to displaying tar man,
06:13even if you really have his arms up,
06:15no issues whatsoever standing.
06:18Detail-wise, though, not only does it start really well with the head,
06:21but working our way down,
06:22there's a lot of attention to detail that they've taken the time to sculpt in there.
06:26Things like bones, things like kneecaps,
06:28things like things that are just protruding outside of his body
06:30are all captured here really well.
06:32Love the spine cord on the back,
06:34the spinal cord on the back of his body.
06:35Now, there is technically possibility on this guy as well,
06:37but even if there wasn't,
06:39just as a statue figure,
06:41he looks really the part.
06:42Again, whether you want to actually dump the slime fully into the container,
06:45or you want to just kind of keep it inside the bag,
06:46I think even if they just had kept the canister sealed
06:49and just had it be an accompanying accessory,
06:52I think just on its own,
06:53out the gate, out of the packaging,
06:54he would have been a fine figure,
06:55and then you could just, you know,
06:56sort of put the brain on top of the canister lid like that.
06:59But no, no, there's actually some posability here at play
07:01when it comes to the tar man.
07:03If we look again at his head sculpt,
07:04would you believe, though, that there was actually a swivel?
07:06There is.
07:07You can move the head back and forth.
07:09I wouldn't necessarily commit to the full idea
07:10of rotating this guy all the way around,
07:12but it does stop sort of in one way
07:14that you know that you're probably not going to be able
07:16to turn it all the way around.
07:17Especially, too, it's going to get past the areas of the shoulders,
07:20and it's going to tell you on its own,
07:22hey, don't move me any further than that.
07:24The head doesn't seem to be like it's going to be on a ball joint,
07:26so you can't move it up and down,
07:27but I think just a swivel alone is more than enough.
07:29Speaking, though, of things that swivel,
07:31the arms, in fact, do swivel all the way around.
07:34There is also technically also a posability here
07:36in the top of the torso.
07:38Does it feel like a ball joint?
07:39It feels more like a swivel joint,
07:41but it does move forward and back.
07:42So when you really tally everything up,
07:44you've got a head,
07:44you've got yourself some shoulders,
07:46and you've got yourself a torso.
07:47I think that's more really than enough.
07:49Again, I think it's fun the fact
07:50that they actually included a little bag of slime.
07:52Just, again, be careful of the slime
07:54because you want to make sure.
07:55You don't want to make sure
07:55that you get the slime anywhere.
07:56If you're collecting this for yourself,
07:58you're an adult,
07:59you don't want to be getting slime on chairs
08:01or anything that's going to,
08:02you know, you're going to have to go back
08:03and clean it up again.
08:04I mean, if you're a kid, obviously,
08:05if you're looking at,
08:06well, first of all,
08:06if you love Tar Man and Return to the Living Dead,
08:09you're the coolest kid around.
08:10But yeah, just, I would say,
08:12certainly keep the slime
08:13inside the trioxin canister
08:15where it belongs,
08:16just, again,
08:16so that you're not going to be
08:17infecting everybody around you.
08:19The thing I also really like, though,
08:20about Tar Man
08:21is he is just the ideal size.
08:23If you're kind of collecting
08:24this scale size
08:26that Trick or Treat Studios
08:27have been knocking out of the park with,
08:28whether it be, again,
08:29like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre,
08:30whether it be, again,
08:31like the House of a Thousand Corpses
08:32or even Terror Fires,
08:33Art the Clown,
08:34I do, though, like
08:35that the,
08:36I'm drawing a blank,
08:39that actually Tar Man
08:40does scale really well.
08:41Let's actually just move this
08:42out of the way here.
08:43I do like that he scales really well,
08:45that he is a believable size
08:46and a believable scale
08:47that if you are putting these on the shelf,
08:48he doesn't necessarily feel
08:50like he's way too big
08:51or way too small.
08:52In fact,
08:53he's the perfect size.
08:54Again, like this figure is
08:55right now over on their site.
08:58I think, in fact,
08:58actually a double take
08:59of looking back on their site,
09:00I think the listing for Tar Man
09:01shows that he's currently sold out,
09:03which is a bit of a bummer,
09:04especially if you're looking
09:04to collect this kind of stuff
09:05during the festive season
09:06for a gift for somebody else
09:07or maybe a gift even for yourself.
09:09But what you can always really do
09:10is something I've certainly said
09:11in the past.
09:12You can put in the notify me
09:13when available option.
09:15So even if he is available
09:16or not available at the time
09:18that this review does come out,
09:19you can at least put in
09:20the notify me available option.
09:23So again,
09:23like when this guy does get
09:24eventually in stock,
09:25you can get the notification for that.
09:27You can add this guy
09:28to your shopping cart
09:28and eventually you can add this guy
09:30to your collection shelf.
09:31I can see somebody's already forgot
09:32to put the lid on the triaxin canister.
09:34What a bad idea.
09:35First of all,
09:36you're only going to be infecting everybody
09:37by the leaking out fumes
09:38from the top of it.
09:39Hmm, is that pumpkin spice?
09:41But also too,
09:42let's just say
09:43you've already dumped out
09:43the contents of the slime
09:44inside the canister.
09:45Leaving things like this
09:46unlid for too long
09:47of a period of time
09:48is only going to result
09:49in that slime
09:50drying all out.
09:52No, you want to keep that slime
09:53as wet as you can
09:54for as long as you can.
09:55I would definitely certainly say
09:56if you're going to be dumping
09:57the slime inside the canister,
09:58keep it lid at all times.
10:00Now you can choose for yourself
10:01whether you want to have
10:02the brain sitting inside of it.
10:03Well, unfortunately though,
10:04the tar man can't fit
10:05inside the canister.
10:06The brain certainly can.
10:07You can choose to either
10:08have the brain inside there
10:09or you can also have him
10:10palming the brain.
10:12Smart though,
10:12that Trick or Treat Studio
10:13has actually contoured fingers
10:15into the top of the brain
10:16so it fits perfectly
10:17against the palm of the tar man.
10:19Not to mention as well,
10:20the tar man does have
10:21some points of posibility,
10:22a totaling of four,
10:24and he's a really well
10:24fun sculpted figure.
10:26Now, unfortunately though,
10:27I did go back
10:27and I checked the listing again.
10:29The $24.99 for the return
10:30of the living dead
10:31tar man five inch figure
10:32was too good of a deal
10:33to pass up on
10:34because he has,
10:35at the moment right now,
10:37has since sold out.
10:38Maybe perhaps they might
10:39have the chance to stalk
10:40this guy again
10:40before the seasons wrap up.
10:42But right now,
10:43the tar man though
10:43is currently out of stock.
10:45However though,
10:45I did say in this review
10:46and I'll say this again,
10:47you can always go with the option
10:48of notify me when available.
10:49That tells then,
10:50first of all,
10:51Trick or Treat Studios
10:52that you are interested
10:53and if there's enough people
10:54that are all doing
10:54the same thing,
10:55it tells them that they have
10:56to get stock back in stock.
10:58Things in stock right away.
11:00But also means too
11:00that when the moment does happen,
11:02that that happens to pop back up
11:04on their listings,
11:05you'll be notified
11:06and then you can get the chance
11:07to add this one
11:07to your collection cart.
11:09Again,
11:09a big thank you
11:09to the folks over
11:10at Trick or Treat Studios
11:11that did provide this sample
11:12of the return
11:13of the living dead.
11:14That is pumpkin spice,
11:15isn't it?
11:16Oh,
11:17it smells good.
11:18Today,
11:18we had the chance
11:19to look at the return
11:20of the living dead
11:21five inch tar man
11:22with a canister
11:23of a trioxin.
11:25I'm getting a little dizzy here.
11:26If you guys certainly
11:27did enjoy this video,
11:28do it a solid
11:28and throw it a like.
11:29If you guys want to stick around
11:30for more so,
11:30I hope so.
11:32We're going to have
11:32some more content
11:33coming your way
11:33for the rest of this week,
11:34so I hope you guys
11:34are going to be
11:35coming back for that.
11:35As always,
11:36thanks for watching.
11:37See you guys next time.
