00:00Drago may have brought the war, but Rocky finished the fight.
00:03Here's a look at the brand new Sly Stallone shop, the Rocky Legacy Collection.
00:07Through the ropes, Rocky over Drago, one-tenth-scale statue.
00:10Rocky IV has voted the greatest fight in cinematic history.
00:31The iconic war in Rocky IV when Rocky Balboa knocks Ivan Drago through the ropes is captured in one-tenth scale.
00:36No detail has been left out.
00:38We also have licensing from Tough Wear Boxing on Rocky and Drago's boxing glove to add that authenticity.
00:43A must-have for all film fans.
00:45Materials and finish made of polystone resin and hand-painted to capture every detail from the iconic scene.
00:50I know Drago says he wants to break Rocky, but just be careful when you're removing Rocky and Drago from their foam trays that you don't break them yourself.
00:56These are actually made, though, of polystone resin and hand-painted carefully.
01:01So if you are looking to get this one for yourself, it is available right now on Sly Stallone's shop for $496.
01:07I'd like to actually thank the folks there that actually did provide this sample.
01:11I did want to kind of start things first by having this fully assembled.
01:14Yes, some assembly is required, as you probably already saw at the beginning of this video.
01:18I'll show you, though, how everything kind of goes together after.
01:20But first things first, the fully finished piece.
01:22I want to get some tape measuring going so you guys can see how tall and how big it actually is.
01:26If we go to the bottom of the base for the ring and we go all the way to the top of Rocky's head,
01:31you're looking at the statue as a whole being about 10 and a half inches in height,
01:35working out to be roughly about 26 and a half centimeters tall.
01:39Then for its width, the width would be probably a harder thing to pull off just because, again,
01:43you're going from the end of the rope to the top of the post.
01:46Based on that, you're looking at it being about 11 inches in width or roughly about 28 and a half centimeters long,
01:53dismantling everything and starting from scratch.
01:56These are all the contents that you're going to be getting inside the box.
01:59It does consist of both Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago.
02:02Part of at least the ring, you get a corner of the ring that's going to plug in over here,
02:06and then you get some ropes.
02:07Now, all of those, again, I'll show you guys in this review, how everything kind of comes together.
02:11First things first, though, carefully, carefully picking up the ring because it makes up the majority of the weight.
02:16No attention, again, to detail has been missed here by the Sly Stallone shop.
02:20You can probably see for yourself some connecting points.
02:22Those, again, will be for the posts.
02:24Here would be, then, the footprint that Rocky is going to be attached, then, onto.
02:28And then there's this impression right here.
02:30If you get the impression, this is actually where Ivan Drago will be laying down.
02:33But, again, it's a hefty base, quite heavy, too.
02:37You can see that it does have the glove representing America and then the other glove representing Moscow.
02:42If we lift this up, though, underneath, we are treated to the Rocky Legacy Collection,
02:46Rocky 1-10th scale, a resin statue through the ropes,
02:49with, in fact, actually the signature of Sly Stallone himself.
02:53There is some foam feet, rubberized feet, on the sides, at least, to prevent scratching on surfaces.
02:58But it is making up for a very heavy, in fact, actually getting this all out of the box,
03:02the weight was sort of more misleading because everything as I was taking it out felt like,
03:06as a collective, it was really heavy.
03:08But it really ends up being more the base, more the actual ring itself,
03:12that makes up the majority of the statue's weight.
03:14But, as for those of the figures themselves, let's get a closer look at them.
03:18Again, like, what we get here treated to is both Rocky and Ivan Drago near the end of the fight.
03:23Rocky Balboa, again, the attention to detail here, the swelling of the eye on the side,
03:27there's quite a bit of bruising and blood all across his face.
03:31I think, again, like, it does look a fair bit like Rocky Balboa.
03:35Again, really nicely done in the sculpture and the musculature that they've done to the body.
03:40You can see that they've carefully gone in here.
03:42And, again, these are all hand-painted pieces, so I'm going to be very careful, again, when holding these.
03:47Rocky doesn't really have the means to stand on a nose.
03:49I guess he kind of does, but, again, like, he really is to be intended to be attached onto the top of the ring.
03:54Now, there is, though, when I got this out of the packaging,
03:56I thought for a second that there was some damage to the paint or the paint wasn't properly applied.
04:00But then I realized, though, that's blood, and that's actually, in fact, Ivan Drago's blood,
04:04all splashed across the front of the stars and the stripes.
04:07Now, again, like, we've got ourselves some true attention to detail here, too.
04:11The actual real gloves that they would have had in the film, so they would have gotten the rights here to be able to use these gloves.
04:16And I think, again, like, the attention to detail is really well handled here.
04:20The socks on the top there, again, nicely done here in blue.
04:23The stripes on the sides of the shoes are all done here well as well.
04:26The boxing boots.
04:28Again, like, with the way that these attached, even though on one side, though,
04:31by the way, all these, too, by the way, attached by magnets,
04:34probably you can see here for at least Rocky's one that there's a magnet right here.
04:38There's a little metal magnet disc, and that's going to actually help to secure the figure
04:42when you attach them onto the display stand.
04:44This section, though, will be the part that attaches the other side, on the other hand,
04:47or on the other foot, does actually have the treading on the bottom of the boots.
04:51So, again, that's Rocky.
04:52We'll just kind of lay down Rocky here for a second.
04:55It's the only time, well, I guess he falls, he lays down a couple of times over the match.
04:58But in the end, he's the one still walking tall.
05:00Then, of course, we've got Ivan Drago.
05:02Now, Ivan Drago wouldn't be one that's going to be displayed standing up.
05:05In fact, when you're looking to put this on display, Drago will already be laying down.
05:10So, again, when we get the chance now to see the detailing done to Ivan,
05:13he's seen certainly better days.
05:15He's bruised.
05:16Again, he's battered.
05:17But, again, all this nice attention to detail that they've added,
05:19even to the point now where you can also see his mouth guard.
05:22Really a nice, well-sculpted Drago.
05:24Drago, again, very nice muscular cheer.
05:27Again, they've done here with some...
05:28I would guess, though, that they probably have gone in here and airbrushed some of that
05:31rather than actually hand-painting it.
05:32But, again, like just to spin this around so you guys can see his traditional, of course,
05:37red and yellow trunks matching, of course, then also the gloves that he has there, too.
05:41Again, you've got the symbols there matched on the gloves.
05:43And, again, you've got yourself the little tassels,
05:45even to the point where they've actually put those on the tops of his boots.
05:48That's a nice yellow striping there on the side as well.
05:50Boy, these are really nice-looking pieces.
05:53Again, a little smaller than I was expecting because, again, like really when you look at the statue,
05:56it's one collective piece rather than actually just individual statues
06:00that you're going to be having on the shelf.
06:01What you then get also with the statue is you get the corner post.
06:05The corner post does only have just this part of the rope.
06:08Because, again, this is the part that's basically going to come this way.
06:11Actually, when you plug it in, it plugs more so here.
06:13And then you have these slots right here that are then going to accommodate these posts right here or these ropes.
06:19When you're looking to actually put these in, there's actually an easy way to do it.
06:23So don't feel like you're going to be overwhelmed looking at this and thinking,
06:25and I don't know which way the ropes are, which rope is going to go where.
06:29Actually, when you look at these, just looking at the top here,
06:32I don't know if you can actually see that or not.
06:34There is a number, and the number here is, is that three?
06:38I think that's three.
06:38So it's going to go on the bottom here.
06:40What they've also done, too, is they color match these.
06:42So just in case you're like myself who's having a harder time making out those numbers,
06:46just know, though, that if you look at the colors,
06:48you've got, again, like green.
06:49So green's going to match the green down below.
06:51You're going to have also a yellow.
06:53So yellow is going to go right in the middle.
06:55And then you're going to have red that's going to start to the top,
06:57and that's going to be the first rope that you're going to put in.
07:00It doesn't really necessarily matter which way that you're going to be putting in.
07:02Again, I like that they've added the silver there to the post itself.
07:05Nice white ropes.
07:06It's a really nice looking piece.
07:08But again, like these are all polyresin stones.
07:09So you, again, really want to be careful of that.
07:11When it comes to attaching everything,
07:14we'll maybe start things first with Rocky.
07:16Now, Rocky, by the way that you can see the shaping
07:18on the bottom of his boot,
07:19he lines things up right here,
07:21and he's attached by magnets.
07:23Let's just maybe bring this up a little bit
07:24so you guys can see a better shot of that.
07:26Yeah, so like when he's attached,
07:28he's attached more by a magnet.
07:29So it's going to ensure, though,
07:31first of all, that Rocky is going to be falling over.
07:33And again, it's going to kind of keep everything together.
07:35All of the things for assembly are all done by magnets.
07:38So that's a better, safer way than rather relying on pegs.
07:42Pegs every once in a while, you know, again,
07:44like when you get things that have to attach by pegs,
07:45sometimes there's the problem that peg posts can break,
07:49but magnets work so much, so much easier.
07:51So what we're going to do now is
07:52we're going to take this piece right here,
07:54and that's going to slot here in this open circle.
07:57When you're looking at it, though,
07:58it's not actually a full circle.
07:59It's actually halved on the end here.
08:01But there is only really one way that it can go.
08:03The larger post will go into the larger hole,
08:05and then this smaller post will go into this hole right here.
08:09So we attach the two together like that.
08:13The only one issue I kind of had,
08:15and it involves actually this post here,
08:17this post being smaller,
08:20you really feel like you have to put a little bit more pressure on it.
08:22But I don't think, based at least on the images online,
08:25that it's supposed to go any further than that.
08:27It kind of more just rusts there.
08:28This sort of more is the guide here
08:30to tell you where exactly it's going to attach
08:32and how far down it actually has to attach.
08:35From there, then, you can also take yourself,
08:36Ivan Drago, now you can do this one of two ways.
08:38You can add Ivan Drago before you add the last rope,
08:41or again, like you can add all the ropes.
08:44And then, well, the easiest thing I would certainly say, though,
08:46is that you get three ropes,
08:48and then you also get the brace
08:51that's going to go over top of the three.
08:53So like it does on this side,
08:54you're going to get another piece
08:55that's going to cover over the ropes
08:56once you add all three.
08:58What I'll do, though, first,
08:59is I'm going to add the first two,
09:01then I'll add Ivan,
09:02and then I'll slide the third rope in.
09:04I just find that that's the easiest thing to do.
09:06So we're going to take the last rope,
09:07or I should say, really, the first rope.
09:09When you also put it in, too,
09:10I'm just going to take this off here for a second.
09:12Don't put it in like this.
09:14You kind of have to,
09:15if you look at the inside right here,
09:17it sits further back, more recessed.
09:20So you have to put it in on an angle,
09:22and then it securely attaches.
09:24And I don't really want to do this too much,
09:26but it does hold by the magnet.
09:28So again, we're just going to put this back in place.
09:31Make sure that the post sits all the way in there.
09:33So that's the first rope.
09:35Then again, looking at the color,
09:36so we've got red, we've got yellow,
09:38we've now got the green.
09:39So the yellow is going to go in as well.
09:41And when you put it in,
09:42kind of tuck it more in on the corner,
09:44and then the magnet's going to hold everything in place.
09:46You're going to get a little bit of the lost ring on this side,
09:49but it does kind of give you a bit of that unfinished,
09:52although it does kind of give you a nice,
09:54more stylized design of the ring.
09:56Now, one thing, again,
09:57that we're going to want to do
09:58is we're going to take Ivan here.
10:00Ivan's head sits here,
10:02and basically the rest of his body
10:03then sits within the contoured sections here of the ring.
10:06If you take Ivan Drago,
10:08we want to kind of have him
10:09so that his legs are further back.
10:11So they're kind of really close to actually Rocky's boot.
10:14You don't want to have it too far off the edge,
10:16but if you line up everything,
10:17especially the contouring of his leg,
10:19it fits perfectly against the ring rope or the apron.
10:23Then what you'll do then is take the last rope.
10:26Now, again, you could have also put the last rope in
10:28and then take, you have to kind of take Ivan
10:31and you have to put his leg over top of it.
10:33I find it's honestly easier if you take the last rope
10:35and feed it through him once he's already laying down.
10:38So again, we kind of tuck that in.
10:40Again, the magnet securely holds everything in place,
10:43and then you only then need to take yourself the bracer,
10:46and then the brace piece covers over the end ropes.
10:49So when you're looking at it,
10:51this side here is actually going to be a circular peg.
10:53This side right here is going to be
10:54more of a rectangular peg.
10:56And again, everything is securely held together by magnets.
10:59And that's it.
11:00It obviously would be a little bit harder now
11:02to kind of lift everything up and show you guys
11:04and turn everything around,
11:05but it's a really nice finished piece.
11:08Even though really, as a statue,
11:09certainly when it comes to the designing of it,
11:11it's an unfinished ring.
11:12You're only essentially getting,
11:14I would say, even a little more than a quarter of the ring.
11:17But what you get, though,
11:18is the main subjects being Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago.
11:20Both of them look fantastic, well-painted.
11:23Again, I think they've done a really nice job
11:24and sculpted in a piece.
11:25The only thing I will say, though,
11:26is like the ring does occupy the majority of the statue.
11:30Like the characters themselves of Rocky and Ivan
11:32are generally quite small.
11:34But if you're looking more for a diorama piece,
11:36where more of the focus and the subject
11:38is the ring and the surroundings
11:39and not so much the subjects themselves,
11:41it's a really nice looking statue.
11:43Certainly one that I would like to see them approach
11:45with other Rocky films.
11:46Now, of course, we're only looking at one from Rocky IV,
11:48but there's certainly Rockies that came before IV
11:51and I would love to see them approach as well.
11:54Even though it really was Rocky fighting Drago alone,
11:56he wasn't alone when it came to the team
11:58that was working behind the scenes.
11:59Much like that, though,
12:00there's a talented team behind the scenes
12:02at Sly Stallone's shop that made this statue a reality.
12:05Executive producer and direction,
12:06Nick Cardasco of the Sly Stallone shop.
12:08Artist direction and production manager was Fabio Verresi.
12:113D head sculpt, Inigo Gill.
12:133D accessory design, Sean Dabbs.
12:15Master paint, Dario Barbera.
12:17And head sculpt, likeness, direction, and box artwork by John Rivoli.
12:21All of them came together to produce
12:23a cinematic captured masterpiece,
12:25all done here in polyresin stone.
12:27Now, being that this, though, is made of polyresin stone,
12:30polystone resin is one thing, though,
12:32that gives you the weight,
12:34gives you the quality and the premium feel of a statue.
12:37But with that, though,
12:38you've got to be really careful
12:39when it comes to moving the statue around.
12:41Assembly is pretty straightforward.
12:43Rocky, first of all,
12:43is only going to be attaching
12:44by the one metallic post underneath his foot.
12:47Ivan Drago doesn't look like he's going anywhere.
12:49But the caution, I think,
12:50should only be made
12:51when it comes to attaching the turnbuckle ropes.
12:53One side is already attached anyway,
12:55so you don't even have to worry about that.
12:57When then attaching the other ropes,
12:59know, though, at least,
13:00if you can't make out the numbers,
13:01the one, the two, and the three,
13:02if we're counting those out,
13:03know at least, though,
13:04that the Sly Stallone shop
13:05at least also added color matching,
13:07so you just only have to match the ropes
13:08by red, yellow, and green.
13:12$496 will be the price
13:13of the Through the Ropes Rocky over Drago statue.
13:16You can also as well go the route
13:17of four payments of $124
13:19if that seems a little bit more manageable
13:21for your budget.
13:22A big thank you again
13:23to the folks over at Rocky,
13:24the Sly Stallone shop,
13:25for providing the sample
13:27of the Rocky Through the Ropes
13:28one-tenth scale collectible resin statue
13:31of Rocky over Drago.
