00:00You're a catnip to a girl like me. Handsome, dazed, and to die for.
00:04Here's your look at the McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse The Batman Returns Catwoman.
00:21The sequel to Batman pits the Caped Crusader against his most fiendish opponents yet,
00:25the evil Penguin and the cineous and mysterious Catwoman.
00:28I know I can't really speak for Miss Kitty, but I'm sure Selene is now feeling so much yummier.
00:33Let's go ahead and push forward. We'll take the tape measure.
00:35We'll see how tall Selene stacks before we stand her alongside another movie's Selene.
00:40What?
00:41By the way, I'd also like to thank Popeye the Toy Man that hooked this guy up.
00:45We're going to be looking at the entire line, thanks to him, all throughout this week.
00:48As for how tall Selene is going to stand, about 7 inches in height.
00:52That's going to work out to be a figure that's 17 and a half centimeters tall.
00:56I think I better act quickly before he feeds her floor.
00:58Here's what the figure looks like with the already looked at Batman Returns Michael Keaton Batman.
01:02Size-wise, I think it's pretty close.
01:04I would almost even say that Michael Keaton's Batman maybe should be just a little bit shorter
01:08to be then in scale with Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman,
01:10but I think they translate pretty well here in plastic.
01:13I said, though, already that we're going to stack her along with another Selene.
01:15This happens to be, though, the Nolan Trilogy, or more specifically, the Dark Knight Rises Selene Kyle,
01:20played, of course, by Anne Hathaway.
01:21You know, Catwoman's litter box, I happen to have found the following accessories.
01:25First, the figure does come in clue with the display stand.
01:27That, yes, would be no surprise.
01:28That happens to be the exact same one that we've already got with Batman.
01:31This seems to be the norm moving forward that they're now using this DC logo, and I'm fine for that.
01:36Walking distance from that, like with this one over here,
01:38the figure does have pegs that can plug into either one of Catwoman's feet.
01:41She does have, though, pretty small feet, so you may want to keep this on the ready.
01:46The figure, unfortunately, though, does come in clue with a trading card.
01:48Why say unfortunately?
01:49Well, it's unfortunately, though, the exact same one that we've already got with Batman.
01:53It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't, though, just like the front image be the exact same,
01:57and then the read-up on the back be completely different.
02:00But unfortunately, though, what you're only going to be getting is a different image.
02:04Everything else is exactly the same.
02:06It does say Batman Returns, but it does say Batman above it.
02:09It says Catwoman.
02:10But, I mean, really, outside of that, it's the exact same read-up.
02:13I do wish, though, they could have made something a little bit different,
02:16something more specific to Batman, something more specific to Selina.
02:21Figure does also come in clue with her whip.
02:24Talented, though, Michelle Pfeiffer, she really had to train with a whip,
02:26and she was able to successfully...
02:28There's a video you can see on YouTube where she actually took off the mannequin heads one after the other,
02:35and then she skip-roped her way outside of the scene.
02:37The whip itself is pretty long, and it's made of more of a softer plastic.
02:41It does have, though, a very long, very large handle.
02:45The handle is thick, although it does still manage to fit into her hands.
02:48The hands themselves, finger-wise, at least, is using softer plastic.
02:52So you go ahead and just take the handle of the whip.
02:54Again, you only really have one hand, because the other hand is good for, like, clawing guys in alleyways.
02:59Chris Tick-Tock-Toe.
03:01Anyways, though, I mean, she does hold the whip, and she holds it really well.
03:04I mean, there's no likelihood that she's going to be dropping it at all.
03:06Maybe entertain, again, the idea that she also comes in clue with this accessory.
03:10Her little kitty...
03:12Do I have a piece of tape on that?
03:13I think I do.
03:14Let's just peel the tape off.
03:15I thought I got all the tape off all the accessories,
03:17even though Catwoman really doesn't have many more.
03:19Peeling off, though, the tape, she has her little kitty shocker.
03:23The taser, though, does look a little like a cat.
03:25I think, actually, in the movie, though, she stores it on the side of her leg.
03:28There's no real way, though, that you can actually take the taser and clip it onto Catwoman's leg.
03:32One way that they could have maybe worked around that, put a little peg there,
03:35but really, would anyone want to see a big ugly peg on the side of Catwoman's boots?
03:39I would!
03:39Okay, apparently the guy in the back would like to see a big obnoxious peg on the side of her leg.
03:43That would be the only real workaround to attaching the taser to her leg.
03:47I like the taser, though, before she kisses Max Schreck at the end of the movie.
03:51We can go ahead and take that taser and take the fingers.
03:55The fingers are sort of more flat, but she does hold the taser, and she can give a little kiss to Sandy Claus.
04:01Very, very cool.
04:03I don't think she really needs any other accessories now.
04:05Certainly, though, I mean, let's entertain, perhaps, the idea that a platinum edition of this figure could be released down the road,
04:11where we have, then, like, the hair coming out the back, like, torn and tattered outfit.
04:16Catwoman goes through a lot.
04:17She doesn't spend all the nine lives.
04:19She certainly, though, spends enough that the costume gets tattered by the end of the movie.
04:23I think even, like, her bodice gets more, like, an off-gray color.
04:26I hope, fingers crossed, that eventually we do get ourselves a platinum edition of Catwoman,
04:30because, again, like, I don't think they'd have to really do all that much different to the one that we already have here,
04:34other than just, again, adding hair on the back.
04:37Come on, Todd.
04:37We know you really want to make the most use out of a mold.
04:41Give us the long-haired Catwoman with the torn outfits.
04:43Let's just hope.
04:44Fingers crossed.
04:45Headscult, though.
04:46It is probably one of the best movie likenesses I think we've gotten.
04:50I don't know what took so long, really, for Michelle Pfeiffer to lend out likeness rights,
04:55but it seems lately, though, we are getting a lot more Michelle Pfeiffer merchandise than we ever did before.
04:59I think, though, again, like, it's one of the best Catwomans.
05:01Even though I thought, like, Anne Hathaway's Catwoman was okay,
05:06I don't think she can hold a torch, hold a litter box anywhere near what we got with Michelle Pfeiffer's likeness.
05:11I think the likeness, again, is definitely on.
05:14The eyes are a little more on the paler side, but, again, I like that they've gone in there and airbrushed some darker shadowing around those eyes.
05:21The lips are nice and red.
05:22I don't know if there's a canary inside of her mouth, but really, again, nice-looking head sculpt.
05:27From there, though, like, there's a lot of details that continue down from that.
05:31She's got the stitching all down.
05:32I mean, she obviously makes this herself.
05:34I think she makes it out of a raincoat, sewing away tediously in front of a sewing machine until eventually she makes the suit.
05:40She gets, like, seam rippers, too.
05:42I think that's the thing that she adds on the ends of her fingers, and those are there as well.
05:46Sure, maybe there could have been an opportunity that they could have maybe painted these in gray rather than just leaving them behind in black.
05:52But other than that, I mean, I don't know if there's anything at all I would have done differently to the costume.
05:56She's a little, obviously, on the leaner side.
05:58Michelle Pfeiffer apparently, like, just hated wearing this costume.
06:01It was skin-tight.
06:03It was hard to breathe in.
06:03It was hard to put on.
06:04I think after that, she had no plans at all to ever put it back on again.
06:08Again, stitching is nicely done and handled here on the back.
06:11All the stitching, by the way, too.
06:12There are some areas where you can feel like it's printed on.
06:16There's other areas, like here, for example, where it feels like it's actually sculpted on.
06:19Not that it really matters.
06:20I don't know, though, if they're probably going to be using this body again outside of perhaps getting a platinum edition where, again, it has the hair on the back.
06:27The one problem I kind of have with, unfortunately, Catwoman sort of is the same problem I had with Anne Hathaway's Catwoman, even to the point where I actually have to use a display stand, is that she has very tiny-looking feet.
06:38I looked at these initially and thought maybe that one was tooled from this sculpt or vice versa.
06:43But it does seem, though, like if you're looking at the two, Michelle Pfeiffer's feet do seem a little bit larger.
06:48And obviously, there's some additional sculpting there in the front with her boots, like where Anne Hathaway's just had a more smooth boot.
06:54Other than that, though, again, like both the Catwomans have plagued problems with standing properly.
06:59It's almost like the company needed to include a display stand.
07:02Oh, wait, they did over here.
07:04For the figure's articulation, Catwoman starts with her head being on a ball joint.
07:08So the head can look down and up and rock it back and forth.
07:11Yeah, yeah.
07:12And you can also rotate it all the way around.
07:14For the figure's arms, they easily rotate.
07:16No issues there.
07:17You can hinge them out.
07:18I wouldn't comfortably say 90 degrees.
07:21I wouldn't comfortably say a T pose.
07:22Maybe just a little less than that, but it's still pretty close.
07:26The figure does also have a swivel in her bicep, possessing as well a double hinge on her elbow and hands rotate all the way around.
07:33Now, again, she doesn't have any other swappable hands.
07:35I don't think really that she really necessarily need it.
07:38Yes, one hand, though, again, is I guess you could maybe try to where's the taser?
07:42Where did I put the little put it right over here?
07:45Take the little taser.
07:45Does it fit into this hand?
07:47Not really.
07:48I mean, you're definitely going to lose it if you try to put this in her hand.
07:53I mean, it can kind of rest against the fingers, but I know you're only just asking for trouble.
07:58It's probably a better idea to put it into this hand.
08:01For her torso, it's...
08:02So how the torso essentially works is like this piece right here is softer plastic.
08:08This, because of that, allows that to have a ball joint.
08:10So it does still do quite a lot of things, even though, like, the top doesn't do what it normally should do.
08:16Legs do have a splits.
08:18They're unratcheted joints, after all.
08:19You can take the legs and move forward.
08:21You can move them back.
08:22There's a little bit of a swivel.
08:24Not by much, though.
08:25Double hinge on the knee, which I did notice, though, my catwoman's a little loose getting her out of the packaging.
08:29At least here.
08:30Maybe not as much on this knee.
08:31A little loose, though, on this.
08:33She does have an ankle pivot up and down.
08:34That has a bit of an ankle rocker.
08:36And this figure does also have toe articulation.
08:38I don't know if she necessarily really needs a toe articulated point.
08:41One thing that also is interesting, though, about getting catwoman on a display stand.
08:45Once you get her on the peg, for example.
08:47Where's the peg hole?
08:49There it is right there.
08:51It always seems to be the case that when you put catwoman down on a display stand.
08:54Oh, maybe she's not doing it right now.
08:55I noticed, though, like it kind of causes one leg to lift up.
08:59So she sort of seems off-keltered.
09:01Nice looking catwoman, though.
09:03I hope, though.
09:04I mean, Todd's really good when it comes to this.
09:06Todd McFarlane, that is.
09:07Is really good when it comes to, like, platinum editions and reusing molds.
09:10If he has the available means to do so.
09:12Even though we don't really have another version of the Anne Hathaway cat one.
09:15Which, unfortunately, though, has just gotten a little loose.
09:18A little loose in the knees.
09:19Let's get her back onto a display stand.
09:22I don't think we've gotten any other version of Selina Kyle.
09:24There could probably.
09:25Maybe there have been one where she had actually, like, the mask taken off.
09:29But I think, though, there's definitely opportunity to be had here where they could release a platinum edition Selina Kyle.
09:35I mean, even just a couple of releases.
09:37Why not?
09:37Maybe have an unmasked Selina Kyle.
09:39Here I am, just throwing out ideas to Todd.
09:42An unmasked Selina Kyle would be perfect.
09:44You could keep, again, like the costume, the same down below.
09:45So, again, like when she goes to shock Max Shrek at the end of the film, have her unmasked for that.
09:50Then also give us another version where she's torn, she's tattered, she's all ripped up in her outfit.
09:54And then have the hair kind of sticking out the back of her head, the back of the cowl.
09:58Two possibilities that I hope do have some fruition that they're eventually going to see their way light a day in plastic.
10:04Because, again, like this is too good of a body, too good of a head sculpt to only get a single release of her.
10:09Calum, so far, is the standout figure from this wave.
10:12And I don't think it's going to change with any of the future figures that we're going to be looking at.
10:16Now, I know I got no clout at all when it comes to what decision making is going behind.
10:19Scenes of McFarland Toys.
10:20But I can tell you, though, I have campaigned for a Batman Returns line for a very long time.
10:26Every time a new movie tie-in was released or announced, whether it be Batman and Robin, Batman Forever,
10:30I kept saying to myself and saying to other people, anyone that would be interested,
10:34I hope at some point we do get ourselves a Batman Returns.
10:37Batman Returns is still my all-time favorite Batman movie, bar none.
10:41There is still not a Batman movie that's better for me than Batman Returns.
10:44And one of the things that go and contribute towards me liking that film so much was Michelle Pfeiffer's performance.
10:49It's a Selina Kyle slash Catwoman broken and split her psyche.
10:53I mean, obviously, just as torn and tattered as the outfit that she makes from scratch.
10:57Of course, one of the things that go really well with Catwoman is the fact she does have a skin-tight suit.
11:02Translates, I feel, very well here in plastic.
11:05The cowl works really quite well.
11:07I know Catwoman, I know Michelle Pfeiffer just hated wearing the costume.
11:10And Barry has openly said she has no plans to ever put the costume back on again.
11:14I don't even know if she'd be able to put it on again.
11:16I mean, whether it be the case that she could ever wear the suit again.
11:20I mean, one thing, though, to be said, it's one of the most standout roles in any of the live-action Batman movies,
11:25or for that matter, any superhero movies.
11:27I think still, whatever your feelings may be about a sewer-dwelling Oswald Cobblepot,
11:33that's important.
11:33I think it landed when it came to getting the right casting down for these characters.
11:37And Michelle Pfeiffer just was perfect.
11:39Sean Young, you've got to wonder, though,
11:41how well would have Sean Young been when it came to doing a Catwoman?
11:44I know she, speaking of campaigning, she campaigned for a very long time,
11:47even going right to Warner Brothers' doorstep, dressed even as a cat.
11:51But she never got the role.
11:53You have to really wonder, though.
11:54Like, I think Annette Bening was also one that was originally going to be playing the role.
11:57I think whether she had gotten pregnant at that time,
12:00or she was doing another movie with Warren Beatty at the time.
12:03Either way, though, we end up getting Michelle Pfeiffer.
12:06And it's one of, for me, one of my favorite roles for the actress.
12:09Now, of course, we get herself a Catwoman here all done in plastic,
12:13immortalized forever in plastic.
12:15She comes in clued with the whip.
12:16She comes in clued with the taser.
12:17I don't think she really necessarily needs to have anything else.
12:19I mean, there probably could be a time that they could maybe release her with a canary.
12:23Not even one that she could be putting in her mouth.
12:25But I feel, though, like Todd McFarland is probably already, he's a smart guy.
12:28I'm sure he's already thinking about this himself.
12:31Releasing a couple other Platinum Edition versions of Catwoman.
12:34I mean, we already have two Danny DeVito penguins.
12:37One that's going to come included with the rubber ducky boat or that little car that he drives around.
12:42And then there's also going to be the standalone that we're going to be looking at, in fact, this week.
12:46You've got to think, though, that Todd's doing similar thought process when it comes to Selina Kyle.
12:51Releasing maybe more than one version of her.
12:53So there's going to be the one that has the hair on the back or even just an unmasked.
12:56I mean, they already have the license.
12:57They already have the likeness for Michelle Pfeiffer.
13:00Give us a couple more releases before we see the end of Batman Returns.
13:03Again, a big thank you to Popeye the Toyman that, in fact, actually had these available.
13:08And I got them for a pretty good price, too.
13:10Like, I know, like, with the Batman Returns, especially with the Penguin Commanders, those things are going for stupid money.
13:15Stupid, stupid money online.
13:17But I got them for a pretty good price.
13:19And again, thanks to Popeye the Toyman, we will be looking at all the rest of this wave all throughout the rest of this week.
13:24What do you guys think of Michelle Pfeiffer at first cast as Catwoman?
13:27Like, who else would you have wanted to play the role of Catwoman other than maybe Michelle Pfeiffer?
13:32Let me know down below.
13:33But what do you guys, though, think of this figure?
13:34Pretty good?
13:34One of the best?
13:36Certainly, though, that may be argued as we see the rest of the Batman Returns line all be opened up for the rest of this week.
13:42But I think right now, the bar gets pretty set high with Selina Kyle.
13:46If you guys did enjoy this video, you can do a solid throw to like.
13:49You guys want to stick around for more so?
13:50I certainly hope so.
13:52Hit the subscribe, turn on the bell so you're going to get the reminders every single time a new video posts.
13:56And I do hope, though, that you guys are going to be coming back because there's definitely going to be more content.
14:01As always, thanks for watching.
14:02See you guys next time.
