00:05 Green Lantern's light here's a look at the Brandon McFarland toys superpowers
00:09 Green Lantern Hal Jordan
00:13 Hal Jordan was summoned to the crash wreckage of a spaceship belonged to
00:26 Avin Soar a member of the Green Lantern Corps upon his death Avin entrusted his
00:30 ring and his duties as Green Lantern to Hal Jordan. Hal has a new superpowers
00:34 figure and probably the person that's most excited by that news is the person
00:37 behind the camera the only superpowers figure that I still have from the 80s is
00:42 the Green Lantern Hal Jordan I would really have dropped the ball if I didn't
00:46 bring the figure in for comparison sake because I've brought him in I don't know
00:49 how many times already in the earlier superpowers reviews but don't worry I
00:52 have the figure ready I've been waiting for this moment gonna grab the tape
00:56 measure first and let's see how tall Hal Jordan stands I'd also like to thank if
01:00 I can the folks over McFarland toys they were kind enough to provide this sample
01:03 that we can have a look at the figure of Jordan stands actually four inches
01:07 exactly or he's 10 centimeters tall for all the times I've actually brought this
01:11 guy in for comparisons it's nice to actually finally bring him in and
01:14 compare him with his newer self here's what Hal Jordan looks like with the
01:18 original 80s Kenner superpowers Green Lantern Hal Jordan size-wise there are
01:22 almost about the same the newer one we get from McFarland's team is slightly
01:26 shorter you can also see as well that they're using a completely different
01:29 green normally that would have bothered me but if this was the direction that
01:33 they wanted to go with with the green all the power to him I like the look of
01:37 the green with the black the problem with it though is that we've already
01:40 established the universe of the superpowers Green Lantern with the
01:43 figure that we got from Jon Stewart so to set the bar at where this green is
01:47 supposed to be moving forward you would think why would they then have changed
01:51 the colors for Hal Jordan it just doesn't seem like the colors match I like
01:55 the green don't get me wrong the problem with it though is while it does give it
01:59 sort of more of a vintage look to it it just isn't matching at all with the
02:02 colors for Jon Stewart's bring in some of the other superpowers figures here's
02:05 what the figure looks like with Superman also as well the flash one of my all-time
02:10 favorite figures we've gotten from McFarland superpowers line here's what
02:13 he looks like with the blue cowl Batman we can also bring in Wonder Woman and
02:17 here's also what he looks like with Aquaman so the new superpowers figures
02:21 don't have a working gimmick we've kind of established that by now at some point
02:25 I do hope that that's something that they change down the road but I
02:27 understand from a molding standpoint it's just so much easier and cost
02:31 effective just to produce a mold without having to worry about springs and
02:34 mechanisms on the inside something though that I was throwing as an
02:37 alternative out there is while maybe we don't have working gimmicks on these
02:41 figures something that the original counter figures did have was mini comics
02:45 now they have done something very similar with the page punchers although
02:48 we got normal full-sized comics if they shrunk ones down and packed them along
02:53 with the superpowers moving forward it would just be a nice little added treat
02:56 to collectors what at least he gets for a treat is he gets his little green
03:00 lantern the green lantern while you may look at this and just assume it's the
03:04 same lantern that we got from Jon Stewart's it's not at all this is the
03:08 one from Jon Stewart you can see more resembles kind of the classic looking
03:12 lantern while this is a much bigger looking lantern and definitely again a
03:16 darker looking green the handle I will say though while this one had kind of
03:20 more of a softer plastic that they used and unfortunately mine's a little on the
03:23 more warped side the new one at least from from Jon Stewart from Hal Jordan
03:27 actually has a nice thick handle less likely to break it's a little again more
03:32 stylized of an approach for the lantern I don't dislike it but again like if
03:37 you're gonna be getting us already one from Jon Stewart maybe if anything just
03:40 fix the problems with John's give him a thicker handle and just release the
03:44 exact same one does fit into his hand although because this hand is being
03:48 occupied by holding a ring it only is gonna fit on this one side just pick up
03:52 your finger your figure not finger pick up your figure and just pry that fingers
03:57 away from the palm and then just take the handle of the lantern and just fit
04:01 it in place mind you of course would be helpful if you actually have it fit
04:05 flipped around the right way and you can have the figure display that way looks
04:09 good colors are also pretty close to between the lantern and his costuming if
04:13 again you don't mind the fact that the colors aren't gonna match I don't really
04:16 want to spend a lot of time talking about that I'm probably sure sure I'm
04:18 gonna probably mention a couple more times the paint is really handled nicely
04:21 here first of all with Hal Jordan's face probably would help to bring in the
04:25 original Kenner one so you guys can see while the other one was a lot paler a
04:29 little bit more pinker this one goes more the approach of kind of a little
04:33 more of a yellowish tint to it I can't say that I dislike it I'm just again so
04:38 used to kind of more the paler complexion for the original Kenner one
04:41 but I think like the colors work really well it seems almost as if like when
04:44 they approached Hal Jordan that they wanted to give him a little bit more of
04:47 a vintage look to it which is somewhat ironic because comparing him with the
04:50 original vintage figure the original vintage figure had much paler colors you
04:55 can see like body wise they're almost similar I mean obviously this one's just
04:58 a little bit tad shorter the costume is very designed very similarly you can see
05:03 like even between like the two bodies abdomen areas like the muscles are about
05:07 the same it's almost as if like they had their hands that may be trying to grab
05:10 the original molds because like if looking at the molds they're very much
05:14 identical with one another they also as well still retain it's still in double
05:18 knee the knee articulation which like the original vintage figure would have
05:21 also had as well just that the original toy granted would have been able to
05:24 squeeze the legs and he would be able to swing his arm forward and back to
05:28 project out the beam of his of his ring the newer Green Lantern doesn't do that
05:31 it only just it has the articulation but it just doesn't have a working gimmick
05:35 but again like the face sculpt is really good on this one like the mask is
05:38 painted fairly well get the white eyes there as well and the nice white emblem
05:43 there in the front of his chest I would have normally expected a spot a little
05:47 bit of paint problems here especially on the gloves the gloves look like they're
05:50 nicely painted they're actually a separate piece from the rest of the from
05:54 the rest of the forms you can actually run your finger along and feel a groove
05:58 between the two also down below here as well on the boots the boots are not just
06:02 painted on top of the legs so they would have had to dedicate obviously a mold
06:06 here for the lower legs so like these legs I'm sure aren't gonna be able to
06:09 use with other figures unless those characters just happen to have boots just
06:13 because again like they would have had to sculpt them in place peggles in the
06:16 undersides their feet but again like none of these figures do have actual
06:19 display stands that come included with them but the articulation here for Hal
06:22 Jordan is the same with all the other new superpowers figures heads rotate all
06:25 the way around because again he has no gimmick you can easily rotate his arms
06:29 all the way around on both sides and again like you can either have them in
06:33 seated positions for some of the vehicles that we've also gotten from the
06:36 line so far but you can also as well bend the knees a nice little nice nice
06:40 treat to see that they have still a bend in their knees still again like the
06:43 figures are limited on articulation but I think the charm and the line still
06:47 continues to be that they look like the original vintage toy finally I now get
06:50 the chance to say that and show you the proof is in the pudding here's again
06:54 what he looks like with the original Kenner one nice update to the two
06:57 figures you know again stating the same thing I already had stated like the
07:01 colors I like again like I don't mind the greens the green and the black and
07:06 the white work really well for Hal Jordan had Hal Jordan being the first
07:09 superpowers Green Lantern Corps member that we gotten but we can't have that
07:13 conversation because unfortunately he'd already been you know he's next in line
07:17 after Jon Stewart and Jon Stewart being the colors that they set with him you
07:22 would just think again like they would have matched the colors more over to
07:24 John's to Green Lantern Hal Jordan here because again like to look at them I
07:28 even had commended them in the in the review of Jon Stewart that they had
07:31 matched nicely the greens with him and the original Hal Jordan and then
07:35 unfortunately now with the new Hal Jordan great-looking figure just the
07:39 greens though are sadly off now I would never make the claim that the new
07:42 McFarland superpowers line would replace the original one from Kenner because I
07:46 would still be on a hunt for looking for those original vintage figures if I can
07:49 find ones at a good price and in pretty decent condition yeah I would still I
07:54 would still track those down in a heartbeat but what I do like about this
07:57 line is it gives opportunities to collectors that maybe haven't had the
08:00 chance to collect the original Kenner ones or just like myself find them way
08:04 too expensive these are a nice little replacement a nice updated replacement
08:08 to those original toys the newer one that we get for Hal Jordan here looks
08:12 enough like the original toy that you get you can see where the influences
08:16 come from and yet they still ran with the idea and gave him his own updated
08:20 spin on it the only thing about the updating spin of it is that the colors
08:24 just don't again match to Jon Stewart if this was the only time so far we've
08:28 gotten a Green Lantern it would be one thing but having already again
08:32 established the color palettes with Jon Stewart I would just think that they
08:35 would have matched the colors a little bit more closer John to Hal Jordan
08:38 honestly really between the two I like the colors better I feel for Hal Jordan
08:43 I just like these greens and they work a lot better with with the black and the
08:46 white but it just won't look as good displaying on the shelf with Stewart
08:49 what do you guys think of the color color scheme that they went with for
08:52 Hal Jordan do you like this one or do you like more the colors that we went we
