00:00 From the war born to the rulers of the region of Ultramar.
00:03 Here's a look at the brand new McFarlane toys.
00:05 Warhammer 40,000 the Ultramarines Terminator.
00:09 [Music]
00:16 [Sound of opening box]
00:22 They are amongst the greatest heroes of mankind,
00:25 clad in abominable tactical dreadnought armor.
00:28 The right to use this suit of armor is the highest honor uphold to the veteran space marine.
00:32 Equipped with teleportation devices,
00:34 Terminators can deploy almost anywhere on the battlefield.
00:37 No foe is safe from their assault.
00:39 Teleporting in from the battle terrain before of course we get a closer look at the brand
00:43 new McFarlane toys Warhammer 40,000 Ultramarines Terminator.
00:46 I'd like to thank the folks over at McFarlane toys that were kind enough to provide this
00:49 sample we can have a look at.
00:51 In a second I'll also bring in the Space Wolves Wolf Guard,
00:53 a previous figure we've looked at also from the Warhammer 40,000.
00:56 But backtracking though just a little bit,
00:58 the Ultramarines Terminator stands exactly eight inches in height,
01:02 or the figure is 20 centimeters tall.
01:04 Yes, speaking of the Space Wolves,
01:06 let's slide over the Ultramarine that we're about to have a look at,
01:09 and bring the earlier looked at Wolf Guard.
01:11 You can see there's a size difference definitely between the Ultramarines Terminator
01:15 and the earlier looked at Space Wolves Wolf Guard.
01:18 There's also quite a different color variation as well.
01:20 Where they went the more lighter pastel colors of those Space Wolves,
01:23 they definitely give us a much darker approach with the blue that they used here for the Ultramarine.
01:28 While the Terminator is bigger, the figure does get less accessories.
01:31 The Space Wolf did benefit from having the axe as well as the additional firearm,
01:35 and then of course had the backpack.
01:37 We have to subtract a few of those things when we get the Ultramarines Terminator.
01:40 The figure though, granted, still comes in clue with a trading card.
01:42 The trading card does depict of course the Ultramarine featured on the front,
01:46 blasting away his firearm in battle.
01:48 On the back though it does give us a nice little paragraph read you can read for yourself.
01:53 Happens to also be the same thing I read at the beginning of this review.
01:55 Don't tell everybody or they're going to want me to do it for every single review.
01:59 I do it for every single review.
02:01 We're going to be adding this though shortly to the trading card sheet that I'm already collecting
02:04 the Warhammer.
02:05 I don't actually have these paired along with the DC Multiverse.
02:08 I kind of keep those in separate sections for obvious reasons,
02:11 but really nice little artwork there featured on the front of the card.
02:14 Let's move that to the side.
02:16 The figure also comes in clue with the display stand that isn't that much different.
02:19 In fact, it's exactly the same one as we got with the Wolf Guard.
02:23 Printed though nicely on the front,
02:24 we've got the Warhammer 40,000 logo on an otherwise all black display stand that has
02:28 one only peg at the top corner that can plug into either one of the feet of the Ultramarine.
02:33 The figure also comes in clue with a gun,
02:35 and I was trying my best to place exactly what kind of gun it was.
02:38 I thought it was maybe for example the Storm Bolt, but I don't think it's that.
02:43 If anybody has any ideas, let me know down below in the comments section.
02:46 It does sort of look a little like the Storm Bolter, but again, I could be completely wrong.
02:51 I do like the use of the additional gold that they've got here on the side
02:53 that mimics of course the skull and the wings,
02:56 something that we'll also carry over as well when we look at the armor here for the Ultramarine.
03:00 A nice looking gun though.
03:01 It's not very heavy though.
03:02 None of it seems to be removable, so you can't take the undercarriage of the gun off,
03:06 but it's a nice gun nonetheless.
03:08 It does fit into his hand, although it only fits in one hand.
03:11 The other hand is just a gestured hand, so it only gives you really one option to work with.
03:15 I will say though, getting the figure out of the packaging,
03:17 as I do my best to get the gun out in his hand,
03:20 I noticed that the hands, specifically the arms, are really loose on the figure.
03:24 Let's go ahead and get the gun first of all in his hand.
03:26 I'll talk more about that in a moment.
03:28 Yet the arm, you'll see especially the shoulder, is very loose on the figure.
03:32 I'm going to see if I can go in there.
03:33 I'm sure I could probably add a little bit of floor polish
03:36 if anyone happens to have any other ideas for tightening up joints.
03:39 Do by all means let me know.
03:41 But I do notice though that the arm is very loose,
03:43 and it just happens to be the case that this arm has to do all the work of holding the gun
03:47 that it's only going to develop even more looseness over time.
03:50 And it's very, very loose.
03:52 I did also notice like some of the joints on this figure,
03:55 like specifically his torso, this one arm also is loose.
03:59 And the legs aren't as bad,
04:01 although there's a lot more plastic happening here for the lower legs.
04:04 Let's go ahead right now, remove the gun.
04:05 We'll just put it off to the side.
04:06 Getting a closer look though at the Ultramarines Terminator.
04:09 Usually when I think of Warhammer 40,000,
04:11 this is the character I think of, or specifically the Ultramarines.
04:15 The clunky looking armor that they wear, the dreadnought suits is a nice touch.
04:19 And it does make for a much heavier figure when you compare it, say, against the Space Wolves.
04:23 Space Wolves was a generally heavy figure.
04:25 Well, it was heavier more to the top than it was maybe to the bottom.
04:28 It seems the opposite way around actually here for the Ultramarines,
04:31 where he actually doesn't feel as heavy to the top,
04:33 but he feels a lot more heavier down below where all the plastic I'm sure is probably centered.
04:37 One thing I did also really like about the figure is the head sculpt that they sculpted for it.
04:42 Giving him that sort of mask that they wear with this particular suit.
04:45 I really like the use of the white.
04:47 The white allows the chance for the red on the eyes to really pop.
04:50 Kind of looks a little bit like a vacuum cleaner face.
04:53 Something similar maybe to like Darth Vader, but really nice sculpted face.
04:57 The paintwork is really good here.
04:59 The paintwork isn't cleanest on the side where you can see he's got the skull crest.
05:04 The crest is painted in gray,
05:05 but you can see there's a few little areas where the blue underneath is sort of
05:09 bleeding its way through.
05:10 I feel if anything, while it's nicely sculpted,
05:12 and I'm glad to see that they actually did sculpt this on the shoulder rather than actually just
05:15 printing it on,
05:16 I do wish that a little bit of paint was afforded to it because it's a really nice looking logo.
05:21 Of course, he does have then the skull and the wings on the side.
05:23 That's actually one thing I really think is painted well on the figure.
05:26 Whether I do feel like there are a few little areas I feel that paint could be a little bit
05:30 cleaner,
05:31 the skull with the wings in the front certainly isn't one of those things I feel needs a touch
05:34 up.
05:35 The gold is really nicely handled here.
05:36 I like as they also added some additional brushing of silver.
05:40 It's something though that the Space Wolves really wasn't afforded
05:43 because the pastel blue really wasn't shared with any other color on the figure.
05:47 Like they didn't add any contrasting colors.
05:49 They didn't add a darker wash or a lighter wash or even scratching surfaces on the metal
05:53 instead of what they did here on the actual Ultramarines.
05:56 So they painted nicely little silver there.
05:58 It's actually the silver carries over down into the abdomen area too.
06:01 It's just though a shame that the abdomen is as loose as it is on my figure.
06:05 Of course, he does have the symbol there also on the other side of his shoulder as well.
06:08 These shoulders, by the way, do have postability independently so you can move these around.
06:13 Some nice gold that he also has there on the forearms.
06:15 Now the small skulls printed here on the forearms are molded, I should say, rather on the forearms.
06:20 Again, very nicely done.
06:21 The gold seems to be the best thing that's painted well on the Ultramarines.
06:24 While again, like all the things like the gray, the gray could I think I have used maybe
06:28 just a little bit more of it.
06:29 But again, you've got that carried over symbol that he also has there on his shoulder as
06:32 well,
06:32 which again is molded.
06:34 It isn't simply just printed over top of the knee pad.
06:36 You've got some scuffing of silver added down below here by the boot.
06:40 He does also have the phrase there printed on the side.
06:43 It's a little hard to in fact make out exactly what it says.
06:46 I know I also need to get myself glasses so it makes things a little bit.
06:49 From what I can see at least, it says, "What is the terror of..."
06:53 I think that's death.
06:54 And then from there, of course, you may have a better time of reading this out.
06:59 Or if you just know it off by heart, you probably can also let me know as well.
07:02 He's got some skulls there also on the sides of his form.
07:04 A really nice big clunky bot.
07:06 I really like the way that they've given and sculpted the suit here for the
07:09 Ultramarine Terminator.
07:10 Then he's also got a couple of little hoses there on the back that actually connect the
07:14 bottom of his gauntlet here to the top of his bicep.
07:17 You don't have to worry as much because, of course, when we look at the articulation on
07:20 the figure, he has just enough clearance.
07:23 But the neat thing about it though is when you hinge his elbows, I know we'll talk more
07:26 about the figure's articulation in a second,
07:28 you'll see the way that the hose actually slides inside the cavity of the form.
07:32 So when you are moving the arm back and forth,
07:34 there's nothing that's actually pulling on this.
07:37 Because that was one of my biggest worries was getting this figure out of the packaging
07:40 was that I knew seeing it that the rope was way too small.
07:43 The little cording I thought would be ripping easily if I was to hinge the elbow back and
07:47 forth.
07:48 But you can see the way they very smartly have slid it in,
07:51 hidden inside, like I said, the side section of his form.
07:54 Really nice looking way they've done that.
07:56 Of course, when we spin the figure around also here on the back, you get the vents there
07:59 on the back of the figure's body.
08:01 Not really much in the way of paint.
08:02 You'll see, in fact, most of it actually is on the front of the figure.
08:05 And then, of course, he also has the little coiled suit or the inner suit that's underneath
08:09 it.
08:10 This looks almost like it'd be softer plastic, but it's just as hard of a plastic as everything
08:15 else that's around it.
08:16 For the figure's articulation, going back first to his head sculpt, the Terminator does
08:20 move back and forth and up and down.
08:22 So while I would have thought looking at this that it wouldn't have any bit of motion at
08:26 all, like I thought if anything, I'd be able to probably just do this and that's about
08:30 it.
08:30 But you can actually move the head up and down, although it's a little harder to kind
08:34 of get in there because, of course, he's got so much stuff happening around him.
08:37 The shoulders do rotate all the way around, so no problem's really there.
08:40 The shoulders, again, on mine at least, are a little on the looser side.
08:45 If you have, lucky enough, found this figure and got it for your collection, let me know
08:48 if you've also had loose shoulders and loose legs.
08:51 Again, the legs aren't as bad, but notice right away that the shoulder for the Ultramarine,
08:55 very, very loose.
08:56 The shoulder is also one thing, speaking of which, that is on its own dedicated ball joint.
09:01 I don't know if you guys can actually see it or not.
09:02 Let me just move this back just a little bit.
09:04 There is actually a post right here that attaches the shoulder to a ball joint on the tops of
09:09 the figure's arm.
09:10 So this does also move back and forth as well.
09:12 You can kind of move it around.
09:13 You can also shift it or slide it back around as well if you wanted to.
09:18 The figure does have a swivel.
09:20 The swivel isn't so much here.
09:21 Well, he has it in the bicep, but then he's also got a secondary one right here in the
09:25 arm or right where the bicep, I guess it is really all one piece.
09:29 The figure does have a single hinge only in the elbow, but again, I appreciate the fact
09:32 that this part of the hose isn't tight enough that it's going to rip.
09:36 Nice, smart way of actually engineering it where this can actually slide inside the form.
09:41 Now, the hands do rotate.
09:42 This hand does not, but this hand does.
09:45 I don't know why.
09:46 Again, it just may have something to do with the fact that they probably just molded the
09:49 relaxed hand as just part of the gauntlet.
09:51 You can even really see the way they've molded the thumb right to it.
09:54 That's, there's no way really that that's going to be able to move.
09:56 This hand though, on the other hand, literally does do rotate back and forth.
10:01 Again, he is loose really on the top of the torso.
10:03 He shouldn't really be as loose as he is immediately getting him out of packaging.
10:07 The figure does also have a secondary ball joint, but the problem with it though is if
10:11 you're looking at the way the abdomen is, I feel like I want to keep straightening out
10:15 the abdomen.
10:15 See how it's kind of just leaning slightly to the side.
10:19 I keep wanting to fix it and every time that I do, when I go to start to move the figure
10:23 around, it sort of starts to shift this over again.
10:26 The figure does have a, again, a ball joint at the base where the abdomen meets the waist.
10:30 Speaking of the waist though, the legs do split out, but he has these, let me just move
10:33 these out of the way.
10:34 He's got these skirtings on the sides.
10:36 Now again, the way that they attach them, they're actually attached by the belt.
10:39 They're not attached to the thigh.
10:41 So it doesn't mean that when you're moving the thighs out, these are going to get in
10:44 the way, at least from being attached to the top of the legs, but they are still going
10:47 to be getting in the way if you want to do a full splits.
10:49 If you're hoping is to get the ultramarine terminator to do a Van Damme splits, it just
10:54 isn't going to, isn't going to work.
10:56 Now you can take, of course, the legs, move forward and back.
10:58 The figure does have a swivel at the top of the thigh.
11:00 The figure also has only possessing a single hinge in the knee.
11:04 And then he also has a really good ankle pivot.
11:06 I was really surprised that he would actually have as much as he did, but it does move up
11:10 and down and it does move back and forth as well.
11:12 Going back to something I'd mentioned earlier by bringing in the display stand.
11:15 Of course, he does have located on the bombs of his feet, not one, but two peg holes.
11:19 So you can have the figure displayed that way if you want.
11:21 I don't think he has necessarily an issue standing.
11:23 Although if you wanted to have him, for example, in a running post, see there's the abdomen.
11:27 It's just shifted a little bit.
11:29 There we go.
11:29 Shimmy it back to where it's supposed to be.
11:32 Yeah, I don't think I have an issue really necessarily with the ultramarines terminator
11:35 standing properly.
11:36 So you may not even need yourself a display stand.
11:39 Granted though, if you did want to have the figure in a running pose or a gesture pose
11:42 or something other more interesting than what we're looking at right now, maybe yes, bring
11:45 in the display stand because it will certainly come in handy.
11:48 Then of course we can bring back in the earlier look that figure that we've already had a
11:51 look at the Warhammer 40,000 Space Wolves Wolf Guard.
11:54 Yeah, I like this line.
11:55 Again, when I think though of Warhammer 40,000, the figure I usually think of right away or
12:00 the grouping, the subcategory team I would think of right away would be ultramarines.
12:07 It's always the ones that are always advertised it seems on strategy guides.
12:10 And when I would go to like Game Shop Workshop back in the day, Game Shop Workshop, what
12:14 was the name?
12:14 Game Workshop back in the day.
12:16 And I was watching other people playing Warhammer 40,000.
12:19 It was always the character I thought of right away was the ultramarines.
12:22 I think the ultramarines has been handled nicely from McFarlane Toys.
12:25 They have at least added some additional wear and tear to the suit.
12:29 That wasn't necessarily the case when we looked at the Wolf Guard.
12:31 But unfortunately though, one of the things that it does benefit from having additional
12:35 paint, it then sorely lacks in by not having proper tighted joints.
12:39 While this figure did have much tighter joints in the shoulders, the legs, the knees and
12:43 all that.
12:43 Unfortunately though, giving this guy the packaging.
12:45 Yeah, he's really, really loose on the top.
12:47 Well, he's loose in the torso right away.
12:49 He's loose in the shoulders and he's also starting to develop a little bit looseness
12:53 from the tops of the thighs.
12:54 But other than that though, I mean, I mean, I say other than that, other than that, it
12:58 is still a nice looking figure and one that definitely will be going on the shelf with
13:01 the already looked at Space Wolves.
13:03 I decided to make use of the display stand that came with the Ultramarines Terminator.
13:06 I mean, we get one anyway, so why not use it?
13:09 Todd and his team, McFarlane Toys that is, is one of the only few companies I can think
13:13 of that include display stands with every one of the figures that they still continue
13:16 to release.
13:17 Whether you may end up having a big stack of stands that you never use, I'd rather
13:21 have extra stands than ever needing stands and I don't have them available.
13:25 The figure does benefit from having one and he has enough shelf appeal already with a
13:29 big clunky dreadnought suit that he has and he wears.
13:32 Why not put him in a more running pose?
13:34 I think it does make the figure showcase a little bit nicer on the shelf.
13:37 Unfortunately though, I don't know the longevity of having the figure displayed
13:40 always like this.
13:40 The figure has already developed overly loose shoulders, specifically, and it had to be
13:45 the one arm that was holding the gun.
13:47 Like it couldn't have been the other arm.
13:48 I'm going to see if I can go in there and add a little bit of floor polish.
13:51 The problem with it though is that he has the shoulder pad in the way, but being that
13:54 the fact that the shoulder attaches with the ball joint, I'm sure I could probably
13:57 detach it to get into the joint and see if I can tighten up a little bit more.
14:01 I would like to have this guy at least with his arm drawn out like this with the gun
14:05 displayed on the end of his hand.
14:07 But again, with the looseness that he already has, and I had to stress the fact that it
14:10 may only be on my figure's arm.
14:12 It may not be on everybody's.
14:13 So if you were lucky enough already to pick up the Warhammer 40,000 Ultramarines Terminator,
14:17 let me know if you've also had similar issues with some of the joints being overly loose.
14:22 Despite its loose joints, it's a figure like, again, does show nicely on the shelf.
14:27 It has a big shelf appeal to him.
14:28 I like the clunky look to the armor.
14:30 And even though the armor isn't as heavy as I was expecting, it seems to have certainly
14:34 a lot more weight from the lower half than the earlier looked at Space Wolves Wolf Guard.
14:39 What do you guys think of the Ultramarines Terminator?
14:41 Let me know down below in the comments section.
14:43 Big thank you once again to the folks over at McFarland Toys that did come through and
14:46 provide the sample of the brand new Warhammer 40,000 Ultramarines Terminator.
14:50 If you guys did enjoy this video, why not throw it a like.
14:52 If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing and you'd like to stick on board,
14:56 stay on board for more Warhammer 40,000 reviews.
14:58 I can tell you we will be looking at some more.
15:01 I'd like to think that you're also coming back to this channel for other reasons.
15:04 But if right now the only main reason that you're coming back is to see more Warhammer
15:08 40,000, rest assured more will be coming your way.
15:11 As always guys, thanks for watching.
15:13 See you guys next time.
