00:00 whatever Kurt may have lost with a limb he gained with a statue here's a look at
00:04 the diamond select premier collection Marvel's spider-man's lizard resin
00:08 statue
00:11 a decorated wartime surgeon and gifted scientist dr. Kurt Connors became
00:34 obsessed with reptiles ability to regrow lost limbs after losing his own arm in
00:38 battle after countless hours of research he developed a lizard DNA based serum
00:43 that he hoped would regenerate his missing arm however upon testing upon
00:47 himself a horrible transformation occurred though Connors did regrow his
00:51 lost arm the formula continued its effect changing the doctor into a
00:54 monstrous reptilian creature driven by animalistic hunger and savage instinct
00:59 ever at odds with his own grizzly alter-ego Connors desperately seek
01:04 secure hoping his next transformation into the terrifying lizard will be his
01:08 last this approximately 11 inch tall resin statue of the lizard is based on
01:12 his comic book appearance and features a high level of detail and exacting paint
01:17 applications is limited to 3,000 pieces worldwide before looking at the scales
01:23 the tails and everything in between let's grab the tape measure and see how
01:26 tall the premier collection Marvel's spider-man's lizard statue stands not a
01:30 relatively new statue but still when I wanted to look at here on this channel
01:33 the lizard statue though if we look at the arm being the highest point on it
01:37 you're looking at it being about 11 and a quarter inches in height or it's gonna
01:41 be about 29 centimeters tall genetically altered or not generally is still the
01:46 case that the premier collection statues from diamond select all come in clear
01:49 with their certificate of authenticity and in the case of the premier
01:52 collection Marvel's spider-man lizard he also comes with one to indicate to you
01:56 that it's out of a very limited run of only 3,000 copies worldwide I have
02:00 noticed when it usually comes with the premier collection of resin releases
02:03 that they usually set out around that 3,000 mark worldwide the one that I
02:07 just happen to have here is out of 500 or 500 out of 3,000 it's a single
02:12 printed card but one I usually like to have displayed along with the statues
02:15 when I have them on the shelf if I don't have as much quarters to work with and
02:19 of course usually I just put the certificate back in the box it's always
02:22 good to kind of hold on to the certificate if down the road you decide
02:24 you want to part ways with it I will never be planning to part ways with the
02:27 lizard here it's too cool of a statue to miss now the statue has him actually
02:32 perched on top of what seems to be a sewer grades picking carefully up the
02:36 statue it's a lot heavier than you probably would imagine just because
02:40 again it's cast here in all resin the front and the back of the statue
02:43 actually mimic very nicely the open area of a gate probably leading inside of a
02:47 sewer lair the actual sewer itself has been very successfully cast here in
02:52 resin along with of course all the rest of the statues can be perched on top of
02:56 it but I really like the way they've actually painted and sculpted the rock
02:59 facing all these individual bricks some of actually have been broken off
03:02 probably not from the lizard himself but just over wear and tear and time of
03:06 having these rocks just being out if we spin this are actually around now this
03:10 is of course obviously the front that has the lizard on top but if you spin
03:13 around though to the back you'll see that it's just as detailed as it is to
03:17 the front it's one of those cases really where you can actually have these
03:20 statues and diamond does this really well when it comes to resin releases
03:23 that they usually make them at 360 statues in other words you could put
03:28 them in places where the statues will be seen from all sides the coloring again
03:31 is really nicely done on this for the obvious reasons of this guy being a
03:34 little bit more fragile just take my word for it that on the bottom of the
03:38 base that I'm tapping at right now it would actually have the same numbered
03:42 sequence of 500 out of the 3000 just for again I didn't want to tip this
03:46 upside down for the risk that the statue may potentially break of course this all
03:51 being cast in resin it's also been hand painted and a really nicely hand painted
03:55 statue of lizard we actually get it teeters though a little bit though in
03:58 the torso I don't know if it's just by the way they actually assembled the
04:02 statue together that maybe it isn't one all one piece together that maybe perhaps
04:06 the shirt was attached on to the actual sleeves or the actual forearms of the
04:10 lizard and probably attached on to the torso it teeters just only by a little
04:15 bit but not to the point where I feel like it's broken the statues face of the
04:19 lizard of course nicely detailed there the only thing I would really say though
04:23 when it comes to the actual paint work for the lizard while so nicely done here
04:27 in the green the sections of the eyes of course really glistening with a very
04:30 bright gold and the little slit that he has for his eye I feel like both his
04:34 interior of his tongue or interior of his mouth as well as actually the
04:38 sockets of the eyes could have really afforded to have a little bit of a
04:41 darker color they have really relied on just the green that's around it if they
04:45 had only gone in and say for example darken that up on the back actually up
04:49 the box they have a much more darker green almost even borderline black I
04:53 think it would have probably worked a little bit better to darken the areas
04:56 around the eyes just so the eyes would pop a little bit better than what they
04:59 actually do the same can also really be said for the as well the tongue while
05:03 the tongue looks really good the interior of the mouth really is about
05:06 the same color if they had just toned the notch down by just one just one
05:11 darker shade I feel it would really help to bring bring in more contrasting
05:15 colors so you'd have like for example the interior of his mouth be a little
05:18 bit darker of this pink so that the tongue and the teeth around it would
05:22 stand it a little bit better than what it is he's actually got a really neat
05:25 pose to him and one of the reasons why I really wanted to get this statue was
05:28 I've always been a big fan of the lizard I didn't really like the lizard
05:32 necessarily in the original spider-man amazing spider-man movie just because
05:35 that version of lizard had him more with the rounded snout I always really think
05:39 that lizard should always have a very predominantly long jaw and it works
05:43 really well here for the statue release of him of course the colors that you
05:46 would expect Kurt Connors the half like the purple for example with the torn off
05:49 knees and ripped away sections of the pants have been again nicely done here
05:53 and of course he still has a lab jacket on how his lab jacket still remains
05:57 pretty clean despite the fact he's probably walking around in a sewer lair
06:00 is beyond me but they have though if I spin this around very carefully you can
06:04 see that they've kind of darkened the areas around the wrinkles just to bring
06:07 some of those folds out into the foreground and of course we tilt this up
06:11 slightly you can see underneath there he does have is of course very nicely
06:14 scaled a tail that wraps very coolly around not only starting from of course
06:19 the back of the actual statue but then wrapping its way around to the front
06:23 it's a statue that certainly does show well from all sides one of the things I
06:27 really like though about the premier collection statues that has also really
06:30 been doing it well also with the gallery PVC statues we've been looking at here
06:34 on this channel as well but the benefit of these of course is the higher end
06:37 higher ticket price I think for a ticket price that allows us at least to get a
06:41 resin release of the lizard yes to be honestly fair this guy could have also
06:44 been released as a PVC gallery statue but really where the money is where I
06:48 think a lot of the work ends up going into is when they start to do the
06:51 premier collections and the lizard looks fantastic a little bit biased of course
06:55 by the fact that I'm just a big fan of the lizard but I think he actually
06:58 turned out to be a really nice neat looking statue granted yes he is gonna
07:01 be a little bit more expensive than your traditional PVC gallery statues that
07:05 diamonds been churning out as well but if you have the funds available if you
07:08 have the budget set aside definitely pick up this lizard because it's a great
07:12 showpiece to be putting on your shelf the lizard is a lot like man bat for me
07:17 not just the fact that you've got a scientist that's meddling around with
07:19 serums they shouldn't be playing around with ultimately altering his own DNA but
07:23 also the fact that neither one of those characters are ones that I really put
07:26 high on my list of all-time favorite villains for that respected superhero
07:29 but ones that are I always find interesting when they are featured in
07:32 stories lizard is one of those cases where spider-man isn't dealing
07:35 necessarily with a human with human thought process rather instead he's
07:38 dealing with a feral creature and because of that he has to alter his
07:42 technique a little bit differently he's not one of a character that also is one
07:45 just to stand around so obviously when it comes to a statue release of him
07:49 they'd really want to put lizard in it's sort of a crouching or about to leap
07:52 position you can tell really by the way these on top perched on top of that
07:56 sewer system and the way he's got his one arm extended like this he's likely
07:59 gonna be leaping down at the wall crawler hopefully the wall crawler would
08:03 even know he's coming one thing I really like about this statue not only is the
08:06 perfect pose that they put the figure in but also as well like the colorings on
08:10 this guy work really well sure yes his jacket could have been a little bit
08:13 dirtier but you really don't want to make it too filthy the white contrast
08:17 works really well well against the green scaled skin that he has speaking of the
08:21 skin though something I did mention in the review here of lizard so I do wish
08:24 that they could have added a little bit of darker contrast in colors he has a
08:27 lot of green but you can see like on the top of his tail for example he's got a
08:31 darker shadowing of that kind of in a grayish scheme in which they could have
08:35 brought some of that maybe into the socket area around his eyes he's also
08:38 got around his neck too if they had only just darken the area around his eyes I
08:42 think it would really allow those peepers to pop a lot better than what
08:45 they do but the form of the statue the tattered way they've sculpted the jacket
08:49 and again just a perfect display stand that they've got the figure on top of
08:53 it's a really great looking statue of lizard if you can ever find this one in
08:57 your stores now I say ever fine because it depends on really where you go to
09:01 your local comic book stores I would always certainly suggest as well if
09:04 you're in the market of wanting into premier collecting statues then I would
09:08 probably suggest going to a local comic book store just because again with these
09:12 being hand painted and hand hand cast resin you really want to make sure of
09:16 course that nothing is broken on any of the statues I had a little bit of
09:19 weeviling when it come came to actually lizards torso but I don't think anything
09:22 is broken I'm just gonna check again to make sure that's not the case it clearly
09:26 isn't from a showpiece standpoint something that's gonna be broken on
09:29 statue where I'm looking at it right away and think oh no and something is
09:31 actually broken on him he just seems to weevil a little bit and of course if you
09:35 are looking to get these statues for yourself so it's really kind of best
09:38 advised to try to find these at your local stores because if you ever happen
09:41 to get these home and something ends up being broken on them you can then go
09:44 back to the store where you purchased it from and see if you can get either an
09:47 exchange or a refund it's a lot harder to order them online because by the time
09:51 you get them back to your house you open up and go to put them on display and
09:53 you realize that something's broken on them then you have to go through the
09:56 process of course trying to reach out to the store online and having to ship them
09:59 back but if you are a big fan of lizard and a big fan of spider-man definitely
10:03 worth picking up if you can find this guy what's your favorite spider-man
10:06 villain let me know down below in the comment section lizard I don't know if I
10:09 would probably put in the top five maybe closer to the top ten but he's still an
10:14 interesting enough character what's your favorite who's your favorite spider-man
10:18 villain let me know down below in the comment section in the meantime though
