00:00I have a feeling these Comet characters want to rock and roll all night.
00:03Here's a look at the Mattel, Master Universe Origins, Stonedar, heroic leader of the Comet Warriors.
00:19Now landing. It's the man, the meteor, the Master Universe Origins, Stonedar action figure.
00:24The powerful but peaceful leader of the Rock People has 11 attached armor pieces that create his Rocky Comet form
00:29when folded.
00:30His included light blazer blaster can be held in hand to reluctantly battle baddies like Evil Lin,
00:36or plugged into a hex port on his torso to be used as a radar antenna in his Comet form.
00:40Want to get your hands on this G-Along?
00:42Well, good news. He's available still right now on Mattel Creation's website for the asking price of $33 Canadian.
00:48You live in the U.S.? Well, expect to pay a little less than that.
00:51But this is what I end up paying for him.
00:53Maybe had I waited a little while, though, right now they actually have a buy one, get one 50%
00:58off.
00:59I would imagine, though, that's not just relating to the Rock People.
01:02As for how tall the figure's going to stand, he's very similar in size to Rockon.
01:06I prefer to call him Rokon myself.
01:08Because of that, he's going to be about 5 inches in height, or about 13 centimeters tall.
01:13First debuting in the 1986 Massey Universe page adverts,
01:16he happened to share the same page space as his fellow Rock person, Rokon.
01:20Again, I know most people tend to call him Rock, because, again, he's made of a rock.
01:25Similar, though, in size.
01:26He would maybe say, if anything, Rockon's just a tad bit taller because of the high collar behind him.
01:30The adverts in 1986 also happen to feature two of these characters that I'm bringing in right now.
01:35That happens to be Snoutspout and Extend-Dar.
01:39Along with his one accessory, Stone-Dar does include a mini-comic entitled Destroyer of Worlds.
01:44This gives us first a chance also to see inside the first appearance of Granita, which happens to be right
01:49up here.
01:50I hope, though, at some point, being that she's also advertised on the back of the packaging,
01:54let me just grab the card right now, there's Granita right there.
01:57So I would think that that means that we're eventually getting, I'm sure, a release of Granita.
02:02I can't wait for that.
02:03But Granita, though, is featured here, as you can see in the top corner.
02:07Again, you can also see some of the rock creatures that inhabit the world as well.
02:10And there's also Evil Lin.
02:12You know, again, when you're looking at the illustration, is this Lahey?
02:15It certainly does look like Lahey's work.
02:17I don't actually mind the way that they've drawn the rock people.
02:20And I think Evil Lin looks pretty bad.
02:22Bad being a good, of course, good.
02:24Nothing really is advertised on the back.
02:26However, though, they show this stickman person throwing arrows in the sky.
02:30Don't be throwing arrows at people.
02:31I would imagine those would be sharp.
02:33Also indicating, though, that you can recycle the mini-comic.
02:35But being that this is the only time I'm sure we're going to get the Destroyer of Worlds,
02:39I'm not going to be destroying the mini-comic at all.
02:42Instead, though, I'm going to move it off to the side.
02:44So the figure, though, does come included with, of course, his blaster.
02:47Now, his light blaster, his blazer blaster, can be attached by the hole that's featured on the front of the
02:53figure's torso.
02:54You can also have him holding it as a blaster as well.
02:57It actually, when you look at it, it's not that much really different than the one that we got from
03:01Rokon.
03:01So there's a peg at the back, and there's a peg at the bottom.
03:04The peg at the top actually plugs onto the front of his chest.
03:07And you can spin this around as well, if you'd like.
03:10Bringing Rokon in right now.
03:11I know it's Rokon.
03:12You can spin that also as well.
03:13And it works pretty much the exact same way.
03:17Untabbing his, untabbing here's Stonedars.
03:20Yeah, it does look like they're probably using...
03:22They're a little bit different from one another.
03:24But the way that they've actually got this little peg right here
03:26makes me almost feel like I would be able to plug it into the side.
03:30Maybe they are the same.
03:31You know what?
03:31Now that I'm looking at these, these are exactly the same.
03:33One just happens to be, though, in purple and gray.
03:36The other one, though, more in a bright, kind of like a cherry fruit by the foot.
03:40And the front spinning satellite dish is done here in gold.
03:44So yeah, again, you would be able to plug this really in the front.
03:47Or if you wanted to, you could also take that and put it into his hands.
03:50Because he has all these additional plates, what is a total of 11?
03:54You can take that and fit that into his hand.
03:56Although you can have a hard time trying to get it around his forearm plate.
03:59But he can actually hold that.
04:01I don't know, though, if he's really going to be wanting to be shooting anybody.
04:04You know, again, he's a peace-bearing leader, after all.
04:08But again, if you did want to have this held in his hand, you can also do that as well.
04:12Put that off to the side.
04:13Showing the two differences between the two characters, as you can see, though, Rakan, is much more treated here to
04:19the blue and the orange.
04:21Whereas Stonedar gets treated to all this glorious gold and blue.
04:25The face seems a little bit lighter.
04:27It actually looks like someone you would expect to see in the world of Tron.
04:30Man, I love Tron.
04:32Have I told anybody that lately?
04:34Not in the last five minutes?
04:35Not in the last two minutes?
04:38Okay.
04:38So it's been a while since I've said I've loved Tron.
04:41But looking at, though, the character's face, it definitely does have very much a Tron vibe to it.
04:45He has posability.
04:46I mean, a posability you'd expect on a normal Master Universe figure, it just, so much of it is bogged
04:52down by all the additional plates that he has on the back of his body.
04:55The spin, though, around Rakan, so you can see he's kind of got more of a metallic rock face.
04:59This one actually looks more like a meteor.
05:01They fold essentially the exact same way.
05:04So if you've folded it all Rakan, you'll be folding in a second Stonedar the exact same way.
05:09But again, like details on this guy, very much looks like the original vintage figure.
05:12I think while I didn't have Rakan as a kid, memory, and it's very vague, certainly when you become an
05:18adult,
05:18I have very distant memories, very vague memories of having this guy in my collection.
05:24And I remember the one arm here, from what I remember, did have this piece that was broken off.
05:30All these memories now just start flooding out the gates the moment I start doing a review of him.
05:34But again, like these plates, they're not necessarily poseable.
05:38I mean, you can't kind of move them around, but they're sort of really more stuck in place.
05:42The only one thing, in fact, you can kind of do is kind of rotate his arm to kind of
05:46get the plate on his forearm out of the way.
05:48But while again, I think the paint looks really good on the front of Stonedar equally,
05:52I mean, just look at all the stone that's on the back of him as well.
05:55It looks like all these just big giant craters, moon rock texturing.
05:59It just looks really neat.
06:00To fold this guy up, it's just a case of kind of lining everything up first.
06:04You kind of want to make sure that when you're moving this guy around.
06:07Now, I've heard some horror stories where people have had broken elbows.
06:12Knock on wood or knock on tabletop.
06:14I haven't had that happen just yet.
06:16But you want to want to make sure, though, if you have the guy's elbows bent,
06:19you want to kind of straighten things up.
06:21Line everything up and make sure that the arms are perfectly straight.
06:25Take the front of the half, front of his head and bring it down.
06:28Kind of rotate his arms around.
06:29You already kind of know the drill by now.
06:31Make sure these are kind of lined up.
06:33Make sure this is also lined up, too.
06:35So, again, like you kind of continue the same form.
06:38And then you just bring these around.
06:40I think he's actually a lot easier to fold up than rock on was.
06:44Is he as believable of a rock?
06:46Maybe yes.
06:47Maybe he's a little bit more of a believable rock.
06:48Just because, again, like he's got more of the things that you would look at
06:52represented as a rock and think, okay, you know what?
06:54I can believe that'd be a rock, even though there's blue all over there.
06:57How many blue rocks have...
06:58Okay, maybe there has been.
06:59People have seen blue rocks.
07:00We'll do the same thing here with rock on.
07:02Again, we'll just kind of move his arms.
07:04Make sure they're nice and straight.
07:05Line up everything here.
07:06Bring his head down like that.
07:09Bring these around.
07:10Bring these around.
07:11I feel like rock on, rock on, if you will.
07:15I feel like maybe the way that he transforms, again, if you want to really call it transformations,
07:20he doesn't seem as complete.
07:22Like there's a lot more visible gaps.
07:25Maybe even on the back as well, you can see.
07:27I feel like when you're looking at this and you're comparing with Stone Dar,
07:30Stone Dar feels a little bit more finished.
07:33Not that there's so much space.
07:34I mean, there are still obviously spaces.
07:36You can kind of really see the way that everything goes together.
07:39But I think he's much more believable, certainly, as a rock.
07:43And again, if you want to just fold it back up, just lift up his head.
07:46Bring his arms down.
07:47Bring his legs down.
07:48And then from there, just sort of rotate things until you get it the way that you want.
07:52So you can bring his legs to the back, for example, and bring these plates to the back.
07:56Just straighten out his feet.
07:57Bend his toes.
07:59And then we're just going to twist his arm.
08:00I like to twist his arm just so it looks like it's a little bit more broken up.
08:03And bend the elbows as well.
08:06And again, you can either go from displaying him then with the blaster here on the front of his chest.
08:10Or you can also put it into either one of his hands.
08:13But again, when you go to put it into his hands,
08:15you just want to make sure that that arm plate is just out of the way.
08:19For the figure's articulation, it's pretty much more the same.
08:22Should we maybe transform this guy back?
08:24If you're familiar with rock on, again, this guy's going to have the exact same levels of
08:27postability.
08:29Bring out the legs.
08:30Straighten out the legs.
08:31Straighten out the feet.
08:32And we'll just put rock on right here.
08:36To rock on.
08:37Let's go ahead, though, and look at the articulation here for Stonedar.
08:40So his head's going to be on a ball joint.
08:41The hard thing about that, though, is saying it's on a ball joint is fine and good.
08:45But there's not really much that you can do.
08:46Yeah, there's a hinge here.
08:47And it's actually a ratcheted hinge.
08:49So you can kind of feel it when you're bringing the head down.
08:52But the head does technically rotate, but it doesn't really rotate all that well.
08:56You can also rotate his arms all the way around.
08:58There is a hinge, so you can hinge them out, too.
09:00There is a hinge in the elbow.
09:02And again, oh, there goes rock on.
09:04There was the hinge in the elbow.
09:05And I think that was the issue that most people had with their figures that did have issues
09:09with their figures, that that hinge joint did snap because it was way too tight.
09:13Mine, again, doesn't seem too tight, but I can see how that could be an issue.
09:18You rotate the arm back and forth.
09:19The hands do also rotate and hinge back and forth.
09:22He's got a waist swivel.
09:24Legs go forward and back.
09:25They do split.
09:26I mean, obviously, there's safe to say there's going to be a little more limitations on this
09:29guy than a regular Massive Universe figure.
09:31Legs rotate back and forth.
09:32There's a hinge.
09:33I think probably the thing that's most hindered is the hinge on the back of his knee.
09:39But again, you can bend it back and forth, but not a whole lot, though.
09:42There's a little mild swivel there down below.
09:44And of course, you can hinge his ankle up and down and ankle rocket as well.
09:49All in all, it's a really nice looking figure.
09:51Like I grew up with the rock people.
09:53So for me, not rock lords, rock people.
09:56So for me now to finally have two of them instead of just the one, I kind of had a
10:00really
10:00sneaking suspicion that when they did release rock on that not far from that, we were also
10:04going to be getting a stoned are.
10:06I hope, though, I said earlier, I do hope that at some point we're also going to get
10:09Granita just because, again, like she is also featured.
10:12Sorry, not to startle you.
10:13She is also featured there on the back of the card.
10:16And generally, usually when it comes to Mattel releases, if any bit of advertising happens
10:20to be on the back or anywhere on the packaging, that usually is a telltale sign that we're
10:24going to be getting a subsequent eventual release of that figure coming out in plastic.
10:29Now that all the rock people are starting to surface, what likelihood would there be
10:33that Mattel may eventually release the heroic and evil Meteorbs?
10:37Oh, I love the Meteorbs.
10:39I had a couple as a kid.
10:40I mean, I wish I still had them.
10:41I had Comet Cat.
10:43Comet Cat was the fastest of the Meteorbs.
10:45And I think I also had Orbear.
10:47It was a bear.
10:48It was a orb.
10:49Just with how successful, though, the Meteorbs were, both evil and heroic, I don't think there
10:54would be any likelihood at all that Mattel's ever going to even chance the waters of releasing
10:59something like that that would eventually sit on pegs.
11:01Although they have released technically Stonedar and Rokon as both Mattel Creations, so perhaps
11:08what they could always really do is pack the heroic Meteorbs as one set and the evil Meteorbs
11:14as another set.
11:15And I can finally get back my Comet Cat and Orbear.
11:20Orbear.
11:21Hey, good news, everybody.
11:22Not the fact that the Meteorbs are going to be coming out, but more the fact that this
11:26I is available right now still on Mattel Creations' website at $33.
11:30That's what I paid.
11:31And I, being a Canadian collector, if you are a U.S. collector, you're probably going to
11:35be paying a little bit less than that.
11:36But the thing that's the most important to take note of is that right now, as of the time
11:40of doing this video, there's a buy one and get one at 50% off.
11:45So that hopefully does wet your whistle if you haven't had the chance to pick up a few
11:49of the Mattel Creations listings.
11:51Might be a good time right now to start circulating, going through all their website and figure out
11:56what exactly is part of the deal and make use of the deal while the deal is happening.
12:01What do you guys think of, what do you think of the Rock people, first of all?
12:04Did you ever have these as a kid?
12:06What do you think of Stonedar and Rock on?
12:08Let me know what you guys think of them down below.
12:10If you guys did enjoy this video, do it a saw and throw it a like.
12:12You guys want to stick around for more?
12:14So I do, yeah, certainly hope so.
12:16We might be leaving the world of Eternia and all the Rock people that live there right
12:20now, but there may be more videos, though, coming your way for the rest of this
12:23week.
12:23So I hope you guys are going to be coming back for that.
12:25As always, guys, thanks for watching.
12:27See you guys next time.
