00:00I don't really know who was piloting this platinum, but it somehow slipped under radar.
00:04Here's a look at McFarlane Toys, DC Multiverse, McFarlane Collector's Edition, Platinum Edition, Blackhawk.
00:26The post-crisis Blackhawk was Janos Pohaska, a Polish fighter pilot who fought in the Spanish Civil War.
00:31Following the fall of Poland, he traveled to the UK, where he became the commander of the secret Allied Blackhawk
00:36Squadron.
00:37Blackhawk's team stayed together after World War II and battled communists and supervillains.
00:42They subsequently served as both courier service Blackhawk Express and as part of the Checkmake organization.
00:48Pohaska's paint now being a little bit darker, he might have an easier time slipping past enemy lines.
00:53Before that, we get a closer look at McFarlane Toys Platinum Edition Blackhawk.
00:56Let me back it up just a bit and thank the folks over at McFarlane Toys.
00:59Yeah, they did provide this sample we could have a look at.
01:02For those taking the tally and watching this channel regularly, thank you for that, by the way,
01:06you know, though, that we've already looked at the regular version.
01:08Now we're, of course, going to be comparing that one with the one that we're getting now.
01:12As you can see now, instead of being more blue, he seems to be a whole lot more black.
01:16Because of that, though, the figure is also going to stand the same.
01:18You're looking at Blackhawk being about 7 inches in height or about 17 centimeters tall.
01:24A slight course correction when it comes to the color.
01:26Obviously, sliding this one over and mentioning already he's a whole lot more black.
01:30Here's what the original Blackhawk looked like.
01:32Same head sculpt, same body, same swappable options, same accessories, too.
01:37Same single gripping hand, too.
01:40We're going to talk about that.
01:41Let's first talk about this.
01:42The figure does come and clip with a circular black display stand that has the DC logo,
01:45the classic logo, branded down below.
01:48Off from that, in walking distance, there's the peg that can plug into either one of Blackhawk's boots.
01:53He does also happen to have the exact same trading card.
01:56And the same complaints I would make about the previous trading card,
01:58I could double it up again in mentioning about this one.
02:01I like the look of the card.
02:02I like that they've also added McFarlane Collector Edition on the side.
02:06What I don't really love about this is the fact that the border still continues to look to be like
02:10it's been cut completely off.
02:12With having yellow here and here and along the top,
02:15I feel like I should also have a yellow border down below here as well.
02:18It literally just looks like it came off the printing press and it was cut in the wrong place.
02:23And they should have allotted for a little extra leeway.
02:25Other than that, though, I really like the look of the card.
02:27The back of the card is exactly, again, the same.
02:31Janos Pohaska.
02:32And, of course, a nice little meaty read-up you can read for yourself.
02:34I've taken the liberty and luxury of doing it for you.
02:38Let's put that on the side.
02:39Okay, so the figure does come included with all of the same accessories as before.
02:43And we'll have a kind of look to doubling up and showing you guys the differences between the two.
02:47First things first, the figure does come included with his shotgun.
02:50Now, where did I put the shotgun on the other one?
02:53I had it right here, too.
02:56He had the shotgun.
02:57I'm not sure really where the other shotgun ended up being.
03:00This one looks like it's the exact same coloring, at least, as the other one.
03:03This might be the easier one to compare.
03:05M16 to M16.
03:07That does definitely look like they are exactly the same to one another.
03:11Maybe you could say that the Platinum Edition has a little bit more of a silver finish to the black.
03:15But I think, if anything, it's probably my own eyes playing tricks with me.
03:19Other than that, though, it looks like the exact same size guns.
03:21Same molding of guns, too.
03:23I know some could complain, too, that the size of the guns are maybe a little bit too big for
03:27the frame and the proportions of the figure.
03:29You know, I could say that, too.
03:30I mean, I think more so when you're looking at the M16 and probably, like, the shotgun.
03:34They do somewhat look like they're a little bit bigger than they really should be.
03:38The figure does also come included.
03:39One of my favorite accessories is the Tommy Gun.
03:42I still happen to have the Tommy Gun.
03:44Minus, of course, this one does.
03:45I've still got a piece of blasted tape on there.
03:48But the Tommy Gun and Tommy Gun look to be exactly the same.
03:51I don't have plans, really, to have this displayed with Janos.
03:54I think, if anything, I probably will end up displaying one with a Two-Face and the other with a
03:59Two-Face.
03:59That Two-Face, by the way, I'm just going to reach them.
04:02I had them all way over here.
04:03I should probably have grabbed them sooner.
04:05Here's the classic Two-Face.
04:06I mentioned this guy the last time we looked at Blackhawk.
04:09This guy, I think, has been really lacking the fact of not having a Tommy Gun.
04:13But now we've got a perfect Tommy Gun.
04:15Granted, though, to be fair, it is still a little bit on the bigger side.
04:18But at least he finally has himself a Tommy Gun.
04:20And now I have two.
04:21He does also come included with a pistol.
04:24There's no storage space anywhere on the figure's body, by the way, BTW, where you can actually put all these
04:28extra accessories.
04:29Had there maybe been a holster, for example, his pistol to go.
04:32But unfortunately, the figure doesn't have that.
04:34Dueling pistols.
04:36Comes included with this figure.
04:37But again, like the benefit of this Blackhawk, the same could be said for the other one.
04:41With having all these extra accessories.
04:43And now, unfortunately, still lacking another gripping hand.
04:46He has so many more to throw around.
04:48Don't literally throw them, whatever you do.
04:49But pass them around to other figures that have been missing these accessories for all the last couple of years.
04:55Lastly, though, the figure does also come included with his toupee.
04:58Now, this is the new toupee.
05:00This is the previous toupee.
05:01I would look at one and think that maybe this one's a little bit more of a darker blue.
05:05It has, I think, the makings of more of a black molded hairpiece.
05:09Just so happens, though, that they've gone in there as well and painted some of the stripes in blue.
05:13So this has, I think, a little bit more of a darker blue than this one has here.
05:18But you can see, like, they're the exact same hairpiece.
05:21We'll move those off to the side.
05:22Actually, we don't want to move this one too far away.
05:24Because we're going to want to swap the head out.
05:25Swap the hairpiece out in a second.
05:28Picking up now, Black Hawk with now his darker colors to bring back in the original one.
05:32I guess if you really did want to go with the classic look to Black Hawk, you're probably going to
05:37want to maybe still gravitate towards getting the blue one.
05:39The blue, I think, matches a little bit more to the classic colors he has in the comics.
05:43Although, you know, there's something to be said about this black.
05:46Boy, oh boy, does that ever make this figure pop.
05:47There are things that also I'm popping on this figure too.
05:50Like, for example, the Black Hawk's logo, as you can see featured on the front, is a little bit more
05:55of a gold.
05:56Whereas this, the original one, had more of a yellow.
05:58The snaps still seem to be the same color.
06:01I mean, obviously the jacket's going to be exactly the same too.
06:03Same pants.
06:04Different casting also in plastic.
06:06Same boots.
06:07The one thing that's different though about the figure is not necessarily the face.
06:10Again, I still think it looks like the Cappy from Total Recall.
06:12I think profile-wise, it's a really good head sculpt for Black Hawk.
06:17The one thing about though this is that it's not just cast really in black.
06:21Even though, when you look at really at the back of the figure, there's nothing at all for an additional
06:25wash.
06:26All of the extra highlights, for example, that they've put are more in the front of the figure.
06:30Now, I could make that valid argument that with the light really hitting it from the front like this,
06:34there really wouldn't be a need necessarily to start adding swipes of blue on the back of the figure's plastic.
06:39Adding it just where it needs to be, I think, is perfect.
06:41It misses it, unfunny enough, right here.
06:44But to be fair, I guess there's only just a couple of wrinkles that they probably could have put.
06:48Because like if you see it on his arms, for example, and we just move his arm out of the
06:52way,
06:52he has it down at the front of his jacket too.
06:55It's funny though that while he has it here, he has it nowhere here.
06:59Like there is a couple of wrinkles technically that could have gotten a little bit of that blue.
07:03One here, one here.
07:05I don't know if there's another one up at the top there.
07:07But I think it does kind of look a little strange that that's the only area that does seem to
07:12be deflecting all the extra paint.
07:13And I guess it's color too.
07:15I really like the look of the blue.
07:16I think it just adds a little bit more pizzazz to the figure.
07:19We've gotten Batman figures that have also done the same as well.
07:22The scarf still stays the same.
07:24I still think that's a fantastic head sculpt.
07:27I would hope that at the very least, if we can't agree on the fact that Blackhawk is a cool
07:31character,
07:32I hope at least we can agree on the fact that this figure is one of the better ones we've
07:36gotten recently from a face sculpt standpoint.
07:38Now if you don't like necessarily the fact he does have the cap, you can take the cap off and
07:42swap it out instead with the hair piece.
07:45Just hold on to the torso.
07:47Wiggle the head and actually the hair and the cap will come as one piece.
07:51So you just sort of pop that off.
07:53That looks a little awkward.
07:54Could you just imagine walking around in life with a big giant peg sticking out the top of your head
07:58and these slits on the side of your face?
08:01We're going to take the toupee though and we're going to slide it just down here.
08:06And I feel like there wasn't there like a robot comic at one point?
08:09He was always making jokes about being a robot while he pretended always to be the robot.
08:14It kind of reminds me of that comic robot.
08:16Does anybody even know what I'm even talking about?
08:19I feel like the hair piece, and I know right now I don't have it all the way on there,
08:22but I feel like the hair piece probably could have even gotten a little bit lower down.
08:26Also again, like one benefits of getting this figure and this one is that you can display one with the
08:31cap and one with the toupee.
08:33Something I also said in the previous review of Black Hawk 2, a perfect candidate I feel for Bruce Wayne
08:38head.
08:39You may have to then 86, obviously the captain's outfit here, and make it in favor of maybe like it's
08:44just a regular suit.
08:45A regular suit or maybe one with a trench coat would be a perfect way to use this head sculpt.
08:49But overall, like again, like the figure is going to be exactly the same, but I do think though the
08:53colors really work well for this figure.
08:55I think if I wanted to stick to being a classic character, this probably would be the better colors to
08:59go with.
09:00But I still feel like there's something to be said for the fact of now doing this all in black
09:03with all these nice little highlights in blue.
09:07Getting a closer look at the figure's articulation now.
09:09The head's going to be on our ball joint.
09:10It allows the head to do what's doing right now, rotating all the way around.
09:14Now his collar at least is far enough back that it doesn't get in the way of things when you're
09:19trying to turn the head.
09:20The head can also look up, up into the sky to see where the rest of his colleagues and comrades
09:26may be.
09:26You can also have his head looking down low, like the mission just failed.
09:31The head does rock back and forth too.
09:33The top of the torso is, this by the way, is all soft plastic.
09:38You may not be able to feel it for yourself, but take my word for it.
09:41It sinks in pretty far and you can actually kind of feel here.
09:44There's a joint, the top of the torso where that would bend.
09:47So it moves up and down.
09:48You can also rock it back and forth and you could technically turn it all the way around as well.
09:53The arms do rotate.
09:54Yes, they do all the way around.
09:56You can hinge them out as well.
09:58You know, they'd have to obviously remold a few little aspects on this,
10:02but I wonder if that could make a perfect rocketeer outfit.
10:05But I think with the rocketeer, maybe he doesn't have necessarily the collar,
10:08but I think the jacket, maybe not as long as this.
10:12Never mind.
10:13Scratch that idea.
10:15The arms do, again, rotate all the way around.
10:16No issues there.
10:17Again, you've got that T pose going.
10:19Swivel in the bicep.
10:20Double hinge on the elbows.
10:22And the hands rotate all the way around.
10:24We haven't yet discussed the elephant in the room.
10:26You're going to talk a little bit about the fact that,
10:28yeah, the figure only still has one gripping hand.
10:31Why does he only have one?
10:33Why does he have the abundance of accessories that he does?
10:36And then to give him a closed fist on the other.
10:38I know it's good for punching bad guys,
10:41but I feel like punching the wall because the figure doesn't come included with another gripping hand.
10:45He's going to be teased by having all these extra guns to use.
10:48And yet he sadly still only has one hand to hold those accessories.
10:53The legs do split.
10:54And when they split, they make this sound.
10:56Sounds like cracking like a lobster tail.
10:58The legs move forward.
10:59And yes, they do move back.
11:00There is a split technically on the bottom jacket of Blackhawk.
11:03So it does allow a little bit extra clearance on this side.
11:06There's a swivel there at the top of the thigh.
11:08Double hinge on the knee.
11:10No articulation here to the boots.
11:12This just basically is a continued sculpt for the rest of the lower calf.
11:15Ankle moves up and down.
11:17Ankle rocks back and forth.
11:18And there also is the toe articulation as well.
11:21This would be a hard figure for me to say.
11:23I would take one over the other
11:25because I think both figures have good, very valid merits.
11:29One end, though, if you did really want to have the figure look more like the classic card.
11:33In this case, the one that has the broken off, cut off border.
11:37I think if you wanted to go with one that looks a little bit more like the comic,
11:39you may want to stick with the regular version.
11:42But you know, though, I hate to really twist your rubber arm.
11:45I say twist your rubber arm if you really needed that anyways as a nudge to buy this other figure.
11:49I think, honestly, the black jacket looks fantastic on him.
11:53I feel like if I had to really been given the choice and I had to say only choose one,
11:59maybe I would still probably go with this one just because, again,
12:01like when I tend to think of Black Hawk,
12:03I tend to think of him with the blue jacket and the blue pants.
12:06But if you get the chance, though, and you can get both.
12:09First of all, the fact that the figure does have the cap and the toupee.
12:13You know, you have to then, there are two different ways of displaying the figure.
12:16It's just really a shame that, again, like McFarlane Toys chose not to include two swappable hands.
12:21A saluting hand would have been perfect.
12:23A relaxed hand would be good as well.
12:25But if they had to, like, knock off all those extra things
12:28because of all these extra things that they throw to the figure,
12:31I think at the very most, I probably would have just packed this guy,
12:35not with a close fist, but with a gripping hand,
12:37so he can actually have held more than one accessory when you get this guy on display.
12:42Aside from his other gripping hand being M.I.A.,
12:45I do really like the look of Black Hawk.
12:47Now that I've got this figure displayed without the cap and hairpiece instead,
12:50I think I'm probably going to be going with that route,
12:52moving forward, displaying the two figures on the shelf.
12:54Being that the other one looks more classic, if you'd like to call it that,
12:58I think keeping the cap on him makes a little bit more sense.
13:01I like having the hairpiece on this one
13:02because it makes him look more like a secret agent.
13:05Again, I'm a little disappointed that the figure could have not had two gripping hands,
13:08and maybe, if anything, I wish that the toupee could have gone further down on the figure's face
13:12because it does kind of make him look like he's got a five head,
13:15but I do really like the look of Black Hawk a lot more, honestly, than I thought I would.
13:19You know, there are certain characters that you kind of gravitate a little bit more towards,
13:22and I hate to be biased for being the guy that loves Batman so much.
13:26I mean, I'm always for always new Batman villains,
13:28but every once in a while, though, there's a figure that surprises me,
13:31and I have to honestly say that Black Hawk surprised me
13:33by how much more I liked him than I thought I was.
13:37Getting this guy out of the packaging the first time looking at his face,
13:39I don't want to say I fell in love with it,
13:42but I certainly did like it right away.
13:44And again, while I do think maybe the hairpiece
13:46probably could have sat a little bit lower on the figure's face,
13:49I think having the two different looks of Black Hawk,
13:51one with the cap, one without the cap,
13:53and having two different color schemes,
13:54it's going to make this guy shine even more on the shelf.
13:57A big thank you again to the folks over at McFarland Toys
13:59that did provide this sample.
14:00Well, today we were having a look at the DC Multiverse,
14:02DC Classics, Platinum Edition Black Hawk.
14:05What do you guys think of this figure?
14:06Let me know down below in the comments section.
14:08If you had, by the way, the choice,
14:10and twisting, of course, your rubber arm,
14:12if you could only really have picked up one Black Hawk,
14:14would you have gone with the classic, but classic blue,
14:17or would you have gone with the all black instead?
14:20If you guys did, let me know.
14:21Certainly that down below in the comments section.
14:23If, in the meantime, you guys did enjoy this video,
14:25do it a solid, throw it a like.
14:26You guys want to stick around for more?
14:27So I do certainly hope so.
14:29Oh, we've got more content.
14:30Yes, we do.
