00:00 Someone's planting payback for old mother nature.
00:03 Here's your look at McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Batman & Robin Poison Ivy.
00:26 The Dark Knight battles his greatest threats yet. Cold-hearted Mr. Freeze,
00:30 venomous Poison Ivy and the unstoppable brute known only as Bane. Batman finds
00:35 himself at odds with his crime-fighting comrade Robin, no longer satisfied with
00:39 the role as a sidekick. As Mr. Freeze threatens to unleash a new Ice Age upon
00:44 the citizens of Gotham City, the dynamic duo now joined by the heroic newcomer
00:48 Batgirl must learn to work as a team before Gotham City is put on ice.
00:54 I'm about to measure to the top of Pamela Isley's head. Am I the only one that finds
00:57 it a bit of a plot problem that somebody loves plants so much would then team up
01:01 with somebody who wants everything in an everlasting winter wonderland? Maybe I'm
01:06 the only one. Pamela Isley though, or Poison Ivy if you will, is a figure that
01:10 stands seven inches in height or she's gonna be about 18 centimeters tall. And
01:14 while we don't have a cold comrade built yet, we did have a look at Batman
01:18 earlier. So let's bring the figure in now and show you guys the differences
01:21 between the two. Now Batman is a little bit shorter than Poison Ivy, but if you
01:25 count really the points on the top of his cowl, of course you probably should,
01:28 then it does make the figure slightly taller than Poison Ivy that we're about
01:31 to have a look at. For right now at least, Freeze is in pieces. First the figure
01:36 comes included with the torso and the lower trunks from Mr. Freeze, bringing
01:39 only the ones that we had to work with so far. We got the lower legs from Batman.
01:43 Let's go ahead and attach the legs. Now we'll have to probably fix the trunks. You
01:46 can see they're using a softer plastic for at least the trunks, but we can at
01:50 least take Mr. Freeze's legs, plug them properly in place and this is what we
01:54 have to work with right now. I mean with only just adding the head alone, I mean
01:58 it will give us about a figure well it's gonna be about that high. Then of course
02:01 we're gonna also get ourselves the shoulder pads. That's gonna come included
02:04 with the head for Batgirl. We've made a little progress. I still feel like
02:10 Mr. Freeze could have been the fifth figure and we could have had actually
02:13 Bane. Bane being the build, the figure would have made a little bit more
02:16 sense if you at least ask me. The figure also comes included with a display stand.
02:20 This only marks the two other things that the figure comes included with -
02:23 display stand and a trading card. Once again, no accessories anywhere to be
02:27 found. The figure comes first of all with like I said the display stand still this
02:31 DC logo printed down below. Still has tapping away there the top peg that can
02:35 plug into either one of Ivy's feet and then the figure also lastly comes
02:39 included with a trading card. The trading card as I mentioned already is basically
02:42 a poster puzzle piece. If we were to say take Batman, we could line it up. That's
02:47 basically what the poster would look like and then of course Robin. I think
02:51 Robin is what like Robin's right here. Robin's maybe in the middle. I don't
02:54 remember but yeah you can basically see we could put together a puzzle if you
02:58 really wanted to. It's literally it's just part of the poster that we get for
03:01 Pamela Isley's head. Poison Ivy I'm sure. I mean that's I don't really I wouldn't
03:06 want anything else to take a screen grab from the movie. I mean like what good of
03:09 a screen grab could they have really used? I think honestly the poster picture
03:12 of her makes a little bit more sense. On the back though her real name is Pamela
03:16 Isley and a good substantial read up although unfortunately with the readups
03:20 they're using the exact same one so if you've already read the one for Batman
03:23 you pretty much just then have practice to read this one again. By the time we
03:27 get to Batgirl you could probably read this while even looking at the cards.
03:30 I'm not that good. I'm gonna put these cards though to the side and like I said
03:34 the figure doesn't come included with anything in the way of accessories. She
03:37 sort of does tease with something that looks to be a gripping hand and yet
03:40 unfortunately the figure doesn't come included with anything. What she does
03:43 though come included with though is bearing a very strong likeness to Uma
03:46 Thurman who could some say would be one of the more cringeworthy aspects of
03:50 Batman and Robin. I know where do we pick what was the most cringeworthy? I don't I
03:54 don't think she really wasn't a bad casting for Poison Ivy but once again
03:58 sort of in the way like George Clooney I think she was just given really really
04:02 bad lines to read. If not for that I think actually she worked well for the
04:06 character just though a little more over-the-top.
04:08 Poison Ivy generally is just a character that has vines and then she has of
04:12 course the more famous red hair. This hair comes across more like an orange
04:15 and then she's got these very large almost Vulcan like eye pieces that go
04:20 over top. I would imagine there's supposed to be a mask. I don't think this
04:24 is something that's just naturally growing out of her face but she has sort
04:28 of these weird things that stick out and jet out the front of her face. I guess
04:31 it's a way just to give her a little bit more of a unique look to her. She's got
04:34 some vines, little ivy pieces there on the top there as well. I mean it's a
04:38 really nice looking likeness. If anything could be said, strangely choosing though
04:43 Batman and Robin for being the first... well we did also get of course the Nolan
04:46 trilogy so I guess this would be the second movie tie-in verse. Strange
04:50 that they would have then chose Batman and Robin and not like say for example
04:53 Batman and Robin or even just Batman Returns. Batman Returns would be the one
04:58 I'm the most interested to see. Imagine like a Michelle Pfeiffer cat one or a
05:01 Danny DeVito penguin of this size and the quality that McFarlane is doing with
05:06 her toys. Like there's really a lot of good stuff going on here with
05:09 Poison Ivy whether you really like the character or not. The leaves have been
05:13 nicely painted here. My guess is they probably would have been a darker green
05:16 and they would have just brushed across in only some select places a lighter
05:20 green to add over top of it. Of course she does have the lighter green sleeves.
05:23 She does have sort of that mist hand piece that she sort of blows off to the
05:27 audience and through I guess the pheromones everybody is just allured by
05:30 the just the entrapments of Poison Ivy. It only works also as well... I mean
05:35 obviously she starts to kiss people too. I mean you have to wear yourself a pair
05:38 of wax lips. Isn't that how Robin beats Poison Ivy? She kisses Robin and Robin
05:42 just peels off these. Is that enough? Is that all we really need? Just wax lips? On
05:47 the other hand though like I said though she does have rings on her fingers but
05:50 she has a gripping hand that looks like specifically it's designed for something.
05:53 I don't know if it would have been a flower. It's certainly small enough that
05:57 I feel like it was specifically designed this way that it was supposed to hold
06:01 something unique and yet the figure from what I'm looking at I'm checking around
06:05 on the tray as well there's nothing that came with the figure from what I can see
06:08 and there was no compartment space for anything with the figure either. As for
06:12 certainly the lower legs I really like the darker coloring that they've added.
06:15 Mostly starting here again with the lighter green but they've kind of
06:18 brushed on or airbrushed this really nice dark green. I know some people have
06:22 gone online and they've shown off images that they've customized their figure
06:25 adding some a little more darker contrast a little more of a wash of
06:28 paint to it but I feel like the figure at least feels complete. Batman my
06:32 biggest problem really with the Batman which I'll bring back in right now. Batman
06:35 looked really good but I feel like he was lacking some of those blue
06:38 highlights that Batman would have both in the media promotional artwork and
06:42 then also again in the movie where he just would have had a little more blue
06:45 coloring not just the stark black that we get here. Poison Ivy does feel
06:49 finished. I don't think there's a part where I'm really looking at the figure
06:51 I'm thinking to myself man they really missed and dropped the ball by not
06:55 painting this aspect. Everything like from down to her little nails down to
06:59 like the little rings that she has also there as well. I mean everything on the
07:02 figure feels finished and that's the best part of getting a figure like this
07:05 is that you don't really feel like I'm looking at this and thinking to myself
07:08 yeah they really needed to go back and do something else to it. It's nice
07:12 sculpting down below there for her boots also as well. The strangest thing about
07:15 her boots is that they kind of go right into her leggings so it's hard to kind
07:18 of gauge where I'm guessing she just would have had then high heels and then
07:22 this would be just part of her tights that would have blended then into the
07:25 green. One thing I also really like about the figure is the footprint space
07:28 they've given her. Generally characters with high heels for example you got a
07:31 very small high heel at the back and then this part usually is then cut in so
07:36 you don't have as much footprint space. You can see what they ended up doing is
07:39 they've allotted a spot not only for the peg but they've also given a little more
07:42 space on the back. It may not be more movie accurate but at least it gives her
07:46 enough footprint so she's not gonna have a balancing issue when you're putting
07:50 her on the shelf. Now for the figure's articulation, head sculpts gonna be
07:54 on a ball joint. The hair itself is a softer plastic but even then it's gonna
07:59 cause a little more problems when it comes to rotating the hair back and
08:01 forth or the head back and forth. Head looks up and looks down and of course
08:05 you can rock it back and forth as well. As for the actual shoulders, because even
08:09 though she has the longer locks at least one thing about them is they don't get
08:12 in the way when it comes to rotating her shoulders. You can easily bring them out
08:15 at 90 degrees, you can bring them forward and back. The only thing I will say
08:18 though about getting the figure immediately out of the packaging, you
08:20 don't probably maybe able to notice that in the video, but her arms are really
08:24 loose. Not loose to the point where they're gonna drop and droop down but I
08:27 did notice they're a little looser than say the legs. The figure does have a
08:31 swivel in the bicep. One thing I really like about the swiveling is that they
08:34 concealed it underneath the sleeve so there's no really way to see that
08:37 there's a hinge joint or swivel hinge joint there. They've nicely done a way of
08:41 hiding it underneath the sleeve. The figure does also have a double hinge on
08:43 the elbow. The hands do rotate also all the way around and then when it comes to
08:47 Poison Ivy's upper body, she has an upper torso ball joint and then she has a
08:51 lower torso ball joint but again to look at it, the leaves do a nice job of sort
08:55 of hiding and masking the points that are poseable. So really there's a joint
08:59 right there but I mean to look at it, it does other than obviously if you look at
09:03 from the side you probably notice a little bit more but looking at it from
09:05 the front it gives a really nice seamless look to the sculpting. Of course
09:09 the legs do split out. They're on ratcheted joints. Once again you can take the legs
09:12 and move forward, move them back. She has a swivel at the top of the thigh, double
09:15 hinge on the knee and while she doesn't possess any articulation here, there's no
09:19 boot cut or anything like that, mostly all the articulation is centered down by
09:23 her ankles. So of course you can move them back and forth, rock them back and
09:26 forth this way and the figure does have toe articulation as well. Now we've only
09:30 looked at two figures of the four. I mean the ones we still have to look at is
09:34 Robin. Again the real reason why I did want to look at instead of Robin looking
09:37 at Poison Ivy next was just because again like Poison Ivy had the torso
09:40 piece, I had to feel like I was making some progress and with Robin, I think
09:44 Robin actually gets the arms. If I can get her, you know what, get her to stand.
09:47 Let's get her on display stand. Considering that Robin only really comes
09:50 with the arms, I mean what little progress would we have made when it came
09:53 to displaying Mr. Freeze? At least as it is right now, bring back in Batman, at
09:57 least as it is right now we've got this to work with. Not much yet but at least
10:01 we would have made better, well we've made more better progress than we would
10:04 have actually when we would have had a look at just Robin alone. Again we're
10:08 gonna get the arms for Robin, the head and the shoulder pads are also gonna
10:11 come in clue with Batgirl. Of course right now we'll just move that out of
10:14 the way. You know one thing I will say though, whether you like the movie or not,
10:17 Batman and Robin is one of those Batman movies, it's always like the last one
10:21 even if it's on TV, even if it's on TV. Usually a Batman movie if it's on and I
10:26 happen to flip to it, I'll watch it. I'll watch whatever's left of it. Batman and
10:29 Robin though is one that I just turn off. The moment I see it, wherever it is in
10:33 the movie, even if it's an action scene, I usually just I don't know, I just turn
10:36 it off. It's not one I'm at all really interested in. I like the characters in
10:40 it. The idea of bringing finally in Poison Ivy, the idea of finally bringing
10:43 Mr. Freeze and again the idea of actually bringing in a Bane. All were
10:47 really great on paper, not well executed at all though. I will say though one
10:51 thing, while the movie wasn't well executed, the figures themselves look
10:54 fantastic. I think both of them look like the characters themselves. George
10:58 Clooney of course for Batman and of course you've got Uma Thurman. Whether
11:01 you liked Uma Thurman really as Poison Ivy or not, you know again it looks just
11:05 like her in figure form. While Ivy may have succeeded in seducing the citizens
11:09 of Gotham City, unfortunately the movie did not seduce the critics into loving
11:13 the film. Unfortunately Batman and Robin still continues to be considered the
11:17 worst of the Bat franchise. Not until of course we got ourselves the reboot with
11:22 what we got with the Nolan trilogy. Pretty much Batman was dead in the water
11:25 and it all can be chalked up to what ended up happening with Batman and Robin.
11:29 Whatever you may feel about the actual casting of characters, like I did say
11:33 with George Clooney, I didn't mind at all. Uma Thurman, I just didn't like the way
11:36 that she was portrayed as Poison Ivy in the movie. A lot of it could just be the
11:40 way of terrible writing, some of the script choices and of course the
11:43 costuming didn't also work either as well. The fact that Bane was sitting
11:46 inside of a big monkey suit. Speaking of suits though and Poison Ivy, we did get
11:50 this one but I'm wondering if maybe we're also going to be getting the other
11:53 Poison Ivy that has her in the green jumpsuit, sort of those horned hair
11:56 pieces that she has and instead of having the Vulcan eye mask in green, she
12:00 had it sort of more in a peach color. Maybe we might very well get that figure
12:04 because I would imagine it just be a case of tooling this one a little bit
12:06 more, releasing that as a gold label edition or hey you never know we might
12:09 get a second wave. If we do get a second wave then I would hope that what I would
12:14 hope would still be on the table is the idea at least giving us a Bane. Whatever
12:17 your feelings may be about Bane, if we are gonna be getting at least Batman or
12:20 Robin figures, I would hope to think at least that McFarlane at some point will
12:24 release either a second wave of these figures or maybe release like a gold
12:27 label edition Poison Ivy that has the green jumpsuit and maybe not in release
12:31 maybe on its own a mega sized Bane. I'll definitely pick that one up as well
12:34 whether I think the Bane in that movie was just terrible or not. I like the look
12:37 of it at least it's a classic, somewhat classic comic book looking Bane. What do
12:42 you guys think though of Poison Ivy? Let me know down below in the comment
12:44 section if you have been at all collecting any new Batman and Robin
12:47 figures courtesy of the folks over at McFarlane toys or when it certainly
12:50 comes to Batman and Robin where would you rank it when it comes to Batman
12:54 movies? Let me know down below in the comment section. In the meantime though
12:56 if you guys did enjoy this video I want to hit with a like if you guys are loving
12:59 the content you guys are seeing and you're taking Tally we are still gonna
13:02 be looking at Robin and we're also gonna be looking at Batgirl probably in that
13:05 order I think because Batman's Robin's gonna come in clear with the arms but
13:09 Batgirl's gonna come in clear with the head and the shoulders and I think
13:11 through that we'll complete finally the cold-hearted Mr. Freeze and of course
13:15 his review will be right around the corner as well. Of course making sure you
13:17 hit that subscribe button down below is the crucial thing equally important as
13:21 well as that you're turning on the bell notification and I suppose the one of
13:24 the other important things too making sure you're coming back here on a
13:26 regular basis. Of course as always guys thanks for watching see you guys next
13:30 time.
13:33 you
