00:00 I hope your collection is ready to join the collective. Here's your look at the
00:04 new Super 7 Star Trek The Next Generation Picard as Locutus of Borg.
00:10 No one would ever mistake Locutus of Borg's bluntness for the more genial
00:26 nature of the pre-assimilation identity Starfleet Captain Jean-Luc Picard, but
00:30 subtly has never been high on the Borg priority list. This 7-inch scale Star
00:35 Trek The Next Generation Ultimates figure of Locutus of Borg features
00:38 multiple interchangeable heads and hands. You won't have to worry about how well
00:41 this made-to-order Star Trek The Next Generation Ultimates Locutus of Borg
00:45 figure will integrate with your collection. Assimilation is kind of its
00:48 thing. Well before anyone else around here becomes a Borg, let's grab the tape
00:53 measure and see how tall the figure stands. At one point when I was working
00:56 with producer Tony, I thought he had been assimilated into a Borg and I just
00:59 realized he had no personality whatsoever. The figure though stands
01:03 about six and a half inches in height or Locutus of Borg is 17 centimeters tall.
01:07 As for your other figures, let's bring in now the rest of the first wave of the
01:11 Star Trek Ultimates figure. Here's what Locutus of Borg looks like with
01:15 Commander William T. Riker. Recently we also had a look at Lieutenant Commander
01:19 Data and Data I think is a little bit more sized closer to Picard. Picard, as
01:23 you can clearly see, he's a little bit taller than Data but he isn't quite as
01:27 tall as Riker. Well right away I'm already relieved that the figure doesn't
01:31 come included with any poker chips or playing cards. Borg don't really tend to
01:35 do that. They're more into Monopoly. The figure though does come included with an
01:39 interchangeable hand though and I just don't really know why. The hand itself
01:43 looks like it should be holding something perhaps like a phaser because
01:46 the other hand, I mean literally on the other hand, he has kind of more of a
01:49 relaxed hand but I feel like they're so close in sculpt that really didn't need
01:53 necessarily to have this. I'd hate to think that Super 7 is basically
01:57 stocking their figures with extra accessories to justify the price because
02:00 again like looking at it the hands are so really close together. Let me just
02:03 grab it by the peg so you guys can see. I mean again like the hands are so close
02:07 to one another. If you already had this hand I don't think you'd be disappointed
02:11 at all to find out that this hand wasn't included. The figure though does also
02:15 come included with two other interchangeable head sculpts. Now he has
02:18 the one where he's mostly transformed. He's fully transformed into Locutus but
02:22 then he has various stages. He has this one which is I guess either pre
02:27 assimilation where about you know again they kind of stick that needle into him
02:31 and it turns him faded like this like when Optimus Prime is dying in the
02:34 original 80s movie or this could also be one I don't think this is the one after
02:38 Locutus was recovering and he turns back to Picard because obviously the color
02:41 scheme is completely way off. I think it's probably like the first stage of
02:45 assimilation and then there's also this head sculpt also as well which one thing
02:48 it doesn't have is it doesn't have the rest of the covering that goes across
02:51 the front of his face. So like there's this one which I don't honestly think
02:54 is ever really one I'm gonna ever display with the figure but I think if
02:57 anything it does give us a tease for what we might see with a future Captain
03:01 Jean-Luc Picard figure because you gotta imagine with either one of these both of
03:04 them are actually decent enough they could basically just tool back or
03:07 likelihood they probably already had tooled a Picard head sculpt and then
03:11 just retooled it to add all the borgified parts all across the
03:15 side of his face for example. So there's this head sculpt and then there's this
03:19 one that basically comes with the figure that's basically as Locutus is fully
03:22 revealed and Riker is just about to say "fire" which I can't tell you I mean that
03:28 was the most excited I think I've ever been for a twist a spin-off what would
03:34 they call it when they wrap up a I can't remember what the name of it is
03:38 basically when they end a series a cliffhanger a cliffhanger that was
03:42 probably the most exciting cliffhanger I think I've ever seen as a kid I kept
03:45 running back to my house I think Saturday afternoons was when they were
03:49 doing new Star Trek the next generation episodes kept thinking that the newest
03:52 episode was gonna come back until I realized later I had to wait for fall
03:55 anyways though back to though the head sculpts this I gotta believe it is gonna
04:00 be used at some point for a future Picard figure it does have though I don't
04:03 know if you can see it a little kind of wear away mark right there's a few
04:06 little lines on the top of his forehead I don't know if really but are supposed
04:10 to belong there and of course there's this one that has across the stretched
04:13 across the front of his face he's all got the additional Borg if I'd parts
04:16 nice additional use of some dark gunmetal gray changing out the head
04:20 sculpts by the way one thing I will say though is be very very careful about
04:23 this he has this hose that runs from this side of the figure space if I get
04:27 my blasted finger out of the way that is for all intents and purposes it's on a
04:31 hose that's supposed to connect right there the hose I will say never stays in
04:34 place but in the off chance that it does let's just get that in there on the back
04:39 it's supposed to plug right right there but like I said it never does in the off
04:42 chance though that it does you want to make sure that this hose is removed
04:45 first before you pop the head off because you don't want this to stay
04:48 behind and you rip it off from the side but again if you want to change out the
04:51 head is just a case of holding on to the torso wiggling off look who dis is head
04:56 which is just basically on a ball joint and then popping then the new head in
05:00 place which again I feel in a way or maybe not as much of a way as the
05:04 original head sculpt that we had looked at where it was this one I spin it around
05:08 so you guys can see this one I have no plans whatsoever to have displayed ever
05:12 with locutus this one I actually do like but I think I like it for all the wrong
05:16 reasons I like it because it just looks a lot like Captain Jean-Luc Picard but I
05:19 think honestly if I really wanted to have it more fittingly looking like a
05:22 locutus this is probably the better head sculpt of the three show you guys the
05:25 difference between the two now again just to pop this one back on because I
05:30 want to put back in basically the default attack because that's the head
05:33 I'm gonna use moving forward just can put a little bit of pressure onto the
05:36 ball joint snap that in place and again you got that little hose there's a hose
05:40 that basically runs on the side of his cheek make sure you don't grab that one
05:42 wherever you do I almost did and then again there's this hose on the side that
05:45 plugs in for all intents and purposes and that little hole in the back of the
05:48 figures body looking at the rest of the locutus his body one thing I do like
05:52 about it is the way they've sculpted it one thing I don't like about it though
05:55 is the color choice that they went with it has for weird reasons sort of a
05:59 brownish tint to the gray in the actual series he actually had kind of more of a
06:03 grayish black color scheme where like notably you could see like this section
06:07 of I think of his body was kind of more of a darker black or certainly at least
06:09 for his sleeves they were a lot darker of a black than we actually get here I
06:13 think they have taken some luxuries when it comes to designing of locutus
06:16 because from what I remember he sort of had more of a fabric sleeve here a
06:20 fabric sleeve here he sort of had like a bicep section that wrapped around the
06:24 front again they kind of just changed in such a way this could be more mirrored I
06:29 feel maybe the first contact where we only get a glimpse of Picard as locutus
06:33 in the movie I think it looks more a little more like resembling that maybe
06:37 not as much resembling the best of both worlds I think was the best of both
06:40 worlds again the only thing I really don't like about is the color scheme the
06:43 color scheme really needed to be kind of more of a darker blackish gray as opposed
06:48 to basically what we're getting right here it's way too brown it comes across
06:51 more to me kind of like a dark chocolate brown the hoses are all a nice little
06:55 touch that he's got also on the side of his torso he's got it here on the side
06:58 connects basically this top of his shoulder to this part of his bicep so
07:02 again when we talk about the figures articulation we're gonna kind of make
07:05 sure we we hone in on that some nice hoses there in the end he's got a little
07:08 Borgified tool there on the end all again nice little details but the thing
07:12 that that's so hard really when it comes to locutus is the fact that obviously
07:16 super 7 wanted to make this figure obviously they wanted to release him but
07:19 they want to include accessories I don't honestly feel like this was really a
07:23 necessary accessory and I certainly don't feel like this hand was a
07:27 necessary accessory but at least he didn't have poker pieces included because
07:32 that would be ridiculous how's it go for the rest of the figures body again
07:35 there's a nice little breakup where you've got the darker hoses done in more
07:38 of a shinier black it works well with the backdrop but again I just don't
07:42 think the color is 100% right you may also have noticed already that my figure
07:47 unfortunately has the dinner bell problem I haven't had this figure out of
07:49 the packaging for very long at all I've barely really even moved it and yet
07:54 reasons unknown the figure has extremely wobbly legs if you have picked up
07:58 locutus for yourself let me know if you've had similar issues with loose
08:01 legs I mean none of the Star Trek figures up to this point both data and
08:05 Riker had really tight joints again I just don't know why locutus had to have
08:09 loose legs it makes no sense whatsoever it's not the case where they've reused
08:13 the mold to the point where the figures sometimes if you use a mold a lot of
08:16 times there's mold degradation and it usually results in joints being a lot
08:20 looser than what they normally should be but locutus is a brand new mold I mean
08:24 he's not using a mold with any other shared figures he really shouldn't be as
08:27 loose as he is immediately out of the packaging that being said let's get a
08:31 closer look at the figures art articulation so his heads gonna be on a
08:34 ball joint if this is a case where you already have this attached into the hole
08:38 on the back you want to make sure of course that that's not already in there
08:41 when rotating the head of course because that may eventually pull it's okay if it
08:45 pulls here it's definitely not okay if it pulls here because you'd probably
08:48 have to glue that back in place head does look down only by that far it looks
08:51 up and you can also move it back and forth as well the shoulders on this side
08:55 aren't problems problematic at all other than just the fact that you have kind of
08:59 like this shoulder piece that's attached to this section of his arm if you try to
09:03 rotate his arm all the way around it sort of does get caught you can kind of
09:06 see right there so I'm just kind of make sure that well it's easier probably just
09:10 to rotate the opposite way around arms do come out but they only go out this
09:13 far any bit past that point I feel like I'm adding tension to the shoulder with
09:18 it eventually a shoulder pad could possibly pop off you want to just be
09:21 careful of that figure does have a bicep swivel single hinge only in the elbow
09:25 and again like the hands rotate all the way around this side though is a little
09:29 bit more difficult just because again everything that's rotating this is first
09:33 of all I mean you don't have to worry about that that's attached to the torso
09:35 but like this section right here when you start to rotate like his bicep you
09:40 want to make sure you don't rotate it too far at least they give enough of an
09:42 allowance that you know again if you were to rotate it too far you still have
09:46 a long ways to go before this starts to pull but you want to just make sure
09:49 though as you're moving figures around that you don't clip this with your
09:52 finger like I've done this almost already where I was moving the figure I
09:55 kind of got my finger snagged on this and I went to pull it and then I
09:58 realized oh my fingers stuck on the hose so again like the articulation is gonna
10:02 be exactly exactly the same on this figure it doesn't have really much in
10:05 the way of rotation on the end of his board tool again he's about these all
10:09 these extra hoses there as well upper torso is gonna be on a job on a ball
10:12 joint more so in the waist area legs do split out again I don't even know why
10:16 they're as loose as they are and they go forward they go back swivel at the top
10:20 of the thigh the figure has only a single hinge in the knee once again the
10:23 lower leg rotates only by just a little bit and again the ankle moves up and
10:27 down and back and forth usually the the case the formula when it comes to super
10:32 seven releases they tend to give us like two main characters as the way they
10:36 normally would look and then we get a variation of a character no truer is a
10:41 case when we had to look at the Simpsons for example Moe ironically enough was
10:44 the most average-looking Simpsons character and then they threw in for
10:47 reasons unknown robot itchy robot scratchy poochie and they threw in a
10:52 deep space Homer or astronaut on Homer this time around we actually get at
10:56 least regular crew members so again there's commander Riker and there's
11:00 lieutenant commander data locutus is of course that sort of slight variation to
11:05 what eventually we will be seeing I'm sure with a command with a captain John
11:08 Luke Picard captain John Luke Picard I'm sure once again going back to this
11:11 particular head sculpt just remember this one because I'm sure we're gonna be
11:14 seeing this particular head sculpt again I can't imagine for locutus being sort
11:18 of a tease for what we're gonna be getting for Picard that they're not
11:21 simply just gonna use this mold again get away of course from all the
11:24 borgified parts and not simply just use that head again for a regular captain
11:27 Jean-Luc Picard while summoning my experiences with Star Trek so far and
11:31 super 7 of what they've done with the first wave of Star Trek figures I've
11:34 overall been quite impressed commander Riker and lieutenant commander data were
11:38 really surprises to me that they would throw in established legacy characters
11:43 so early into that first wave I just thought if anything they probably would
11:47 have thrown in let's just say like a data a Klingon of some character and
11:51 then of some other obscure character where you'd have to then wait several
11:54 waves to start building out the rest of the crew of the USS Enterprise not this
11:58 time around in fact actually we got ourselves data a good-looking data we
12:01 got ourselves an equally good Riker right Riker might still be my favorite
12:04 from this first wave and then we go of course got ourselves look who does now
12:08 the very unlikelihood that they'd ever really throw in a captain Picard and
12:11 they're not they're not gonna use up all those characters right away for those
12:14 first waves so we get a variation of Picard and a good variation that he is
12:18 other than just really the coloring of his suit which I think it's the one
12:22 coloring that's off I know obviously their suits look a little bit different
12:24 the Borg's that is in first contact and these subsequent appearances afterwards
12:28 then maybe what they would have looked in in the first earlier episodes of
12:32 first appearances in next generation Picard in this case I would imagine even
12:36 though he does look like this more in first contact the color scheme I still
12:39 think is off I think there's too many Browns that they've used for the
12:42 majority of his body he really should feel I feel at least should be more of a
12:45 kind of grayish black and not really kind of the brown color that we're
12:49 getting here instead the rest of the lightly colored or fainter the
12:53 complexion that they've given the head sculpt is still quite good and I got to
12:56 believe underneath that not only is a real human but also probably the
12:59 building blocks of what they will use for a future Picard figure what do you
13:03 guys think of this wave so far now we kind of really wrapped up our Star Trek
13:06 super seven figures what do you guys think is your favorite figure from this
13:09 first wave mine is Riker what's yours let me know down below in the comment
13:13 section and also considering that look who just came with an alternate heads
13:16 hands that make no sense whatsoever and to alternate head sculpts what other
13:20 accessories could you see have been included with a kutas instead I think
13:24 again like that hand is just unnecessary they could have used that plastic
13:27 dedicated for something else maybe like electricity effects that they could have
13:30 maybe wrapped around the kutas his body as he's getting stunned I don't know
13:34 something other than just one other one other hand that really again just looks
13:37 like the hand that's currently on the end of his forearm anyways if you guys
