00:44 officially licensed leather face statue show off your love for horror movies and

00:49 give your guests a scare every Halloween I'm sure the Sawyers win best decorated

00:54 house those bodies look so lifelike before we get a closer look though at

00:58 the spirit Halloween leather face Halloween edition statue I'm gonna go

01:02 ahead and grab the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands now this

01:04 statue is made though of poly resin and it is a bit expensive I will say getting

01:09 this over at spirit Halloween and at one point they had this stocked in stores I

01:13 ended up having to order this one online and the price was at the time $89.99 so

01:18 I would certainly say it's a little bit more of a steeper price thank goodness

01:21 it does actually have audio and sound effects which we will cycle through in a

01:24 second let's slow grab again like the tape measure as promised and right to

01:28 the very top of Bubba's head you're looking at the statue of leather face

01:31 being 12 inches exactly or it's gonna be 30 centimeters tall now with it having

01:37 sound effects the statue actually does have a little try me button on the front

01:40 of the box which I will admit I probably pressed a good several times in the

01:43 store again I had planned to come back and get it at the store but they had

01:46 sold out so I end up having to order this one online it does though require

01:50 three triple-a batteries now the batteries are in theory technically

01:54 installed on the bottom of the base what are you talking about humbled reviewer

01:57 if you pick up the statue well we'll say right away it's quite heavy if you look

02:00 at the bottom of the base you got yourself first of all a little a battery

02:04 cover now the batteries were installed on the bottom of this but they batteries

02:08 were dead they were pretty cheap batteries anyways like one of those red

02:11 no-name labeled batteries I end up having to replace them with at least

02:14 triple-a batteries that I knew were brand new in my own stock replace those

02:18 first of all you have to unscrew the little battery cover I don't know why

02:21 they always have to put those in there now I think I think it's probably more

02:23 for safety precautions than anything else not that the kid I'm thinking is

02:26 gonna be going up close to us a leather face statute and popping the batteries

02:30 in their mouth I don't even know why they would be doing that but the little

02:32 core that would attach to the try me button is located right there so you

02:36 want to make sure you just untap that or what you can also do too is always keep

02:39 that in place and just cycle through the button doing it that way instead of the

02:43 button on the back on the top of the display stand then of course down onto

02:47 the bottom you've got yourself on off and try me when it was switched over to

02:50 try is when then it had the little button activation on the outside of the

02:53 box you want to make sure of course you're switching it over to on on the

02:57 bottom of this also as well it says 1974 vortex Inc can't Kim Henkel and Toby

03:07 four rubberized feet on the bottom of this so of course you're not gonna

03:10 prevent any scratching on surfaces when you are sliding the statue around I'm

03:13 hoping to think you're not me sliding this much around on the front of this

03:16 first of all you got a very decorative looking display base some chains some

03:20 skulls quite large skulls too but if you consider really the size of leather face

03:24 perched on top I guess the skulls are fairly accurate in size it looks to be

03:28 also as well you've got some really interesting old floorboarding here on

03:32 the top of it is there's also the little Texas chainsaw master placard that say of

03:36 course Texas and chainsaw and white masker with the cut through it all

03:40 nicely painted here in red and there's a little activation button there on the

03:43 top ring on it press it in a second just give me a give me a few moments now the

03:47 thing about this is being that it is a Halloween themed version of leather face

03:51 now that would almost even indicate the fact that this leather face statue was

03:54 released before but wasn't Halloween themed I don't ever recall ever seeing

03:58 this statue but this one's clearly been listed at least on their site and also

04:02 on the box as being Halloween themed you can see it by the way that leather face

04:05 is stomping down on a few randomly placed jack-o'-lanterns I really like the

04:09 way that they've sculpted these you have it seemed to be a total of four one off

04:13 to the side here closer to what almost looks to be like a decaying melting away

04:17 corpse but then also as well you've got a couple of you got three here on the

04:20 side of various sizes the one in the front though unfortunately is the one

04:23 that has to get squished by leather faces boot and they have looks like it

04:27 looks like they've actually painted all of this initially or molded it possibly

04:30 also in all black black of course being the same color on the bottom of the base

04:33 and then they probably would have just gone and paint the surfaces over top

04:36 some of the areas around his boots isn't the cleanest something just because

04:40 again like they're trying to paint around the boot and they're also trying

04:42 to paint around the jack-o'-lanterns but at least the jack-o'-lanterns are a nice

04:44 bright right very vibrant orange you've got a few little areas of splattered

04:48 blood scattered all across this some new again random chains just sort of draped

04:53 all across this and some very random bones all sorts sticking out from the

04:57 ground on the side you can see there it looks looks to be a ribcage there looks

05:00 to be also as well an arm and a hand what's left of the corpse as well and

05:03 again you got all these nice little detail the little intricate bones all

05:07 sculpted around the base I still don't know what's going on here necessarily

05:11 with this skeleton it looks like the skeleton is basically just molting into

05:14 the ground I probably just would have had to do it this way so the skeleton

05:18 wasn't raised and wasn't a potential risk of this breaking but it sort of

05:22 looks like it's bleeding itself melting its way then onto the floor underneath

05:26 it's about the only thing I really don't well it's two things I don't really like

05:29 about the statues the way they've actually handled the skeleton I don't

05:32 know again why it looks specifically like this again it almost looks like it

05:36 was made out of sand like someone's making a skeleton sandcastle anyways

05:40 though moving up from that of course moving as we pan up to the top of this

05:43 the statue we've got leather face here looks like drawing back the cord to

05:47 start his chainsaw judging by the fact that there's blood here on the end of

05:50 the chainsaw means that the chainsaw has already been busy and yet there's no

05:54 blood anywhere on the teeth of the chainsaw only on the front so he

05:57 probably has been slashing his way with it the chainsaw is fairly well sculpted

06:01 the yellow of course has been added to it I think the chainsaw in the movie is

06:05 actually more of a closer green but the way it's shot it looks more like it's

06:08 yellow in the movie the drawcord is about the only thing is actually metal

06:12 like all the rest of it seems to be all composed of poly resin but it looks like

06:16 the drawcord is actually as you can see it actually is made of metal stop that

06:22 and then of course from that the chains the chainsaw just behind the chainsaw is

06:26 a very bloodied apron the apron isn't quite the coloring of the way it would

06:30 have been in the 74 movie but I guess it gets the job done you can see as well

06:34 like again it's quite generously splattered with a good dollop of blood

06:38 and then from there you can also oh there you can also see as well he does

06:41 have the little bracelet around one of his arms so at least there's some

06:44 accuracy added there as well the thing only I the thing I'm not as crazy about

06:49 honestly is the head sculpt getting a closer look at leather faces face you

06:54 get still the option to see his head and as well at least his eyes and his mouth

06:57 underneath like he would have been the case in the 74 movie as well I'm gonna

07:01 spin this to the side so you guys can see it as well it's an okay head sculpt

07:04 I think it kind of under delivers a little bit in the paint I have to ask

07:07 myself that this has only been painted just a little bit better maybe the mask

07:11 would have looked a lot better than what it does right now it has I don't want

07:14 to say a cheapness to it I guess I had already said that it does have a little

07:18 bit of a cheap look to it I just wish it was a little bit painted better than

07:21 what it is right now maybe just a little bit of an extra wash it sort of seems

07:24 like it just ran across the plant across the conveyor belt and people are just

07:28 going to go like this I'm gonna add a little bit of paint onto leather faces

07:32 face move it along and then the next one comes along and just sort of it doesn't

07:35 seem like there's a real rhyme or reason I guess it probably could have been an

07:38 opportunity where they could have made it a look a little more detailed

07:40 considering the asking price for this and all is $89.99 and that's tax on top

07:45 of it as well also the shirt is something that's really devoid of a lot

07:49 of paint there really could have been a lot of an opportunity to add some stains

07:52 just some sweat marks not to mention just the darker accurate more coloring

07:56 of the shirt that he has in the movie it's very white here unfortunately it

07:59 really could have used a lot more color than what it actually gets afforded it

08:02 gets some stripes there on the sides of his sleeves and you can kind of see

08:05 under the light a little bit that he also has the stripes on this on the

08:08 shirt as well but nothing really seems painted on it his arms though while

08:12 being painted in a skin tone really does seem like there's a lot of missed

08:15 opportunities to add a lot of additional weathering to this now the statue itself

08:19 does have a cycle through series of sound effects again all activated by the

08:24 fact you press a little button here on the front you want me to show you the

08:26 button again okay we'll pick up that I'll show you guys the button there's

08:28 right on the top there again the first time I did this I pressed it several

08:32 times and I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working I mean the try me cord

08:37 was already removed but I knew there was batteries built inside of it knock knock

08:40 who's there so I end up having to change the batteries and then sure enough once

08:43 the batteries were changed it does then cycle through the sound effects I will

08:46 say the sound effects are very quite clear and loud so it does I feel even

08:50 though for $89.99 if it was just the statue of Leatherface alone I feel like

08:54 it wouldn't really I don't think it would really be delivering the asking

08:56 price of being that much but the fact it does have audio clips I think kind of

09:00 bumps up the value of this a little bit more than just simply being a polyresin

09:04 statue of Leatherface and one thing I also really like about this I know I

09:07 can't everybody keeps saying just press the button already blast it just before

09:11 we actually press the button one thing I did also want to say as well it is a

09:14 very long audio clip it actually cycles through the revving of the chainsaw the

09:17 screaming and all the stuff that goes along with it at any given point you can

09:21 press this button again so if you are somebody like for example somebody comes

09:25 into your house and you've already listened to this a good hundred times or

09:27 so and somebody decides like a kid for example wants to go up and press it you

09:31 don't have to worry that you have to then sit through just stop your

09:34 conversation with the rest of the adults and wait for Leatherface to finish

09:36 killing his victims you can easily just go up to the button and press it again

09:40 to turn it off as you'll see right now we're gonna go ahead and press the

09:43 button here on Leatherface and again you'll kind of get a good feeling just

09:47 how good the sound actually is on the statue well I feel like the statue sort

09:51 of under delivers a little bit on the paint I think it makes up for it at

09:54 least on the sound effects let's go ahead and press that right now oh one

09:58 thing we actually have to do first is I want to make sure I switch it over to on

10:01 what is actually on on let's try that again

10:05 strange it was working before I don't think I have to change the batteries

10:09 again I literally just put the batteries in and I pressed it there we go

10:16 I guess it was just a hair sensitive switch now again at any given point you

10:26 can't stop that by pressing the button again I don't really know this is now

10:30 the third time this has happened we're switching it off and switching it on

10:33 seem to get it to work and prior to that it wasn't working at all I changed the

10:38 batteries again these are completely brand new batteries so again it might be

10:41 just a problem where maybe the switch is a little finicky so if you are getting

10:45 this statue for yourself and you're realizing okay why is this not working

10:48 so just play a little bit with the batteries play a little bit with the

10:51 switch and you might just find the switches again just really super

10:54 sensitive anyways we're gonna press it again I'm gonna run it through

10:57 completely all the way through so you guys can actually get the full

11:00 effect of what the audio clips do sound like the clarity on it is really quite

11:11 good and I was really impressed that that sound was as good as it was I'm

11:19 just gonna pick this actually up so you guys can get it maybe a now the thing

11:28 about it though I'm just gonna switch this off for a second the thing about it

11:32 though it doesn't seem to have any visible speaker section either so it

11:36 seems to almost be a case that the speaker is projecting in the same spot

11:39 as the battery compartment isn't that a bit strange again you would have expected

11:43 that there would have been a very visible slotted section where all the

11:46 audio would be coming out of but it doesn't seem to be the case at all

11:48 pressing it again it seems like it's coming from the same area as the battery

11:52 compartment now it actually does also as well go through this I think twice before

12:19 it eventually does stop so again you can also just run in the course of it and

12:24 just know sooner or later it will eventually turn off this isn't gonna be

12:28 one of those things where Leatherface is gonna be chasing and killing people with

12:31 his chainsaw throughout the entire day eventually it does though shut off maybe

12:37 it does also do it a third time I'm gonna run this out and see how long it

12:40 actually takes for the statue to switch off I had counted before I thought it

12:44 was only the two times maybe it's actually in fact three times that it

12:48 finally does shut off as we all wait very patiently here maybe even switches

13:00 it does eventually turn off because I know I had it in my kitchen and it was

13:04 going in the background till eventually it shut off unless oh that's probably

13:09 the case as well I had it at one point switch obviously over to try so maybe

13:13 with try it only again does it once or twice before eventually shuts off if you

13:18 have it maybe on on maybe it will still continue to go obviously for the sake of

13:24 dragging this review of I wouldn't want you guys to be sitting here for the next

13:27 10-15 minutes hearing this thing screaming let's just switch this off so

13:32 maybe it is a case when it actually comes to being the on setting of the

13:35 statue it will just continue to run which is one thing of course now luckily

13:40 knowing that the battery button is on the top here you can actually just

13:43 switch it on and off instead of having to lift the statue on the bottom of the

13:48 base and then switching it off that way you just have to always know to turn the

13:51 button on the top of it again I probably should really test this to see how long

13:55 this thing actually runs maybe it is again a case that having it switched

13:58 over to try it only again cycled through it once maybe even twice before

14:02 eventually shut off because of course in a store you wouldn't want this thing to

14:06 always be cycling through the sounds maybe then now in the on mode the statue

14:10 will just continue to rev continue to cut its way and leather face will just

14:14 be continuing to pursue his prey the statue as a whole is good I mean for

14:19 again $89.99 if it was just devoid altogether of its audio clips I don't

14:24 know necessarily I would say $89.99 is a good asking price and that's $89.99 by

14:28 the way in Canada so it's $90 plus on top of that the tax that goes along with

14:32 it or of course if you also ordered this online the shipping that would also go

14:35 along with it as well it's a pretty pretty steep asking price I feel for

14:39 what you're getting here the statue as a whole looks okay I mean for if it wasn't

14:43 for the audio I would say this statue for me is only honestly worth about 50

14:47 to 60 dollars maybe about mid meeting in the middles let's say 55 54 54 99 I

14:53 think would be a sweet ideal price point for a statue like this if it didn't have

14:57 audio clips the fact that it does though have audio clips I think may justify why

15:01 it's asking the price that it is $90 a little high if it didn't have audio but

15:05 I think with $90 the fact that the clarity of the sound is as good as it is

15:09 I mean this sounds like somebody's actually being butchered with a

15:12 chainsaw in the same room as me I think the audio is actually good enough to

15:16 justify the price that they're asking for it whether again it's worth you

15:19 going to a local store for yourself and picking this up statue up for yourself

15:23 or ordering it online I guess it really would determine how big of a Texas

15:27 chainsaw masker fan you actually are well I do think that leather faces

15:31 sculpt and the display base are one of the things I also really like about the

15:34 statue again it's the paint that kind of under delivers on this piece he doesn't

15:38 look as good I think in this shirt he certainly doesn't look as good in the

15:41 mask and I think anyone that has the chance to pick this one up for

15:44 themselves that have a little more talented skills when it comes to painting

15:48 could easily then go in this and add the extra necessary details that would

15:52 really up the price and up the value of what the statue would have been as it is

15:55 right now the statue does come across a little on the cheap looking side I mean

16:00 I get the all the intended plan of having an included audio clip and that's

16:04 the thing that also again really for me sells the idea that the statue is worth

16:08 the $89.99 if not for that I think the price of the statue would have been way too

16:12 high if let's just say it was staction it literally was doing the same thing

16:16 it's doing right now just on your shelf if it didn't have any of the audio clip

16:20 I would have certainly said $89.99 is a too high of a asking price and I may

16:24 have even possibly passed on it altogether I'm sure I'd love to pick up

16:28 things and review them for the Halloween season but for $90 for just a leather

16:31 face that's doing well he's doing it right now I don't know if I think that

16:35 would be a little bit too high for the asking price but the fact it does have

16:38 audio clips and only just short of maybe someone going and touching up the

16:42 details on this face I think there's a real opportunity to make the statue look

16:45 a lot better than what it is right now it sort of has a mass-produced look and

16:50 vibe to it and yet the audio clips are some of the best I've listened to when

16:54 it comes to anything has audio to statues statues with audio don't always

16:58 work because they tend to have more of a muffled sound to it and yet there was

17:02 nothing muffled at all about the screaming now whether that's actually a

17:05 clip pulled from the 74 film or if they just recreated that sense essentially in

17:10 a studio either way like the clarity of the audio is the one of the most

17:13 impressive things about the statue well sort of under delivers a little bit on

17:16 the paint it makes up for it at least on a sculpt and the display base is

17:20 interesting enough as well even though the skeleton sort of does look like it's

17:23 melting into the floor what do you guys think of the statue let me know down

17:33 exclusive I did actually find this one not necessarily in the stores I did find

17:37 it at one point but had gone gone back since and it was sadly sold out I had

17:42 asked if they had planned to stock anything more and they said the girl

17:45 that was working at the counter nice enough person but she said I didn't know

17:47 and that was more than enough for me to kind of say well you know what I can't

17:51 just bank on I don't know I'm gonna bank on the idea at least of ordering this

17:54 one online so already asking $89.99 then had to ask me as well the additional

18:00 cost of the tax and the shipping on top of it so I think when it was all said

18:04 and done this guy was a little bit more than $100 whether it was worth the

18:07 hundred dollars at least it does have really good audio let's say for that but
