00:00 It's good to follow the rules, just in case.
00:04 Here's your spooky spot on the Spirit Halloween Trick or Treat Spirit Collectors Box.
00:29 Yes, yes, welcome back, boils and ghouls, as of course we start our series of spooktacular reviews.
00:36 I did want to start things a little bit earlier this time around, simply just because I know there's going to be a big boatload of things I have to get through during the month of Spottober.
00:45 We're going to start things off first with what I found over at Spirit Halloween.
00:49 This was not easy to find, granted. I was actually looking for other things, and I just happened to be going past the checkout line, and sure enough, I looked down and I saw a case.
00:58 It wasn't this case, it was actually a case, I feel like it was probably, just trying to think of actually what it was now, was it Hocus Pocus?
01:06 I think it was either like Hocus Pocus or no, no, it was Harry Potter.
01:10 I picked it up, just assuming, I wasn't sure really what it was, and it looked obviously like a VHS cassette tape box.
01:17 Well, sure enough, looking through the rest of the clamshells they had available, I stumbled across this one here, the Trick or Treat one, of course featuring Sam here in the front of the box.
01:26 Now, of course, I could not pass on this. Not only is this a Spirit Halloween's exclusive, it does contain six ghoulish items inside for one great price.
01:36 That'd be somewhat debatable, of course, once we finally get this opened up, but the fact that it actually looks like an old clamshell case had me sold right away.
01:43 By the way, the price point here in Canada was a very scary $18.99.
01:49 You want to talk scary things, look at the price, $18.99, but featured though on the back, again, not only does this look like an actual original clamshell case,
01:59 but on the back, it does advertise, it does contain, it shows the parts of what you'll find inside, a patch, a button, a decal, and a lanyard.
02:09 Now, right away, you may be looking at that, and even though you're getting two of this and you're getting two of this, that might not still be worth the $18.99 asking price.
02:17 I would imagine though that even underwhelming the items may be inside.
02:21 The idea though that I have myself a clamshell case featuring Trick or Treat, which never really found a light of day when it came to VHS release,
02:28 the idea of actually having a clamshell case I think is pretty cool.
02:31 A neat thing that they also did as well instead of actually having VHS, they had SHV.
02:37 I think that's Spirit Halloween Video.
02:40 That's my guess. Oh, well, actually it says right there, Spirit Halloween and then Home Video.
02:45 So that's what it is, SHV.
02:47 Also, while we're going to be going ahead and opening this up, releasing its ghoulish contents inside, I may actually tack on to this review something separate.
02:56 I didn't think it was going to be really good for just a standalone video.
02:59 I found this at a gas station.
03:01 This is Fanta, zero sugar.
03:03 What the Fanta?
03:05 What the Fanta?
03:07 I guess the idea is really don't know what flavor this is going to be.
03:09 It's a naturally flavored sparkling beverage.
03:12 That's a nice way of saying it just contains a whole lot of sugar.
03:16 But again, I don't know what flavor this is.
03:18 I would imagine it'd probably be like a grape flavor.
03:20 But again, I figured I probably would open this up as we're unbagging this, cutting open the seal to reveal the contents inside.
03:28 I know I'm very yammered away.
03:30 What I think I might, though, do first is I'm going to open up the Fanta and I'm just going to see what flavor this is.
03:36 Now again, this wouldn't have just stood well on its own just to be a separate video.
03:40 But I figured I'd open it up here.
03:42 Of course not, hopefully spill the contents anywhere in the process.
03:45 Yeah, Fanta with a question mark.
03:47 Not really sure exactly what flavor it is.
03:49 But let's still, though, give it a try.
03:51 A pause. A dramatic pause.
03:59 It's very sweet.
04:02 I feel like it's almost a combination between grape,
04:05 a slight, only a slight bit of licorice flavor,
04:09 sort of mixed with Pepsi.
04:11 It's very sweet, though.
04:13 I just want to check. Let's look on the side here.
04:15 How many grams of sugar did this actually have?
04:19 It has, well, zero grams.
04:21 All right, yeah, because it's zero sugar.
04:23 But it's got to have a lot of sweetener in it.
04:26 Just looking at the side contents.
04:28 I know nobody really cares about this, but...
04:30 Yeah, I mean, it doesn't have sugar, but I'm sure it's more than making up for it.
04:34 It doesn't certainly feel like it's got zero sugar.
04:37 It feels like it's got ten times the amount of sugar
04:40 that was normally expected to be in a soda.
04:42 Anyways, I'm just going to seal that up for right now.
04:45 Fanta with question mark.
04:47 Unknown the flavor.
04:49 Again, I would probably say it would be like a grape.
04:51 A little bit of licorice. A little bit of Pepsi.
04:53 That's sort of my guess.
04:55 Anyways, though, back to the review.
04:57 Now, of course, I'm going to grab myself a knife.
04:59 I've got now McCutcheons. He's going to be joining us,
05:01 moving forward through the spooktacular season.
05:03 We're going to cut the tape, or cut the seal, so to speak.
05:06 We're just going to remove the wrapper.
05:08 Now, again, it has six items inside.
05:10 One thing it also says, too, is it has reversible package arts.
05:13 I don't know exactly what that is.
05:15 I'm guessing you could be able to...
05:17 Oh, oh, oh, this is cool.
05:19 Open this up, and inside you've got a VLVHS tape.
05:21 But I guess before we actually check that out,
05:23 I'm just curious to see.
05:25 Okay, so the other side...
05:27 I don't want to rip this.
05:29 Don't want to rip this. There we go.
05:31 So on the other side, so we've got this side here
05:34 that sort of has more of a worn-away cover to it,
05:37 as if this is found in an old video store somewhere.
05:40 And then there's this one that is just a regular cover.
05:43 Now, the thing about this one is this side
05:45 not only doesn't have the wear and tear to it,
05:47 but it also does omit all these extra things.
05:49 So if you don't really like the idea that this advertises
05:52 that it's not a videocassette case,
05:54 it does remove the six items,
05:56 it does remove the Spirit Halloween sticker,
05:58 and it does also remove the reversible package art.
06:00 So it just gives you just a regular insert,
06:02 which I think is good, but I would have also loved
06:05 if they could have carried over a little bit of that wear there as well.
06:08 So it actually did look like an actual case.
06:10 That being said, I know how much time we've already eaten up
06:13 not even looking at the contents,
06:15 but let's just slide this...
06:17 let's just slide this back the other way around,
06:19 just so, again, it looks a little bit more polished.
06:22 Oh, it's going to get everywhere.
06:24 I'm going to rip this.
06:26 Let's not hopefully rip this in the process.
06:28 Should I leave it? Should I leave it?
06:30 Should I proceed? Let's just proceed.
06:32 Slide this all the way in.
06:34 It really was never intended.
06:36 Obviously it was by the fact that they advertised it on it,
06:39 but just to do this in front of camera...
06:41 Do I have it all the way on there?
06:43 I have it almost all... OK, there we go.
06:45 So that's what it looks like with the reversible cover,
06:48 which I'm sure is probably going to be the way I'm going to be displaying it.
06:50 If I overlook the fact it has Spirit Home Video on the top there,
06:53 I mean, it does actually legitimately look
06:55 like a trick-or-treat case from back in the '80s.
06:57 That being said, though, let's pull out the video cassette box.
07:00 And this is, again, like really nice packaging.
07:02 You've got the trick-or-treat label there on the front,
07:04 on the top there also as well.
07:06 And it says, "We must rewind. You to rewind."
07:09 Oh, "We must remind you to rewind."
07:13 All right, I'll get my act together.
07:15 I'm going to open up the top of the box there.
07:18 And I'm going to keep this, too.
07:20 I want to make sure that looks just as good, I feel.
07:23 And I just want to make sure I've got all the contents out there.
07:25 Let's just put this to the side.
07:27 Well, for the presentation purpose of it at all,
07:29 let's just have that there. Let's have that there.
07:31 There we go. And let's look at the things that we actually got.
07:33 So, first of all, we got ourselves a patch.
07:35 Of course, it's Sam's lollipop, already half-bitten.
07:38 He's going to cut somebody's throat with that.
07:41 That's a nice little patch.
07:43 Actually, looking at it, it looks like it's glowing in the dark,
07:45 even though obviously it's not. The lights are still on,
07:47 unless your eyes are closed.
07:49 So that's kind of cool. A little patch.
07:51 I'm sure I could sew that onto my denim jacket.
07:53 Got a couple of pins also as well,
07:55 one of which being a jack-o-lantern,
07:57 the other one being a... it says, "Always check your candy."
07:59 I like that.
08:01 Just very small pins.
08:03 I kind of wish that they were a little bit bigger,
08:05 but still decent-looking pins.
08:07 And then we've got some... should I really open these?
08:09 I guess you guys, if you wanted to see what these look like opened,
08:13 let's carefully, quickly, quickly,
08:15 because I know you've got places you need to go,
08:17 people you need to see.
08:19 Should I just grab the knife? Let's just grab the knife.
08:21 Let's cut that right open.
08:23 Let's not drop the pins in the process.
08:25 There we go.
08:27 So the first one is a jack-o-lantern.
08:29 One of the jack-o-lanterns actually we see on the poster,
08:33 and I think also in the movie.
08:35 And then we've got this one here,
08:37 "Always check your candy, 1031."
08:39 A good rule to follow, that's for sure.
08:41 And then we've also got ourselves a couple of stickers, I believe.
08:45 So we're going to open those up also as well.
08:47 I don't think I need a knife to do this.
08:49 Is everybody, by the way, looking forward to Halloween this year?
08:53 I know I am.
08:55 The first one we have is a really interesting art.
08:57 This has Sam, but as you can see,
08:59 it does have half the side of his mask ripped away,
09:02 and he's got a big bag of candy.
09:04 Although looking at the candy, I see there's teeth,
09:07 I see there's human organs,
09:09 and I think I'm also seeing a human hand.
09:11 I don't know what doors Sam is going up to
09:14 to get a treat, a series of treats like this.
09:17 That's a pretty cool-looking sticker, though.
09:19 And then the other one we had,
09:21 we have this one, which is basically all the kids from the bus.
09:24 Wrong way, wrong way, wrong way.
09:26 These, by the way, you just simply peel the back off.
09:29 I'm going to stick those somewhere.
09:31 I don't know whereabouts I'm going to be sticking them just yet,
09:33 but believe you me, believe, I will find a spot for that.
09:36 And then the last thing we have is a lanyard.
09:39 I've actually been on the market lately looking for a lanyard,
09:42 just with the way my work is right now.
09:44 You really have to have your card visible at all times.
09:47 I could use myself this little lanyard here.
09:50 The lanyard, oh, has a hollyho chocolate bar on the end of it,
09:54 made of fairly soft rubbery plastic.
09:57 And then, of course, we've got the little insert card.
09:59 You don't have to necessarily use the trick-or-treat card provided in the inside.
10:03 You could simply just, you know, again, take the card out.
10:06 Which side is it supposed to-- oh, it's on this side.
10:08 Slide the card out, and then, of course,
10:10 you would just be able to insert your card in there.
10:12 You could also just put your name tag in there,
10:14 and it says, "Hey, hi, I'm so-and-so, John McCutcheons."
10:18 "Oh, you're of the same McCutcheons clan as my knife?"
10:21 And then, of course, we've got on the actual lanyard cable,
10:24 we've got trick-or-treat on the one side.
10:27 And I'm guessing it looks to be part of Sam's mask,
10:30 and his lollipop on the other side.
10:33 So that's not bad, not bad.
10:36 The thing about it, though-- I'm just going to kind of look through, once again,
10:39 all the things we got. So we've got a lanyard.
10:41 We've got a couple of rather interesting stickers.
10:44 I just happen to have dropped one of them onto the floor.
10:48 There we go. We've got Sam, and then we've got, of course,
10:51 the bus-riding kids. Wrong way, wrong way.
10:54 And then we've got a couple of pins.
10:56 And we all started this, of course, with a patch.
10:58 Now, if I was to, say, collectively add everything up
11:01 based on what we've got right here,
11:03 I would say maybe like $5 worth of stuff.
11:05 So I think if only-- like, if it was just a bag,
11:08 let's just say it was a bag with "Trick or Treat" on the front of it,
11:11 and then it contained all of these items,
11:13 I don't know if I would necessarily say it was worth the scary price of $18.99.
11:18 Granted, though, the fact that it was actually contained
11:21 inside of a cardboard box that replicates an old VHS tape,
11:25 and the fact that it also came inside of a clamshell case
11:28 that looks like an old case that we would have had
11:30 from the old video store days.
11:32 I think for the $18.99 asking price, that's not bad at all.
11:36 If it was anything more than that, let's say well into the 20s,
11:39 or I don't dare even say $30,
11:42 I think that would be a little on the steeper side.
11:45 But I think for $18.99 here-- Canadian asking prices, of course--
11:49 I think that's a pretty good price, all in all.
11:51 And, of course, at the end of it, I still have myself
11:53 a nice little clamshell case, overlooking, of course,
11:56 the obvious, that Spirit Halloween on the top there.
11:58 But I think it's still a believable enough case
12:00 that I think it's going to look good on the shelf
12:02 with, like, my old VHS tapes that I've been now collecting.
12:05 What do you guys think? Do you think this is something
12:07 that would be worth the price of asking?
12:09 Like $18.99, do you think that's a little high?
12:11 Do you think that's a little low? Do you think that's just right, baby bear?
12:13 Let me know down below in the comments section.
12:15 And, of course, if you guys are interested to get this one for yourself,
12:17 it is available as of right now at Spirit Halloween.
12:20 That should now all be opened up.
12:22 One of them opened a little further away from me.
12:25 That was actually the first one I went to.
12:27 But the most local one to me,
12:29 which isn't as local as it was the last year.
12:32 Last year's was ideal. It was only five minutes away.
12:34 But I guess the most closest one to me
12:37 just opened at the time of shooting this video, like last week.
12:40 So, of course, now we're having a look at all these things.
12:42 And more, of course, spookerific things
12:44 will be coming your way during the month of Spontober.
12:47 If you guys enjoyed this video, why not hit it with a like?
12:50 If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing
12:52 and you're on board for more spooky spots for 2023,
12:55 rest assured, more will be coming your way.
12:57 Of course, as always, guys, thanks for watching.
12:59 See you guys next time.
