00:00 Even in death, there is no command but mine. Here's a look at the brand new 3-0
00:04 Transformers Revenge of the Fallen DLX Megatron.
00:26 At 11.2 inches tall, the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen DLX Megatron
00:32 collectible figure features approximately 53 points of articulation
00:36 with a die-cast metal frame and LED illuminated eyes. The tank treads on the
00:40 knee joints replicate the rotating mechanisms as seen in the movie with
00:44 interlinking shin function that runs through the ankle with exceptional
00:48 articulation. Accessories include one fusion cannon that is interchanged with
00:52 with right forearm, two pairs of interchangeable hands and a DLX action
00:56 stand for more dynamic poses. Don't think you can keep this Decepticon leader in
01:01 the watery depths indefinitely. Before of course we get a closer look at the brand
01:05 new 3-0 Revenge of the Fallen Megatron, I'd like to first thank the folks over
01:09 at 3-0 that did kindly provide the sample we could have a look at. DLX
01:13 Megatron by the way from Revenge of the Fallen is slated to release the third
01:17 quarter of 2023 with many online sites showing their pre-orders at $239.99.
01:23 That being said, let's go ahead and grab the tape measure and see how tall the
01:26 leader stands and if we take it right to the very top of his head you're looking
01:31 at Megatron standing again about 11 and a half inches in height or the figure is
01:35 going to be about 29 and a half centimeters tall. As for a couple of
01:40 comparisons, I figured I'd bring in another DLX figure so you can see really
01:43 how big Megatron stands. This by the way is Bumblebee from Rise of the Beasts and
01:47 I think scale-wise even though they are technically from two different films, I
01:51 think Megatron would scale well with Bumblebee based on the way he is in the
01:55 movie compared with the other say Autobots. Another figure we can also
01:58 bring in as well just to get proper perspective of how big Megatron stands.
02:02 Here's what he looks like to his right, the MDLX Megatron also released by 3-0.
02:07 While we are still speaking of stands, Megatron in fact does come included with
02:11 the stand. It so happens to be the same display stand as we've gotten with most
02:15 DLX releases. I think most by now have all come in with this type of
02:19 display stand. It's molded here though in all black plastic. You can see that
02:23 it's hollow in the undercarriage of it but though featured on the front we've
02:26 got 3-0 and Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. As always the case is before you
02:30 take the adjustable neck and it snaps in both in the front section of it as well
02:34 snaps in the back and you can kind of see where those tab pieces go. From there
02:38 the neck is adjustable so you can move it up and down. There is a unlocking
02:42 mechanism feature right here. See the little lever here when you press it down
02:46 for example it locks it in place though when you bring it up it allows the neck
02:50 to slide forward and back to get the desired position that you want to have
02:54 it. From there you can also take the end of the neck and extend it. A telescoping
02:58 neck that does make quite a lot of rat-rat-loud ratcheted joint whenever you
03:03 are extending it and of course just to then retract it and you're just gonna
03:07 press this button right here and it pushes back down into place. The end of
03:10 it does have a connecting point that if you then look at Megatron for example
03:14 we're gonna flip the figure around on the back of the figure's body there is a
03:18 little peg point right here you have to kind of look at the section that looks
03:22 like a Y. I know there's a lot of parts to Megatron that all sort of look like
03:25 he's just mangled metal but take this part right here and then this is the
03:29 part that's gonna plug on to the back of the figure's body. Now of course in order
03:32 to do that you can't simply just move this up and down in order to actually
03:36 angle it. To change the angle you have to pull it out rotate it to where you want
03:40 to get the desired look and then just plug it back into place and it stays
03:43 really well locked in place. From there you're gonna attach it on to the back of
03:47 Megatron's behind and then that just again you want to just make sure
03:51 everything's kind of locked in place but that does give Megatron then a display
03:54 stand. I don't think honestly I mean unless you really are planning to get
03:57 Megatron and there's a lot of weight really in Megatron's body I don't know
04:01 if I'd necessarily want to really put him on a display stand. The display stand
04:05 to be fair though does give him a nice little finished look and what I've
04:08 actually honestly done with some of my other DLX releases is I've actually
04:12 tended to take the neck off completely and just leave the display stand as it
04:16 is behind. Now it does granted leave a big hole on the back of the display
04:20 stand but still though I'd much rather I think for the larger bots at
04:23 least have the display stand serving more as just a placard a way to just
04:28 kind of showcase what movie they're actually from. Megatron though I think
04:32 from his weight just by just the sheer size and mass of the figures body I
04:36 don't know if again I would necessarily use the display stand but the display
04:39 stand of course is always there if you want to put him in any more of a
04:42 dynamic pose than what he is right now and then of course we'll just take the
04:44 back piece here plug it into the back of the figures body and let's have a look
04:48 at the accessories that come included with the figure. Now he doesn't come with
04:52 much Megatron only really includes both his fusion cannon that's gonna swap
04:56 out then for his full forearm and then he also comes with a series of
04:59 interchangeable hands based on the way that the pegs are configured on the back
05:02 they are they seem to be universal that even though really in the instructions
05:07 one is specifically designed it says to be on the left side one is then
05:10 specifically designed to then be on the right side but I don't think it honestly
05:14 matters just again because of the sizing of the holes they're exactly the same so
05:18 if you really wanted to you could I'm sure swap these around. The figure also
05:22 like I said does come included with a very large fusion cannon one consistent
05:26 trend you'll see with the entirety of this review is the fact that all the
05:29 pieces on Megatron look as if they've been rusted away. Megatron after all has
05:34 been just discovered at the beginning of the movie and sort of now just left
05:36 behind you sort of a rusted state of his former self. I do really like to look at
05:41 the fusion cannon now whereas his head for example will have a light up feature
05:45 LED on the eyes it doesn't actually have anything LED related here on the fusion
05:49 cannon I feel there could have been an opportunity where they could have put an
05:52 actual light source here right in the middle and then found a way to
05:55 incorporate a battery compartment that though granted may have also increased
05:59 the price of Megatron who again based on his size at being at a what $240 that
06:04 may have also increased the price by like another 10 to 15 maybe it's for the
06:08 best that they decide not to leave not to put the battery compartment in there
06:11 but I think also just by the fact it's actually there like just a hole where
06:15 you would imagine that that would be where his blast would come out of I
06:18 would imagine that could be a place where they could have potentially have
06:21 put one. Now the fusion cannon does fit onto this side of the figure's body in
06:25 order to do that you're gonna have to first remove the arm and then replace it
06:29 in place. I suppose before we actually do that I do want to show you guys the
06:32 battery compartment because we were after all talking about the battery
06:34 compartment for the fusion cannon I did want to show you where the battery
06:37 compartment was though on Megatron's eyes we're gonna just kind of move the
06:40 hands out of the way and I'll show you guys how to all that change out the
06:42 hands in a second let's go carefully pick up Megatron now he is though quite
06:46 heavy looking at the head sculpt here first of all I really think they've done
06:50 a great job on Megatron I would love to at some point get an original
06:55 Megatron from the what 2000 was the 2007 movie I think that would be also great
06:59 to touch if they haven't already done one now Megatron does have a light up
07:03 eyes the eyes themselves require two AG 13 batteries which unfortunately with
07:08 most of the cases with three zero releases you don't tend to get the
07:11 batteries but they are pretty easy to come by I got myself an entire tray in
07:14 fact I think I got two trays for around the price of twelve to fifteen dollars
07:18 so it wasn't too bad I actually got lots of extra batteries to work with but what
07:22 we will though do is I'm just gonna take the top cover off here I wanted to show
07:25 you where the battery compartment is housed the lights have unfortunately
07:29 already turned on but the battery compartment is actually located on the
07:31 inside here what you'll do first is you'll have to remove this top canopy
07:34 piece and then from there you're gonna have to also let me just turn off the
07:38 lights here what you'll have to do also as well the light source actually the
07:42 battery button is located a little bit further down but this whole carriage
07:46 that basically this whole battery compartment just slides right out it's a
07:49 little hard once you've got it far enough in there to retrieve it again but
07:53 it's simply just a case you're gonna pop this right out from there you're
07:55 gonna then put the part of Megatron's head back in place but you want to make
07:58 sure it's far enough down because there's a little activation button right
08:02 here and if you don't have it far enough in it won't actually work to turn off
08:06 and off the batteries so you will want to make sure that he has his sort of
08:09 work makeshift crown far enough down there we go and I rhymed and didn't
08:14 realize it but if you have it far enough down once you then press the button
08:17 again it should successfully turn on and off the eyes if you don't have it far
08:23 enough down though you may want to just make sure you got it pushed far enough
08:25 in and again we're just gonna press the button again like I don't think I have
08:29 it now that I've just there we go press the little button there on the front and
08:32 not only does it then turn off the eyes but also turns them on again the eyes
08:36 though are small and luckily they are red not for that they probably would be
08:41 lost amongst all the rubble is display of his face here but I really think like
08:45 the eyes do look good I mean because again that they're very very small it's
08:49 almost really hard to make them out far enough away you can still see that
08:52 Megatron has glowing eyes but because again like his papers are so small
08:55 they're a little harder to make out say unlike the likes of bumblebee for
08:59 example let's just turn those eyes off for right now and actually just before
09:02 we do that I want to quickly once again show you guys the head sculpt carries
09:06 over mostly the traditional of the original design of Megatron from the
09:09 first film again the only thing that's really notably different here is the
09:13 fact his body is kind of a little bit more mangled and certainly a lot more
09:16 rusted as well there is no pose ability in the mouth I kind of wish in a way
09:20 that the mouth would be able to open and close just a little bit but again it
09:23 still fully retains all the articulation that comes with the territory of DLX
09:27 releases let's go ahead right now and just press the button again we're just
09:30 gonna turn it off because I don't want to be draining the batteries again you
09:33 need to buy those batteries the first time you're buying Megatron as for the
09:36 rest of the figures body now I did already say that we were gonna be
09:39 looking at the fusion cannon and the hands the hands for example are just a
09:42 case where you're gonna wiggle the hand off for example just detach them like
09:46 that let me just get a little bit closer you can see what I did you know remove
09:49 the hand you can see it's a very simple to remove peg you're just gonna pop it
09:53 off like that and then you're gonna replace it with again in the
09:56 instructions it does say that this is specifically the left hand so again like
10:00 that's just gonna be plugging into place the thing you will want to be careful of
10:03 when it comes to the fusion cannon as well as the hands is because Megatron is
10:06 made up of such small parts you really have to be careful that you're not
10:10 putting pressure against these like the plastic is still soft enough where I
10:13 feel like there's a little bit of give to it it's not brittle plastic as if it
10:16 was brittle plastic you'd have a bigger problem on your hands when you are
10:19 installing the hands of Megatron but because again these are softer plastic I
10:23 don't feel you really have to worry but you really just don't want to put a lot
10:25 of pressure against them and then from there you're gonna then just take the
10:28 hands and attach them on to the pegs like that just sort of wiggle them in
10:32 place so that's Megatron with his one arm with his one hand and then again you
10:36 simply rinse and repeat on the other side here as well now again like if you
10:39 wanted to say use this hand which is again by the instructions at least
10:43 indicated as the right hand say if you wanted to have it on this side because
10:46 again like it's just using the same ball pegs after all just again I plug this
10:50 into place you don't have to necessarily commit to the idea that Megatron has to
10:53 have the designated hands as listed in the instructions on this side and this
10:57 side you can swap them around certainly if you want to as well the last thing of
11:02 course what we will do is remove the fusion cannon you don't have to
11:05 necessarily remove the hand for this I mean all ultimately really what you're
11:08 only gonna be doing is you're gonna be removing the entire form twist it to the
11:11 point and then sort of pull it as you're doing it and you're twisting it just to
11:15 enough just right to the point where you're actually gonna be removing it
11:18 altogether and you left behind with a very sturdy metal peg the peg does move
11:23 back and forth I did have to kind of wiggle this around a little bit just to
11:26 kind of soften up because when I first took this out of this packaging I found
11:29 like this hinge joint was extremely tight to tight to the point where I
11:33 almost felt like something was gonna break but the construction and build
11:36 underneath Megatron's body is all heavy metal so it's very unlikely that
11:41 anything's gonna be breaking at least on the metal joints maybe some of the
11:44 plastic over top of it might be a bigger problem for you the one thing also with
11:47 the fusion cannon though is it plugs in place you can see there's the hole on
11:51 the inside of it but like the hands though especially with the fusion cannon
11:54 when you are putting it on the peg for example you really want to resist
11:58 putting pressure against there's a little few extra piece that sit higher
12:02 than the rest of the fusion cannon like this piece here for example and a few of
12:05 these little extra back pieces here you really want to make sure that you're
12:08 not putting pressure against that when you're putting it against the peg
12:10 because again you don't want to snap the plastic the metal is a little bit more
12:13 forgiving the plastic though is not so again we're just gonna line let me just
12:17 show you what I'm doing here we're gonna line up this peg and we're gonna line it
12:20 up to this hole now if you have any problems doing this you can also sort of
12:24 you can either take like a screwdriver and sort of dowel the hole just a little
12:27 bit bigger or what you can also try to do although it's a little harder to do
12:31 is you can also take yourself either hot water or even a hair dryer and just sort
12:36 of navigate soften the plastic just enough that the peg then will allow it I
12:39 don't have it in all the way just because again I don't want to have to
12:42 fight to get that off but just show you what it looks like with the fusion
12:45 cannon now on his forearm or what was left at least of his form does look
12:48 really good especially when it comes to displaying this guy I will be going the
12:52 route of displaying him with the fusion cannon does it does add not only the
12:56 fusion cannon Megatron would have had in the generation one cartoon to some
12:59 extent of course at least but it also gives him a little bit of also
13:02 non-symmetry I mean the thing about this Megatron design is he's a little bit
13:06 more symmetrical kind of in a body standpoint but then when you kind of get
13:09 to his shoulders and his arms very different from one another and I think
13:12 like the fusion cannon just sort of lends more to the idea that Megatron
13:15 looks very differently designed on one side than he does on the rest on the
13:18 other side of his body let's go ahead and remove the fusion cannon for right
13:21 now I'm gonna actually just put his arm back in place because it's gonna make
13:24 things a whole lot easier when it comes to the articulation again just gonna
13:27 line the peg then up to the hole we're gonna fit that in place the thing about
13:31 Megatron though as I've already mentioned several times already is this
13:34 this particular design of Megatron has dropped his hand but this design of
13:38 Megatron does have so many smaller little pieces that stick up that you
13:42 really want to be careful that you're not bending any of them in the process
13:45 let's just replace this hand for right now there we go all right getting though
13:52 a closer look at Megatron's body it's really sort of mod podge of different
13:56 pieces of metal but like the metal is so well painted and sculpted like you can
14:00 see like there's multiple layers of stuff going on here we've already looked
14:03 and established the fact that Megatron has really quite a scary looking face
14:06 what left of the face he does have but like all this additional metals that
14:10 they've painted not only in the dark gunmetal gray but then also to go back
14:14 in there and add the additional rusting that he has really does bring a lot of
14:18 the character then to the figures body I'm gonna spin this around so you can
14:21 see it from the back he has his engine thrusters there on the back of the
14:24 figures torso nicely handled and painted there in gold but again like all this
14:28 additional rusting that they've added to his body lends quite well because if not
14:32 for that like he'd have primarily just an all-silver body the rusting I feel
14:37 really does add a lot of character and personality to the figures body now just
14:41 to though look at it there you would look at this and think that there's not
14:44 really a lot of moving components you'll see in a second there is quite a lot
14:47 this particular design of Megatron also now has tank treads the treads
14:52 themselves don't actually serve to move so if you're looking at these for
14:55 example and expecting the treads to actually move independently they don't
14:58 but it still manages to retain articulation in the ankle so they've
15:02 done a nice job of not only having the design and the function in there but
15:05 also incorporating still articulation I'm not disappointed the fact that the
15:08 treads don't actually move I mean to incorporate moving treads to an already
15:13 big and bulky metal figure like this would certainly also increase the price
15:16 and it would involve a lot more additional developing of course in order
15:20 to have these as functioning treads the treads themselves as you can see kind of
15:24 collapse inward as it is the bottom of obviously Megatron's feet but those
15:28 again have been nicely painted here some additional dry brushing of silver paint
15:32 been also added and forwarded there to the treads so it does really add again a
15:36 lot of extra character to Megatron's body for the figures articulation we're
15:41 gonna kind of move his arm first out of the way Megatron's head does move
15:44 forward and back as you could probably expect it though just by how much is
15:47 going on there with the figures design that's a little harder to kind of get
15:51 his head to rotate all the way around you can get to about about there and then
15:54 things sort of get hung up on the back of the figures body the head does look
15:58 though up and it does look down and it does also rock back and forth as well
16:01 still though I kind of wish that the figure could have had mouth articulation
16:05 but again like a small sacrifice I'm sure has to be made in order to get such
16:09 a good-looking head sculpt like this now when it comes to his arms the arms are
16:13 rather interesting in the sense that his shoulders hinge outward this helps to
16:17 not only be able to bring the figures arms outward without having the worry of
16:20 the shoulders getting in the way of things but it also as well if you wanted
16:23 to have say the shoulders a little bit closer to his body you sort of just
16:27 collapse them inward like that or again like you can also bring them out also as
16:30 well and have them closer to his to this section of his shoulder but the arms
16:34 though I guess first of all his shoulders have hinge joints there's a
16:37 hinge joint right there and there's one a little further from that this moves
16:40 the of course this back and forth there I thought there may have been actually a
16:44 ball joint but not the case at all there's just it's just a straight hinge
16:47 joint but the arms do I hinge outward there's also a secondary socket joint
16:52 there right at the top of the shoulder so you can also move the arms out this
16:55 way as well the arms go forward and they also go back and I guess realistically
17:00 you could rotate them all the way around you just want to be careful of all the
17:03 extra little pieces of plastic that stick out from Megatron's body he has a
17:07 swivel at the bicep yes actually I should say a hinge in his bicep and he
17:12 has a swivel hinge down below here so he has a hinge where the elbow would
17:16 normally have been he also has a hinge joint there also in the elbow so you can
17:19 bend Megatron's arms there and his hands also rotate all the way around it's just
17:23 a little harder to do of course because there's so much going on here upper
17:27 torso on Megatron does have a crunch so you can bring Megatron's body further
17:31 forward if you want to it also does arch back also as well so if you want to have
17:35 a little bit higher a back of a reach and of course it does also rotate as
17:38 well in addition to that Megatron's lower abdomen area does also rotate as
17:42 it does have a serviceable ball joint it doesn't allow you so much the crunch
17:47 because of course the crunch is gonna be at the top of the figures body but at
17:50 least it allows a swivel at the waist he does also have these little skirting
17:54 pieces that actually have hinge joints so that also helps quite a lot when it
17:58 comes to figures legs you just want to make sure that these are out when it
18:01 comes to moving the legs outward because of course you don't want to clip these
18:03 and break them off in the process Megatron's legs do split out about that
18:07 far every time I do this by the way I was worried that there's like a little
18:11 lip of plastic I'm going to show you there right at the very top of his thigh
18:15 that rubs really close in quarters to this section right here that when you
18:19 are moving it you can kind of feel I feel it at least that this parts rubbing
18:22 the plastic so you don't maybe don't want to have the legs split that far you
18:26 can also certainly as well take Megatron's legs and move quite far
18:29 forward I mean about 90 degree angle bend give or take and as well the figure
18:33 does have a knee bend which is rather interesting because when you bend the
18:36 knee even though I did mention earlier that the treads don't actually move they
18:40 only really move at the knee and it kind of gives you this really interesting
18:43 look because when you are rotating it the treads are actually rotating as well
18:46 really cool I like the way they done that of course when it comes to the
18:50 ankles the ankles do move back and forth this way you can also rock them back and
18:54 forth this way as well so like Megatron for a guy who's big bulk in really made
18:58 up of many parts the figure has surprisingly a lot of articulation going
19:02 for him of course whether the design for you at least is to have the figure
19:06 displayed on your shelf with a fusion cannon or not the figure doesn't have
19:09 much though in the way of accessories maybe not say the likes of bumblebee but
19:13 he has I think the things that count for example swappable hands he has what two
19:17 pairs of interchangeable hands not to mention again a big and bulky fusion
19:21 cannon that can then be attached onto this side of the figures body all in all
19:25 though a nice-looking Megatron Megatron though does sort of split the fandom in
19:30 the way that whether you like the design of Megatron from the movies or you're
19:34 not as crazy about the design of Megatron from the movies I actually
19:36 really liked the look of Megatron in the first and second film I feel like he's
19:40 sort of devolved devolved after that but the initial core designs of Megatron
19:45 stuck with me I think it's one of the really neat designs of a really cool big
19:48 bad guy in a movie and I think while this isn't necessarily the first film
19:52 Megatron it carries over again a lot of the cool designs that made Megatron so
19:56 menacing in the first film the additional rust a metal that they've
20:00 added to an entirety of his body does again bring a lot of character to an
20:03 otherwise all-silver body yeah I think three zero has done a really great job
20:07 and the revenge of the fallen Megatron here so if you'd like to get your hands
20:11 on revenge of the fallen DLX Megatron once again the figure slated to release
20:14 the third quarter of 2023 so listings right now of being pre-orders on many of
20:19 the online sites should now show stock anytime now and the price of course for
20:23 Megatron once again is $239.99 which again I I think is an incredible price I
20:27 always say this about three zero the fact that they're able to put high-end
20:30 collectibles out like that onto the market for the price that they're doing
20:34 it for considering that this guy is die-cast mace mostly a metal body frame
20:38 and then they've added the plastic pieces over top of it I think for $239.99
20:42 consider if any other company considering say a specific company was
20:47 also to handle the Transformers license what they'd likely be selling Megatron
20:51 for I don't think it'd be $239.99 I think it'd be probably closer to four to
20:55 four hundred and fifty dollars I think again for $239.99 you're getting a really
20:59 good-looking Megatron not much though in the way of accessories again two pairs
21:02 of interchangeable hands not to mention is very large fusion cannon and the
21:06 figure of course does feature LED eyes they're not as bright and large as say
21:10 for example the rise of the beast bumblebee that we looked at before but
21:14 they're just enough bright that you can still make out that Megatron is alive
21:18 big thank you once again to the folks over at three zero that did provide this
21:21 sample the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
21:23 DLX scale collectible series Megatron that we had the chance to have a look in
