00:00 Indiana can whip it. Whip it good. Here's a look at the brand-new Hasbro
00:04 Indiana Jones Whip Action Indy.
00:08 Swing into the adventures of Indiana Jones featuring endearing companions,
00:18 notorious villains, explosions, spiders, snakes, booby traps and insurmountable
00:23 odds. Kids ages 4 and up can press the satchel on the Whip Action Indy figures
00:28 back for real whip action as well as iconic sound effects and phrases from
00:32 the Indiana Jones movies. While I may not be packing a whip I do carry around
00:36 though my trusty tape measure and this will allow us to of course measure off
00:40 just how tall the brand-new Whip Action Indy stands. While as well I'm doing this
00:44 I'd like to thank the folks over at Hasbro that did provide the sample we
00:47 could have a look at. Whip Action Indy should be available right now in stores
00:50 if you guys are interested to get one for yourself. Though the figure in this
00:53 case stands 12 inches in height or Whip Action Indy is 30 centimeters tall. Maybe
00:59 unable to do the math in your head as to just how tall 30 centimeters is. Well
01:03 let's bring in a figure for comparisons and no better of a figure to bring in
01:07 than the one from the brand-new arc of the Covenant line. I'm putting it in a
01:11 convenient place like this just right above the right under the whip just to
01:14 show you that when you take this Indiana Jones from the Artifacts series and you
01:18 put them along with Whip Action Indy he is exactly the same height as the whip
01:22 that this Indiana Jones is carrying around in his hand. The figure of Indy
01:26 not only is packing a whip but also includes audio clips not only of the
01:30 whip action itself but also phrases from Harrison Ford himself. At least it sounds
01:35 like Harrison Ford. To accommodate those sound effects though the figure does
01:38 require a button cell batteries. Luckily you'll be happy to know that Hasbro has
01:42 included the button cell batteries on the back of Indy's leg and in a moment
01:46 I'll turn the figure around you'll know exactly where they go. Picking the figure
01:48 up though and flipping it around not again I have to draw a lot of attention
01:51 exactly where the battery compartment is. These are LR44 batteries or A76
01:56 batteries and you know really for the size of what the compartment space is I
02:00 would have almost just imagined that they would have used a triple AAA
02:03 battery instead but maybe it just doesn't omit the kind of power that
02:06 button cell batteries can be but unfortunately button cell batteries
02:09 don't tend to be cheap when you compare them to say double A's or triple A's.
02:12 Either way though you would unscrew this at some point when of course the
02:15 batteries start to drain or if unfortunately you're one of those
02:17 victims of picking up a figure in a store that kids have already repeatedly
02:21 touched the satchel bag on the back of his body. If that's the case again you're
02:25 just gonna unscrew this compartment here replace out the button cell batteries
02:28 and then you're good to go again. Speaking though while we're looking at
02:31 the back of the compartment here for the buttons I will also draw your attention
02:34 to the fact that there's a lot of screw holes here on the back of poor Indy's
02:36 legs. He has two on the bombs of his legs and then he has what seems to be
02:41 another series of holes there on the back of his body where I guess the
02:43 figure had to be screwed together. It's a little ugly here in the back I had to
02:47 admit but again at least when you're looking at from the front short of maybe
02:51 the space where they've actually allotted for the speakers but the only
02:54 thing that really looks out of place here on Indiana Jones. Again when it
02:57 comes to the actual sound effects are all cycled through by pressing the
03:00 satchel bag on the back of his body. Actually what the satchel bag is it's
03:05 attached on what seems to be a button underneath it. When you are pressing this
03:08 you're depressing down a switch that essentially not only does flick his arm
03:12 forward but also then emits sound effects or phrases from the character.
03:16 You can actually even do it without really even pressing the satchel bag
03:20 as you already saw me do it already. Even if you just move his arm up and down it
03:24 does still emit the sound of the whip but to get the most effective and
03:27 coolest way of doing it simply again you're just gonna press the button here
03:30 on the big bag on the back of his body and when you press it it's gonna whip
03:34 forward the whip and it will continue to make the sound of the whip providing
03:42 that you're pressing the back of it. It's not only until actually you let go of
03:46 the button that Indiana Jones does actually start to say anything which he
03:53 should have already said something. Let's try that again. One thing actually is a
04:02 good example of this is it doesn't always give you an Indiana Jones phrase.
04:05 Periodically though while whipping it sometimes I have noticed that it does
04:12 say an Indiana Jones phrase and other times it does not. But I do like the idea
04:17 that at least you can continue to press the button and the whip will continue
04:20 whip forward and back. It also makes also somewhat grunting noises too so it's not
04:25 simply always just a whip. You probably can hear some of the if you can actually
04:28 even hear my voice you can hear some of the grunting noises also kind of mixed
04:32 in there with the sounding of the whip. As for Indy's phrases there's about I
04:42 think four phrases that cycles through.
04:46 What I'm really admittingly impressed by is the fact it does seem like that is
04:58 really Harrison Ford. I would imagine they would have simply just pulled the
05:00 clip. It's not like they would have had the actor the aged actor coming into a
05:03 sound stage where they actually would have had to say the phrases. They
05:06 probably would have then just pulled it from the actual films themselves. But a
05:09 lot of times usually when you get movie tying figures like this they tend
05:13 ultimately let's all face facts they usually bring in some of the it sounds
05:16 somewhat close or sometimes not even close at all to sound like the actor. But
05:20 in this case actually it sounds like it's Harrison Ford. I'm really impressed
05:22 by the fact that they did do that. Even if you don't even look at the fact
05:26 that it does have audio clips nor the big slots in the front of his body it's
05:29 actually a pretty good likeness I would have to say as well for Indiana Jones. I
05:32 might even say as well it looks more like Indiana Jones than the Artifacts
05:37 series Indiana we looked at earlier. He has a really good head sculpt. I mean the
05:41 paint is pretty good on this and for being more I would consider it like a
05:43 kid's toy I think it's actually a nailing a better looking likeness to
05:47 Harrison Ford. The fedora is not removable it's all one part piece but at
05:51 least he does actually have head articulation. He can move his head back
05:53 and forth. He can somewhat move it up and down and also you can also move this
05:58 arm all the way around as well. What's interesting though is that this arm
06:01 only rotates one way. Well only rotates in the way that it rotates at the
06:05 shoulder whereas actually this one does have a hinge joint but works more so for
06:08 the fact that he's actually carrying around a whip. The whip itself is a
06:11 fairly long bit of soft plastic. It certainly does work well as a whip as
06:16 you are moving the arm back and forth. He has some decent coloring overall for the
06:19 body. He does also swing as well. That's part of the one other gimmick that is
06:23 included with this figure. So while you are pressing the button not only is he
06:26 also going to be swinging his arm but he's also be
06:31 swinging his waist. His waist actually works better I feel that when you're
06:34 pressing the satchel if you sort of twist your finger see what I'm doing
06:38 maybe right there instead of just pressing in because if you press it in
06:40 all he's gonna be doing is just moving the whip but if you press it and move
06:44 his body you can again get some really cool whipping action going that way as
06:48 well. The rest of his body doesn't have any articulations. It's basically a
06:53 sculpted base and again he's got some really cool looking sculpting again even
06:57 in his shoes as well. If you can just overlook the fact that yeah he does have
07:00 holes big screw holes on the back of his body. You know all things said it's not a
07:04 bad Indiana Jones at all and just again to move this guy front and center and
07:08 just to bring in the other earlier Indiana Jones in some ways I actually
07:12 kind of wish that the smaller Indiana Jones more articulate in Indiana Jones
07:16 the one actually came with parts of the Ark of the Covenant I kind of wish that
07:19 he had a closer head sculpt to the one that we actually get here for whip
07:23 action indie. Not only is whip action indie a fun figure to play
07:27 around with but I think he also looks a lot more like Harrison Ford and a lot
07:31 more like Indiana Jones. While sure maybe Hasbro may have approached whip action
07:36 indie with kids in mind, the person behind the camera is far being a kid, I
07:39 love this toy. In fact I've probably spent a good couple of hours actually
07:42 whipping Indy's whip back and forth and being able to hear the sound effects not
07:46 only of the whip but also phrases from Indiana Jones himself and not only is it
07:51 a fun toy to play with but it also looks a lot like Indiana Jones. I mean even
07:55 just again as we brought in the comparison for the Artifacts series
07:58 Indiana Jones, while I did like the look of that figure and I still like the fact
08:01 that we get super poseable Indiana Jones figures, honestly though the one that we
08:05 get here for whip action indie from a head sculpt standpoint I think looks
08:08 better than the Artifacts series Indiana Jones that we actually got. From the
08:12 front it looks great, from the back yeah you see a whole lot more holes and
08:15 things that are screwed together kind of keeping all Indiana Jones together but
08:19 from the front it looks like a great-looking collectible whether you
08:21 end up playing it with the whip or not. Likely though if you're gonna be picking
08:25 up the figure for yourself you're probably gonna be doing what I've been
08:27 doing just pressing the button back the satchel bag on the back of his body and
08:32 just whipping the arm back and forth and the neat thing about it too is sometimes
08:36 with a lot of these press button action features or ones that actually emit
08:39 sounds usually you have to press a button and then you have to wait you
08:43 have to wait for the audio clip to finish before you can press it again
08:45 with this one you get the benefit of actually just repeatedly pressing the
08:49 back of the bag and the whip will continue to move and make that whipping
08:52 action. Great fun figure and one that looks I think again a lot more like
08:56 Indiana Jones than the one we got from the Artifacts series. What do you guys
08:59 think though of whip action indie and whether you may be young or old, young
09:03 collector or new collector, would you guys see yourself picking this up and
