02:59Good evening Trinidad and Tobago, our international audience and of course our brothers and sisters in Grenada.
03:06This is Beyond the Tape and I'm your host Whitney Husbands.
03:09We're approaching the end of a work week and also approaching the long weekend that many persons are anticipating.
03:15But I believe if I'm not mistaken that this will be the last long weekend before we hit Christmas Day
03:22on the 25th of December.
03:25Now the countdown is on until Christmas, it's 50 days and now counting and of course I know persons are
03:30anticipating that as well.
03:31A lot to discuss today and the gentleman to guide us as always on a Thursday, Friday and not forgetting
03:37Tuesday we have newly promoted acting superintendent Russell.
03:46Miss Husbands, thank you for that.
03:47Does it feel different when you hear that? Like did you rank?
03:51Not really. I want it to feel different in the bank account. In the bank account because I want it
03:57to be the difference.
03:58But you know nonetheless I'm here. Good evening Miss Husbands. Good evening Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, our viewers of the
04:06island, Canada, the U.S. and all the other international viewers.
04:10I say good evening on behalf of my commissioners, police, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners and first and second division officers
04:16of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
04:19As usual it's a pleasure being here. You can see that I feel much, much better today.
04:24Look a bit better today.
04:25Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for the well wishes.
04:29And I don't get sick often but when I'm sick I'm very sick.
04:31Like most men.
04:32I don't stay sick for too long so I look forward to going to the gym after the program.
04:38You ignore what I just said?
04:39I am ignoring them. Maybe you're moving along.
04:42Well listen, it seems like you all need to do catch up because from what I saw and many persons
04:47saw there were some checks taking place in the city.
04:51So we're seeing that the police they are out checking, making sure persons, superintendent, you could guide us more on
04:58what's taking place here.
05:00Well this is just one of many road exercises that you would see coming up and we will intensify as
05:06we launch our different programs.
05:07We have the Resolute Shield and other operations going on.
05:12When we're coming up to this festive season of Christmas to Carnival, which they are one behind the other, back
05:19to back, short season,
05:21we are asking persons to really be compliant and to comply with all rules and regulations of the country.
05:28Road safety laws, have your vehicle inspected, have your vehicle checked, ensure your vehicle is road worthy because we will
05:35be out there.
05:36Obey the laws.
05:37We are seeing persons still being charged for DUI.
05:40I think we should have matured past that.
05:43We are supposed to be able to do DUI exercises and find no one to charge because the nice public,
05:50they are behaving responsibly.
05:52But we realize some persons, you know, continue to risk it and continue to take the chance.
05:58And the day you decide to take the chance could be the day that there's a roadblock or the day
06:02that you get yourself into an accident.
06:04Now, let me find out this, superintendent.
06:06With regards to what we're seeing here, the Special Operations Act that we saw is in effect.
06:11Is it operating as we speak?
06:13Well, it is not, it has been passed, it is in effect, yes, but it's not fully operational at this
06:20point in time because we are still training the officers.
06:23We, the TPS, give a mandate that we would train our officers with respect to certain disciplines before we have
06:30operationalized them.
06:32And we intend to keep that mandate going forward.
06:35Because the reason why I ask that is when I was in Tobago, I saw officers passing and they were
06:40randomly just stopping individuals and checking their bags and see what is on them on person.
06:47No, that is part of our functions.
06:49So that's not part of the...
06:50That's not part of that, no.
06:51Okay, so that could happen.
06:52But that could happen and will happen.
06:53But what I'm saying is that we want to keep persons on their toes.
06:57We want you to know if you're coming out there without firearm, your chances are that we will search you
07:01and we will get it.
07:02So leave it at home.
07:03And if you look at some of the headlines, you'll have seen three men held with firearm and schemas in
07:08cars.
07:08And it's by these same random and spot checks, road checks and spur-of-the-moment activities and exercises that
07:14we have where we see so many successes, where we hold persons with firearm.
07:19And three men in a car, schemas and firearm, of course, either they did something or they were on their
07:25way to do something.
07:26So we just saved somebody, a traumatic experience.
07:29Now, I know persons are asking about the mobile post.
07:32Where are we with that?
07:32What is happening there?
07:33It seems like it's torment.
07:35No, no, no.
07:35The mobile post are functioning.
07:37They had some issues that came to the association, but a lot of it has been rectified.
07:43And, you know, Grand Bazaar, for instance, has had quite a few successes with respect to the mobile police post.
07:49The persons were arrested, persons charged and stuff like that.
07:52And after that, the same presence of that mobile post, I say it's very, very operational.
07:56And, you know, we have seen some early successes with respect to it as well.
08:01Yeah.
08:02Yeah, yeah.
08:03I just know, I'll be honest.
08:04It just, I mean, the few times I pass by Terubo, I don't really see a police vehicle park up
08:10there.
08:10I see other vehicles that are parked inside there.
08:12Obviously, those may be officers, right?
08:14A lot of the times you may see, you may not see, and I am happy that you did not
08:18see the police vehicle park up there.
08:20It means that the officers, 98% of the times, would have been out on patrol.
08:26And this is what we want.
08:27They're patrolling within a particular radius so that where there's something that happened,
08:31if you look at where the mobile post has been placed, they are strategically placed where,
08:36with respect to some of the major archeries, because there was some intelligence,
08:40some work with MECU, some work with CAPA, some statistics that we looked at before we placed them.
08:44We didn't just decide to drop one so and drop one so,
08:47but we placed them where we could have an operational response.
08:50Should there be any element of crime or something or persons attempting to get away
08:55and they come in west on the church of Roosevelt or east on the church of Roosevelt,
08:59so we have somebody right by Grand Bazzardi or the decider head south.
09:03But what about the other locations then?
09:05Because that's why it's only two that we speak out.
09:08Right, so we continue to roll out.
09:10I know the one in Tobago had some issues.
09:12Was it sinking?
09:15As I say, I know the one in Tobago had some issues,
09:20so we would have that rectified.
09:22But we continue to roll out.
09:24There's a cost attached to this and we must find the necessary manpower to man these posts
09:31without taking anything away from the officers that are deployed at the station
09:37to service the communities and stuff like that.
09:38But we will see more popping up soon.
09:40Of course.
09:40Yeah?
09:41All right, so let's speak on something here that is very important for persons coming in the city,
09:46the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, that is in the Port of Spain area.
09:49And the wrecking is resuming on Monday, which is on the holiday itself.
09:55Well, and I say...
09:57Because people will be out looking to do things with their families.
09:59Because, you know, sometimes we, how to put it,
10:06we contribute to our own demise at times.
10:11From what I understood and what I was happy about,
10:13there was some level of conversation with Doma.
10:16Yes.
10:16You know, it's not that we are trying to stop business from in Port of Spain,
10:19but we want persons to be responsible and packed responsibly.
10:23You know, we are not, we prefer enforcement through education.
10:29Letting the persons know, you don't do this, don't do that, that happened.
10:33We want compliance from you.
10:35We don't want to have to wreck you.
10:37We don't want you to have to feel, to be in fear of being wrecked.
10:40And I say this to even to my colleagues who, and you know,
10:44police officers have to understand too that we, the laws of the land, are also for us.
10:50Yeah.
10:51So not because we could put a police emblem, sticker, or some patch with a P in your windscreen
10:59mean that we are also allowed to break the rules.
11:03I know that the way the police stations have been designed, the way things are,
11:09sometimes you have 10 persons on a shift.
11:11We know we don't have 10 parking spots on the compound.
11:13Yeah.
11:13We understand that.
11:15We know you are coming to work.
11:17But we are asking persons to park responsibly.
11:21Maybe we try to have some dialogue.
11:23We have the parking facility at opposite Riverside Plaza,
11:28but we know some persons have their concern.
11:30You could park there.
11:31By Brannara Promenade as well.
11:33No, by Riverside Plaza, the opposite.
11:34No, I'm saying there's a car park there.
11:36Right.
11:36But the one by Riverside Plaza, you don't have to pay.
11:39And a lot of officers, yeah, I know, but a lot of officers frequent that
11:45to go to work in Riverside Plaza.
11:47You'll see them walking across the bridge and stuff like that.
11:49Do you remember there were incidents?
11:50I would not go to the bridge, I'm not going to raise,
11:52but there were incidents that took place and it was literally
11:54Well, it would mean that we would have to put some more light in
11:58and probably have two, three officers there to ensure that the officers have a park.
12:03Because I understand my officers' plight as well.
12:05They are coming to work and, you know, things are already hard.
12:08As the city plays so hard to spend that money to find a park.
12:12And we understand, we know even if everybody reached early,
12:16they still wouldn't have a park for everybody.
12:17But now, you know, the media has highlighted some of our bad parking practices
12:23and I'm asking my colleagues out there,
12:25let us see how best we can adjust about behavior
12:28so the public doesn't look at us as the organization who tells you,
12:32don't park like that, but we are doing the same thing.
12:35Now, it's clear that there are some vehicles that need some parts
12:39because the parts are really hard to get for some of these vehicles.
12:42And this here is what I'm speaking of, an incident that took place in Coral,
12:46which is a stolen vehicle, and this is what they found.
12:50They ripped that car to shreds.
12:56Yeah, so, and the vessels, it's clear, superintendent, you can tell me if I'm wrong,
13:01but from what I heard, it's that the parts are really hard to get when it comes to,
13:06you know, if you get in an accident and it needs to be replaced,
13:09you'll have to wait months for the company to bring it in
13:12or for you to find a way to bring it in.
13:14So we're seeing what's happening now.
13:16Well, my husband, to be honest, those are new cars, and those are new fancy vehicles,
13:22so I drive a whole vehicle, so, you know, I cannot speak to the vessel owners.
13:28Some persons are so blessed that they could afford these new vehicles.
13:33Sir, sir, excuse me, sir, sir.
13:35You know, I'm saying, you know, use the GPS, the theft deterrent devices,
13:40and be careful where you park, and if you realize that your vehicle is a vehicle,
13:44that it may have a certain, how to put it, bond out there.
13:49It's hot.
13:50It's hot.
13:51I want the quality of the vessel.
13:52The results, the notes, we're seeing what's going on.
13:55They're ripping it to shreds.
13:57They're taking parts.
13:58So what are they taking is to decorate their home?
13:59They're taking it because somebody needs it.
14:01And that is another problem that I have myself done,
14:04because to the other person who had their vehicle involved in an accident, yeah?
14:09It's purchasing, yeah.
14:10And that is it, the garage, the used car dealer,
14:15that allowing these people to bring these fenders and these parts to your business places,
14:20and you're buying them, to the person who's doing the straightening and painting,
14:23and seeing these parts coming and asking a question,
14:27and seeing the parts that are coming without any receipt,
14:29the day the TTPS come by you and find one stolen fender, light, bumper, mirror,
14:37you will be charged for receiving stolen property.
14:46I think if you all really enforce it, they will believe it.
14:50My husband probably have enforced it on many, many occasions,
14:53but Trinidad and Tobago has a mentality that it would not happen to me.
14:59How many times have we told persons,
15:01when you're coming out, be alert, stop walking on the place with your cell phone,
15:05if you had to take a call, pull in a corner, take your call,
15:08and they're still walking on the road like that.
15:10Persons are still going in places to do deals.
15:13We will speak until we are blue.
15:15Now, we have to head to Artie that took place on Southern Main Road,
15:18and this is where we always stress, Superintendent, to please take your time,
15:23and this was on the Southern Main Road heading into Chagornos,
15:26and it was a serious accident.
15:29I'm hoping persons, or the person is okay.
15:33Yes, yes, and you could see somebody would have done something,
15:37because accidents don't just happen.
15:38There must have been somebody who wasn't paying attention,
15:41somebody was breaking, some law driver would do care of attention,
15:44somebody was speeding, somebody who may have been under the influence,
15:48and it slowed down their reaction time,
15:51or they fell asleep, and they doze off,
15:54and it's so important that we change our practices now,
15:58because Christmas, the carnival, is going to be...
16:01You're all outside, some...
16:03Rojects, wrecking,
16:05but we're outside.
16:06Ritalizer,
16:07and you see how nice...
16:08Money up, boy.
16:09And we have some new kits.
16:11Money outside.
16:11So we have some new fancy speed guns that we have operationalized,
16:15because we were asked about it in a briefing.
16:17What were the body cams?
16:19The body cams, on the way, that's in the process.
16:21We would use the ones that we have for now,
16:23so we continue to use the ones that we have for now.
16:25We have new ones being in the process.
16:29We have new speed guns that we were able to operationalize,
16:32and we also have some new fertilizer.
16:36And other gadgets that you can't mention.
16:38All right, ladies and gentlemen,
16:39it's time for us to take a look at what's making today's head-off.
17:26And those are your stories making today's headlines.
17:28Remember, you can give us a call at 623-1711,
17:31extension 1996 or 1997.
17:34We'll be back.
17:38Over 40 years in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
17:43has taught me one important lesson.
17:48Evidence matters.
17:51In policing, we rely on evidence to establish the facts
17:56and make informed decisions.
17:59Therefore, improving policing should be no different.
18:04That's why your participation in the TTPS Public Satisfaction Survey
18:09is so important.
18:12Your honest feedback provides the evidence needed
18:16to understand what's working, what isn't,
18:19and where improvements are necessary.
18:22Don't leave it to someone else to tell your story.
18:25Your experience is evidence.
18:28Your perspective matters.

21:50And we are back.
21:51We have our superintendent, Russell,
21:53here with us as we continue
21:55with regards to road safety and the progress.
21:57Where are we with that?
21:58Oh, and you know,
21:59I am happy that you asked.
22:00I am pleased to announce that we,
22:03with the public's compliance,
22:05of course,
22:06you must thank the public for listening to us
22:08for the period 2025 to 2026 comparison.
22:11For the same period here,
22:12we have 22% fewer fatal road accidents.
22:16So there were 91 in 2025.
22:19We have 71 in 2026 for the same period.
22:2227% fewer road deaths.
22:25We had 102 in 2025.
22:28We are at 74 in 2026.
22:32And on our highways,
22:34we have 46% fewer accidents
22:36from 41 in 2025 to 22 in 2026.
22:41And 51% fewer deaths
22:43from 49 in 2025 to 24 in 2026.
22:49And you would have seen a significant reduction.
22:51And I thank the public
22:52for adhering to all our advice,
22:55all our tips,
22:55and most importantly,
22:57to the laws of the land.
22:58Yes, and I hope we can see it get lower there.
23:01That is it.
23:01Because we want to protect the lives
23:03of every single person
23:04that is on the nation's roadways
23:06and also the pedestrians as well.
23:08Of course.
23:08We have to be mindful of that
23:10because many times we will see persons crossing the road
23:13like in your bedroom.
23:15And, no, it's true.
23:16And when the person is blowing the gun,
23:18you can't just cross it
23:19because, yes, you're able to cross.
23:20But you have to cross in a manner
23:22that, you know, you can get across safely
23:25and never know what could take place.
23:26And other persons are not taking into consideration
23:27situational awareness,
23:29you know, knowing what is going on around you,
23:30what is taking place
23:31and how to react to other persons,
23:33especially people crossing in front of maxi taxis
23:36and stuff like that.
23:37Remember, if you are traveling
23:38in the same direction as a maxi taxi,
23:40you would only see that person
23:42when they appear in front of your vehicle
23:44at that point in time
23:45is because it's too late.
23:47So persons need to either let the maxi
23:49stop the vehicle coming
23:51and then cross
23:51or wait until the maxi drive off
23:53so you can see the roadway clearly
23:54and make that decision to cross safely.
23:57Now, speaking of road safety,
23:58let's see more from the man
23:59we all know as Sergeant Brent Batson.
24:03We continue to be encouraged
24:04by this downward trend
24:06in road traffic deaths in Trinidad and Tobago.
24:09As everybody aware,
24:11it's a multi-pronged approach
24:13that we've taken through enforcement,
24:15through education,
24:16you know, partnering with also
24:18the other responsible ministries
24:19such as Ministry of Transport
24:21and Civil Aviation
24:24and, of course,
24:25the Ministry of Works Infrastructure.
24:28So we've seen success
24:30in these interventions
24:31and we hope that the public
24:33continues to support our efforts,
24:36not just from the policing standpoint,
24:38but just doing the right thing
24:39and obeying the regulations
24:40that are critical for saving lives
24:42and keeping families together.
24:45What is interesting
24:46is that this comes off,
24:49this press briefing actually comes
24:52after road traffic fatality yesterday
24:56that really was graphic,
24:59social media,
25:02circulated a body of one of the victims
25:05and we want to extend our condolences
25:09to the families of that victim,
25:12their loved ones,
25:13but we also want to let the public
25:17be reminded that this is the consequence
25:18of unsafe road use
25:20and when we're out there enforcing,
25:22when we're out there doing our job
25:24is to prevent these tragedies.
25:26We're going into the last two months
25:28of 2026
25:31and we hope there will be no more loss of life
25:34on the roads.
25:36whether it's persons
25:37obeying speed limits,
25:39making sure they have a sober driver,
25:42wearing their seatbelts,
25:44or just making sure their vehicles are roadworthy.
25:47It goes a long way to make sure everybody has a safe journey.
25:52The carnival in Tobago,
25:54I want to commend all revelers
25:58who were across there enjoying it,
26:00the Tobago unions,
26:02as well as the TTPS
26:03for ensuring a very safe carnival occurred.
26:08As you know,
26:09the commission deployed a special traffic team
26:11from Highway Patrol
26:12and they did human efforts
26:15in regards to enforcement across there.
26:17Persons were arrested
26:18for DUI multiple offenses,
26:20including driving,
26:23persons who didn't have driver's permits
26:24and just decided to drive on the road for Carnival,
26:27not realizing we were going to be there doing our job.
26:31And before the court right now.
26:34So I say this,
26:37against the backdrop of
26:39we will continue to do our job
26:41as public safety officers and enforcers
26:44and we continue to ask the public for support.
26:47We have,
26:48we're hoping to,
26:49I do want to mention,
26:50we are hoping to get some new breathalyzer equipment
26:53that will enhance our enforcement capabilities.
26:55I'm hoping to get it before the end of the year
26:57if all goes well.
26:58But this is going to be a big difference
27:01in our capabilities for DUI detection
27:04and prosecution.
27:06We continue to utilize technology,
27:09whether it's the ticketing devices
27:10and our speed detection devices
27:12to do our jobs.
27:14And I want to thank the members of the public
27:16because that reduction
27:18is not just through enforcement,
27:21that is through compliance.
27:22When the compliance occurs through deterrence
27:25from our presence and our enforcement efforts,
27:28it translates into lives saved.
27:31And that's our ultimate goal.
27:33I'm Brent Batson, of course,
27:34and no license, boy.
27:37You just decided to drive.
27:39You just decided to drive.
27:40So let me just say something.
27:42The tireless efforts of our officers
27:43on the nation's roads
27:44are making a difference
27:46and helping to save lives.
27:47And we thank the officers.
27:49While our ultimate target
27:51remains zero road fatalities,
27:53this reduction represents
27:54a significant achievement
27:55and a testament
27:57to the dedication
27:58and the commitment
27:59of our officers.
28:00Well done, team.
28:01We thank you.
28:02And well done to the public
28:04who continue
28:04to obey
28:06the laws of the land.
28:08All right.

31:51This is more than just news.
31:53It's accountability.
31:54The undisputed number one program
31:55in Trinidad and Tobago
31:57delivering the hard-hitting investigations
31:58you rely on.
32:00The TV6 News.
32:01Revealing facts.
32:03Provoking opinions.
32:19And we are back.
32:20Remember,
32:20you can give us a call
32:21at 623-1711,
32:23extension 1996 or 1997.
32:26Now, superintendent,
32:27there was a video circulating
32:29on social media.
32:30It was very disturbing.
32:31And persons in the comments
32:33were saying it was an alleged abduction.
32:35But persons still,
32:37they are not certain.
32:38And this was really sad to witness.
32:42And one thing you were hearing,
32:45you know,
32:46the way in which persons,
32:49when you hear them speak on this video,
32:50why persons didn't intervene.
32:52Why somebody didn't try to step in.
32:55But persons are fearful.
32:57Yeah, I was hoping somebody
32:59called the police.
33:01Well, I mean,
33:02you all see any license plate there now.
33:04Yes, definitely.
33:05Yeah, so you all could use that
33:07to try and find out
33:08who this individual is.
33:10I don't know what area this
33:11this is, I hope,
33:12I don't know if the other person
33:13made a report.
33:15Yeah.
33:16But even if they don't,
33:17though, superintendent,
33:18we are seeing this.
33:19But no, but we could,
33:19okay, we could,
33:20we could definitely act based on this.
33:22This is enough for us
33:23to launch an investigation.
33:25However,
33:25if we could get some more information
33:26as to the area,
33:28I mean,
33:28the video is clear.
33:29we could do what we have to do.
33:31We could investigate
33:31what we are being paid to do
33:34and get the registered,
33:36the name of the registered owner
33:38as long as license in office
33:40and we could really
33:42chat along with this person.
33:43Well, I really hope you are.
33:44that, you know,
33:44we could find out
33:45whichever it is
33:46and that person's
33:47at least call the police.
33:48I don't know
33:48if anybody looking at the program
33:50have an update for us.
33:51They can contact me,
33:53any one of my colleagues
33:54and I would gladly share it on here.
33:56Yeah, we'd love to get an update
33:57with that.
33:57We have a call on.
33:58Caller, good evening.
34:01Hello.
34:02Hi.
34:03Hi.
34:05Good evening, caller.
34:09Thank you, caller.
34:10Same to you.
34:12Question to you.
34:13Is there a couple of hearing
34:14a couple of times
34:15to for a charge
34:17to be related
34:18on a post?
34:19You know,
34:19I don't have a
34:20fraudulent insurance document
34:22at the street with the police.
34:24I didn't hear what you said properly.
34:26I think he's asking.
34:27Could you turn off your volume
34:29on your set
34:31because you're getting
34:31some feedback a little bit, right?
34:33I think he's asking.
34:33What is that with the insurance?
34:35Something with insurance?
34:36If there's a cutoff
34:36for somebody
34:38who has a fraudulent insurance,
34:43he provided a fraudulent document
34:47to the police.
34:49Is there a charge
34:50and how long would that be
34:52if there's a cutoff time?
34:54Yes.
34:54Yes, there is a charge
34:56for that
34:56and
34:58well,
34:58with the Summary Offenses Act
34:59it is six months
35:01or if this is
35:02a fraud offense
35:03it could lead
35:04to bigger things.
35:05I'll advise you
35:05to report it
35:06or it could take it
35:07to the fraud squad
35:08where they can continue
35:10investigations into it.
35:13Yeah.
35:13Because it could lead
35:14to something bigger
35:14because he may have obtained
35:16that fraudulent document
35:17from an establishment.
35:19Correct.
35:19So it could lead
35:20to bigger things.
35:21All right.
35:21We have another caller.
35:22Caller, good evening.
35:24Hi, good evening.
35:25Good evening.
35:26Good evening, caller.
35:28This is just a comment
35:29for the officer.
35:30Congratulations
35:31on what you all accomplished
35:33with the road accident.
35:35Thank you, sir.
35:37However,
35:39having police officers
35:41deliver lunch
35:42to persons
35:44in Coop's Car Wash
35:46in Aruka
35:48in police vehicles
35:49with lights running
35:50doesn't overwell
35:52what the image
35:55that you all want
35:56to create
35:57at this time.
35:59Is TTPs food drop?
36:01Well, I don't know.
36:02I was trying to figure out
36:04how to get
36:04from the on your list.
36:06Wow.
36:06They'll drop meals
36:07for me.
36:07He'll be hot and ready.
36:10All right.
36:11So just a word,
36:12you know,
36:12because people
36:13were commenting
36:14and the officer
36:15came in like
36:16and he was delivering
36:18lunch
36:19to one of the
36:20parish workers.
36:24All right.
36:25It doesn't know
36:26how well
36:26the image
36:26they're trying to create.
36:28That's it.
36:28That's just it.
36:29Thank you, sir.
36:31Superintendent.
36:33To protect
36:34and serve
36:35with pride,
36:35I guess
36:36the officer
36:37saw it fit
36:38to do some
36:38additional service.
36:40But I am saying
36:40to my officers,
36:41though,
36:43I know situations
36:44happen now.
36:45Sometimes we may
36:46have to drop off
36:47something to the
36:48child in school.
36:49Yes.
36:49You know.
36:50But really,
36:51lights and siren
36:52to deliver lunch
36:54to your friend.
36:56Maybe to impress
36:57somebody.
36:58You don't know.
36:59Lights and siren.
36:59I haven't luck.
37:00Miss Husbands,
37:01we have a siren.
37:02You know,
37:03Trinidad,
37:03we're going to
37:03we have a siren policy
37:04in TTPS.
37:06Really?
37:06Yes.
37:07Where the command center
37:09will give you
37:09the instructions
37:10as to how
37:11and when to use
37:12the siren,
37:12whether intermittently,
37:14whether continuously,
37:15based on the response.
37:17We have a siren policy.
37:19So what,
37:20if that officer
37:22is reported,
37:23he would have
37:23committed a
37:24disciplinary breach.
37:27A disciplinary breach.
37:29There's a siren policy.
37:31What was the image?
37:33They were hungry
37:33to pass out.
37:34They feel weak
37:35and hungry.
37:35And it's like,
37:36you know,
37:39the more I try
37:39to advocate
37:40for police officers,
37:41sometimes they do
37:42some stuff
37:43that I don't know.
37:44You don't know
37:44how to defend it,
37:46right?
37:47They're human beings.
37:48I guess.
37:49And to earn
37:50it's human.
37:51Yeah.
37:51But to my officers
37:52listening,
37:53please,
37:55thanks.
37:55I know what to do
37:56next time
37:56when I'm hungry.
37:59call for you.
38:00I've called
38:01Superintendent Russell.
38:03Call for you.
38:05All right.
38:05We have to take
38:06a short break
38:06and when we come back,
38:07we'll continue with more.
38:08Four important numbers
38:11and facts
38:12you should know
38:13about the TTPS's
38:14Public Satisfaction Survey.
38:16100.
38:18Because the survey
38:19is 100% anonymous.
38:21No,
38:22we are not coming
38:23after you.
38:2516.
38:26Because you must be
38:2816 years and over
38:30to participate
38:31in the survey.
38:33Five.
38:34Because the survey
38:35can be completed
38:36in just five short minutes.
38:40Two.
38:41Because the survey
38:42closes November 2nd.
38:45You can't improve
38:46what you don't measure.
38:48Five minutes of your time
38:50helps build
38:51the police service
38:52you want to see.
38:53Take the survey,
38:55share your perspective,
38:56and help us

42:18Sorry, my apologies.
42:19Caller, good evening.
42:21Good evening.
42:22Good evening, caller.
42:24Yes, good evening, sir.
42:28Good evening, sir.
42:31I'm sure most of them
42:33were at home.
42:34So I just mentioned
42:37Crossroads
42:40a while ago.
42:43And I was
42:45can now
42:46about $50,000
42:47from the bank.
42:49And the bank
42:50settlement of Crossroads
42:52since on the 6th month.
42:55Since in June.
43:10leave and I'm gonna call out I would I would contact you most likely tomorrow God's willing
43:18that's I said a bank maybe someone with your money yeah something would be something after but the
43:26money is insured once it is placed in the bank and they do their well an investigation he must take
43:30place first for we to see well you know for this for this see who is responsible for the situation
43:37and then we go the bank would make their decisions from there and what happened is but fraud matters
43:43are very very long long and and and really it eats some time because there's a lot of statements
43:50together there's a lot of things they get with a fraud offense a photo fence is really really
43:54something that's long and you have to have some patience for what concerns me that he said no one
44:00was assigned so once he leaves this number I could probably make I'll have a conversation with him
44:05I'll make a call to see if we could have somebody assigned or if it's that somebody was indeed
44:10a sign however they haven't contacted him as yet yeah understood we have another call caller good
44:15evening good evening good evening sir good evening to you yes sir thank you good no let's get to see
44:40the police the police knew a few days a few weeks a few months ago that you were supposed to
44:48be promoted
44:49because you were acting all the time I was very looking forward to seeing press on your last effort then
44:58after that
45:00we had to hear what part of what it was going to be going to be doing and it seems
45:04to tell me why it has done this way
45:08I will just move
45:09all right thank you caller well um anything about it caller we had an assessment in 2023 um and nearing
45:19the assessment um the matter was the process became subject of a court matter the court ruled the police service
45:30appealed we lost the matter we lost the matter so we now have to do over the assessment that is
45:37crazy
45:37um but in the meantime the job must go on so actually my substantive rank is indeed inspector I am
45:44now double
45:45acting so I am not just acting ASP I am double acting to the rank of acting superintendent because of
45:52the shortages within the police service
45:54and the vacancies so I mean we as TTPS officers we deal with irregular problems we have our own issues
46:02but we cannot allow our internal issues to affect our service to you the members of the public I mean
46:10there are times I have been discouraged I believe I should have been there already but I have a response
46:15to you I have a
46:15responsibility to help make Renan Tobago safer and promotion comes from God so when that time is ready he would
46:22do what he has to do but my job is to come here and make sure I serve you and
46:26I do the work that I have to do and I would not reliant and I would not turn back
46:31whether they promote me whether I'm not promoted I am here for this purpose and I will continue to try
46:36So then we have another call Caller good evening Hello?
46:43Hello good evening Solomon Yes
46:45Good evening evening to you sir Good evening caller Good evening
46:49I have three questions related to the one topic
46:54Um Yesircka so why do we have to wait six to eight weeks?
46:58For Sports the creative character as one two
47:01One, is there the option to expedite it like the passport if it's object extra and you get it done
47:08faster and three, you know the job market is competitive now and applying for it is more or less job
47:16related.
47:18For those of us who may have to fill out the vacancy of the island, right where it is needed
47:24right away, could we bring that forward with the application to aid and hope to get it done quickly? I
47:31will listen to all of you. Thank you.
47:34That is a very, very, very good question. The whole six to eight weeks, it depends, is like this. Yes,
47:44the officers have to process it and everything, but what happened is that if you go, for instance, there's one
47:51particular station in each division that would have the CFC records department, yeah, that would do all the processing of
47:58the fingerprints, the station, you may go to, let's say you go to St. James Station.
48:03And you do the CFC there. They may have carried, let's say, a hundred the day before. They would not
48:09carry your CFC one by one unless there's a necessity that you need it urgently. You must state that, yeah?
48:17There's no expedite. There's no fee to pay to expedite it quickly. Please do not pay anybody any fee. The
48:24police have not told you to take any fee for expediting anything quickly. Do not pay anybody for that, please
48:29and thank you.
48:30But what happens is we really wait for it to pile up. So we carry 50 or 60 or 80
48:35at a time. So it's not that it can't be processed faster, but because we carry it in a stack.
48:41So let me say we took it the day before and yours is number one on the new day. We
48:46wait in for 49, sometimes 50 more.
48:49So is it that you wait for that number to pile or you say in two days, whatever you mean,
48:54on this day is what we deliver?
48:56No, it's wait for it to pile up a bit. Because it is not efficient to carry one, one, one,
49:02one, one, one, one, because you have to take the vehicle, carry one, take the vehicle, run one, carry one.
49:07It is not efficient use of the vehicle. But however, if you come and you state, officer, here is the
49:11position. This is what is going on.
49:13What I encourage persons to do, find out which station it is in the division, there is an electric date
49:19that is responsible or that has the department to process it.
49:24If you do it there, you tend to get it a little faster because it's just a walk downstairs.
49:30Well, I mean, that waiting is kind of weird.
49:33But do not pay.
49:34Yeah.
49:34Yeah.
49:34But indicate a officer needed quickly what to do. What is the station? I will go to get it done
49:39the fastest.
49:40They're going to use the driver who was delivering the launch. It will just switch faster. We have a call.
49:45Sorry. Hello.
49:46So is one of your jokes.
49:47Hello.
49:49Yes.
49:50Yes.
49:51Good day.
49:52Good day.
49:53Good day.
50:08Okay.
50:10oh okay
50:27thank you for the heads up caller um jackie yeah we will i'm sure she heard what he said
50:33and we will try to rectify that yeah yeah yeah all right i just want to
50:38touch on something here quickly um because we have a few minutes before we wrap things up
50:42as we mentioned when we open the show that wrecking will resume from monday
50:46coming here and i just wanted to give the information let me just try let me try let
50:49me try of course monday to friday 9 a.m to 3 p.m correct and friday saturday and sunday

51:03police academy
51:03now um during the week and on the weekends to the woodbrook station that is correct and no links
51:11no links cash only cash only but what happened is i want to have a conversation with the commissioner
51:16because i know a lot of persons it's more convenient let's say you get wrecked 11 p.m
51:2012 a.m 1 a.m you don't have to go to that atm place yourself at further risk so
51:26i am going to see
51:27if the commissioner could look into that to see if i could help the public we should not park in
51:33our
51:33way to get wrecked in the first place yeah we're just saying but at least we have that information
51:38so you wouldn't be ignorant to the facts that are given we have less than 30 seconds
51:42superintendent a few words well i want to tell the public i'm this with the media ambassador
