00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 89
04:59I will sing continually about the Lord's faithful deeds.
05:04To future generations I will proclaim your faithfulness.
05:07For I say, loyal love is permanently established.
05:12In the skies you set up your faithfulness.
05:16The Lord said, I have made a covenant with my chosen one.
05:20I have made a promise on oath to David my servant.
05:25I will give you an eternal dynasty, and establish your throne throughout future generations.
05:33O Lord, the heavens praise your amazing deeds, as well as your faithfulness in the angelic assembly.
05:42For who in the skies can compare to the Lord?
05:45Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?
05:49A God who is honoured in the great angelic assembly, and more awesome than all who surround him.
05:58O Lord God of heaven's armies, who is strong like you, O Lord?
06:03Your faithfulness surrounds you.
06:06You rule over the proud sea.
06:08When its waves surge, you calm them.
06:12You crushed the proud one and killed it.
06:15With your strong arm you scattered your enemies.
06:19The heavens belong to you as to the earth.
06:23You made the world and all that it contains.
06:28You created the north and the south, Tabor and Hermon, or rejoice in your name.
06:36Your arm is powerful, your hand strong, your right hand victorious.
06:43Equity and justice are the foundation of your throne.
06:48Loyal love and faithfulness characterise your rule.
06:52How blessed are the people who worship you, O Lord, they experience your favour.
07:00They rejoice in your name all day long, and are vindicated by your justice.
07:08For you give them splendour and strength.
07:11By your favour we are victorious.
07:15For our shield belongs to the Lord, our King to the Holy One of Israel.
07:23Then you spoke through a vision to your faithful followers, and said,
07:27I have placed a young hero over a warrior.
07:30I have raised up a young man from the people.
07:33I have discovered David, my servant.
07:36With my holy oil I have anointed him as King.
07:41My hand will support him, and my arm will strengthen him.
07:47No enemy will be able to extract tribute from him.
07:53A violent oppressor will not be able to humiliate him.
07:58I will crush his enemies before him.
08:01I will strike down those who hate him.
08:06He will experience my faithfulness and loyal love.
08:10And by my name he will win victories.
08:14I will place his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers.
08:20He will call out to me,
08:22You are my Father, my God, and the Protector who delivers me.
08:26I will appoint him to be my firstborn son,
08:30the most exalted of the earth's kings.
08:34I will always extend my loyal love to him,
08:38and my covenant with him is secure.
08:42I will give him an eternal dynasty,
08:45and make his throne as enduring as the skies above.
08:51If his sons reject my law and disobey my regulations,
08:56if they break my rules and do not keep my commandments,
09:00I will punish their rebellion by beating them with a club,
09:04their sin by inflicting them with bruises.
09:09But I will not remove my loyal love from him,
09:12nor be unfaithful to my promise.
09:15I will not break my covenant or go back on what I promised.
09:19Once and for all I have vowed by my own holiness,
09:24I will never deceive David.
09:27His dynasty will last forever.
09:30His throne will endure before me like the sun.
09:33It will remain stable like the moon.
09:36His throne will endure like the skies.
09:41But you have spurned and rejected him.
09:44You are angry with your chosen king.
09:47You have repudiated your covenant with your servant.
09:51You have thrown his crown to the ground.
09:54You have broken down his walls.
09:56You have made his strongholds a heap of ruins.
10:00All who pass by, rob him.
10:03He has become an object of disdain to his neighbours.
10:08For you have allowed his adversaries to be victorious
10:11and all his enemies to rejoice.
10:14You turn back his sword from the enemy
10:17and have not sustained him in battle.
10:20You have brought an end to his splendour
10:22and have knocked his throne to the ground.
10:25You have cut short his youth
10:28and have covered him with shame.
10:31How long, O Lord, will this last?
10:33Will you remain hidden forever?
10:35Will your anger continue to burn like fire?
10:39Take note of my brief lifespan.
10:42Why do you make all people so mortal?
10:46No man can live on without experiencing death
10:49or deliver his life from the power of shale.
10:54Where are your earlier faithful deeds, O Lord,
10:58the ones performed in accordance
10:59with your reliable oath to David?
11:03Take note, O Lord,
11:05of the way your servants are taunted
11:07and of how I must bear so many insults from people.
11:12Your enemies, O Lord, hurl insults.
11:15They insult your chosen king
11:17as they dog his footsteps.
11:20The Lord deserves praise forevermore.
11:24We agree.
11:25We agree.
11:28Glory be to the Father
11:30and to the Son
11:31and to the Holy Spirit
11:32as it was in the beginning,
11:34is now and ever shall be,
11:37world without end.
11:39Amen.
11:45The prophet Zechariah chapters 1 and 2
11:52I lifted up my eyes and I saw
11:54and behold, four horns.
11:58I asked the angel who talked with me,
12:01What are these?
12:03He answered me,
12:04These are the horns
12:05which have scattered Judah,
12:07Israel and Jerusalem.
12:11Yahweh shed me four craftsmen.
12:14I asked,
12:15What are these coming to do?
12:17He said,
12:18These are the horns
12:19which scattered Judah,
12:20so that no man lifted up his head.
12:23But now they have come
12:24to terrify them,
12:25to cast down the horns
12:27of the nations
12:28which lifted up their horn
12:30against the land of Judah
12:31to scatter it.
12:34I lifted up my eyes
12:36and saw, behold,
12:37a man with a measuring line
12:39in his hand.
12:40I asked,
12:42Where are you going?
12:44He said to me,
12:45To measure Jerusalem,
12:47to see what is its width
12:49and what is its length.
12:53Behold,
12:53the angel who walked with me went
12:55and another angel went out
12:58to meet him
12:58and said to him,
13:00Run,
13:01speak to this young man,
13:03saying,
13:04Jerusalem will be inhabited
13:05as villages without walls
13:07because of the multitude of men
13:09and livestock in it.
13:12For I,
13:12says Yahweh,
13:13will be to her
13:14a wall of fire around it
13:16and I will be the glory
13:18in the middle of her.
13:20Come, come,
13:22flee from the land of the north,
13:23says Yahweh,
13:24for I have spread you abroad
13:26as the four winds of the sky,
13:28said Yahweh.
13:29Come,
13:30Zion,
13:31escape you who dwell
13:33with the daughter of Babylon.
13:35For Yahweh of armies says,
13:37For honour,
13:38he has sent me
13:39to the nations
13:40which plundered you.
13:42For he who touches you
13:44touches the apple
13:44of his eye.
13:46For behold,
13:47I will shake my hand over them
13:49and they will be a plunder
13:51to those who serve them.
13:53And you will know
13:54that Yahweh of armies
13:55has sent me.
13:57Sing and rejoice,
13:59daughter of Zion.
14:00For behold,
14:01I come and I will dwell
14:03within you,
14:04said Yahweh.
14:06Many nations
14:07shall join themselves
14:08to Yahweh in that day
14:10and shall be my people
14:12and I will dwell
14:13among you
14:14and you shall know
14:16that Yahweh of armies
14:18has sent me to you.
14:21The Lord will inherit Judah
14:23as his portion
14:24in the holy land
14:25and will again
14:26choose Jerusalem.
14:29Be silent,
14:30all flesh,
14:31before Yahweh,
14:33for he has raised himself
14:34from his holy habitation.
14:38This is the word
14:40of the Lord.
14:42Thanks be to God.
14:53Mary said,
14:55My soul exalts the Lord
14:57and my spirit
14:58has begun to rejoice
15:00in God my Saviour
15:02because he has looked
15:03upon the humble state
15:05of his servant.
15:07For from now on
15:09all generations
15:10will call me blessed
15:11because he who is mighty
15:13has done great things
15:15for me
15:15and holy is his name.
15:18From generation
15:20to generation
15:21he is merciful
15:22to those who fear him.
15:25He has demonstrated
15:26power with his arm.
15:28He has scattered
15:29those whose pride
15:30wells up
15:31from the sheer arrogance
15:32of their hearts.
15:34He has brought down
15:36the mighty
15:36from their thrones
15:37and has lifted up
15:39those of lowly position.
15:41He has filled
15:42the hungry
15:43with good things
15:44and has sent
15:45the rich away empty.
15:47He has helped
15:48his servant Israel
15:50remembering his mercy
15:52as he promised
15:53to our ancestors
15:54to Abraham
15:56and to his descendants
15:58for ever.
16:00Glory be to the Father
16:02and to the Son
16:03and to the Holy Spirit
16:04as it was in the beginning
16:06is now
16:08and ever shall be
16:09world without end.
16:11Amen.
16:17The Gospel according
16:18to Saint Luke
16:19chapter 13
16:22Now some people
16:24who were there
16:24at that time
16:25gave him an account
16:26of how the blood
16:27of some Galileans
16:28had been mixed
16:29by Pilate
16:30with their offerings.
16:32Jesus in answer
16:34said to them
16:34Are you of the opinion
16:36that these Galileans
16:38were worse
16:38than all other
16:39Galileans
16:40because these things
16:42were done to them?
16:44I say to you
16:45it is not so
16:47but if your hearts
16:48are not changed
16:49you will all come
16:49to the same end.
16:52Or those 18 men
16:53who were crushed
16:54by the fall of the tower
16:55in Siloam
16:56were they worse
16:57than all the other men
16:58living in Jerusalem?
17:02I say to you
17:03it is not so
17:04but if your hearts
17:06are not changed
17:06you will all come
17:08to end
17:09in the same way.
17:12and he told them
17:13a story
17:13a certain man
17:15had a fig tree
17:16in his garden
17:16and he came
17:18to get fruit
17:18from it
17:19but there was
17:20no fruit.
17:21He said to the gardener
17:23Look
17:23for three years
17:25I have been
17:26hoping for fruit
17:27from this tree
17:28and I have not
17:29had any.
17:32Let it be cut down
17:33for why is it
17:35taking up space
17:36in the garden?
17:38The gardener said
17:40Lord
17:41let it be
17:42just for this year
17:43and I will have
17:44the earth
17:45turned up
17:45around it
17:46and put animal
17:47waste on it
17:48to make it fertile.
17:50If after that
17:51it has fruit
17:52so be it.
17:54If not
17:55let it be cut down.
18:00Jesus was teaching
18:02in one of the
18:03synagogues
18:03on the Sabbath day
18:05there was a woman
18:07who had a spirit
18:08of infirmity
18:09for 18 years
18:10and she was bent over
18:11unable in any way
18:13to straighten herself up.
18:17When Jesus saw her
18:18he called to her
18:19and said
18:20Woman
18:21you are freed
18:22from your infirmity
18:24and laying his hands
18:25on her
18:26immediately
18:27she was able
18:28to stand up straight
18:29and gave glory
18:30to God.
18:33The ruler
18:34of the synagogue
18:35being indignant
18:36because Jesus
18:37had healed
18:38on the Sabbath
18:39said to the people
18:41There are six days
18:43in which men
18:44ought to work
18:46therefore come
18:47on those days
18:47and be healed
18:48and not
18:49on the Sabbath day.
18:53The Lord answered him
18:54You hypocrite
18:57doesn't each one
18:58of you free
18:59his ox
19:00or his donkey
19:01from the stall
19:02on the Sabbath
19:03and lead him
19:04away to water?
19:07Ought not this woman
19:08being a daughter
19:09of Abraham
19:09like you
19:10whom Satan
19:11has bound
19:1218 years long
19:14be freed
19:15from this bondage
19:17on the Sabbath day?
19:20And as he said
19:22this thing
19:22all his adversaries
19:24were disappointed
19:25but the multitude
19:26rejoiced
19:27for the glorious things
19:28that were being done
19:30by him.
19:32This is the word
19:34of the Lord
19:35Thanks be to God
19:45Now according to your word
19:48Sovereign Lord
19:48permit your servant
19:50to depart in peace
19:52for my eyes
19:54have seen
19:54your salvation
19:55that you have prepared
19:57in the presence
19:58of all peoples
19:59a light
20:01for revelation
20:02to the Gentiles
20:03and for glory
