00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 106
05:00Praise the Lord.
05:02Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, and his loyal love endures.
05:07Who can adequately recount the Lord's mighty acts, or relate all his praiseworthy deeds?
05:15How blessed are those who promote justice, and do what is right, all the time.
05:21Remember me, O Lord, when you show favour to your people.
05:25Pay attention to me when you deliver, so that I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones.
05:32Rejoice along with your nation, and boast along with the people who belong to you.
05:38We have sinned like our ancestors.
05:40We have done wrong.
05:42We have done evil.
05:44Our ancestors in Egypt failed to appreciate your miraculous deeds.
05:49They failed to remember your many acts of loyal love.
05:53And they rebelled at the sea, by the Red Sea.
05:57Yet, he delivered them for the sake of his reputation, that he might reveal his power.
06:04He shouted at the Red Sea, and dried up.
06:07He led them through the deep water, as if it were a desert.
06:11He delivered them from the power of the one who hated them.
06:16Rescued them from the power of the enemy.
06:20The water covered their enemies.
06:22Not even one of them survived.
06:25They believed his promises.
06:28They sang praises to him.
06:30They quickly forgot what he had done.
06:33They did not wait for his instructions.
06:37In the wilderness, they had an insatiable craving for meat.
06:41They challenged God in the wastelands.
06:45He granted their request, then struck them with a disease.
06:51In the camp, they resented Moses and Aaron, the Lord's holy priest.
06:57The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan.
07:01It engulfed the group led by Abiram.
07:05Fire burned their group.
07:07The flames scorched the wicked.
07:10They made an image of a calf at Horeb and worshipped a metal idol.
07:15They traded their majestic God for the image of an ox that eats grass.
07:21They rejected the God who delivered them.
07:24The one who performed great deeds in Egypt.
07:27Amazing feats in the land of Ham.
07:30Mighty acts by the Red Sea.
07:34He threatened to destroy them.
07:36But Moses, his chosen one, interceded with him and turned back his destructive anger.
07:44They rejected the fruitful land.
07:47They did not believe his promise.
07:49They grumbled in their tents.
07:52They did not obey the Lord.
07:54So he made a solemn vow that he would make them die in the wilderness.
07:59Make their descendants die among the nations and scattered them amongst foreign lands.
08:05They worshipped Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to the dead.
08:11They made the Lord angry by their actions and a plague broke out among them.
08:19Phinehas took a stand and intervened and the plague subsided.
08:24This was credited to him as a righteous act for all generations to come.
08:31They made him angry by the waters of Meribah and Moses suffered because of them.
08:37For they aroused his temple and he spoke rashly.
08:42They did not destroy the nations as the Lord had commanded them to do.
08:47They mixed in with the nations and learnt their ways.
08:51They worshipped their idols which became a snare to them.
08:55They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.
08:59They shed innocent blood.
09:01The blood of their sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan.
09:06The land was polluted by bloodshed.
09:11They were defiled by their deeds and unfaithful in their actions.
09:17So the Lord was angry with his people and despised the people who belonged to him.
09:23He handed them over to the nations and those who hated them ruled over them.
09:29Their enemies oppressed them.
09:31They were subject to their authority.
09:34Many times he delivered them, but they had a rebellious attitude and degraded themselves by their sin.
09:42Yet he took notice of their distress when he heard their cry for help.
09:48He remembered his covenant with them and relented because of his great loyal love.
09:55He caused all their conquerors to have pity on them.
10:23Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
10:28as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.
10:34Amen.
10:41The Prophet Zechariah chapter 8
10:46Then the word of the Lord, who rules over all, came to me as follows.
10:51The Lord who rules over all says,
10:53I am very much concerned for Zion.
10:57Indeed, I am so concerned for her that my rage will fall on those who hurt her.
11:03I have returned to Zion and I will live within Jerusalem.
11:07Now, Jerusalem will be called a truthful city, mountain of the Lord who rules over all, holy mountain.
11:16Moreover, the Lord who rules over all says,
11:19Old men and women will once more live in the plazas of Jerusalem,
11:25each one leaning on a cane because of advanced age on the streets of the city,
11:31will be full of boys and girls playing.
11:34Though such a thing may seem to be difficult in the opinion of the small community of these days,
11:41will it also appear difficult to me, asks the Lord who rules over all.
11:48The Lord who rules over all asserts that I am about to save my people
11:53from the lands of the east and the west,
11:56and I will bring them to settle within Jerusalem.
11:59They will be my people and I will be their God in truth and righteousness.
12:07Yahweh of Amis says,
12:08Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets,
12:15who were in the day that the foundation of the house of Yahweh of Amis was laid,
12:20even the temple that it might be built.
12:23For before those days there were no wages for man,
12:27nor any wages for animals.
12:29Neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in,
12:33because of the adversary.
12:36For I set all men, everyone, against his neighbour,
12:42but now I will not be to the remnants of this people as in former days,
12:46says Yahweh of Amah.
12:49For the seed of peace and the vine will yield its fruit,
12:53and the ground will give its increase,
12:55and the heavens will give their due,
12:57and I will cause the remnants of this people to inherit all these things.
13:03It shall come to pass that,
13:05as you were a curse among the nations,
13:07house of Judah and house of Israel,
13:09so I will save you,
13:11and you shall be a blessing.
13:14Don't be afraid,
13:15let your hands be strong,
13:17for Yahweh of Amis says,
13:20As I thought to do evil to you,
13:22when your fathers prevent me to rot,
13:24says Yahweh of Amis,
13:26and I didn't repent.
13:29This is the word of the Lord.
13:32Thanks be to God.
13:46Mary said,
13:47My soul exalts the Lord,
13:50and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
13:54because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
14:00For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
14:05because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
14:08and holy is his name.
14:10From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
14:17He has demonstrated power with his arm.
14:21He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
14:27He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
14:30and has lifted up those of lowly position.
14:34He has filled the hungry with good things,
14:37and has sent the rich away empty.
14:40He has helped his servant Israel,
14:43remembering his mercy,
14:45as he promised to our ancestors,
14:48to Abraham,
14:49and to his descendants forever.
14:53Glory be to the Father,
14:55and to the Son,
14:56and to the Holy Spirit,
14:57as it was in the beginning,
15:00is now,
15:01and ever shall be,
15:03world without end.
15:05Amen.
15:10The Gospel according to St. Luke chapter 15.
15:16Then Jesus said,
15:18A man had two sons,
15:19the younger of whom said to his father,
15:23Father, give me the share of my estate
15:25that will belong to me.
15:28So he divided his assets between the boys.
15:32After a few days,
15:34the younger son gathered all that he had together,
15:36and left on a journey to a distant country.
15:40There,
15:40he squandered his wealth,
15:42with a wild lifestyle.
15:45After he had spent everything,
15:47a severe famine took place in that country,
15:50and he began to be in need.
15:53So he went,
15:54and worked for one of the citizens of that country,
15:57who sent him to his fields,
15:59to feed the pigs.
16:02He was longing to eat the pods
16:04that the pigs were eating,
16:05but no one gave him anything.
16:09Then he came to his senses and said,
16:11How many of my father's hired workers
16:14have food enough to spare?
16:16But here am I,
16:18dying from hunger.
16:20I will get up,
16:21and go to my father,
16:22and say to him,
16:23Father,
16:24I have sinned against heaven,
16:25and against you.
16:26I am no longer worthy
16:28to be called your son.
16:44I am no longer worthy to be called your son.
17:00But the father said to his slaves,
17:02Hurry,
17:03bring the best robe,
17:04and put it on him.
17:05Put a ring on his finger,
17:07and sandals on his feet.
17:08Bring in the fattened calf,
17:10and kill it.
17:11Let us eat,
17:12and celebrate,
17:13because this son of mine was dead,
17:16and is alive again.
17:17He was lost,
17:18and is fed.
17:19And so they began to celebrate.
17:24Then the older son was in the field,
17:27and as he came and approached the house,
17:28he heard music and dancing.
17:30So he called over to one of the slaves,
17:33and asked what was happening.
17:35The slave replied,
17:37Your brother has returned,
17:38and your father has killed the fattened calf,
17:41because he got his son's back safe and sound.
17:45So the eldest son became angry,
17:48and refused to go in.
17:52His father came out,
17:53and appealed to him.
17:55But he answered his father,
17:57Look,
17:58these many years,
17:59I have worked like a slave for you.
18:02I have never disobeyed your commands.
18:05Yet you never even give me a goat,
18:08that I might celebrate with my friends.
18:11But when this son of yours comes back,
18:14who has devoured your assets with prostitutes,
18:18you killed the fattened calf for him.
18:22Then the father said to him,
18:25Son, you were always with me,
18:27and everything that belongs to me is yours.
18:32But it is appropriate to celebrate and be glad,
18:35for your brother was dead and is alive.
18:37He was lost and now he is found.
18:42This is the word of the Lord.
18:45Thanks be to God.
18:57Now according to your word,
18:59Sovereign Lord,
19:00permit your servant to depart in peace.
19:04For my eyes have seen your salvation,
19:07that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
19:11a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
19:14and for glory to your people Israel.
19:19Glory be to the Father,
19:21and to the Son,
19:22and to the Holy Spirit,
19:23as it was in the beginning,
19:25is now,
19:26and ever shall be,
19:28world without end.
19:30Amen.
19:35I believe in God the Father Almighty,
19:38maker of heaven and earth,
19:40and in Jesus Christ,
19:42his only Son,
19:43our Lord,
19:44who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
19:47born of the Virgin Mary,
19:49suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
19:53was crucified,
19:54dead,
19:55and buried.
19:56He descended into hell.
19:58On the third day,
20:00he rose again from the dead.
20:02He ascended into heaven,
20:04and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
20:09From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
20:14I believe in the Holy Spirit,
20:16the Holy Catholic Church,
20:18the communion of saints,
20:19the forgiveness of sins,
20:22the resurrection of the body,
20:24and the life everlasting.
20:27Amen.
20:32The Lord be with you,
20:35and with your spirit.
20:39Let us pray.
20:43Lord, have mercy upon us.
20:46Christ, have mercy upon us.
20:50Lord, have mercy upon us.
20:57Our Father,
20:58who is in heaven,
21:00holy is your name.
21:03May your kingdom come.
21:05May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
21:10Give us this day our daily bread.
21:13Forgive us our trespasses,
21:15as we forgive those who trespass against us.
21:19Lead us not into temptation,
21:22but deliver us from evil.
21:24For yours is the kingdom,
21:27the power and the glory,
21:30for ever and ever.
21:32Amen.
21:37O Lord,
21:38O Lord,
21:38show your mercy upon us,
21:40and grant us your salvation.
21:46Protect and guide those in authority over us,
21:50and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
21:56Endure your ministers with righteousness,
22:00and make your chosen people joyful.
22:05O Lord,
22:06save your people,
22:09and bless your inheritance.
22:13Give peace in our time,
22:15O Lord,
22:17because there is none other who fights for us,
22:20but only you,
22:21O God.
22:23O God, make clean our hearts within us,
22:28and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
22:39Let us pray.
22:42O almighty and most merciful God,
22:45of your bountiful goodness keep us,
22:48we beseech you,
22:49from all things that may hurt us,
22:52that we, being ready both in body and soul,
22:56may cheerfully accomplish
22:57the things that you would have us do.
23:00Through Jesus Christ,
23:03our Lord.
23:04Amen.
23:12O God,
23:14from whom all holy desires,
23:17all good counsels,
23:18and all just works proceed,
23:21give to your servants that peace
23:23which the world cannot give,
23:25that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
23:29and also that,
23:31by you,
23:33we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
23:36may pass our time in rest and quietness.
23:40Through the merits of Jesus Christ,
23:43our Saviour.
23:44Amen.
23:49Lighten our darkness,
23:51we beseech you,
23:52O Lord,
23:53and by your great mercy,
23:55defend us all
23:56from perils and dangers of this night.
24:00For the love of your only Son,
24:02our Saviour,
24:03Jesus Christ.
24:04Amen.
24:08Almighty God,
24:10who has given us grace
24:11at this time with one accord
24:13to make our common supplications to you,
24:16and promises that when two or three
24:19are gathered together in your name,
24:21you will grant their requests.
24:25Fulfill now, O Lord,
24:27the desires and petitions of your servants,
24:30as may be most beneficial for them.
24:34Granting us in this world
24:36knowledge of your truth,
24:38and in the world to come,
24:40life everlasting.
24:42Amen.
24:45With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
24:48and the love of God,
24:49and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
24:52be with us all
24:53evermore.
24:55Amen.
