00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
05:03Praise the Lord, O my soul.
05:05O Lord, my God, you are magnificent.
05:09You are robed in splendor and majesty.
05:12He covers himself with light, as if it were a garment.
05:17He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain,
05:20and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds.
05:25He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind.
05:31He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant.
05:37He established the earth on its foundations.
05:40It will never be moved.
05:43The watery deep covered it like a garment.
05:49The waters reached above the mountains.
05:53Your shout made the waters retreat.
05:55At the sound of your thunderous voice, they hurried off,
05:58as the mountains rose up and the valleys went down,
06:02to the place you appointed for them.
06:05You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross,
06:09so that they would not cover the earth again.
06:13He turns springs into streams.
06:15They flow between the mountains.
06:18They provide water for all the animals in the field.
06:22The wild donkeys quench their thirst.
06:25The birds of the sky live beside them.
06:28They chirp among the bushes.
06:31He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace.
06:35The earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow.
06:41He provides grass for the cattle and crops for the people to cultivate,
06:46so that they can produce food from the ground,
06:49as well as wine that makes people feel so good,
06:52and so they can have oil to make their faces shine,
06:56as well as food that sustains people's lives.
07:01The trees of the Lord receive all the rain they need.
07:05The cedars of Lebanon, which he planted,
07:07where the birds make their nests,
07:10near the evergreens in which the herons live.
07:13The wild goats live in the high mountains.
07:16The rock badgers find safety in the cliffs.
07:21He made the moon to mark the months,
07:23and the sun sets according to a regular schedule.
07:27You make it dark and night comes,
07:30during which all the beasts of the forest prowl around.
07:34The lions roar for prey, seeking their food from God.
07:40When the sun rises, they withdraw and sleep in their dens.
07:45Men then go out to do their work,
07:48and labour away until evening.
07:51How many living things have you made, O Lord?
07:55You have exhibited great skill in making all of them.
07:58The earth is full of living things you have made.
08:03Over here is the deep wide sea,
08:05which teems with innumerable swimming creatures,
08:09living things both small and large.
08:13The ships travel there,
08:15and over here swims the whale you made to play in it.
08:20All of your creatures wait for you to provide them with food,
08:23on a regular basis.
08:25You give food to them, and they receive it.
08:28You open your hand, and they are filled with food.
08:32When you ignore them, they panic.
08:34When you take away their life's breath,
08:36they die and return to dust.
08:39When you send your life-giving breath,
08:42they are created,
08:43and you replenish the surface of the ground.
08:47May the splendour of the Lord endure.
08:50May the Lord find pleasure
08:52in the living things He has made.
08:55He looks down on the earth,
08:57and it shakes.
08:58He touches the mountains,
08:59and they start to smoulder.
09:02I will sing to the Lord as long as I live.
09:05I will sing praise to my God
09:07as long as I exist.
09:10May my thoughts be pleasing to Him.
09:13I will rejoice in the Lord.
09:16May sinners disappear from the earth,
09:18and the wicked vanish.
09:20Praise the Lord, O my soul.
09:22Praise the Lord.
09:25Glory be to the Father,
09:26and to the Son,
09:27and to the Holy Spirit,
09:29as it was in the beginning,
09:31is now, and ever shall be,
09:33world without end.
09:36Amen.
09:44The prophet Daniel, chapter 12.
09:48At that time Michael will stand up,
09:50the great prince who stands up
09:52for the children of your people.
09:55There will be a time of trouble
09:56such as never was
09:58since there was a nation
09:59even to that same time.
10:02At that time your people will be delivered,
10:05everyone who is found written in the book.
10:09Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth
10:12will awake,
10:13some to everlasting life,
10:16and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
10:20Those who are wise will shine
10:22as the brightness of the expanse.
10:26Those who turn many to righteousness
10:28will shine as the stars for ever and ever.
10:33But you Daniel must shut up the words
10:36and seal the book
10:37even to the end of time.
10:40Many will run back and forth,
10:43and knowledge will be increased.
10:47Then I, Daniel, looked,
10:48and behold, two others stood,
10:50one on the riverbank on this side
10:52and the other on the riverbank
10:54on the other side.
10:57One said to the man clothed in linen
10:59who was above the waters of the river,
11:02How long will it be
11:04to the end of these wonders?
11:07I heard the man clothed in linen
11:09who was above the waters of the river
11:11when he held up his right hand
11:13and his left to heaven
11:15and swore by him who lives forever
11:18that it will be for a time,
11:21times and a half.
11:24And when they had finished
11:25breaking in pieces
11:26the power of the holy people,
11:28all these things will be finished.
11:32I heard, but I did not understand.
11:38Then I said,
11:39My Lord, what will be the outcome
11:41of these things?
11:44He said to me,
11:46Go your way, Daniel,
11:47for the words are shut up and sealed
11:49until the end of time.
11:51Many will purify themselves
11:54and make themselves white
11:56and be refined.
11:58But the wicked will do wicked things
12:02and none of the wicked will understand.
12:05But those who are wise
12:07will understand.
12:11from the time that the continual burnt offering
12:14is taken away
12:16and the abomination that makes desolate set up,
12:21there will be 1,290 days.
12:26Blessed is he who waits
12:28and who comes
12:29to the 1,335 days.
12:35But go your way until the end,
12:38for you will rest
12:39and will stand in your inheritance
12:40at the end of the days.
12:44This is the word of the Lord.
12:48Thanks be to God.
12:50Amen.
13:02Mary said,
13:04My soul exalts the Lord,
13:06and my spirit has begun to rejoice
13:08in God my Saviour,
13:11because he has looked
13:12upon the humble state of his servant.
13:16For from now on
13:18all generations
13:19will call me blessed,
13:20because he who is mighty
13:22has done great things for me
13:24and holy is his name.
13:27From generation to generation
13:29he is merciful
13:31to those who fear him.
13:33He has demonstrated power
13:36with his arm.
13:37He has scattered those
13:39whose pride wells up
13:40from the sheer arrogance
13:41of their hearts.
13:43He has brought down
13:45the mighty from their thrones
13:46and has lifted up
13:48those of lowly position.
13:50He has filled the hungry
13:51with good things
13:53and has sent the rich
13:54away empty.
13:56He has helped
13:57his servant Israel,
13:59remembering his mercy
14:01as he promised
14:02to our ancestors,
14:04to Abraham
14:05and to his descendants
14:07for ever.
14:09Glory be to the Father
14:11and to the Son
14:12and to the Holy Spirit
14:13as it was
14:15in the beginning
14:15is now
14:17and ever shall be
14:18world without end.
14:20Amen.
14:29The Gospel according
14:30to Saint Mark
14:31Chapter 15
14:35Early in the morning
14:36after forming a plan
14:38the chief priests
14:39with the elders
14:40and the experts
14:41in the law
14:42the whole Sanhedrin
14:44tied Jesus up
14:46led him away
14:47and gave him over
14:48to Pilate.
14:50So Pilate asked him
14:52Are you the king
14:54of the Jews?
14:56Jesus replied
14:57You say so.
15:01Then the chief priests
15:02began to accuse him
15:03repeatedly
15:04so Pilate asked him
15:05again
15:07Have you nothing
15:08to say?
15:09See how many charges
15:11they are bringing
15:11against you.
15:13But Jesus made
15:15no further reply
15:16so Pilate
15:17was amazed.
15:20Now during the feast
15:21it was customary
15:22to release one prisoner
15:24to the people
15:24whoever they requested
15:27and there was a man
15:28named Barabbas
15:29imprisoned with rebels
15:31who committed murder
15:32during an insurrection.
15:35Then the crowd
15:36came up
15:37and began to ask
15:38Pilate
15:38to release a prisoner
15:40for them
15:40as was his custom.
15:43So Pilate
15:44asked them
15:45Do you want me
15:46to release
15:47the king of the Jews
15:48for you?
15:49For he knew
15:50that the chief priests
15:51had handed him over
15:53because of their jealousy.
15:56But the chief priests
15:58stirred up the crowd
15:59to have him
16:00release Barabbas
16:01instead.
16:03So Pilate
16:04asked them again
16:05What then
16:06do you want me
16:07to do with the one
16:08you call the king
16:08of the Jews?
16:10They shouted back
16:12Crucify him!
16:15Pilate asked them
16:16But why?
16:17What has he done wrong?
16:20But they became
16:21more insistent
16:23Crucify him!
16:27Because he wanted
16:28to satisfy the crowd
16:30Pilate released
16:31Barabbas for them
16:33Then after
16:34he had had
16:35Jesus flocked
16:37He handed him
16:39over
16:39to be crucified
16:44So the soldiers
16:45led him
16:46into the palace
16:46that is
16:47the governor's
16:48residence
16:50and called together
16:51the whole cohort
16:52They put a purple
16:54cloak on him
16:55and after
16:56making a crown
16:57of thorns
16:57for him
16:58they put it on
17:00And they began
17:01to salute him
17:02saying
17:02Hail King
17:03of the Jews
17:03Again and again
17:04They struck him
17:06on the head
17:07with a staff
17:08and spat
17:09upon him
17:12Then they knelt
17:13down and paid
17:14homage to him
17:16And when they
17:17had finished
17:17mocking him
17:18they stripped him
17:19of the purple
17:20cloak
17:20and put his own
17:21clothes back
17:22on him
17:23and led him
17:24away
17:24to crucify him
17:28The soldiers
17:29forced a passerby
17:30to carry his cross
17:32One Simon of Cyrene
17:34who was coming in
17:35from the country
17:37He was the father
17:38of Alexander
17:39and Rufus
17:41They brought Jesus
17:42to a place
17:42called Golgotha
17:44which is translated
17:45as the place
17:46of the skull
17:48They offered him
17:50wine mixed with myrrh
17:51but he did not
17:52take it
17:54There they crucified him
17:55and divided his clothes
17:57throwing a dice
17:58for them
17:59to decide
18:00what each
18:01would take
18:03It was nine
18:04in the morning
18:05when they crucified him
18:07The inscription
18:08of the charge
18:09against him
18:10read
18:10The King
18:11of the Jews
18:14They crucified
18:16two outlaws
18:17with him
18:17one on the right
18:18and one
18:19to the left
18:20Those who passed by
18:22defamed him
18:23shaking their heads
18:24and saying
18:24Ha ha
18:25you who can destroy
18:26the temple
18:27and rebuild it
18:28in three days
18:29Save yourself
18:30and come down
18:31from the cross
18:33In the same way
18:34even the chief priests
18:35and the experts
18:36in the law
18:37were mocking him
18:38amongst themselves
18:39saying
18:39He saved others
18:41but he cannot
18:42save himself
18:44Let the Christ
18:45the King of Israel
18:46come down
18:47from the cross
18:47now
18:48that we may see
18:49and believe
18:52those who were crucified
18:53with him
18:54also spoke
18:56abusively
18:57to him
18:59Now when it was
19:01about noon
19:02darkness came over
19:04the whole land
19:05until three
19:05in the afternoon
19:07At around three
19:09o'clock
19:09Jesus cried out
19:11with a loud voice
19:12Eloi
19:13Eloi
19:13Lema
19:14Samathani
19:16which means
19:17My God
19:17My God
19:18Why have you
19:20forsaken me?
19:23When some of those
19:24nearby heard it
19:25they said
19:25Listen
19:26he's calling
19:27for Elijah
19:29Then someone ran
19:30filled a sponge
19:32with sour wine
19:33put it on a stick
19:34and gave it to him
19:36to drink
19:37saying
19:38Leave him alone
19:39Let us see
19:41if Elijah
19:41will come
19:42and take him down
19:45But Jesus
19:46cried out
19:46with a loud voice
19:47and breathed
19:49his last
19:51The temple curtain
19:52was torn in two
19:53from top
19:54to bottom
19:57Now when the centurion
19:59who was standing
19:59in front of him
20:00saw the way
20:01in which he died
20:02he said
20:04Truly this man
20:05was God's son
20:09There were also women
20:10standing
20:11watching from a distance
20:13Among them
20:14were Mary Magdalene
20:15and Mary the mother
20:16of James the younger
20:17and of Joseph
20:18and Salome
20:21When he was in Galilee
20:23they had followed him
20:24and given him support
20:27Other women
20:28who had come up
20:28with him
20:29to Jerusalem
20:30were there too
20:34This is the word
20:35of the Lord
20:36Thanks be to God
20:48Now according to your word
20:50Sovereign Lord
20:51Permit your servant
20:53to depart in peace
