00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:55Psalm 41
04:57How blessed is the one who treats the poor properly.
05:01When trouble comes, may the Lord deliver him.
05:05May the Lord protect him, and save his life.
05:09May he be blessed in the land.
05:11Do not turn him over to his enemies.
05:16The Lord supports him on his sickbed.
05:19You have healed him from his illness.
05:23As for me, I said,
05:25O Lord, have mercy on me.
05:27Heal me, for I have sinned against you.
05:31My enemies ask this cruel question about me.
05:35When will he finally die and be forgotten?
05:40When someone comes to visit, he pretends to be friendly.
05:45He thinks of ways to defame me, and then he leaves and slanders me.
05:50All who hate me whisper insults about me to one another.
05:55They plan ways to harm me.
05:58They say, an awful disease overwhelms me,
06:02and now that he is bedridden, he will never recover.
06:07Even my close friend, whom I trusted,
06:10he who shares meals with me, has turned against me.
06:14As for you, O Lord, have mercy on me, and raise me up,
06:18so I can pay them back.
06:21By this, I know that you are pleased with me,
06:24for my enemy does not triumph over me.
06:28As for me, you uphold me because of my integrity.
06:32You allow me permanent access to your presence.
06:37The Lord God of Israel deserves praise in the future and forevermore.
06:43We agree.
06:44We agree.
06:47Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
06:52as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
06:57world without end.
06:59Amen.
07:02Psalm 42
07:05As a deer longs for streams of water,
07:09so I long for you, O God.
07:12I thirst for God, for the living God, I say.
07:16When will I be able to go and appear in God's presence?
07:20I cannot eat.
07:22I weep day and night.
07:24All day long, they say to me,
07:26Where is your God?
07:29I will remember and weep,
07:31for I was once walking along with a great throng to the temple of God,
07:35shouting and giving thanks along with the crowd
07:38as we celebrated the holy festival.
07:43Why are you depressed, O my soul?
07:46Why are you upset?
07:47Wait for God.
07:49I will again give my thanks to God
07:51for his saving intervention.
07:55I am depressed,
07:56so I will pray to you while in the region of the Upper Jordan,
08:00from Hermon to Mount Mizar.
08:03One deep stream calls out to another
08:06at the sound of your waterfalls.
08:09All your billows and waves overwhelm me.
08:14By day the Lord decrees his loyal love,
08:17and by night he gives me a song,
08:20a prayer to the God of my life.
08:23I will pray to God, my high ridge.
08:26Why do you ignore me?
08:28Why must I walk around mourning,
08:31because my enemies oppress me?
08:34My enemies' taunts cut into me to the bone,
08:38as they say to me all day long,
08:40Where is your God?
08:43Why are you depressed, O my soul?
08:46Why are you upset?
08:49Wait for God,
08:50for I will again give thanks to my God
08:53for his saving intervention.
08:57Glory be to the Father,
08:59and to the Son,
08:59and to the Holy Spirit,
09:01as it was in the beginning,
09:03is now, and ever shall be,
09:05world without end.
09:07Amen.
09:11Psalm 43
09:14Vindicate me, O God,
09:16fight for me against an ungodly nation.
09:20Deliver me from deceitful and evil men.
09:24For you are the God who shelters me.
09:27Why do you reject me?
09:29Why must I walk around mourning,
09:31because my enemies oppress me?
09:34Reveal your light and your faithfulness.
09:37They will lead me,
09:38they will escort me back to your holy hill,
09:41and to the place where you live.
09:44Then I will go to the altar of God,
09:48to the God who gives me ecstatic joy,
09:51so that I express my thanks to you, O God,
09:55my God, with a harp.
09:59Why are you depressed, O my soul?
10:02Why are you upset?
10:04Wait for God,
10:06for I will again give thanks to my God
10:09for his saving intervention.
10:13Glory be to the Father,
10:15and to the Son,
10:16and to the Holy Spirit,
10:17as it was in the beginning,
10:19is now, and ever shall be,
10:22world without end.
10:24Amen.
10:31The prophet Micah chapter 4
10:36In the latter days,
10:37it will happen that the mountains of Yahweh's temple
10:40will be established on the top of the mountains.
10:44It will be exalted above the hills,
10:47and people will stream to it.
10:50Many nations will say,
10:52Come, let us go to the mountain of Yahweh,
10:55to the house of the God of Jacob,
10:57and he will teach us of his ways,
11:00and we will walk in his paths.
11:03For the Lord will go out of Zion,
11:06and Yahweh's word from Jerusalem.
11:09He will judge between many peoples,
11:12and will decide concerning strong nations afar off.
11:17They will beat their swords into plowshares,
11:20and their spears into pruning hooks.
11:23Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
11:27neither will they learn war anymore.
11:31But they will sit every man under his vine,
11:34and under his fig tree.
11:36No one will make them afraid.
11:39For the mouth of Yahweh of armies has spoken.
11:44Indeed, all the nations may walk in the name of their gods,
11:48but we will walk in the name of Yahweh our God,
11:51forever and ever.
11:55In that day, says Yahweh,
11:56I will assemble what is lame,
11:59and I will gather that which is driven away,
12:02that which I have afflicted.
12:05I will make that which was lame a remnant,
12:08and that which was cast far off a strong nation.
12:13Yahweh will reign over them on Mount Zion from then on,
12:17even forever.
12:19You, tower of the flock,
12:22the hill of the daughter of Zion,
12:24to you it will come.
12:26Yes, the former dominion will come,
12:28the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.
12:32Now why do you cry out aloud?
12:34Is there no king in you?
12:36Has your counsellor perished,
12:38that pains have taken hold of you,
12:40like a woman in labour?
12:42Be in pain,
12:44labouring to give birth,
12:46daughter of Zion,
12:49like a woman in labour.
12:50For now you will go out of the city,
12:53and will dwell in the field,
12:55and will come even as far as Babylon.
12:59There you will be rescued.
13:01There Yahweh will redeem you from the hand of your enemies.
13:05Now many nations have assembled against you,
13:09that say,
13:10let her be defiled,
13:11and let her eye gloat on Zion.
13:14But they don't understand the thoughts of Yahweh,
13:17neither do they understand his counsel,
13:20for he has gathered them like the sheaves to the threshing floor.
13:26Arise and thresh,
13:27daughter of Zion,
13:29for I will make your horn ironed,
13:31and I will make your hooves brass,
13:33and you will beat in pieces many peoples.
13:37I will devote their gain to Yahweh,
13:39and their substance to the Lord of the whole earth.
13:44This is the word of the Lord.
13:47Thanks be to God.
14:00Mary said,
14:02My soul exalts the Lord,
14:04and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
14:09because he has looked upon the humble state
14:12of his servant.
14:15For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
14:19because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
14:23and holy is his name.
14:26From generation to generation
14:28he is merciful to those who fear him.
14:32He has demonstrated power with his arm.
14:36He has scattered those whose pride wells up
14:38from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
14:42He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
14:45and has lifted up those of lowly position.
14:48He has filled the hungry with good things,
14:51and has sent the rich away empty.
14:55He has helped his servant Israel,
14:58remembering his mercy,
14:59as he promised to our ancestors,
15:02to Abraham,
15:04and to his descendants forever.
15:07Glory be to the Father,
15:09and to the Son,
15:10and to the Holy Spirit,
15:12as it was in the beginning,
15:14is now,
15:15and ever shall be,
15:17world without end.
15:19Amen.
15:25The Gospel according to Saint Luke,
15:27chapter 8.
15:30And they arrived in the country of the Gadarenes,
15:34which is opposite Galilee.
15:36When Jesus stepped ashore,
15:38a certain man out of the city,
15:40who had heed demons for a long time,
15:43met him.
15:44He wore no clothes,
15:46and didn't live in a house,
15:47but in the tombs.
15:49When he saw Jesus,
15:51he cried out,
15:52and fell down before him,
15:54saying with a loud voice,
15:56What do I have to do with you,
15:58Jesus,
15:59Son of the Most High God?
16:01I beg you,
16:02do not torment me.
16:04For Jesus was commanding the unclean spirit
16:07to come out of the man.
16:09For the unclean spirit had often seized the man.
16:13He was kept under guard,
16:15and bound with chains and fetters.
16:19Breaking these bonds apart,
16:21he was driven by the demon into the desert.
16:25Jesus asked him,
16:26What is your name?
16:28He said,
16:29Legion,
16:30for many demons had entered into him.
16:34They begged him,
16:35that he would not command them to go into the abyss.
16:39Now there was a herd of pigs,
16:41feeding on the mountain,
16:43and they begged,
16:44that he would allow them to enter into those.
16:47And he allowed them.
16:49And the demons came out of the man,
16:51and entered into the pigs.
16:53And the herd rushed down the steep bank,
16:56into the lake,
16:57and were drowned.
16:59When those who fed them saw what had happened,
17:02they fled,
17:02and told it in the city and in the country.
17:07Many people went out to see what had happened.
17:10They came to Jesus,
17:12and found the man from whom the demons had gone out,
17:17sitting at Jesus' feet,
17:19clothed and in his right mind.
17:21And they were afraid.
17:24Those who saw it told them how he had been possessed by demons,
17:29and was healed.
17:34All the people of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes,
17:37asked him to depart from them,
17:40for they were very much afraid.
17:43He entered into the boat,
17:45and returned.
17:47But the man from whom the demons had gone out,
17:49begged that he might go with them.
17:52But Jesus sent him away,
17:54saying,
17:55Go back to your house,
17:56and tell everyone the great things that God has done for you.
18:01And he went his way,
18:03proclaiming throughout the whole city,
18:05what great things Jesus had done for him.
18:10When Jesus returned,
18:12the multitude welcomed him,
18:14for they were all waiting for him.
18:16And behold,
18:17there was a man named Jairus,
18:19and he was a ruler of the synagogue.
18:21He fell down at the feet of Jesus,
18:24and begged him to come into his house.
18:27For he had an only daughter,
18:29being about twelve years of age,
18:31and she was dying.
18:34But as he went,
18:36the multitudes pressed against him.
18:39A woman,
18:40who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,
18:43and had spent all her living on doctors,
18:46could not be healed by any of them,
18:49came behind him,
18:50and touching the fringe of his cloak,
18:54was immediately healed.
18:57Jesus said,
18:59Who touched me?
19:01When all denied it,
19:04Peter and those with him said,
19:05Master,
19:07the multitudes press and jostle all around,
19:09and you say,
19:10Who touched me?
19:14But Jesus said,
19:16Someone did touch me,
19:19for I perceive that power has gone out from me.
19:26When the woman saw that she was not hidden,
19:28she came trembling,
19:29and falling down before him,
19:32declared to him in the presence of all the people,
19:34the reason why she had touched him,
19:37and how she had been healed immediately.
19:41He said to her,
19:42Daughter,
19:51And while he still spoke,
19:54one of them came from the ruler of the synagogue's house,
19:57saying,
19:58Your daughter is dead,
20:00do not trouble the master.
20:03But Jesus,
20:04hearing it,
20:05answered,
20:05Do not be afraid,
20:07only believe,
20:07and she will be healed.
20:10When he came to the house,
20:12he did not allow anyone to enter,
20:14except Peter,
20:15James,
20:15and John,
20:17the father and mother of the child.
20:23All were weeping and mourning,
20:25but he said,
20:25Don't weep,
20:27for she is not dead,
20:28but merely sleeping.
20:30And they made fun of him,
20:32knowing that she was dead.
20:34But he sent them all out,
20:36and taking her by the hand,
20:38he called to her,
20:39saying,
20:40Child,
20:41get up.
20:42Her spirit returned,
20:44and she rose up immediately.
20:46He commanded that something be given to her to eat.
20:51Her parents were amazed,
20:53but he commanded them to tell no one what had been done.
20:58This is the word of the Lord.
21:01Thanks be to God.
21:12Now, according to your word,
21:14Sovereign Lord,
21:15permit your servant to depart in peace.
21:19For my eyes have seen your salvation,
21:22that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
21:26a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
21:29and for glory to your people Israel.
21:34Glory be to the Father,
21:36and to the Son,
21:37and to the Holy Spirit,
21:39as it was in the beginning,
21:41is now,
21:41and ever shall be,
21:43world without end.
21:45Amen.
21:50I believe in God the Father Almighty,
21:53maker of heaven and earth,
21:56and in Jesus Christ,
21:57his only Son,
21:58our Lord,
21:59who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
22:02born of the Virgin Mary,
22:05suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
22:08who was crucified,
22:09dead,
22:10and buried.
22:11He descended into hell.
22:14On the third day,
22:15he rose again from the dead.
22:17He ascended into heaven,
22:19and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
22:24From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
22:29I believe in the Holy Spirit,
22:31the Holy Catholic Church,
22:33the communion of saints,
22:35the forgiveness of sins,
22:37the resurrection of the body,
22:39and the life everlasting.
22:42Amen.
22:47The Lord be with you,
22:50and with your spirit.
22:54Let us pray.
22:58Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:01Christ, have mercy upon us.
23:06Lord, have mercy upon us.
23:12Our Father, who is in heaven,
23:16holy is your name.
23:18May your kingdom come.
23:20May your will be done on earth
23:23as it is in heaven.
23:26Give us this day our daily bread.
23:28Forgive us our trespasses,
23:30as we forgive those who trespass against us.
23:34Lead us not into temptation,
23:37but deliver us from evil.
23:40For yours is the kingdom,
23:42the power and the glory,
23:45for ever and ever.
23:47Amen.
23:52O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
23:56and grant us your salvation.
24:01Protect and guide those in authority over us,
24:06and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
24:11Endue your ministers with righteousness,
24:14and make your chosen people joyful.
24:20O Lord, save your people,
24:24and bless your inheritance.
24:28Give peace in our time, O Lord,
24:32because there is none other who fights for us,
24:35but only you, O God.
24:38O God, make clean our hearts within us,
24:43and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
24:54Let us pray.
24:57O Lord, we beseech you,
24:59grant your people grace
25:00to withstand the temptations of the world,
25:03the flesh, and the devil,
25:05and with pure hearts and minds
25:08follow you, the only God,
25:10through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
25:13Amen.
25:21O God,
25:22from whom all holy desires,
25:25all good counsels,
25:26and all just works proceed,
25:28give to your servants that peace
25:31which the world cannot give,
25:34that our hearts may be set
25:36to obey your commandments,
25:38and also that, by you,
25:41we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
25:45may pass our time in rest and quietness,
25:49through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
25:53Amen.
25:58Lighten our darkness,
25:59we beseech you, O Lord,
26:01and by your great mercy defend us all
26:04from perils and dangers of this night.
26:08For the love of your only Son,
26:10our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
26:13Amen.
26:17Almighty God,
26:18who has given us grace at this time
26:20with one accord
26:21to make our common supplications to you,
26:25and promises that when two or three
26:27are gathered together in your name,
26:29you will grant their requests.
26:33Fulfill now, O Lord,
26:35the desires and petitions of your servants,
26:39as may be most beneficial for them,
26:43granting us in this world
26:44knowledge of your truth,
26:47and in the world to come,
26:48life everlasting.
26:51Amen.
26:54With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
26:56and the love of God,
26:58and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
27:00be with us all evermore.
27:03Amen.
