00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 6
04:59O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger.
05:03Do not discipline me in your raging fury.
05:07Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am frail.
05:10Heal me, Lord, for my bones are shaking.
05:15I am absolutely terrified, and you, Lord, how long will this continue?
05:22Relent, O Lord, rescue me, deliver me, because of your faithfulness.
05:28For no one remembers you in the realm of death.
05:31In shale, who gives you thanks?
05:34I am exhausted as I groan.
05:37All night long I drench my bed in tears.
05:40My tears saturate the cushion beneath me.
05:45My eyes grow dim from suffering.
05:47They grow weak because of all my enemies.
05:51Turn back from me, all you who behave wickedly.
05:56For the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping.
05:59The Lord has heard my appeal for mercy.
06:02The Lord has accepted my prayer.
06:06They will be humiliated and absolutely terrified.
06:10All my enemies will turn back and be suddenly humiliated.
06:16Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
06:20as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
06:25world without end.
06:26Amen.
06:31Psalm 7
06:34O Lord, my God, in you I have taken shelter.
06:39Deliver me from all who chase me.
06:42Rescue me.
06:44Otherwise, they will rip me to shreds like a lion.
06:46They will tear me to bits and no one will be able to rescue me.
06:52O Lord, my God, if I have done what they say,
06:55or I am guilty of unjust actions,
06:58or have wronged my ally or helped his lawless enemy,
07:01may an enemy relentlessly chase me and catch me.
07:06May he trample me to death and leave me lying dishonoured in the dust.
07:13Stand up angrily, Lord.
07:16Rise up with raging fury against my enemies.
07:21Wake up for my sake and execute the judgment you have decreed for them.
07:27The countries are assembled all around you.
07:31Take once more your rightful place over them.
07:36The Lord judges the nations.
07:40Vindicate me, Lord, because I am innocent,
07:42because I am blameless, O exalted one.
07:46May the evil deeds of the wicked come to an end,
07:50but make the innocent secure, O righteous God,
07:55you who examine inner thoughts and motives.
07:59The exalted God is my shield,
08:02the one who delivers the morally upright.
08:06God is a just judge.
08:08He is angry throughout the day.
08:11If a person does not repent,
08:14God will wield his sword.
08:16He has prepared to shoot his bow.
08:19He has prepared deadly weapons to use against him.
08:23He gets ready to shoot flaming arrows.
08:28See the one who is pregnant with wickedness,
08:31who conceives destructive plans and gives birth to harmful lies.
08:36He digs a pit and then falls into the hole he has made.
08:40He has become the victim of his own destructive plans,
08:45and the violence he intended for others falls on his own head.
08:52I will thank the Lord for his justice.
08:55I will sing praises to the Lord Most High.
08:59Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
09:03as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
09:07world without end.
09:10Amen.
09:11Psalm 8
09:14O Lord, our Lord,
09:16how magnificent is your reputation throughout the earth!
09:21You reveal your majesty in the heavens above.
09:25From the mouths of children and nursing babies
09:28you have ordained praise on account of your adversaries,
09:32so that you might put an end to the vindictive enemy.
09:37When I look up at the heavens which your fingers made,
09:40and see the moon and the stars which you set in place,
09:44of what importance is the human race that you should notice them?
09:49Of what importance is mankind that you should pay attention to them?
09:55You made them a little less than the heavenly beings.
09:58You crowned mankind with honour and majesty.
10:02You appoint them to rule over your creation.
10:05You have placed everything under their authority,
10:08including all the sheep and cattle,
10:11as well as the wild animals,
10:13the birds in the sky,
10:15the fish in the sea,
10:16and everything that moves through the currents of the sea.
10:20O Lord, our Lord,
10:22how magnificent is your reputation throughout the earth!
10:27Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
10:31as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
10:35world without end.
10:37Amen.
10:44The Prophet Amos, Chapter 4
10:47Listen to this word,
10:49you cows of Bashan,
10:51who are on the mountain of Samaria,
10:54you who oppress the poor,
10:56who crush the needy,
10:57who tell their husbands,
10:59bring us drinks.
11:02The Lord Yahweh has sworn by his holiness,
11:05that, behold,
11:07the days shall come on you
11:09that they will take you away with hooks,
11:11and the last of you with fishhooks.
11:14You will go out at the bricks in the wall,
11:17everyone straight before her,
11:19and you will cast yourselves into Haman,
11:22says Yahweh.
11:25Go to Bethel and sin,
11:27to Gilgal and sin more.
11:30Bring your sacrifices every morning,
11:32your tithes every three days.
11:35Offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
11:38of that which is leavened,
11:39and proclaim free will offerings,
11:42and brag about them,
11:43for this pleases you,
11:45you children of Israel,
11:47says Lord Yahweh.
11:49I have given you
11:50cleanness of teeth
11:52in all your cities,
11:53and lack of bread in every town,
11:55and you still haven't returned to me,
11:58says Yahweh.
11:59I have also withheld the rain from you,
12:02and when there were yet three months
12:04to the harvest,
12:06and I caused it to rain on one city,
12:09and caused it not to rain on another city.
12:13One place was rained on,
12:14and the peace where it didn't rain withered.
12:18So two or three cities
12:20staggered to one city to drink water,
12:22and were not satisfied.
12:24And yet you still haven't returned to me,
12:27said Yahweh.
12:29I struck you with blight,
12:30and milled you many times
12:32in your gardens and your vineyards.
12:34Your fig trees,
12:35and your olive trees,
12:37have the swarming locusts.
12:39And yet you haven't returned to me,
12:41said Yahweh.
12:43I sent plagues among you,
12:45like I did in Egypt.
12:46I have slain your young men with the sword.
12:49I have carried away your horses.
12:51I have filled your nostrils
12:53with the stench of your camp.
12:55And yet you still do not return to me,
12:58said Yahweh.
13:00I have overthrown some of you,
13:02as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah,
13:05and you were like a burning stick
13:07plucked out of the fire.
13:09Yet you haven't returned to me.
13:13Therefore, this I will do to you, Israel,
13:16because I will do this to you,
13:17prepare to meet your God, Israel.
13:19For behold,
13:21he who forms the mountains
13:22and creates the wind
13:24declares to man
13:25what is his thought,
13:27who makes the morning darkness
13:29and treads on the high places of the earth.
13:33Yahweh, God of armies,
13:35is his name.
13:37This is the word of the Lord.
13:40Thanks be to God.
13:51Mary said,
13:53My soul exalts the Lord,
13:56and my spirit has begun to rejoice
13:59in God my Saviour,
14:01because he has looked upon the humble state
14:04of his servant.
14:06For from now on all generations
14:09will call me blessed,
14:11because he who is mighty
14:12has done great things for me,
14:15and holy is his name.
14:17From generation to generation
14:20he is merciful to those who fear him.
14:24He has demonstrated power with his arm.
14:27He has scattered those whose pride
14:30wells up from the sheer arrogance
14:31of their hearts.
14:33He has brought down the mighty
14:35from their thrones,
14:36and has lifted up those of lowly position.
14:40He has filled the hungry with good things,
14:43and has sent the rich away empty.
14:46He has helped his servant Israel,
14:49remembering his mercy,
14:51as he promised to our ancestors,
14:54to Abraham,
14:55and to his descendants for ever.
14:59Glory be to the Father,
15:01and to the Son,
15:02and to the Holy Spirit,
15:04as it was in the beginning,
15:06is now, and ever shall be,
15:08world without end.
15:10Amen.
15:17The Gospel according to St. Luke,
15:20Chapter 5
15:23Jesus was standing by the lake of Gennesaret,
15:27and the crowd was pressing around him
15:29to hear the word of God.
15:31He saw two boats by the lake,
15:34but the fishermen had gotten out of them
15:37and were washing their nets.
15:39He got into one of the boats,
15:41which was Simon's,
15:43and asked him to put out a little way from the shore.
15:46Then Jesus sat down and taught the crowds from the boat.
15:51When he had finished speaking,
15:53he said to Simon,
15:55put out into the deeper water
15:57and lower your nets for a catch.
16:01Simon answered,
16:03Master, we worked hard all night
16:05and caught nothing,
16:07but at your word I will lower the nets.
16:11When they had done this,
16:13they caught so many fish that their nets started to turn.
16:17And so they motioned to their partners in the other boat
16:21to come and help them.
16:23And they came and filled both boats
16:25so that they were both about to sink.
16:28And when Simon Peter saw it,
16:30he fell down at the knees of Jesus saying,
16:34Go away from me, Lord,
16:35for I am a sinful man.
16:39For Peter and all who were with him
16:41were astonished at the catch of fish
16:43that they had taken.
16:45So were James and John,
16:47Zebedee's sons,
16:48who were Simon's business partners.
16:51Then Jesus said to Simon,
16:53Do not be afraid,
16:55for from now on you will be catching people.
16:58And so when they had brought their boats to the shore,
17:01they left everything and followed him.
17:08While Jesus was in one of the Thames,
17:10a man came to him
17:11who was covered with leprosy.
17:14When he saw Jesus,
17:15he bowed down with his face to the ground
17:17and begged him,
17:19Lord, if you are willing,
17:21you can make me clean.
17:24So Jesus stretched out his hand
17:26and touched him saying,
17:28I am willing, be clean.
17:32And immediately the leprosy left him.
17:36Then he ordered the man not to tell anyone,
17:39but commanded him,
17:40Go, show yourself to the priest
17:42and bring the offering for your cleansing,
17:46as Moses commanded,
17:48as a testimony to them.
17:52But the news about him spread even more,
17:55and large crowds gathered together
17:58to hear him
17:58and to be healed of their illnesses.
18:02And yet Jesus himself frequently withdrew to the wilderness to pray.
18:08This is the word of the Lord.
18:11Thanks be to God.
18:23Now, according to your word,
18:26Sovereign Lord,
18:27permit your servant to depart in peace.
18:30For my eyes have seen your salvation
18:33that you have prepared
18:35in the presence of all peoples,
18:38a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
18:41and for glory to your people Israel.
18:46Glory be to the Father,
18:48and to the Son,
18:49and to the Holy Spirit,
18:51as it was in the beginning,
18:52is now,
18:53and ever shall be,
18:55world without end.
18:57Amen.
19:01I believe in God the Father Almighty,
19:05maker of heaven and earth,
19:07and in Jesus Christ,
19:09his only Son,
19:09our Lord,
19:11who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
19:14born of the Virgin Mary,
19:16suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
19:19was crucified,
19:21dead,
19:22and buried.
19:23He descended into hell.
19:24On the third day,
19:26he rose again from the dead.
19:29He ascended into heaven,
19:31and is sitting at the right hand of God,
19:34the Father Almighty.
19:36From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
19:40I believe in the Holy Spirit,
19:43the Holy Catholic Church,
19:45the communion of saints,
19:46the forgiveness of sins,
19:48the resurrection of the body,
19:51and the life everlasting.
19:54Amen.
19:59The Lord be with you,
20:02and with your spirit.
20:06Let us pray.
20:09Lord, have mercy upon us.
20:13Christ, have mercy upon us.
20:17Lord, have mercy upon us.
20:24Our Father,
20:25who is in heaven,
20:27holy is your name.
20:30May your kingdom come.
20:32May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
20:37Give us this day our daily bread.
20:39Give us this day our daily bread.
20:39Forgive us our trespasses,
20:41as we forgive those who trespass against us.
20:46Lead us not into temptation,
20:48but deliver us from evil.
20:51For yours is the kingdom,
20:54the power and the glory,
20:56for ever and ever.
20:58Amen.
21:04O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
21:07and grant us your salvation.
21:12protect and guide those in authority over us,
21:17and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
21:23Endue your ministers with righteousness,
21:26and make your chosen people joyful.
21:32O Lord, save your people,
21:35and bless your inheritance.
21:40Give peace in our time, O Lord,
21:44because there is none other who fights for us,
21:46but only you, O God.
21:50O God, make clean our hearts within us,
21:55and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
22:06Let us pray.
22:08O Lord, we pray that your grace
22:11may always be present and follow us,
22:14making us continually given to all good works.
22:19Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
22:22Amen.
22:30O God, from whom all holy desires,
22:34all good counsels, and all just works proceed,
22:38give to your servants that peace
22:40which the world cannot give,
22:42that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
22:47and also that, by you,
22:49we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
22:53may pass our time in rest and quietness.
22:57through the merits of Jesus Christ,
23:00our Saviour.
23:01Amen.
23:06Lighten our darkness,
23:08we beseech you, O Lord,
23:10and by your great mercy defend us all
23:13from perils and dangers of this night.
23:16For the love of your only Son,
23:19our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
23:21Amen.
23:25Almighty God,
23:27who has given us grace at this time with one accord
23:30to make our common supplications to you,
23:33and promises that when two or three
23:36are gathered together in your name,
23:38you will grant their requests.
23:42Fulfill now, O Lord,
23:44the desires and petitions of your servants,
23:47as may be most beneficial for them,
23:51granting us in this world
23:53knowledge of your truth,
23:55and in the world to come,
23:57life everlasting.
23:59Amen.
24:02With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
24:05and the love of God
24:06and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
24:09be with us all evermore.
24:12Amen.
