00:41I thought Deshaun Watson played really well.

00:46The defense was much, much better.

00:55he had talked leading up to the game about his willingness to,
00:59or desire to put players in a best chance to be successful.
01:03We hear that a lot from coordinators,
01:06and then they kind of stick to their game plan
01:08and how they want to do things.
01:10And, you know, he made the necessary adjustments.
01:14Defense was much, much better.
01:15And Baker Mayfield now is 0 for 2 in revenge games against the Browns.

01:22I just, Daryl, it's such a stark contrast to how you and all of us
01:30have been talking really not just the last week,
01:33but, you know, for the last month.
01:34So what changed yesterday?
01:36How was the offense able to operate?
01:41I know there were some penalties early and all that,
01:43but operate in much more of a normal competitive manner.
01:46Yeah, I mean, they do have to clean up the penalty situation.
01:49That's a little bit of a problem.
01:51There were a couple of operational issues as well,
01:53but they overcame all of it.
01:55Well, first and foremost, okay,
01:57Deshaun Watson took care of the football, right?
01:58The first offensive possession did not end in a turnover.
02:01You did not have multiple instances
02:04where there could have been other turnovers with Deshaun as well.
02:08So that's right at the top of the list.
02:10He took care of the ball.
02:12Second, he was efficient passing the ball.
02:14Took what the defense gave him.
02:16He did a nice job on a couple of throws
02:17when there was pressure in his face
02:20of delivering an accurate football.
02:22And then the third component to all this,
02:25his teammates made plays for him.
02:27Offensive line did a real nice job protecting.
02:30The wide receivers did a nice job
02:33creating things after the catch
02:35as well as catching the football when it was thrown to them.
02:38And really, I think the only negative
02:40to come out of yesterday
02:42from an offensive standpoint is the run game.
02:44It was not that good.
02:46They really struggled to get things going on the ground.
02:49But in the end, it didn't matter.
02:51So all those things came together offensively
02:54for a much, much better afternoon for the Browns.
02:57And it doesn't hurt that he had a couple of long,
03:00sustained scoring drives too.
03:01Do you think it's a Quinshawn-Judkins problem
03:05or is it more of an offensive line cohesion problem?
03:08I think it's a cohesion problem right now.
03:10I don't think that Quinshawn is the problem.
03:15He looked really healthy during practice
03:18and the offseason here.
03:21And look, this is the tough thing
03:23about when we're trying to evaluate
03:25just how good the run game is going to be
03:27when you're in those practice environments
03:30because there's no live tackling.
03:32You really can't tell,
03:34okay, was that a one-yard gain?
03:36Did he break a bunch of tackles
03:38into the open field and things like that?
03:40But I think Quinshawn-Judkins
03:42is a very talented running back.
03:45And hopefully, more time together,
03:48they'll get things going.
03:49Also, too, let's give the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
03:51credit as well.
03:53But 12 carries, 21 yards,
03:56and a less than 2-point yard per carry average
04:01just doesn't get it done.

04:21about what Deshaun Watson's going to be able
04:23to give the Browns
04:23in the form of any type of a sustained winning.
04:27But look, I'm going to give the guy his credit.
04:30He played well yesterday.
04:32He did everything that he was supposed to do
04:36to help the Browns win a football game,
04:37and they won the game.
04:38Granted, let's also give that defense credit
04:41after that rain delay,
04:42or the weather delay, I should say,
04:44for coming out and getting that stop.
04:46Ball was at the 28-yard line.
04:48Not a lot of real estate
04:51that Tampa Bay needed to gain
04:52to win that game,
04:53and the defense stepped up
04:55and made the ultimate stop.
04:56But when it comes to Deshaun,
04:58look, you know,
04:59hopefully he can repeat this
05:02throughout the season.
05:03The numbers, not all that spectacular
05:05as far as passing yardage goes.
05:08Less than 240 yards once again,
05:10but two touchdowns,
05:12no interceptions,
05:14had a very good completion percentage as well.
05:17So, yeah, hopefully this is something
05:19that they can build on.
05:20And, you know, as you guys know,
05:24confidence is everything in this sport,
05:26and maybe Deshaun Watson is starting to get
05:28some of that confidence back,
05:31because one of the things
05:32I was really concerned about with Deshaun
05:34was, you know,
05:36whether or not he was shot
05:37between the ears mentally.
05:38And there were a lot of indications
05:40to tell you that he was,
05:43that he just, he didn't have it,
05:44especially when you look at the preseason
05:46and some of the things
05:47that he was concerned about
05:48with the booing and whatnot.
05:50I was like, I don't know
05:51if this guy can get it together.
05:53Yesterday he got it together.
05:55And so we'll see if he can
05:57be consistent with it.

07:07that, yeah,
07:08Deshaun was able to get
07:09to the line of scrimmage
07:10and he was able to take the time
07:12to look at what the defense
07:13was showing him
07:15and make adjustments accordingly.
07:16And that does make a difference.
07:18But yeah, the fact that
07:18you had to get to week two
07:20to figure out,
07:21eh, need to shorten these play calls
