01:42English that people inside the building were frustrated with the way that he ran the operation in week one?

01:52We were out there together at, you know, the first voluntary OTAs when he was throwing interceptions.
01:59And it was very obvious then that there was nothing in there.

03:36this and it wasn't a lot of action.

03:41And, you know, Ken Carmen made the comment on Friday when I was on with them about I forget what
03:47I said, but he's like, Daryl, this is high school stuff.
03:50I go, well, these are the Cleveland Browns.
03:51This is what you deal with.
03:52Like, it's high school.
03:54It's elementary football and they can't execute that.
03:58And then you had the report from I think it was Tom Pellicero who was detailing the behind the scenes
04:04of the Browns trade with the Texans and the fact that Deshaun Watson.
04:09Funny thing.
04:10We heard so much about cadence in the lead up to the season.
04:15Right.
04:15And there's a nugget by Tom Pellicero.
04:17Yeah.
04:17Deshaun Watson had no cadence in Houston.
04:19Half the building wanted to get rid of him.
04:21Half the building didn't want to give him that first was $156 million contract extension.
04:27They wanted to move on.
04:30And I'm just like, yep, the Browns, the Juju, Juju Smith-Schuster and Mike Tomlin got it right.
04:38Hit the nail right on the head.
04:39The Browns is the Browns.
04:41And like, you know, for all the well, we did our homework on Deshaun Watson and we're completely comfortable with
04:47this transaction.
04:48Right.
04:49Because that's all we heard about.

04:50And this stuff like this is elementary stuff, like elementary stuff.
04:57This guy can't see a linebacker to say his save his life.
05:01He tried turning the ball over four times last week.

05:09We know the interception.

05:12Uh, he, he did his best to throw a pick, but you know, you know, he tried fumbling twice.
05:19He did fumble twice, fell on one.
05:22And you know, the other one got overruled by replay.
05:25Like I, I just, I, I, I can't, I've tried to warn people about what a catastrophe starting Deshaun Watson
05:34is and will be.
05:37And I told yourself that that's, that, that's all I have to say about this whole situation.

05:45And it speaks to the incompetence of that organization because I have a rule.
05:51If Daryl knows, if Daryl can see it, then the people making millions of dollars should be able to see

05:58Maybe the Browns should hire me and pay me millions of dollars.

06:17And the fact they got blown out in week one, is confidence wavering on Todd Munkin already?
06:21Well, here's the thing that Todd does not think that Deshaun looked good because they wouldn't be doing right.

06:29So no, Todd doesn't think he looked good publicly in front of the cameras and microphones.

06:54I would hope so.
06:54He's in year two and got meaningful snaps.
06:56I would hope that Shador Sanders could play better.

07:09And the people that I feel bad for are the fans.

07:21And as I said earlier, it appears once again we had another waste of our time training camp quarterback competition.

07:36Mike Rutenberg, our kind of embattled defensive coordinator.
07:39I don't know what that was in week one from this Browns defense.
07:44They got carved up.
07:45And then as the numbers start to come out, you see they spent more time in zone defense versus man

07:51I thought the whole reason why Rutenberg got hired was that he was going to do a lot of what
07:56Schwartz did because that's the personnel that they have.
07:58It feels like that's another element of this thing that's kind of a mess right now, too.

08:13when you can be the smartest guy in the room and say, hey, let's play some zone.

08:29Again, this is what the Browns do.
08:33And why should we be surprised?
08:35I hope to go back to man-to-man, though, because that's the strength.

08:42And look, we're going to find out if Mike Rutenberg is full of hot air, like so many other defensive
08:48coordinators that have come through here over the years that are big talkers but not a lot of substance behind
08:55the conversation.
08:57We're going to find out today.
08:58Okay, today's going to be the pass-fail test for Mike Rutenberg.
09:05If they go back to more man-to-man, okay, the guy learned his lesson.
09:08But if we see a bunch of zone out there today, then you know what, guys?
09:12It's going to be hopeless because you just got done telling us on Thursday how your whole goal is to
09:21put your players in the best possible position to be successful, to learn from mistakes.
09:26Well, the mistake last week was playing too much zone.
09:29So we're going to find out today if they truly learn from mistakes or if Mike Rutenberg is just like
09:34every other defensive coordinator that tends to come through here and does it their way while producing mixed results.
